clue did not fit the GZ, no sign on tree in the close vicinity. last person to find mentioned log book only and photo looks like mush. would love to wrap up kirks bush, CO please check
No luck here today. Previous log mentioned no container and only a log so weren't sure we were looking for anything - logs don't usually hang around by themselves. Looked twice - on the way down the path and on the way back. Spent quite a bit of time looking too. No tree signs here like elsewhere on the path.
Enjoyed the little walk in the bush, and found the cache after some thrashing about. It appears the sign mentioned in the hint is long gone, at least there was no such sign anywhere near the posted coords or the cache. Thanks.
Out walking through this neat block of forest. Waiting for some muggles to pass we found signed and rehide. Cheers for bringing us to this bush love the outdoors and mother nature. Tftc
Out with a few cachers doing the Orona Island cache. Decided to do a few more afterwards.
What an amazing bush.
Co ords a bit off, but that ok, cache quickly found.

Heading home from some caching out this way and decided to stop for 'just a couple more'. There were a few muggles walking through so we let them pass and jumped in for a quick find.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
My phone gps played around here.....and we hadn't researched this type of tree !!!
I was expecting a sign !!!
Such a shame about the prolific graffiti on a great many of the trees....
Finally Ric helped by seeing an amazing looking tree ....and used his geo sense....and soon the container was in hand !
Thanks kiwileon ...

The trunk of the tree looks like a sort of pyramid, took a while to find it.
Had to search what a pukatea tree looked like:)

Out with 3-girls today, inducting them into the wonderful world of geocaching! Parked up on Great South Rd and walked in with the junior cachers. Approached GZ and found plenty of trees, but no sign. Fortunately, we spotted a tree that we thought would make a perfect hiding spot, and used our geo powers from there, and the cache was quickly found. The juniors thought the SWAG was pretty cool, and made a couple of trades. Picked up geocoin. Thanks for the cache!
Found with my Mum, NewlynFam. Have now created my own account so am logging all finds I was present at and helped with.
We also found this one while out with our friends, 3-girls as we were introducing them to geocaching.

Tricky! Not quite on the geo location. Bring a new note book and foreign coins to swap!
Did my first geocache in New Zealand this morning. Dropped off a lot of trackables and left some coins from other countries.
My wife and I decided to stop here and grab some caches due to their close proximity to each other and the motorway. I took the straight line approach to GZ and spent about 10 minutes searching without success, I was about to give up and try another nearby cache but decided to widen the search area and quickly stumbled on the cache container. I was surprised to find a large number of TB's and Geocoins which I grabbed. I'll distribute some in the Waikato, and around the Coromandel Peninsula in the coming weeks.
What a pain in the a---- this cache proved to be!!!! I searched everywhere for 30 mins at least, and still no go for me. It certainly wasn't anywhere GZ so I don't know where it was hidden, maybe in the clouds [?].
No sign on the tree.. Def taller than 2.5m. GPS was a bit off so looked for a while!!
T4TC took a bit of guess work and trying to remember what a Pukatea tree looked liked
One fantail was flitting all over the place & almost landed in the cache container.
O I found it alright!
RIGHT AFTER I HAD A RATHER FREAKY ENCOUNTER WITH A FREAKISHLY BIG SPIDER LIKE THE SIZE OF MY HAND!
*SHIVERS*!
Good location!. Minus the freaky spiders, overly inquisitive small birds and the even scarier fact someone had ripped pieces of the bible up along the track near the GZ.....
Let's just say I am to afraid to return now

Hint said to look for a sign. Its not there anymore. Lucky we knew what the pukatea looks like. Fun find.
Wonderful area!:-)))
The "parks" in Europe's cities are completely different . I love this wild forest in the middle of town!! Had to look around for a while, cause I couldn't see any signs... Got it anyway:-))) thank for for hiding and showing this beautiful place! Greetings from German geocachers!

This was fun! Found with evvlar, had to wander around a bit, definitely no sign on the tree -
fun find Thanks for the cache left a trackable for future travels, and a swappable item (Mr Buggle).

Had a look for this one but GPS on the phone was jumping around quite a lot. Had a good look around GZ but no luck. headed off to find the next cache along the track and then returned to have another look for this. Poked around GZ this time with a stick (it looked the most likely option) but no luck so poked around almost every other tree base in the area before returning to GZ and finally finding the cache. Not sure where it was in relation to the coordinates as the phone was not co-operating. Cache was all in good order.
5.30pm - On a road trip to pick up a few necessary and maybe some bonus caches with the Squirrel. Took Travel Bug. SLTFTC
A Dot Day... The mission for today: find mid-level D Rated caches. Gap (of Fap and Gap) and I are heading to South Auckland. Everything in between is fair game... Our main targets are Marmis' Challenge Caches (the ones we've qualified for). However, as we were driving through the countryside, we discovered others where we also met the target...
This one was found on the second pass... After not initially finding it, we walked on to a nearby cache. Upon returning, this one was found... It was a little bit out for our iPhone gps. TFTC.

No sign as per previous coments but we worked it out and swapped a badge for a set of old coins
Definitely found the right tree judging by others comments, no container though?
Was beginning to think this one did not exist but after a couple of attempts found it. As others have said no sign, but it is in the obvious place
Took us a while to find but we got there in the end, defiantly a tree you can't miss
A Nice find today, GPS was 16 metres off, but I had done my homework so knew what tree to look for, no sign as mentioned in previous logs, but tree looked like the likely spot, and on investigating Bingo ! TFTC.
I had to expand my search pattern to find this cache. My GPSr had me 18m away from GZ. It might have helped if I paid attention during the "How to recognise different types of trees from quite a long way away" sketch. XNSL. TFTC.
We have only a couple of days left in Auckland so headed down Drury way to find a few challenge caches.
This was a bonus cache we found on our drive along the quiet countryside.
A good hint helped to find this cache. Didn't have time to walk in the bush.
Thanks for placing this cache KiwiLeon

A spot of weekend caching in Auckland. Nice one.
Made a straightforward find on this one, sort of. Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden.
Nice patch of native, enjoyed the walk.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Sunday walk around Papakura to do some local caches. Approached GZ with GPS a bit bouncy in the trees. Saw a few downed trees and wondered if the sign posted tree had fallen in recent storms, but Mr NZT located this one pretty quickly after reading the description. Log a bit and full, TFTC
Out caching with Vamber after the paint balling event.
Another DNF - this time we think because the "hint" has been cut down!

Out for a spot of caching with KFNZ after the paintball even in Kingseat. Went to as near as GZ as possible, but there has been a lot of trees that have been cut down, so wondering if one of them was the tree referred to in the hint?
GPS took us to place where there was a heap of fallen trees had a poke around but found nothing while walking back we think we found the tree from the hint right next to the track with the sign had a good look but came up empty handed not sure if it was the right place?
GPS had me going round in circles and where it took us the cache was not. Widened the search area and soon located the cache about 15 feet away from where GPS had us....... Amazing it is still in here with all the foot traffic this place gets. Was nice walking through here today and we collected a bit of trash as we went. TFTC
GPS was a tad jumpy here. Couldn't find sign ,but managed a smilie all the same thanks. Lovely place for a walk.
We did struggle a little to latch on to this one, but a few careful readings of the information provided helped narrow down the area. In the end it was spotted in a likely place, and we rehid it even better. TFTC
TFTC Found the another tree of the same species with the sign on, describing characteristics of the tree to look for.
Found after a little look in the wrong spot. GPS way off track initially. These trees mess with the signal. No sign on the tree either.
Took me a while. GPS was very confused and I wasn't sure about the pukatea tree. A good hide. Thanks.
Log book is full.
Log book is full.
GPS was all over the place. Luckily the cache was found with some logic applied. TFTC
Walked in circles! Not being a local didn't know the type of tree to look for. Near GZ there was a big tree down across the path and then suddenly we were surrounded by teens walking home from school. We decided to cut our losses and move on.
There required a reasonable search, before Gunnie69 jumped the cache on a spot we overlooked a few times!
This is Day 5 of our trip to the Land of the Long White Cloud for the 2013 NZ MEGA event in Auckland. I joined Gunnie69 and Kaisho53 for a fun packed 5 days of geocaching adventures. The last day started in the north near the mega site and make our way back to the airport, and then a plane home.

On the trek in to GZ from the gate, I split from Ghostgums and Kaisho53 as I suspected that the first path to the right would take me to GZ.... Oops, that was not the case and I doubled back after a minute or so, whe I realised I was going the long way around...
I made my way down another path to find my fellow Brisbanites deep into the hunt and already cursing the area and the fact the cache was not coming to hand... Hmm, this is not a good sign I thought... My GPS was pointing to a slightly different area to theirs, so I put my trust in the gadget and fgigured I would have look "over there". After all, thy probably didn;t need another person to confirm the cache was not where they were...
I walked over to a likely hiding spot and pulled the container out from it's lair. That was handy. I was moving toward Ghostgums and Kaisho53 when I heard the suggestion that we give this one a miss as, according to the GPX we had in our gadgets, it hadn't been found for a couple of months. I held up the container as the suggestion was being posed... "Oh, you've got it" came the response...
We quickly added a sticker to the log and I tucked it back. Not a difficult hide, but the GPS could have some trouble in the area...
Cheers KiwiLeon.

New Zealand 2103 trip for the Auckland Mega at Albany. Day 2. After a fruitless search at the entrance to the park I headed off to this one. The trees caused chaos, and most of the 15m error might have been due to that. As for the clue, I did not see the second bit. Maybe I was frustrated but at least I found this one. Thanks.

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We found this cache on a short walk around Kirk's Bush. GPS was fairly flaky here, but we found the cache after focussing on some of the more prominent trees along the path. TFTC!

Like previous cachers couldn't find any sign however I found the cache without having to search too long. A nice bit of bush however it's a pity will all the graffiti on the trees.
Thanks!
Thanks!
The sign appears to be gone. So I chose a likely candidate from the description and checked it out, and sure enough there it was. I also have to agree with other finders. It's a damb shame that this lovely stand of bush has to be so badly defaced by all the tagging that's been done in there. Also log book is full and needs replacing.
Couldn't find assign & not knowing wat a Puketea tree was left a lot of options.Spent quite a while checking possibilities with no luck.Never mind, there is always another day.
Spent far too much time digging around under trees... No sign on tree, no geocoin as suggested (possibly in the hands of blacknimo, the first geocacher to visit after coin placement)... Left a golf ball here that I found while searching.
Simply Tricky! 2 signed Pukatea Trees along the walk way, neither held the cache.... coupled with the swirling GPS from tree interference made this a lucky find by ChocSpotMadness and I! Follow your instincts on this one - its pretty much in the most obvious place!
Little bit hard to find with the GPS wandering all over the bush. Lovely little fantail followed us all the way to the cache.
The kids were on a mission to beat Mum and Dad to this one... they had decided if they beat Mum and Dad for cache finds, then they would be rewarded with an iceblock! Mum and Dad had already found 2/2 for the day, so thought it would be an easy bet.
Mum read out the description and hint as the team approached GZ. GPS got to 20m then started climbing again. Dad and the boys searched in the possible area(s) - and while we couldn't locate a part of the hint, 8YO managed to come up with the cache.
We left a TB we had been holding on to for a while.

Found on second attempt. GPS doesn't read so well under trees so takes a while. No pukatea sign on this tree however is one further up the path which adds to the confusion. However when look in most likely spots reasonably easy find. Thanks
Hadn't been this way for several years, so when Mrs Darby&Joan suggested a day out, I was more than willing.
The day was heating up so was nice to take refuge in the bush.
The 2nd part of the hint is missing so it was a bit of 'whats the most likely place it would have been' - reasonably near where GPSr was indicating.
Didn't take long to find. TFTC

On a mission today with Helefant to find caches that fit our provisional licence requirements at Hunua. We set off nice and early, to beat the heat of the day. On our return journey doing a few caches on the way to the motorway. Took a moment to find. Remember in our early days of caching calling here and see that finally the DNF from 31/1/2010 is now a smiley. Neat bush with some grand trees. SL. TFTC.
I had forgot to grab the GPS so tried using the phone and that got me within 20m of GZ and then with the great clue cache was soon in hand, TFTC.
Our first ever find! Our Gps was a bit out but clues helped heaps. Thanks The log book was very full.
