What a huge surprise when you actually find a lost or archived cache that just should not exist. I did not solve any of the puzzle. I just happened to find this cache while looking for a cache from another series. At the time it was very confusing. The archived cache was pretty much within a few meters of the new cache that lives here. If it didn't feel so wrong I would not have searched again for the cache I was actually here for. I have messaged the owner of the new cache who happens to own the old cache also, and advised them of my find and my intention to log this even though it has been archived. TNLNSL. TFTC. KKams"
Out on a maintenance run with the CO. Such a great day for it and just cool and windy enough to keep most of the muggles away. After a short search I spotted what I was looking for.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache and the fun day
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache and the fun day
This is one I visited with Jacko83 et al on August 5th. I didn't log it at the time because there was some confusion and I didn't recall having been at GZ. Having worked through the latter stages of the puzzle I now grasp how it works and revisited GZ today. Thanks Hell+Back and Gonefishen07!
Found with my family - becca85, boo09 & chan02 as well as GemmaSistma & boys on a roadtrip for the school holidays. Sorry for the very tardy logging. TFTC
Found during our super fun roadtrip to Phillip Island with my Team Clarmensma family - becca85, GemmaSistema, neisha07, Adam & Lukey. We found lots of caches and saw lots of different animals- including a penguin in the wild! TFTC!
School holiday time once again which means Team Clarmensma is formed (myself+GemmaSistema+neisha07+boo09+Adam+Luke) and one lucky destination gets to host us.
This time it was Phillip Island and decided to make a 3 day road-trip of it.
The weather treated us fairly well and we enjoyed the many beautiful views and landscapes that we were taken to. TFTC!

In Philip Island for a few days of caching with becca85 and our geokids - Adam, Luke, neisha07 and boo09. What a fantastic drive along the cliff here! A nice easy find too! Stunning views - such beautiful country. Thanks for bringing us
Was out on a philip island geoday to find a heap of caches on the island. Well we found some caches but not heaps as they seemed to be than a walk up but what some great views TFTC for all your efforts too.
A huge thanks to jacko83 and the crew for fixing this one for me it is very much appreciated
A group of us planned a geocaching assault on Phillip Island today, seeing how far we would get in finding all of the approximately 120 available caches. We did aim mostly for puzzles, mysteries and earthcaches so it was no surprise that we ended the day with less than 20 finds... quality over quantity, I suppose .
I have an earthcache nearby, so I'm quite familiar with this area. So 'solving' this puzzle didn't take long. At GZ we removed the confusing throwdown, took note of the series clue, and signed the original log as 'P.I. Crew' to save space.
Thanks, Hell+Back/Gonefishen07.
And now we'll keep circling the island clockwise direction.

A big drive down from Geelong for a day out on the Island with friends old and new. A great day with mainly finds save for a couple of D5's. Perfect weather too which had to be happy with, despite the thick fog in the morning! Caches were logged 'The Philip Island Crew - 5/08/16' to save logbook space as a group.
Came to the area and found two caches. Simply removed the throwdown. A shame this had to be disabled, as the original cache is still in place. Just in a tricky spot!
Cheers

Found with LazyAde while down here for a short 2 night stay.
We had a few false starts with the first part of the puzzle this morning - only because Chook's maths were off. But finally we had a set of co-ords to go to.
We headed out to Nobbies at lunchtime and enjoyed a really yummy lunch at the Ecotourism Centre before heading off to the next waypoint.
Gathered the required info at each waypoint and made it to GZ with little fuss.
However we found TWO caches at GZ - both valid caches for this cache with logbooks. Will email a pic to the CO. They were found together and were put back together too.
TFTC Gonefishen07. We really enjoyed visiting here.

GZ was deserted when we arrived and could look without difficulty. Soon found the cache and could sign log. TFTC
So after exploring Nobbies and working out the puzzle we headed to GZ. However, we were unable to locate said container. Again with 7 sets of eyes collectively from us, Mark&Kelly and Vanessa&Aodh. Loverly location though.
We had a great time sorting out this puzzle, particularly with Nobby Nobbs's full name. However, we got to GZ and had a massive look but couldn't find this cache. We saw a penguin under the structure, but no cache.
The co-ords we had for this one lead us to a structure that fitted the clue perfectly. Alas we searched all over the place and found only a couple of young penguins and a lot of penguin poop.
I had trouble with some of the early clues, but once I was at the penultimate WP all became clear. The hint came in useful to quickly find the cache without upsetting penguins, Cape Barren geese, various raptors, wallabies or an echidna.
My next problem was opening the container. After the application of brute force and ignorance failed I applied a little intellect and the cache revealed its secrets. The log was rather ragged and a little damp. Also I couldn't find the necessary number and letter, just in case I ever get to the end of this series and want to claim the final NDC prize.
I picked up a trackable. Thank you for a great cache!

Been down this way heaps and this spot has always been one of my favourites but I had no idea that a cache was hiding nearby! So had great fun finding it after working thru all the clues - thanks for all the effort you've put in, I'm looking forward to tackling others in this series. Best of all, managed to place the rockhopper penguin geocoin in the cache. Found this down near Mornington and as he was wanting to visit his relatives I could think of no better place to bring him (especially as I do volunteer research on penguins - what a match made in heaven!!!). So hoping that someone else will grab him and help him visit other relatives in the south.
A lovely day on the point: not too much wind. Saw quite a bit of wild life on the way to the cache: wallabies, cape barren geese and a moulting penguin.
Container was dry but paper too wet to write on.
Now to the End Game.

With the continuation of great weather, we went back to Phillip Island for some sightseeing
and to pick up a few more caches.
Worked our way through as many of the puzzles as we could, and a few traditionals as well.
Thanks to all the owners, for the effort that you put into the construction and the hides.
Many thanks for placing this cache, hell+back, for us and others to find.

Took a few goes at this one. Was hoping that the icy winds would keep the muggles away and I was right. TFTC and the scenic drive
Had calculated the location some time back but been muggled out of our hunts. Today we found it! The container is well made although the contents are a little soggy. TFTC.
Found this one this afternoon after the CITO event in Cowes. We had worked out where it was but hadn't been able to find it before. Thanks.
We calculated and found the first 2 way points but then found we hadn't completed our homework to be able to find the cache. We are learning a lot about puzzle and multi-caches today. We'll be back.
Found with Gonefishen07, Lazzal and Liz and Bruce. I was very lucky to be able to log these caches as I was picked up from school instead of getting the bus home. I was glad that they picked me up as we had lots of fun finding these caches around the Island. Thanks Hell+back for hiding them. TFTC
We have wanted to do this series of caches for a very long time and finally our travels have bought us close by. A fine day and awesome scenery made this a caching day to remember. We ventured from spot to spot, occasionally groaning at yet another set of steps and another walk through the sand but then the incredulous comments about the shape of the rocky outcrops, the changing colour of the rocks, the changing sea or the way the sea looked like waterfalls coming off the rocks. As the day turned into night we experienced an amazing sunset with the hues changing to soft and calming colours. During the course of the day we saw Cape Barren Geese, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Sea Eagles and penguins. Our company for the day LazzaL, Gonefishen07 and when school finished Zobo04 joined in the hunt, we could not have asked for better. This one gets a fav point for the most fabulous scenery. Thanks to hell+back for the enormous effort in organizing this variety of caches and for showing us the beauty spots of Phillip Island.
A very big day doing this series of caches with Liz and Gonefishen07, some very challnging walks to the caches and some extremely beautiful scenery. This is definitely at least a 2 day exercise to get all of this series. Home at 8pm with pizza for dinner, the rest will have to wait. Thanks to hell+back for hiding this cache.
Found with Liz & Bruce, Lazzal and Zobo04 on a perfect day for caching. I was very lucky to be able to tag along with these teams today and gather knowledge from them. These teams carry a wealth on knowledge. It was also a pleasure to be able to show them some fantastic local sights. It was a fun filled day with lots of walking, talking and laughs. Thanks for helping me show them around the island. This cache has so spectacular views but the cache was a little smelly. We made a very quick find here. Thanks to hell+back
Had a quick look before some muggles turned up to eat their lunch...just as well I live in the area and can return on another day soon.
15:00
Very windy and slightly wet, but we are here with a purpose, so we ventured out to experience the magnificence and grandeur of the elements. We took a few strokes in this series about three years ago and with extra workouts and training at home we had a win here today.
After making the find and signing the log we stayed to watch the change in the sea as a spectacular front passed through.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt hell+back.

Quite busy here. I can remember when that building was ruined by strong storms and winds.
Always loved coming here in my teenage days too.
Nice little hide and again I was lucky as the muggles moved on.

This morning we cached in and around Wonthaggi. This afternoon we returned to Phillip Island. Yesterday we found some of the caches in this series and today we wanted to see if we could add to our collection. We had completed some research for this puzzle before leaving Tassie but had to visit today to collect further information. Despite being heavily overcast and threatening to rain, this location was as busy as Flinders Street Station at 5pm. After collecting the necessary information from various locations, we headed off to the final waypoint. It was raining quite steadily when we arrived and that was an advantage as the many tourists were scurrying back to their buses. The hint and accurate coordinates led to a quick find. We had great difficult opening the container and the caps were very tight. Eventually we got it open. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. TFTC hell+back. Another cache in the series completed - we were looking forward to the task for the final cache.
Checked this one today in passing and it had gone again! Replaced in same location.
# 3306. Travelling around with the CO and her chief maintenance officer today checking on caches and fixing where needed. Since my last visit to the Island I had solved the rest of the puzzles in this series and was able to sign the log as we checked this one today. Another nice cache on the rugged coastline, another clue collected and on we go. TFTC hell+back.
Team Mornington, Hazey1, Biger12, MrMcGee and Saulman1010. Having solved this awhile ago, time to actually go collect some on our way out and about. An awesome drive to Gz, enjoyed the views and wildlife. Easy find. TFTC
Team Mornington, Hazey1, Biger12, MrMcGee and myself on an April Fools day caching run on the island again today.
Grabbed a few and finished off others.
Nice day, for a few caches, looking for one of the new "TINY" caches
Much work done in past to solve most of this series, now is the time to start picking them up.
Really enjoying this series.

So pleased that this cache has been replaced and we could find the final clue for the series which we so eagerly started in January. The weather was blowing a gale by the time we arrived at GZ today and no muggles in sight. Now time to do the final puzzle for the Endgame. Thanks hell+back.
Second time at this one as the cache was missing last time. Found in first place I looked. Left a travel bug. Love the views from here. Sl thanks Hell & Back for the cache, now off to work out the final.

Find # 2681
Date 9th Mar 2013
Time 6:28 PM
My regular caching partner SedgwickDave has left me for a holiday in Western Australia, so I decided to head out to an area he had already covered and find as many caches as possible. My main target was the hell+back Not Drowning, Caching series, which I had managed to solve most caches some time ago, but it was not until today that I had the opportunity to go and find them. As it was going to be a very hot day, I was keen to head out early when hopefully it was a bit cooler.
This one was a little tricky to access, but I eventually worked it out. Once at GZ, I had to wait for two sets of tourists to clear off before commencing my search. It did take me some time, and the clue did not seem to match the final location. I did however find it in the end.
Thanks to hell+back for the cache. TNLN. Love the container.

no sign of it at the hint spot, but it looks like the penguins have taken a liking to it again.
Today was our 2nd visit with new co-ords after overlooking some maths errors last weekend. We were confident of being at the correct gz this time, and after waiting for numerous muggles to move on, we did a thorough search of the area and came up empty. We were extremely disappointed as we were sure we had the right location.
I did all calculation and went to gz but could not find anything so I went back and double checked my answers and got the same gz so went and looked hard but still came up empty handed. my gz matched the hint so I think the pengiun have got the removalist in and got rid of the cache. Thanks Hell & back for the great series I only have this cache to go and the Final.
Checked this one again. It started in one place, moved to a second place to avoid a penguin, then returned to the beginning again, however it looks like the original GZ is a regular penguin summer home, so the cache has been permanently moved to the second location. Instructions and hint updated accordingly.
Visiting Phillip Island for the first time for a scientific field trip, I had been staring at this location for days from a rather odd viewpoint, which had also given me lots of time to work through a multitude of the island's puzzles. Finally, I was able to visit the required locations and collect the data required to calculate GZ as well as view the location I had been staying. I was very pleased to note that the calculated GZ matched the GZ I had brute forced!
After having admired the view, I sat down to calibrate my GPSr after a battery change, when I was busted by a number of other cachers - the owner and a few friends on a maintenance run. I was able to sign the log before the cache was replaced - it had been missing all along. I also said hello to the penguin nesting under the nearby structure - a chick awaiting the nightly return of its parent's with dinner.
Thanks hell+back for the cache, and nice to meet you, BettyBoo3747 and Robmc in the field . If only I had thought to get your mobile numbers at this time

Rated: for Overall Experience
We have had a look around the area. Great views. We think we no the right location for the cache but think the Penguins have moved into the area. We found the walk way and the hint made sense.
This one had us going for quite a while. We had a lunch break half way thru, caught up with a friend and then returned refreshed to find GZ. Or so we thought!
We did get there eventually, but it took much longer than we expected. However, the sun is still shining, most of our friends are still working and we're out caching. Life is very, very good!
Thanks again Hell+Back

It took a while, but (with help from some very clever cachers) I eventually refound the initial cache - it had crept rather a lot!!
So now the second cache (which matches the current clues and hopefully avoids penguins) is the only one there.

Well we got two for the price of one here! After a bit of searching I found the original cache. We returned to the car to sign the log and noticed that there were very few entries. A bit bamboozled by this we checked the log and saw that there seemed to be two caches at GZ. Curious, we kept on looking and abl973 found the replacement container.
This was a truly magnificent spot, and I liked the tie in with the book series, although I haven't read any of them before. They look like a worthwhile read. Thanks hell+back for the cache.

15/07/12 9:36 AM Find #1105 Its back to the island for myself and Square Pegs. Our day started with clear skies and a crisp breeze which developed into rain and strong wind. The elements certainly tested our resolve but it was amazing. We saw contrasts of colour in the sea and surrounding environment that is the sort of thing most people would never see as they opt to stay indoors.
This cache was our first on the itinerary which was found by Square Pegs but as I was signing the log it appeared that some names were missing from the logs we had which all seemed very odd. Reading back through older logs it became apparent that Square Pegs had found the original cache. This posed a new challenge! I wanted to find the replacement cache and sure enough I found it quite quickly. We signed both logs and returned each cache back to their respective hiding spots. Thanks Hell+Back!

Another TDC assault on Philip Island. The members of the team (myself, Quasar3671 and TrailRunning) together today, for an attempt at a final clean up of the area. We didn't quite get them all, but almost all of them... We did see some whales, that was awesome. Very wet and miserable, but our team spirit was still great with some laughs and jokes along the way.
Nice to grab this one. Awesome views here. Thanks for an interesting cache and bringing us to the spot. TFTC. Fav point for views.

The members of TDC gathered together for a quick trip to Phillip Island. Marshy was in town again, and Marty took the morning off work. He was soon to return once he had collected the caches he needed, leaving Marshy and I to continue to the western part of the island to gather the caches not available during the night due to road closures. The island is now close to being complete. It was a wet and miserable day, but a few jokes and laughs lightened the spirits and the whale watching off Flynns Reef. A nice quick find here.
#2865 Quite an interesting story behind this cache. We obtained as much information relating to the puzzle prior to arriving here & started our information collection last evening - unfortunately we ran out of time prior to our Penguin Parade date. Back first thing this morning we arrived at GZ and started searching in earnest..... & we searched & searched & searched. We were about to call this one a DNF when located the "original" cache (last entry was Suscue back early 2011). So we signed that but don't know if the replacement is still there. Thanks once again to Hell+Back for the puzzle and the series [^]
After a full school term with exam after exam, I didn't get to do much caching. This was all going to change however when I started to plan an assault on Philip Island. I started to think of which town would be best to assault to raise me from the dead after my abysmal effort in the earlier months. With 3 different series, a power trail, and a handful of other caches, Philip Island was the place to go. So I started solving the puzzles and making a few phone calls so I would have the best chance of finding a heap. I solved most of the puzzles, however some of them required a bit of a nudge or someone else to realise my error. I started to think about my route in a way that would get me the most finds possible. We ended up with 55 in one day, and 87 for the whole weekend which was a fantastic effort . The weather was very on and off for the whole weekend which made some journeys quite unpleasant, however on the whole it was awesome. The Nobbies was a definite highlight for me. We started off the day with the 'Pathway' and managed to complete it and all of the other caches along the trail in just over 4 hours. What an awesome weekend! Thank you to all of the owners who contributed, but especially hell+back and The Three Geo Amigos (you know who you are)!

This was definitely one of my favourite caches for the weekend. This is an awesome spot that we were very grateful to see. It was a very windy day, but we pushed on and soon got to WP1. We didn't realise that it was a multi though, so after failing to find the box we PAF. They then pointed us in the right direction, to a location where just a few minutes earlier I thought 'Why isn't there a cache there?'. Anyway, we made our way to GZ and soon located the well hidden cache, which hadn't been found for about 10 months! Thanks for another great cache hell+back, a favourite for this

DNF – How inconsiderate… three Nobbie muggles sitting within metres of GZ, and wouldn’t budge, meant we couldn’t search, enjoyed the views before heading off to Archorage Rd. TFTCSF
We came yesterday to attempt this but it was late in the day and there was too many people taking far too much interest in our "stealthy" behavior. The boys decided an early morning caching run was in order making picking up this cache an easier proposition! TFTC

On my drive out to the island it was turnout out to be a fantastic day. It was around lunch time when I made the walk down to GZ. The sun was shining and the sky's were a beautiful blue with a few clouds. First I had to find my way to the boardwalk since I somehow managed to park in the staff car park. It was a beautiful walk down to GZ with all the seagulls scattering the ground as there trying to find a mate. At GZ I felt things did not look right and I checked the cache page to see things have changed a lot. I did the process of working it out again with the new info and after some time I had a good GZ. At GZ I found the local council works find this is a nice place for the lunch break and I decided to do the same. I head back to the visitors center and order there bargain $5.50 fish and chips. I enjoyed the fantastic view and posted about it on google plus before trying my luck at GZ again. This time I was free to make the find. My last NDC puzzle except the final. Soon I will have done all the caches on the island and will need to find other excuses to come and visit this fantastic place. TFTC
I was on the island today and was going to finish what I started on the Monday - an island caching run. I managed to get here on the Monday but ran out of time to go and find the cache. Some of the clue-resources had been removed or changed, and a resident penguin seemed to have taken exception to the previous cache, so cache has been replaced at a slightly different spot, and clues updated accordingly.
This one proved to be a disaster. With Tank47 and muggle company we did the search for clues only to be caught in a downpour and soaked to the skin despite wearing "spray" jackets. After a quick dry and a cuppa we headed out again only to find that our co-ords were wrong despite them being in a feasible location. Hmnnn, only option was to "phone a friend" and with some info head to the real GZ. Once there the cache would not reveal itself despite much effort on our behalf. Although it may have been muggled as there is evidence of new work in the area. Thanks hell+back and I still have my cold!
With KI Bug on our "Not Drowning" caching weekend, we were not happy with our calculations for GZ. rang the cache owner and found that an important item had been replaced and the required information is no longer available, then with the required information we headed to GZ. On arrival we noticed there had been some fence works done and we could not find the cache, we informed the cache owner of our findings, thanks hell+back for the trip.
Suscoe found this one after some speculation.
Met Wally 3450 at the Nobbies and had a nice chat.
Always nice to meet a fellow cacher in the field.
Any way after a few barriers were put up in our way finally the barriers were removed and off we went. (Three days later!)
Found the cache after a bit of searching.
Thanks to hell+back for a good challenge.

Good hunt for this one and enough clues to get there in the end. Dropped off a Travel Bug for those in the hunt - on line and on the ground!
After a visit to the busy Nobbies centre this was the last stop before the penguin parade. The back roads were fun, nobody around at all.

Having the required information with us it wasn't that long after we arrived at wpt1 that we had a set of co-ordinates so we headed off there. Today it was such a beautiful afternoon that we decided to walk rather than drive to gz. It's defiantely a much better way to enjoy the coastline than from a fast moving car. Once at gz the cache was located quickly and the log duly signed
Thanks once more for the cache

This was another cache that I'd visited before - only to find (not find!) that it had been muggled. At least I knew the way, but was a bit stressed to find that I was tail-end charlie on a little convoy that, I was sure, was going to stop at GZ and prevent me from searching. Luckily, they continued on and I had the place to myself and was able to make an easy find. The drama wasn't over though, as I stopped to take a few pictures and another convoy rolled up and, to make way for them, I headed off to my next cache at Shelley Beach and got there to find I had no GPSr!!! I quickly zoomed back around to this one and was most relieved to find the new visitors were still there (along with about a dozen new ones) and my GPSr was still sitting on top of one of the posts. Phew!!

Thanks again Hell+Back

Took bouncy ball Left ???
Walked around the Nobbies boardwalks afterwards and saw a few penguins at the "door" of their burrows!!

Had yummy hot chocolates at the cafe afterwards

Found by Mary & David at 1420. Loved this one. A chance for Mary to boost her caffeine intake as well. We too can remember the days long before the current Visitors Center was built. Great views at each step of the way. Again, our thanks to Hell+Back.
cache had disappeared (didn't realise penguins shared our enthusiasm for caching!) . It's been replaced in a slightly different spot, away from the penguin thoroughfare, but still at the same co-ordinates
I enjoyed the drive along the clifftops and stopped at the obvious looking GZ - but a good search in the area indicated by the hint failed to turn up a cache. I'm sure I was at the right spot as there was evidence of earlier searchers. On reading the logs, I didn't get the reference to changed clues (I solved all these puzzles back when they first came out) but I'd checked the co-ords using Evince before I came here, so I'm assuming I was at the right place - in which case, I'm pretty sure the cache is gone (unless it's been moved as a result of the changed clues?).
Thanks anyway Hell+Back

I thoroughly enjoyed spending quite a lot of time at GZ relaxing, taking in the sea air and watching the sea mist roll in - especially since I was the only person there. Then a tour bus arrived! – my duty being the group photographer, then it was back to relaxing and taking in that sea air again… Anyway, I found the cache quite easily – and luckily too, because feathered friends roost there! I grabbed Lava12’s Poppie Micro Geocoin, and TB Parts is Parts (which hadn’t been formally logged into this cache). LN & SL at 2:20pm. Thanks Hell+Back for the cache. This then concludes my current run of NDC cache finds. I’ve really enjoyed the ones I’ve found so far, and I look forward to returning and hopefully completing the set sometime. The effort you have put into your caches has not gone unnoticed! Best regards, 38degsouth.
Drop/retrieve of TB Parts is Parts (TB55D2) to correct it's history and mileage...
Clues changed so you can't cheat any more - it's a fantastic view & I want you to enjoy it!
Found at 4.45pm GAFF4. Had no idea of what the clues meant at first, until we mentioned it to someone who just happened to know all about the subject - thank goodness for that. We then nearly committed the unthinkable by starting to WALK from the Nobbies kiosk to the cache! A sudden stop after 10 metres when we realised that there was a track that took you right to the cache - whew! Thanks Hell+Back - you certainly have a great imagination with all of your puzzles.
