Training for Oxfam, as a previous finder I obviously found myself going past this spot. Quickly checked the hiding spot and it wasn't there. Judging by the previous log the cache is probably nearby. Might need looking at to restore this one to its former glory.
Found on our Oxfam training walk. "What's that on the ground? One of your geo thingys?" asked Sarah. And so it is! Hid as best we could. Two fun adventures: oxfam 100k trailwalk and geocaching. Thank you for the excuse for a quick break!
Travelling around Melbourne on a little caching spree with skullracing. To be honest I don't remember anything about this cache as I didn't write down my notes for some reason. I do know that I had a great day caching and there wasn't any cache I didn't like. Thanks for the fun 'Ric the Adventurer'
#5310 Such a lovely area we couldn't resist a cruise around with Coruze . Hailing from "up north" we weren't aware of the events that Oxfam hold in Melbourne but after meeting several southern teams there are many in training for the upcoming event in May this year. A fantastic effort to all who participate - well done! We had a little trouble locating the best access point to the cache but found one that lived up to the terrain rating . The cache was found well hidden and in good condition. Our thanks to Ric the Adventurer for bringing us here & highlighting a worthy cause. Cheers [^]
The cache is very close to the camp Geodaughter's choir uses, so I've been close many times. Today, I allowed myself an extra hour to hike up to the cache before I was due to pickup said daughter.
I zig-zagged up the hill to make the grade a little less steep. The cache was a nice easy find.
Thanks Ric the Adventurer, great cache in a top spot.

A lovely day to be in this part of the world .
On the way up the hill I spotted a roo which was a pleasant surprise for me.
Cheers Ric the Adventurer, thanks for bringing me here and for helping me fill a gap in the D/T grid. Oh, and I don't think that anyone has yet found a use for that 10A fuse as it's still in there after all these years .

Out with geokid and two little geofriends - tackled the Hill of Pain and rewarded at the top with a nice cache. Took a TB and swapped marbles, hawks wrist band and coins for a simpsons toy. Beautiful views whilst we caught our breathe and then fun running and rolling back down the hill! TFTC
Walked past this place before, never knew there was a cache so close.

Dropped off a TB. Will do some maintenance to the hide at my next visit.
Found with Niftynevau on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. After driving around the streets for a while we actually approached this from above which meant we didn't need to climb that hill. Lucky as Nifty tends to lose his breath!!! Clever hide. TFTC
Like others below I needed this for the D/T rating. Today we were visiting JMelb's mum, not too far away. I took the opportunity to slip out and find this while JMelb was helping her mum with some cleaning. No trouble getting to Gz and found the cache in the first spot I looked. Thanks Ric the Adventurer

Made the find during my sons football match this morning. While he was on the bench for a quarter I ducked off and jogged most of the way to the gz. Signed the log, puff puff and made it back in time to see the end of the quarter. Thanks Ric the Adventurer for the cache, and the chance to warm up on such a frosty morning.
I wanted to find this one today to fill in one of my D/T squares so out I went after the drizzle had finally stopped from going all morning. Parked nearby and made my way to the cache which I found in a couple of minutes after looking in a few wrong spots. Just as I got back to the car the rain started again. TFTC Ric.

That's the finishing time of our this year's Oxfam Trailwalker Team. Jim, Josie, Adriaan and I were the Geocaching team on the trail this year and it was nice to see that the geocaching volunteers were keeping an eye for us at the checkpoints.
This very hill wasn't too bad since we were only half-way into the trail however i hit the wall soon after. What kept me going was Ben Phillips and his mates who were right in front of me: Ben is blind and he's on the trail for the third time.
... and of course: Nurofen+ helps as well

Decided to take the easy way but we took the wrong road and ended up at a dead end. Some blokes came out a house and asked if we were caching as they had got a lot of people down their street looking for access to the cache. After a decent chat and them telling us it wasn't there we asked about the oxfam walk and the hill and they realized where it might be. they then gave us some directions for the easy way and told us they will have to try it soon (they had the app but thought it was in a different spot) we then followed there direction and made a very easy find for a 3.5 T cache. TFTC
Initially we haed down the wrong road and got talking to the guys who lived in the house down the end of the street. They asked if we were caching and said the cache wasnt there and they'd looked a few times for it already. We thought we'd try a different root to GZ and made a very easy find in the end.

Actually a nice easy find on a quick caching run in the morning before work. A little bit of local knowledge made this cache the easiest 3.5T cache I've done before. I was down as a back-up member for the Oxfam walk two years ago. I trained quite extensively for it, but in the end I wasn't required to actually do it (of which I am secretly glad!) Nice innovative hide, enjoyed it! A favourite point from me!
Parked in the cricket oval carpark, and walked up the disintegrating track to the Hill Of Pain. It wasn't so bad and was over after a few minutes, just a short little burst of energy needed. Found the cache and just as quickly made my way back down the hill, to attempt the other cache in the area.
Oops, forgot to log this one and have since forgotten when I found it! Oh well, a nice easy cache late one Sunday afternoon. Probably back in February. No muggles around. The CFA guys were practicing in the park below.
I won't lie, I thought I was clever to remove the pain aspect from this cache, only to ignore the obvious GZ and get some blackberry pain in my leg. TFTC
Found this today with Landau351.
I had decided that I wasn't going up that hill. So I waited down at the bottom. But I'd forgotten that I am much much fitter than I used to be, so I thought I'd give it a try.
A bit of puffing and a couple of rests on the way up, I made it ! And even found the cache !

20/10/2012 14:34 Carl and I are off on a nice day caching with wonderful this weather. I nice east run through the Lilydale-Wandin area. Initially Carl was reluctant to go near this one as the hill looked real steep. I saw that it was steep but not hard to climb as it is quite open. At gZ I was amazed to see the myriad of trails that lead from here and assume you could go walking for miles in all sorts of directions. I even saw a dad with three small kids coming down the hill. As I am putting on some extra weight I was puffing after the climb and sat to rest a bit and also stamp the log. I was surprised to hear my name being called out from just down the hill and found Carl had decided to come up anyway. Good work on getting up that hill. I'm glad I had brought water with me! This is a nice challenge and not too tough. TFTC Ric the Adventurer TNLN SL
I was in a bit of pain, not from walking up the hill- I came in the easy way, but couldn't pin down the location of the cache, despite being just there.
Called geo husband for help, and he wandered up and said "Look there".
DOH, found it.
Called geo husband for help, and he wandered up and said "Look there".
DOH, found it.
We went up the hill, we went down the hill, we went over the fence. We found the cache. Then went back to the car the easy way.
Once again, our talent for finding the hard way to a cache shone. As Jacimarble said, we went up, down, found the cache then wandered back to the car the easy way!

Very wet outside, just the sort of weather to keep the muggles away. Picked up the frog TB.
I was interested to find this cache having done the Trailwalker in 2008. Came here today with lobster, essieg and raffa. A nice spot, good to be back in the area. Thanks Tic.
Took the Geowife and Geodog for a walk. Decided to drop off Frog T.B.

Made it here in my lunchbreak but I'll be late to work again...D/T combination is a lure.
Did a quick check of GZ to ensure all was in order. Came across a couple of Oxfamer's doing a training walk. Had a quick chat and wished them well on their travels.
Dropped of T.B. found in N.Z on a recent trip.

A rather steep climb up from the footy ground but an easy find once at GZ. TNL ram TFTC Ric the adventurer
I had decided to take a day off from work (being such a wonderful day) and try for 50 finds in a day. Ultimately it was not to be for many reasons, including a few DNF's, the need to pick the kids up from school, and some difficult caches. In any event a good day was had by jsmyong55 and myself and this was one cache we were able to find.
This one slowed us down to a crawl. A nice spot though where the cache was quickly found. thanks Ric.

Trailrunning had asked me a couple of days before if I was free on Friday for a run. I had classes till early afternoon but once he told me its his birthday and he will be aiming for a 50 cache run, I knew I had to have a go at that, eventhough if it meant skipping class.
Aiming for a 50 cache run with only 7.5 hours was a little too ambitious. Of course we did not manage 50 but I got to about 35 which was pretty good. We had started off well in the start, but a couple of long trail runs, heavy bushwhacking and off-trail hiking really threw us off. It was a lot better slowing things down and enjoying the adventure than racing for time.
Oh such a pain to walk up the hill. But once at GZ this was an easy find by trailrunning. TFTC

Found whilst in the area with covert on a late night caching run, I spotted this one on my list as a required D/T combo and we were soon parked up at an access point allowing an easy walk to GZ.. I've helped out twice in the past trailmarking 2 stages for the Oxfam aswell as supporting a team or two.. well done on finishing the walk, an achievment I'd like to make someday. #1492
This cache was the reason I trekked all the way out from Oakleigh where I'm staying for the week.
It's the second last cache i need to complete my 4x4 D/T matrix so I can complete my new years caching resolution. It's a surprisingly rare combination that apart from one of my own cache does exist with 300 km of my home,
I sympathise with the thought of walking up this very steep hill at the end of a days walk
Thanks

Found on another legendary night caching run with my best mate Marty (Quasar3671). Yeah, hill of pain indeed.... It was the "Thigh Master" of the night. Started off pretty flat, then got steeper, and steeper, and steeper.... Finally got there, phew.... Worth it though. TFTC.
Out on a night caching run with my mate Marshy (Blacklegend), which took us up into the Dandenong Ranges for the night. The name says it all. The start of the track was wet and slippery, then we came to the wet grass and soggy ground that went right to the top of the hill. A descent hike up the hill and we had a breather before finding the cache. A real thigh master and a great spot and thanks for the hide.
Stopped by to check that all was still OK with the cache. While I was there I thought I would drop of a T.B. that I found up at Beechworth.
Happy Geocaching!

Out for the day grabbing some T/D ratings I needed. I followed TomTom's instructions and stopped when I ran out of road. Grabbed the Garmin oregon and looked at the screen.. 20 meters. That's not right. thought it was stuck on Navigate by road, nope. I then re-entered the coordinates, I must of got it wrong, nope.. Walked 20 meters, signed log. Looked down, "ah that's what I was meant to do". TFTC
Well thanks a lot for this cache Ric the Adventurer. It took me a few attempts to find a way to access this cache. Phew I made it up this hill! Great hide. I took the giraffe and left the santa sack.

Found after a nice walk in the sun! Took brown snake and signed book!! Songdog and Cammo!
This cache was my reason for being out caching today. I needed to pick up this Terrain and difficulty combination and the others in the state are miles away. I was expecting some pain myself for this cache and came prepared with water bottles and snacks. I'm not sure where I was meant to park for this cache, and I am sure I did something wrong, as I ended up being able to park within 20 meters of the cache. I really feel like I cheated! but I can tell you I think the caching gods made me pay for this one later in the day, when I was doing some 'easier' caches the wrong way and had to climb some similarly steep hills to this one, but with more trees, prickles and rocks. Thanks for the cache Ric the Adventurer, good hide!

Stopped by the cache to make sure that all is well. Harry Huntsman appears to have found a new home. Dropped off two travel bugs.
We'd tried a road shown in the Melways that was no good but I'm glad I stopped Robmc before we had to walk in the long way and pointed out another road that led right to GZ. As to the huntsman Oenze mentioed a while back and Robmc was alluding to, he wasn't home so nothing to sook about overall.

I have some experience of long distance walking (up to 75km in 24 hours on a couple of occasions ) so can empathise with the owner on the effort, the pain, the relief, and the strange desire to do it again!
At gz the location was familiar from a bushwalk, and the cache was in the first place that I looked. Sans spider I am pleased to say . It must have understood English! Thanks Ric for the good cache placement and the story.
