I had tried to get this cache years ago but never managed to produce any sensible coordinates. Back then, I was very poor at solving puzzles of this nature and, ... well ..., I am not much better now.
Before having another attempt, I had a read of the previous logs. The first thing I noticed was that it seems that very few people have managed to find this cache in the intended way. Secondly, by putting two and two and two and two together, I was able to feel fairly confident about where the cache was hidden. Using Google Earth, I checked the coordinates for that site and discovered only two significant digits varied from what I had earlier calculated.
Today, I had intended to start afresh and re-work the whole puzzle but I couldn't find the plaque (I must have last time) so that put paid to that plan. So, I just headed to where I thought the treasure was hidden and made a relatively quick find.

Have looked at this one several times, and have never been successful in finding the plaque. However as I drove past yesterday noticed a very likely location for the hide, so stopped by in the quiet if the night and after a brief search found what I was after. TFTC
Cache # 4,081 - I had tried for this one several times before, calculating out finals in multiple locations, but it was only when a previous finder gave me a hint that I ignored my previous calculations and went searching in a likely location. Found this morning after the first big rain, but while it was still quiet, after a short but wet search. Was supposed to be a new logbook, but this was obviously the original logbook. Nice to make this a non-lonely cache now, and very happy to turn the sad face into a smilie. TNLNSL. TFTC!

I had been to the signs/plaque/trees twice, and the two possible coordinates I took from them both looked really unlikely. But I decided to give them a go today, and discovered a very interesting walkway I never knew existed. One of the coordinates was obviously off, as it was up a steep hill on private property. The other looked quite probable as I got closer, but actual coordinates also looked on private property. There was a very strong hint object nearby, so checked it out thoroughly, but no luck. I returned to the main coordinates to re-do my calculations for a third time, and think I might have found something I missed before. However, the plaque which was there previously (and is needed for the first question) is gone.
Armed with some new data and possibilities, I will be back, and looking in a completely new place.

I tried to solve this some time ago but left it as I could not find the plaque.
Was passing by very early this morning and remembered this one as it was quiet on the traffic front. Went to look for this one based on the clue and very fortunately it was the first place I searched. TFTC

I had attempted to solve this quite some time ago, but didn't really get anywhere and as it turned out, I had misread one of the clues and was holding onto an answer that didn't make sense. I was passing by today on the way to another cache when I remembered that I had this saved as a field puzzle so pulled over and got to work. I couldn't find the plaque (the bus shelter appears to be a recent addition?), but with what I had I worked out a range of possible solutions. None of them looked to be any good so I tweaked a value and got somewhat closer but I was still not happy. I tried a different tack which seemed to be similar to GSEL's approach and soon found myself in a seemingly appropriate area and after a short search I had my hands on the cache. TFTC
Struggled with the clues but came up with coordinates which looked sensible so investigated and was pleasantly surprised to find they fitted the hint and comments in the logs perfectly.
Had a hunt around but no luck. Felt very exposed. Will have to take a longer more thorough look some other time.
Note that at the time of writing part of Middleton Rd is closed from Johnsonville north owing to slips but GZ is accessible from the other end.

I'd gathered the information and worked the numbers while sitting in the nearby bus stop, but a couple of the questions are somewhat ambiguous and the results I got didn't inspire any confidence. At home later I reworked the numbers from my photographs and tried some variations but still didn't feel confident I had what I needed. Then I read through the logs and found one that gave a very clear steer to a location I hadn't come up with from my arithmetic. Looking at the numbers again I could arrive at that location by adjusting just one digit, and it seemed to match the hint. This morning I had a quick find, but I don't really understand how I should have arrived at that digit.

Found on my geocaching day. Did not know how to find two of the correct answers but managed to guess them. Thanks form Prague =D
Had an idea of where this one would be and I managed to get my answers to line up. Off I went to GZ but it took a while to find the cache, in about the last possible place to check! TFTC
Found it. The hint was necessary. I didn't find the clues helpful - questions a bit ambiguous in some cases. Also quite public.
Thanks for the hint! Made for a quick find all nice and dry and in good condition just watch out for the beetles :p
#840. Out for a mornings geocaching after the torrential downpours yesterday. Got to the display board and discovered I had forgotten to upload the cache description on the GPS. Fool! So took some photos of the board but missed seeing the plaque. I had a bit of an idea where the final would be so headed off humming a certain tune and started the search. The obvious sites didn't help me so started to look elsewhere. Then I saw a possible place and sure enough the cache was found. First time I have managed that without solving the puzzle first. Signed log. All dry and OK. Put back in place and away. Later at home I worked through the puzzle answers from the photos taken and could get most numbers worked out (except for two of them). Might have been enough to find the cache although my answers didn't quite pinpoint where the cache was found. TFTC
Like others I struggled with answers I was confident with. Tried searching the area which matched the hint perfectly, but couldn't turn up the cache unfortunately.
This one had me stumped - some of the answers were open to interpretation and tried one set coords with no luck. Got another set which looked more promising but nothing again at gz. This area has been recently cleared and planted but then I see it was found only a few days ago. Have to try another day.
Found it on an excursion to Tawa.. Hint was most helpful as our co-ords were a bit out..
The required coordinates were a bit out to start (I think I must have had one of the numbers wrong-and where I was initially searching i know which one). Was then wondering back to GZ and hint suddenly became clear. Quickly found in between dodging cars. TFTC.
TFTC. No 60 of the 75 needed for the monthly MGSC challenge and no 7 of the 10 day 'unknown' type streak. I had problems with the number of trees in boxes, one seems to have gone, but tried various options until something made sense.
First co-ords had us a long way away so a recheck and apply logic gave us a better location. As we had been hanging around the area for a while we decided to drop back later. This time it was almost a park and grab, cache was soon located, signed and rehid. TFTC.
Had trouble with one of the numbers, it took us a long way away . Tried a spot where we thought it would be- bingo! TFTC -GC
Found during a spot of Sat arvo caching in this area. All very pleasant too.
Solved the puzzle in a fairly straightforward way, off to GZ. A bit of a hunt ensued but cache was to hand reasonably promptly.
All in order, signed the log and re-hid cache safely, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

Could not work out the number of culverts in the puzzle to get the final location correct, but ended up finding the cache after a short search using the clue. All contents still dry after the big rain last night. Cheers for that!
When you spot a couple of people, Garmin Montana in hand in the bushes in the middle of a traffic island, you just know there is a cache there, and so there was.

Straight forward with a relatively quick find of the cache on a gorgeous sunny afternoon. TFTC
Got all the numbers for this one, was still a tough find a gz & happy to get the smiley face. Thanks for the cache Yeetrees
We thought we found all the numbers, although we had some doubts with some, and they took us to a location consistent with the hint, but unfortunately we didn’t manage to find the cache.
4306. Found after a bit of thought and a long search. Never did find the plaque and am not sure about the answer to the culvert question. An interesting and enjoyable cache nevertheless. Investigated "We need trees" on the internet when back home. Thanks, Rodney.
Met friendly muggle from revegetation group who I have helped before and knows about the cache. No help from him, so solved old school. Nice enjoyable fun in the sun. TFTC

Went out on a limb when my botanical knowledge proved lacking but thankfully found GZ quickly. If only I could get the clue song out of my head now ...
Mrs 1Grunta solved the puzzle a couple of weeks ago. Just needed to fix a couple of numbers, and grab the cache.

#2494. We happened to be passing today (a week after Troodles found the cache) so we stopped so I could find it too. Good spot for a cache.
Yup, trees are good, as long as they are appropriate for the location. Silver birches and eucalyptus trees on small city sections are not good, though.
Interesting wee plaque, took a few minutes to spot it.
I stuffed up in my answers but after consulting the hint, found the well hidden cache in the first place I looked - phew.

Solved the questions quickly this morning. A tidy up was scheduled here this afternoon so lucky I came by reasonably early this morning.
Cache took a bit of looking but turned it up in the end.

Puzzled completed sometime ago, so time to take this on of the unfound list. TFTC
Started this cache last year and had noted all the answers down, but then why I hadn't gone the next step and calculated the final position to then go and locate, I can't say. Oh well, that has been remedied this afternoon. A quick drop by had the cache in hand in no time at all. Log was notated with visit. Have put the log in a zip lock bag to protect it (for winter) as it didn't have any protection.
Totally agree with the title of this cache - The environment (earth, air and people) needs way more trees!! TFTC

Note to self - Possibly Friday evenings at around 6:30pm may not have been a great time to attempt this as there was quite a lot of traffic around the gz at this time. However I went into full stealth mode and came up with a quick find in between the cars.

Foggy day to find some caches. Didn't matter though cause we found it and a big weta along with it.
Went and checked on the cache while passing though, found cache quickly, it had moved a few millimetres, BUT I have placed it back into its nice little hiding spot to keep the trees company. All good now, HAPPY HUNTING.
No luck finding this. 'island' has been has new bark put on it, so has this hidden the cache?
#351. We assumed (incorrectly) that all questions were to be answered from information on the board. This put our initial GZ a fair distance away. Once we refined our answers (from having a look around) we found the cache to be much closer. SL, TFTC, -gc
Quickly found after solving puzzle. A nice piece of local history too. TNLN TFTC Cheers!
Had great fun with this one - brought some new cachers with us & they were hooked too. Good fun solving the clues although the number of cordylines in wooden cages had us wandering the wrong way !!

Can't have gotten all the collected info right (suspect that culvert number my be the problem) and ran out of time to search further (9yo daughter wanted to head home, it was about 8pm), so will try again for this one another time.
Found it on my second visit.
I still didn't have the correct coordinates, but I was close enough. Not sure which question I have answered incorrectly.
Nice location.
Thanks.

An interesting area that will look good in the next few years. Quick find at GZ. TFTC
A very busy road. Had a spot of bother with the number of culverts, but common sense prevailed and the real area was obvious. Master gonefishing laid his hands on it after bit of a search.

A straightforward find once I remembered to count the hands as well as the trees on the Tajeran plaque - also tossed up whether or not a leptospermum should be considered as a tree or not but got this one correct. Finding the final was quick and easy once I had the coordinates right. Signed log, TFTC and for giving me the insight into this worthwhile project.
We found this one using PB's devious geocaching sixth sense. We would have had to stop in the exact stop of the info panel anyway to avoid running over a small dog that was escaping from its boy. We held our breaths as it ran arcross that very busy road with no human to be seen, then a young lad came hurrying down the hill in pursuit.
We liked this cache and the project very much, being involved with a similar one back home, so thanks for bringing us to this spot. TNLN

we grabbed the coordinates for the cache on the way to feed our sister's cat while she's away - pinetree did the checking and loaded the coords into the gps on the way back.

So many questions! Luckily CrystalFairy and Grmblzmpf did all the hard work for me. Left something, I think it was a Grimace statuette, took glass bead. TFTC : )
Spent some time at the info board but finally discovered that working with the hint would have been good enough... TFTC!
Quite a bit of reading and calculations to be done.. But loved the "final" location.. Very sneaky.. Very long walk to get to the final
Culvet counting required some lateral thinking, but we chose appropriately. Quite a few rocks, aren't there?

Nice stroll around, close to sister's house. 3 generations of Stringers/Middletons and 4 GPSr's! We got confused about the number of culverts but some rationalisation led to the find in a few minutes. TFTC

Can't remember whether it was this weekend or the one before, but fun answering the questions.

Saw this one pop up last night, and my closest unfound at that but managed to avoid the fever by going to bed and taking a rest. Also could of got up early and grabbed on my way to work, but alas, still resting [|)] No excuse not to make the small detour on my way home from work tonight though and find this one.
Managed to find out a bit about the plaque, and the Iranian cyclist involved before leaving work and found it very interesting. Also did a quick refresher on those botanical names just to be sure I was well prepared
Answers found and a quick cruise up Wingfield Place, and then off to find the cache, a good wee hide, and loved the clue [^]
