15-Jun-19
Solved this one earlier in the week, but no luck here today.

14-Feb-19
This has to be one of the worst sites for muggles in Wellington. Seven visits and always muggles near GZ each time I pull up. Today the muggles were a bit further off so managed to get 5 minutes to search before 3 more carloads showed up. Nothing found in the most obvious spot. Clearly the camo is doing its bit as it defeated me. Maybe my 14th visit will be the lucky one.

18-Nov-18
Very very windy and No muggles so I had plenty of time to hunt around at GZ. Sadly i couldn't spot it. Sad

21-Oct-18
Talking with TheWanglers, an age ago it seems; that if WENZ made Mega we should look at taking a daytrip up from Christchurch to visit.....It did; and as it worked out - we could. So here we are. Early morning flight in, and a late afternoon flight out. A day trip full of fun, caches, dodgy parking...and more fun.
Late afternoon and heading towards the airport- time for a last few caches before returning the car and flying home.
Gave it a good nudge but didn't find anything - I presume too camo'd for me! Dogs and cars arrived so moved on...I did like the whirligig!

13-Aug-18
Took longer than it might have, solving the puzzle on a phone on a moving bus added to the challenge.

13-Apr-18
Have spent longer than I wanted to hunting this one and another car has just driven up so time to move on to the next one. Thanks for the puzzle, luckily I didn't go cross eyed solving it.

24-Jan-18
I took my youngest son up to Wellington in the camper van. I dropped him off at his friend's house where he will stay. Meanwhile I get to geocache and be on standby.
After staying at Greytown and spending another day in the Wairarapa, it was time to head to The Hutt area.
After staying at the top 10 this series was my mission. I biked the recycle cycle cache track this morning now it's time to pick up my son and take him to the airport.
I dropped my son at the airport and now I need to pick up my husband. I really enjoyed the puzzle.

Thanks. Yeetrees for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find for me.

11-Nov-17
#438. Hat-trick! Three Yeetrees Mysteries found three days running. Solved this one only last night, and quick park 'n' grab this morning before watching grandson play cricket at St Pats College. Another dot day done too. Tftc Yeetrees.

17-Oct-17
I had a few unfound solved puzzle caches in my to-do pile for Wellington. I decided to take the scenic route from Plimmerton to this cache which meant travelling on roads not normally frequented by me.[:o)]Red Face I passed a few trads on the way to this one.

I had solved this one just over 7 years ago and it was definitely time it was signed off. A brilliant day for a walk along Evans Bay.

Cheers for the cache.

09-Sep-17
I solved this many many moons ago, but have not been in the area and able to stop and look until today. I recall it was a reasonably easy solve at the time. A nice quick find today, with the cache in good dry condition. TFTC Smile

07-Sep-17
Solved a little while ago. Decided to retrieve this today. Parked up at Evans Bay marina and strolled to the gz. Talk about breezy. I just about lost my toupee. It was nice to see the aircraft bouncing around on takeoff. A quick find. All in order. Thanks for the puzzle.

22-Feb-17
Solved the puzzle at home.
Today we made a nice walk around the bay and logged not only this one.
TFTC

05-Oct-16
Found this one shortly after a previous Whirligig cache. The tower was fully lit up, even though I didn't think it was that windy. Parked about as close as possible to the cache. Will definitely need to wash my car tomorrow as it was getting covered in a bit of sea spray. Searched a few spots where I thought it was but to no avail. Kept searching and quickly had the cache in hand. Signed logbook but poked my eye (which really hurt) when returning the cache. TFTC.

24-Sep-16
Puzzle solved back in January 2015 and today had the opportunity to find at last. Quick search and find. Thanks for puzzle and cache.

17-Aug-16
B found it after a few minutes. My GPS showed it about 5m away. Cache in good condition. TFTC

17-Aug-16
Cute puzzle, GZ took a bit longer! TFTC.

11-Aug-16
All good here, TFTC

08-Jul-16
My second find while waiting for the offspring to finish her Saturday morning activity. This took a little longer to find than Whirligigs#2, but everything is safe and in good order. TFTC

05-Jun-16
Just about gave up but cache is well snuggled and healthy. TFTC

24-May-15
Another in the series solved a while back. Picked up along with Whirligigs 4 today (disappointed that Whirligigs2 is currently out of commission). TFTC

Cache # 2,471 - a very breezy morning for a walk in the dark, but at least it wasn't raining. Smile Quick solve of the puzzle last night and a grab this morning to keep my mystery streak going with the cache for the day. TNLNSL. Cache in great shape. TFTC!

08-Apr-15
Zero muggles around when it's dark windy and pouring rain! Wanted to find at least one, did the maze at home then headed out.

08-Apr-15
Now that it gets darker earlier it's a bit tricky to find caches after work. On the plus side no one was around. Good fun and a nice spot (even in the rain) . Tftc.

22-Mar-15
Cache all in good area, spot popular so a wet day helped and as it is my favourite of the wind sculptures worthy of a fav.

22-Mar-15
My old-man eyes struggled with the numbers on this but all sorted quickly and then a quick find with TregearP on a wet Sunday afternoon.

TFTC.

02-Mar-15
Got there in the end with the puzzle, final was a quick find, thanks for the cache! Smile

02-Mar-15
Very nice place for a cache Smile Second time I've been along here in the past two days having just got another puzzle cache! Oh well, loved the walk, TFTC

26-Dec-14
Wow those numbers are tiny! Eventually managed to tease out some coords, and thankfully they were pretty spot-on. Nice to see this structure close up too. It's hard to see it if is lit during the day or not. Thanks.

24-Sep-14
Finally! Tftc

24-Sep-14
Quick find with Miss Wicm Junior after school. TFTC!

08-Sep-14
Muggled by water-skiiers for the third day in a row! Don't they have anything better to do with their day than hang about outside when it's sunny? [;D] I'll leave it for a few days and try again soon.

19-Aug-14
Got to have good eyes for this puzzle but cache was found without too much squinting. TFTP

02-Aug-14
A'maze'ing find this morning. Puzzle solved yesterday and cache grabbed on way to nearby event. The related whirlygig was well lit up today with the gales. Will add photo when can. Rescued TB that has been stuck for a couple of months. Replaced with another. TFTP and TFTC.

01-Jun-14
Just quick visit to give 1 mystery coin inside.

03-May-14
Thanks, nice the puzzle.

23-Apr-14
Quick find!

17-Mar-14
My chosen cache of the day for the first day in thwe working week, having found the Whirligigs 2 cache last week (whatever happened to Whirligigs 1?). I solved the maze puzzle last week, with the biggest challenge being actually reading the digits embedded within it! My black and white printout was hopeless, so had to resort to comparing my track on paper with the colour representation of the unsolved mazes on screen to get the correct answer.

Today it was nice and windy so a good time to have a lunchtime walk along Cobham Drive. The rotor was rotating nicely, but I am afraid I couldn't see any lights. Either my eyes are failing (although I could see eveything else) or the mechanism that makes them light up is broken, or perhaps they don't light during daylight? Never mind, at least I found the cache and the muggle car that turned up nearby after I started looking was facing the wrong way to spot and wonder about a Geocacher being furtive. TFTC Yeetrees

Cache #64

Nice quick easy puzzle and find.

Dated and Signed.

Thanks for the Cache!
06/10 Challenge ? Streak - Growing Well-rounded Cachers

07-Dec-13
Second visit here. First time the muggles held the upper hand and we took discretion to be the better part of valour. We retreated with our honour intact. This time we were well alone. Perhaps the blistering gale force northerly had something to do with it - there being no doubt that all the rings on the light tower were well ablaze today.
We made harder work of the find than we should have. That happens, and we were somewhat thrown by some misinformation that proved to be absolutely not what it is.
Cache in order, log signed; safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too Big Grin
The Turtle strikes again!

02-Nov-13
I like maze puzzles! I have found a rather interesting way of solving them, but I'm not going to share Smile.

Went to GZ on my morning run on a spectacular Wellington day! Once there, it was a straight forward find. TFTC.

02-Oct-13
After braving 50+ knot blasts of wind and spray as I walked from where I had parked the cachemobile at the Evans Bay MarinaI it was disappointing having to forego searching for the cache due a pair of muggles sitting in their parked vehicle facing GZ from just 20m away. Sad So it back to being blasted all the way back to the marina.

28-Sep-13
#202. Muggled by fozzmeister! Nice to meet you Smile TFTC Yeetrees

24-Sep-13
Solved last night, and the last of the series for me. Tftc

04-Aug-13
(607) In Wellington for the day, so decided to grab some caches while in the area. TFTPC. Had a hour before flying out of Wellington, so decided to pick this one up since I had solved it prior to my visit to the capital.

04-Jan-13
Thanks for the walk

20-Dec-12
Have solved the puzzle several times, but this time I actually had them loaded onto the GPS when making our Christmas visit to Wellington. Called by for a quick find. We do enjoy this piece of coastline and now all the artwork.
TFTC

15-Dec-12
Been sitting in the solved pile for sometime now so with the youngest at a Futsal tournament up at the Indian Sports Complex it was the perfect opportunity to wander over and hunt it out. Made a circuit of the GZ before diving in at the most probable location. Ah ha whats this, a "uniquely camo'ed" cacheWink. Log signed it was secreted back to its spot. TFTP & C

27-Sep-12
TFTC. It was great to do this cache, I liked this simple style of puzzle - time not brains needed here. The wind was mild, so only two rings alight on the tower.

29-Jul-12
After scrabbling around for some time, we realised we had not entered the puzzle-solution coordinates. Once done, we went straight to the cache. Third one of these completed today. TFTSeries!

01-Jul-12
Glad to get this one ticked off. I had solved the puzzle a while ago and looked a couple of times at GZ without success. This time I was determined not to leave until I had the cache in hand and persistence paid off. I had checked the spot before but obviously not hard enough. TFTC

14-Mar-12
Found you where I thought I would. Wonder why it took the return trip? TFTP

That was a fairly painless solve - other than mindlessly shading in while listening to telly last night.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to pick it up during a one-day trip the Wellington next weekend when I drop off elder daughter to uni.

11-Jan-12
FINALLY! This has been one of those nemesis caches for me. First tried to solve the puzzle about 6 months ago and just couldn't get the tick from geochecker. Yeetrees kindly provided higher resolution images for the puzzle after I asked him at an event. Despite quickly getting the geotick, I just couldn't put my hand on the cache (and was disturbed by a strange ranty muggle). Recent finds prompted me to try again today, and there it was! TFTC

11-Jan-12
Finally!Big Grin have had this puzzle solved for about a year so it is good to get rid of it.

04-Jan-12
Stopped in here the other day without success.
Out collecting info for 'Round the Bays' today, and managed to clean up a few other caches along the way.
Have now found all four Whirligigs, must be time for Yeetrees to make another one. Razz

Took us quite a few goes, it seems the person before us has longer arms than us
Buzzing from cache to cache

24-Oct-11
All the rings of light were active today, glad I wasn't flying. Had to search for a while, but then just reach a bit more... got it. SL TFTC.

24-Oct-11
watched the planes roll and sway while finding this cache. TFTC

24-Oct-11
Have placed some larger images to aid cachers, hope this helps

08-Sep-11
A fairly straight foward find in the dark tonight. There was a bit of a bit of a breeze so all but one of the lights was going. TFTC

23-Jun-11
I have searched unsuccessfully for this once before but it turned out that I hadn't checked my coordinates on the geochecker! Silly mistake as it was a quick find today with the correct ones. I have to say though that for my poor eyes this puzzle was a huge challenge. TFTC #2249

17-Feb-11
Nice find after solving the puzzle a few days ago.

17-Feb-11
Go past everyday but haven't really stopped to look at any of these electronic sculpture type things. TFTC

12-Feb-11
We stopped by while in the area to pick up son from airport, and with a hint from the owner, it was a straightforword find. I'm sure we both looked there last time! Thanks, enjoyed the series.

12-Feb-11
#1953. Easy find today. Don't knw how we missed it last time. TFTC.

05-Feb-11
Our energy reserves were running low by the time we got here (15 caches already found on a drizzly, blustery afternoon). We spent quite some time looking, but had no luck. Bit embarassing to be the first DNF after 50 find have been logged! Will be back for another go once somebody else has found it.

25-Jan-11
Found on a nice night with Virtual Allie. Tftc

24-Jan-11
Maze puzzle way easier when enlarged!! Quick find at the GZ, found with NZLats. TFTC.

30-Dec-10
It took me a little while to work the puzzle out; maybe I should have magnified it first! It also took me a little while to find the cache when I got to GZ. TFTC.

29-Oct-10
Nice sculpture and windy day so not many lights

28-Dec-09
Solved this a while ago - had a bit of trouble finding it TFTC

15-Dec-09
Mission completed: Ticked off all of the Whirligigs caches.
Great series, thanks a lot Yeetrees.

07-Dec-09
Just realised I had not logged this one. Found same day as Whirligigs 2. Took a short search to locate cache - good location, although plenty of rubbish near cache. SL TFTC

22-Nov-09
My first find of a three week trip from Wellington to Auckland. Nice one to start with - pleased to see they do exist in North Island.

03-Nov-09
Solved before arriving in Wellington and very pleased my family gave me time to locate it before flying off again. T4TC

24-Oct-09
Suddenly noted I'd missed logging this one way back when I was known as Bcj97. Found with Bkj97. Sorry about the delay in logging.

24-Oct-09
Solved the maze ages ago and tried a quick look having confirmed co-ords on a miserable day after dropping off friends at the airport. As Bcj97 and I were in the area today and it was calm and sunny I rummaged in the wrong diary for the co-ords and resorted to confirming with owner. We arrived and I noted a change in the area and looked in same place I had last time and was put right by the eagle eyes of Bcj97 who supervised while enjoying her milkshake.TFTC Yeetrees, Bcj97 now has discovered another beach to fossick on.

07-Oct-09
Fun maze! TFTC TNLNSL

16-Sep-09
Great puzzle, although I may need a magnifying glass!! Found the right path after taking many wrong turns, Thanks for the easy puzzle Yeetrees!!

15-Aug-09
Enjoyed the puzzle and the cache. Found with Biggles while on a Wellington cache run. Biggles struck gold again here, I better start making a better showing. TFTC.

15-Aug-09
Find number 2 while caching in the capital with Kiwi Explorer. Nice one. Hands on the cache quickly at GZ. TFTC, Biggles.

04-Aug-09
Fortunately a quick find on a very windy and wet day. The hide was dry though. TFTC

03-Aug-09
#198. Very blustery and wet day today, solved this a while ago. Found with Emvy_Us, TNLNSL, TFTC.

25-Jul-09
Reasonably easy find on a beachcombing walk along the waterfront

06-Jun-09
A quick find this evening after completing the puzzle earlier in the day

01-Jun-09
The puzzle was a bit of a test on the eyesight but got there in the end! TFTC

11-Apr-09
Found after Whirligigs 2 on a sunny Wellington Easter Sunday. Another good puzzle and a good find.
