# 3810. Out caching around Sale this morning with Robmc. What fabulous wetlands. Well there sure is a lot of wet land around Gippsland most of the time I suspect. Had a lovely walk through here collecting the required information before making our way to GZ. Rob wondered why the cache was on the outside but it seems it has been hiding there a long time now thanks to the cacher who rescued it as it floated past. Signed the nice fresh log book left by the previous cacher. Thanks for the great walk through the wetlands and the cache Robmc.
This series has been taking up prime positions around Sale for too long. Time for something new for the locals to do.
Thanks to all the cachers who have helped with maintenance of this series over the years.
Thanks, Robmc.

Yahoo found at last.... We have had several attempts at this one and the only reason we found it today was that it was floating passed us. Photo as proof.
We opened up the cache and emptied the water out. The log was dry. The plastic bag worked well.
We had no idea where to place it back so I have included a spoiler photo of where we put it.
Robmc please delete photo once your happy where I put it, or keep it loaded until you or a fellow finder has the chance to put it back where it is meant to go.
Thanks for the Adventure once again.
Cheers

11.50am While Mr X was working in the area I took the advantage of checking out a few in the area and enjoying the great sunny day. I that this one was going to be a challenge because of the name but quickly realized it was because of the birds. Nice easy walk in but very very very at the intersection. I thought I would cut across the grassed area only to realize that went deeper than the puddles. Picked up the clues easy enough and got to GZ. Had a look around for a while and then referred to logs to give me a clue. Tried that and that did not work. It was just getting down on my hands and knees and groping. Success, success. It was in excellent condition, signed off replaced it where I found it but looking at the next log it does not appear that I did it right. Sorry if was me that caused this one grief.
Enjoyed the cache and the challenge

Today was day fourteen of our excursion out of Tasmania touring from Melbourne to Canberra and return via Gippsland. After staying in Lakes Entrance overnight we completed some more caching in the town before going to Sale where we spent most of the day. When we came through Sale a little over a week ago, it was raining and we had little time to hunt for caches but today, the weather was fine and we had about five hours to explore this lovely area. Late in the afternoon we drove to Traralgon picking up some more caches along the way. It was a very enjoyable day.
We drove to the carpark near WP1 and collected the required information. Shortly afterwards we collected the information from WP2. Then we made a tactical error and went the wrong way. At WP2 our GPS wanted us to go in a direction bisecting the two alternative paths. After about 10 minutes we came to an impassable point - the water was still quite high and the path was covered. So we retreated back to WP2 and then went the other way. This proved much better and we were able to collect the remaining information from WP3. We set off for GZ and within about 5 minutes, we had arrived. As mentioned, the water in the marshes was quite high but it was still about 30cm below the boardwalk. We searched for about 15 minutes, a times laying down on our stomachs and reaching under the boardwalk to see if we could feel anything. After working out the construction of the supports of the boardwalk, we started to walk up and down peering through the gaps in the planks where possible. Eureka! A plastic container was sighted. The previous method was employed and the cache retrieved. The contents were in excellent condition - absolutely no evidence of water penetration. After signing the log, the cache was replaced in its hide and we went on our way, very pleased with ourselves. TFTC Robmc

Found this on with WyldMan92 and the CO. Haven't been here since the floods, glad it's still here. Thanks RobMC for the cache.
On a maintenance run through the Port of Sale.
Replaced the logbook with one not so soggy. Does it rain a bit around here?

What a lovely spot and such a good hide very enjoyable with a 10k bike ride around the wetlands, although flooded in places got very wet feet. TFTC
I enjoyed my walk into the area and grabbing the other caches around. At GZ it took me some time to find the cache, but once found it did not take long to retrieve. As I look around a bike rider came past, no bell, just a cough. Scarred the #$%^ out of me. I loved the hide. TFTC

Found a similar hide earlier in the day, Peel your eyes and you will crack this one TFTC.
OK, I'll admit it, I couldn't find the *&^**$# thing! I spent over one and a half hours looking in, out, over, and under - it must have looked like I had dropped something very, very valuable (especially to be lying down every few feet - looking over, head just above the water!). I'll be keen to see if the amount of water would be disturbing to the trolls! Maybe next time, next year. (Thanks for the cache anyway, Robmc!)
This was my second find for the day. I realised once I went scrabbling in my Geocaching bag for a pen that it had been appropriated by someone (probably my husband) who needed it more than me. However, I had the Geotot's magnadoodle hiding under the pram, so I used it to write down the clues from each waypoint. I initially entered the wrong co-ords into my GPSr for the cache location and went on a wild goose chase before checking my interpretation of the clues (all correct) and re-entering the co-ords. Turns out I had entered them incorrectly in the first place and with the correct co-ords in the GPSr, we set out for the find.
After hunting around for a while, I was nearly ready to give up and the kids were getting restless, but I decided to widen my search area just a little bit more. With my eagle eyes, I successfully located the cache. I had a slight struggle to get to it, but managed to get it safely out of its hiding place. I apologise for the lipstick-signed log book, but as mentioned before I had no pen and magnadoodle pens don't work on paper. TNLN, TFTC.

I can confirm this cache is still there as I saw it when hiding a couple of the Geo gnomes in the area recently.
Worked out the co-ords no worries, but couldn't find the cache. Will revisit when the wetlands dry out a bit, we are guessing this would be helpful for this one!

The solomonfamily togeather with my sister's family spent some time looking for this cache - we found the required information easy enough but could not convert even with 5 sets of eyes looking. We did not get into the water though.
Thanks anyway

With some post-meeting afternoon tea being had, I thought I'd duck down and try for the older neighbour of this one. Collecting the clues along the way in the end led me to the GZ of this one instead and after a short search, the excellent final co-ordinates had me with the stash in hand at 15:10. Some more very informative history of the area in this wonderful Port of Sale series .
Unfortunately, its older neighbour will have to wait for another time as will the remaining caches in the series – but not too long I hope .
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Many thanks for the great journeys Robmc and Brothersinfluence.

Found by Greg 1430H 17/12/09. What another hidden gem. Thanks for the tour around the area. I would never have investigated had it not been for the cache.
Found by Mary & David at 0800. Our last day as we head home after a wonderful holiday. We have seen this area many times over the last 25 years and never tire of the beauty here in every season and a range of water levels. Our thanks to Robmc and Brothersinfluence for giving us an excuse to return.

We found this cache as the 41st of 43 on our Sale or No Sale Tour with Alansee, Pprass and Acts2YouthGroup. Nearly to the end of our list and a walk through the park and boardwalk was quite serene at this time of the evening. Luckily, I spied the hide about 5cm from my nose as I peered through the gloom of the fading light. Thanks from D B-A.
This was cache # 45 of 45 for the day, In the company of Alansee, pprass & Rabbitto, the cache was found at 20:00, on our tour of Gippsland. An interesting area to visit, we soon had the information from the first point and then found the second point was about 25m out, we back tracked to the sign and then crunched the numbers, we were soon at what we had as GZ and began to doubt our calculations due to the nature of the hide, I was sure I saw heaps better places to put a cache along the track but anyway Alan ducked over and Rabbitto finally spotted it for him to retrieve. We made a quick retreat from the smell and the Mozzies. My thanks to Robmc and Brothersinfluence for the cache.
Found at 8.05pm GAFF5 in the company of Acts2YG, Alansee and Rabbitto on a very successful tour of east Gippsland.
This was a big cache and after a bit of a power walk we enjoyed the swamp and curiously were becoming used to the smell of the mud. After some doubt at GZ, we widened our search and had the cache in hand after some desperate measures.
Thanks Robmc and Brothersinfluence.

Found in the company of pprass, Rabbitto and Acts2youthgroup on a fun but tiring caching day today. A nice place for a cache. Although the coordinates for the signs appeared to be out a little, we had no problem finding the necessary information, and learned some things on the way.
At gz we struggled a little but then realised that we had one number wrong. This moved us about 8 metres which was enough to be more confident, especialy with the nice hint, and Rabbitto spied the hide, right beside where I was standing.
A bit further than we would have preferred to walk for this, our last cache of the day, but it was a nice walk and thanks again Robmc&BI for making a visit to this city more worthwhile.

Phew, this was a tricky one even with the clue and reading the logs, great hide though and we enjoyed with walk.

Soddin' mosquitoes! [:(!] We (Mrs Biggles & I) were almost devoured alive by the vampiric blighters while trying to note the details from WP1. Passers-by must have wondered at the two people performing St Vitus' dance thinking perhaps it was some pagan ritual being re-enacted! Luckily the car was close by so we were able to withdraw back there, drench ourselves in Bushmans insect repellent (80% DEET, I may add) before again venturing to the waypoint(s) and then onto the cache.
(After earlier completing "PoS 12 - Old Bark Hut", I can see a pattern emerging about our learned cache keepers and the personality quirk that afflicts them .)
As the description says, we didn't need to get wet to find this one - but could if not careful. Luckily by acting like an eagle and with eagle eyes (!), this one was soon spotted and in hand to log our find.
A clever hide (again) and enjoyed the hunt - but not the mossies!
TN but left a little toy yo-yo thingy.

Again found while in the same area on the same day, very, very windy.
Gathered all the clues and went on the walk, great bushland so close to town, can't wait to tell my mate to go and find these caches.
The best thing about the wind was it kept all the mozzies away.
We has quite a search to locate this one, reading the logs it had to be where it is but it was very difficult to spot, well done.

Dropped in today for a Maintenance trip.
Everything is where it should be.
Just make sure that you have the GPS in hand, or the walk might be a bit longer.
A fair bit of work is being done in the park.
I will move the coords a few meters to make them a bit more accurate.

I really enjoyed the walks around this spot, and just as well too - there were only two tracks to choose from, but my guide (with the alleged local knowledge) still managed to choose the wrong one! There was much evidence of the relatively recent floods, but fortunately it was dry underfoot today. With a bit of an error in the co-ordinates it took a little while to find the cache, but it was worth it. I took the luminous dolphin for replanting closer to the sea. Thanks Robmc.
Got some help along the way to find this one - rain was coming and brother who had previoulsy found it did not want to get wet. nIce walk in the wet lands

After a great walk around the wetlands, or should that be drylands, we reached GZ. Then after a great deal of searching where the [] live with no success, the fam and I nearly gave up. But persistance prevailed and we eventually found it. Great hide took bouncyball left watch. Thanks Robmc & Brothersinfluence.

Had another try at this on Father's Day, 6th Sept. Met up with Wilana and her family, as we departed, hope they found the cache.
We took the little blue torch to replace the one of ours which just died, and left a ring and stick-on earrings. We had to widen our search a little bit to find the cache this time. Thanks Robmc & Brothersinfluence for a good challenge.

2009-07-24 13:42 A nice walk on a sunny day. I had done the maths correctly but I swapped 2 numbers around. When we got near it didn't seem right. So we rechecked the maths then the numbers I entered in the GPS and my mistake was discovered. Once we got it right I visited the area of trolls but none were home. Paperwork done the cache was returned and we continued walking. We were going to walk around but discovered it was a futher 7.2km so retreated the way we came. (Had to do a school pick up) and returned home.
Thanks for a little walk in the sun.
No swaps today

A very windy and wild day but we still enjoyed visiting Sale and the informative series which acted as our travel guide.
A lovely walk in the woods no animals about. Sale seems to have many lovely wild areas which are well defined with paths.

Easter Monday was quite in the wetlands so had a peaceful walk and straight forward find. Retrieved a dinasour from the swamp and left a keyring.
You need a rubber neck, not rubber boots for this one. I took a racing car and left a cloth badge with an interesting emblem on it unknown to me. TFTC
