First geocache find of the year!
Log and box were waterlogged so couldn't leave message.

Well hidden so took some scouting.

Our young treasure hunter left a small dinosaur for the next hunter!

OCW traciefirefly and geokids3&5. We parked the car and ventured into the bush to checkout the rock carving on the way to the cache. Geokid3 was getting tired and took a tumble on the rocks, so it was with bloody knees and salty tear-stained faces that we made our way to GZ.

Lots of muggle rubbish around, and we filled up a bucket to take out with us. We left the lounge room though. Found the cache with a dry log but a cracked lid and none of the information readable due to a previous soaking.

We took the shortest path back the the road and happened upon a flock of glossy black cockatoos, so spent several minutes watching them before moving on.

Found today - container is damaged and log was very wet. Managed to sign it, but the paper was almost tearing.Otherwise the hide is intact. My GPS was pointing me to another spot that also looked like a good hiding spot. It may be worth checking a broader area, rather than focussing on one spot like I initially did. TFTC.

Find #: 1,959
Companions: None
Muggles: None
Weather: Warm summer afternoon
Cache condition: Log drenched

My son had a birthday party nearby so I decided to find some caches. I had DNF'd a hide just across the valley, so was expecting the bush near this one to be much thicker. It took a little bit of searching to find the container, although it was easy to find empty bottles. The logbook was fairly sodden, but I was still able to sign my details. TNLN, thanks for the cache

A quick park n grab after work. Found the cache after a short search of the area. Contents of the container were soaked. Drained out some water but the log book will need to be dried out. Needs a little TLC. TFTC.

Dropped off our canadian friends to their cruise ship in Sydney this morning, we are now visiting friends nearby before heading back to Qld.
Needed to drop off a TB we have had for a while. This was the closest and biggest cache we could find. Short search and we located the cache. SL dropped off a few swaps and Snoopy TB.
Lid has a crack in it but in its hide, it should be okay.

Found on 10 March 2018 at 12.30pm. TFTC, rick_au.

Today we headed northward, first stopping at Berowra to revisit a couple of previous DNF's, then collecting a few caches along the old Pacific Highway, and finishing with a Multi-cache at Brooklyn. This was the 1st of 7 finds for the day.

Parked the geomobile in Currawong Road and then walked up Berowra Waters Road and down through the scrub to a familiar GZ. And, in stark contrast to our previous DNF visit, this time we made a reasonably quick find of the good sized cache container. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC rick_au.

13-Aug-17
After lunch down at the marina we took the ferry across to head back towards Hornsby. At that time of the afternoon there wasn't much of a queue to board the ferry, so it was a very short wait. It had been rather busy earlier in the day, though.

I was expecting a longer search, especially since the listing had mentioned something about a 20 minute walk (I guess that depends on where one walks from). It was perhaps five minutes from where we had parked. There were numerous tracks and trails in the bush; we stuck to the more obvious one which was running parallel to the road, a few metres into the bush, heading directly towards GZ. Along the way I spotted a brush turkey, as well as two large raven-like birds.

Not sure about the leaves-and-twigs camo; instead, we found the regular way of hiding a cache under a larger rock. No matter, it was an easy find and we could add our name to the log sheet.

Pity I had not noted earlier that there was also some aboriginal artwork in the area; I would probably have taken the time to have a look for it. Perhaps next time ...

Down around the Hawkesbury today to grab a few caches to bag the final Mary Hyde souvenir.

This one was a quick find, once I followed SpikeyMikey's advice and got on the low side of the track. TFTC

05-Aug-17
Just a reminder to all cachers......we're not supposed to destroy the bush!!!
Obviously a lot of other cachers have looked for this one on the wrong side of the track, and the highside of the track is being destroyed.
THE CACHE IS ON THE LOW SIDE OF THE TRACK.
I know this is a spoiler, but the bush deserves to be protected. TNLNSL TFTC

Today we all headed to Berowra for some caching, mainly to do the "Tipler's Time Trail" cache series, but also for a few other caches scattered around the suburb.

No luck for us with this one today. Looked for a while but just couldn't find it.

This was a great pocket of bushland, who would have known that this bush was down here just off the road. Spotted a scrub turkey near the cache, along with a large range of eclectic things that have been tossed down here over the years. The boy found this one after a few minutes of searching.

#2504 (Streak day 210)

Back in the area of my High Castle triumph on Friday to grab something a little less ambitious...

Arrived at the suggested parking spot and took a few trails to GZ.
Took about five to ten minutes of wandering around and checking the obvious before I spotted the even more obvious - CIH!

Completed signing duties and left a 2018 Geomuster card.
Then replaced and took the quick route back to the footpath, and from there to The Hademobile.

Definitely less drama than my last find in Berowra.

This cache was found in a typical hide with the type of camouflage that catches the eye, so it didn't take very long to find. Unfortunately there was no trackable in residence, which was disappointing. After signing the log in was then back up the hill and on to the next search. TFTC.

After a week of wet weather and more on the way, it was time to saddle up the mountain bike for a short ride to Berowra. I had just found the Forgotten Lookout and couldn't resist this nearby cache. Being on a bike it was quick access from the footpath. Spent a bit of time looking in the wrong place but the hint assured me that I was close and once I extended my search, it was an obvious spot. Nice area but I didn't take the time to visit the nearby aboriginal art. TFTC.

After a nice walk to Berowra waters for scones, we introduced geocaching to another family. Let's hope this is the first of many caches for them! The cache must be the only thing that has not gone into the massive brush Turkey nest! No TB in cache.

Mumma-Kel and I were heading to Berowra Waters today for our weekly geo-outing, and we couldn't just drive past this cache that was waiting just off the road waiting for us. So we stopped where suggested and headed off along sort of a trail towards GZ. As the numbers went down, we looked for a likely hiding spot and it was soon found ... the SPOR camo surprised me a bit though as I was expecting the cache to be covered by tree litter, as per the cache description.

Thanks for the cache and the smiley, catching franklin.

Opa-Bob and I had a good mix of difficulty and terrain planned for our caching run today, and this one, as promised, caused us no problems at all. In fact, rather than 20min, we were in and out of this one in just 9 min!

Opa-Bob pulled up right alongside the path in and we followed it to GZ where we took a moment scratching at leaf litter near some itty bitty ferns, before I spotted a standard SPOR and soon had CIH.

Thanks for a quick and simple smiley today catching_franklin Smile

Parking at WP1 we strolled to GZ. The hint was easily spotted from some distance away and while I followed the GPS pointer, the geo wife searched using the hint and spotted a SPOR, CIH.

For me, this was a personal geocaching challenge. Wink
When Polak learnt that I would be travelling from Paris to Australia, on a geocaching adventure, she contacted me and asked if I could try to retrieve "Polak's Frog", her little green frog which had stayed 5 months in one place in a rather remote cache, north of Sydney. Sad
Today it took me almost 2 hours to drive to the cache location from where I was staying, south of Sydney. Once I was at GZ another 20 minutes of scrabbling under rocks and logs and around the base of several trees was rquired before I spotted the cache container, in a surprisingly simple cache hiding spot. What made finding the cache rather difficult was the fact that no one has been looking for the cache since July, which meant there were several inches of leaves, bark and fallen branches at the base of every tree and even entirely covering some of the large boulders.
This is a very pretty spot. Well worth the detour. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
I give a favourite point.
I will now take Polak's Frog on my travels around Australia and then back to France.

A nice short walk through the bush.

Approaching GZ, the GPS said 8m, and I yelled 'that tree!' It was then I noticed the cache right where I was standing.

Signed log and replaced, checked out the (unvandalised) rock carvings, went back to the car.

Thanks catching franklin.

10-May-14
Fourth cache for the day. After being unable to find it I checked through some old logs and realised, like someone before me, that I was standing directly above the cache.

After completing the signing duties I checked out the aboriginal carving which, to me, doesn't look vandalised. It can be found at S33° 36.766 E151° 08.074.

Thanks catching_franklin. The cache is in good shape. Found at 10:43 am. Took Billy the Penguin TB - waiting for it to be logged into the cache so I can log it out.

Parked at the suggested location and found a path that headed off in the general direction of the cache. So decided that we would take it. This track seems to do a full circle around the cache location but we eventually got there just to realise we could have come in from the footpath. Oh well we saw some interesting mushrooms on the side of the track on the way in. The cache was found quickly just where the hint suggests.
