After what was a tough climb up the mountain through overgrown black berry bushes and scrubs and also having to contend with a number of leaches we finally reached the top and enjoyed the view. Finding the cache was even harder as we couldn’t get closer than about 10 metres to where the GPS was pointing due to the overgrown blackberry bushes. Unfortunately, we had no idea it would be so thick and had not only not worn appropriate clothing or footwear but had not brought a machete or similar to contend with the scrub. It was an adventure with no happy ending.

dropped off a new container. New coordinates S 34 50.632 E 150 42.923.

The lantana has grown back considerably since I was there last August. Long pants are mandatory, and a machete highly recommended. Also the mosquitos were very bad today. Drench yourself in bushmans or aeroguard.

It took me about 70 minutes to get up from the parking spot at the end of Roxbrough Rd, with breaks and a fair bit of machete swinging. About 35 minutes to come back down.

As said below, when you walk up from the parking area and come to a T intersection, go straight ahead and look for track like an animal track. When you are heading up the steep bit, keep on going up. Don't head off to the right, it's not a shortcut.

It looks like bigfoot hasn't been up there for a while.

Don't go down through Coolangatta Estate. They don't want anyone on their land, and they are quite unfriendly. Go back the way you came, it's a lot easier going down. Some nice person has left some blue ribbons to mark the trail as you head across the top, but also keep an eye on your gps so you follow your trail back down.

Beautiful views, but couldn’t find the cache or it’s ad-hoc replacement. Nice walk though

If anyone is planning to do this geocache please get in touch with us as we have a NEW ammo box that you could take with you to replace the existing one as it looks like it's been damaged.

16-Dec-19
When you head up the initial walkway, do not turn left or right head straight over the graded area and head up the track. And honestly you just keep heading up. Track is easy to lose so watch carefully.

Wear sturdy shoes as the ground is quite loose and wear long pants..

Cache is destroyed unfortunately. But thanks for the beautiful views of our south coast. Jodie & Aaron

16-Dec-19
Left a smaller cache 2 meters from trig point. Until initial cache is replaced hope that's ok

24-Nov-19
Had a crack at this from the parking coordinates today with 12yo GeoSon. After about an hour we were 350M away, but it seemed like it would be 350M of solid lantana bashing on a very steep slope so sadly we called it a day. Will have to have a re-think..

09-Aug-19
Walked up here this morning with a friend as they have never been here. Dropped off traceable to continue its journey

29-Dec-18
you wouldn’t believe it! But my mother in law booked us all onto Bigfoot as a surprise christmas present. And so as we travelled down the highway today I found myself quietly optimistic that we might stop at the top and I could grab this little cache.

Well stop we did. 10 meters from the cache. I could see the likely GZ. BUT they didn’t let us off the bus!!

Well not till we were a few hundred meters back down the hill, with not enough time given for us to dash back up the mountain to get the cache. A truely torturous caching moment. Sigh. At least the views were good...

25-May-18
was up there today playing radio (SOTA) so I thought I'd check the cache. yeah, it's pretty mangled but the log is good. my apologies for not bringing another container but my pack was heavy enough as it was.

someone (to whom I am eternally grateful) has done a great job clearing the lantana since I last was up here. i only had to get the brush hook out once, for about 30 seconds, 240 metres from the trig.

while i was there bigfoot turned up, and the driver had the hide to try and tell me i was on private land. i told him i'd checked the boundaries and knew that i was in a national park. he then said he'd be watching to make sure i didn't go down the way he did and he was going to report me...

unfortunately i didn't think of the correct comeback until 15 minutes later.

50 minutes to get up, with a few stops to get my breath back and my pulse down (carrying 18KG) 20 minutes to get back down. easy. i reckon easier than going through the private property also. certainly more satisfying. definitely take a brush hook or machete for the few places the lantana will grow back

on the way back down if you're not careful you can end up a little off track, just keep an eye on your gps trail if you have it set, or make certain you spend a lot of time looking back on your way up so it is familiar. along the ridge is easy, as you're going through a lantana tunnel a fair bit of the time, but going down again the track is a little harder to follow. still, pretty easy.

22-Apr-18
Well that took a lot longer than I expected. I lost the path 3 times on the way down to. A bit of a shock considering how easy it was to follow up. was very glad my map didn't disappear.
Splendid views in 2 directions and glimpses in the other. Unfortunately the top of the trail is full of lantana and my arms are now scratched and itchy.

A truck of tourists arrived as I was signing the log. Yes it checks to actually read a map before setting off; there's a road right up the mountain from the front ocean direction. Unfortunately my car was over the back. Sigh.

Cache found quickly but it has been run over and flattened with the clearing that has occurred. Log book is in good condition though. Tftc

Almost 2 yrs from my last visit here, back up here again today this time in the company of muppet95,once again I encountered BIGFOOT near GZ,the area at the top has recent slashing were we found the cache worse for wear,I'll leave the details for muppets.
Great to come back up for another visit
Cheers BlacknWhite !!

Had the morning off and Bonfire7 was keen to a bit of walking. We tackled Coolangatta Mountain to start the day before heading back towards Nowra to pick up the few remaining caches in my 50km radius. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their hides.

This was first of the day. We started off at 10am and began the trek uphill. The gradient and wasn't as harsh as I was expecting. Someone has recently cut away an obvious trail through lantana on the last few hundred meters. Took out time before finally making it to the top and spotting Bigfoot!

The cache was easily spotted but not for good reason. The grassy lands around have been slashed, & they must of clipped the cache pretty hard. I've never seen a mangled ammo can, so it was somewhat impressive.

We tucked it under the nearby stump, just a step down from where we found it sitting. Hopefully it stays waterproof and covered enough until the next finder or CO.

Hopefully the next finder can come prepared and do a bit of community maintenance and replace the mangled container and its contents.

Thanks for the walk and views though!

Long journey up the side of the mountain (we missed the trail) lots of scratchy and prickley bushes, not to mention the stinging nettles but we got there in the end and what a view!!! Yes aptly named cache. Thanks for the journey.

31-Jul-16
Got it and left something behind

17-Jul-16
Well that was an adventure and a half. Team MavEtJu and us set off from the end of Roxbrough Rd. Like everyone else, we turned at the nice wide track heading up to the left, and ended up at the water tank. Back to the T intersection. Don't go left or right, go straight through, there is a bit of an animal track.

Pre warned by the previous finder, we had a couple of brush hooks. They got used.

The track heads away from the cache a little, up towards the ridge, meandering back and forth, but either it ran our or we lost it amongst the ferns and the lantana, we started heading towards the cache, parallel to the ridge, before eventually clambering up towards the ridge, making a sort of track as we went. With hindsight, I would have just bitten the bullet and carved a track through the lantana to the ridge when we first got to it.

Eventually on the ridge the lantana isn't too bad, there's a bit of a track that has been previously cleared, and we tried to clear it a little ourselves, before a long area of long grass up to the trig point. Enjoyed the view for a bit, signed the log, then headed back down. We thought we'd take a slightly different track back to the bottom, but ended up having to cut some more lantana to get through, before eventually finding our way back to the defined track.

About 90 minutes to get to the top, and about 40 to get back down.

We managed to get one victim to the stinging nettles, and my hands and arms are showing the signs of playing in the lantana, but what an adventure. Thanks Team MavEtJu for coming for the walk and thanks BlacknWhite for the cache.

16-Jul-16
Oh man this walk was one of the harder ones as we had to bush hook our way to the top. But lucky it was Pez who did the hard work Smile

The logbook has a longer story than this, but I can't remember what I wrote there.

04-May-16
I had been looking for a suitable adventure to use to tick off my 7,000th cache find. It had to be somewhere local, and somewhere reasonably accessible after work. It did not take me long to settle on this as my location of choice.

I have been eyeing this one for some time. A long time. Probably since it was published. I have long thought of riding 'Bigfoot' to get here, my Pa took me for several such rides as a small child. However, coming up that way really is not my style! It's all far too easy and comfortable...

... so with me beating down the door of my milestone, today was to be the day. I picked up Juno, and headed south, ticking off the last two caches needed to make this the milestone. We easily found the parking WP, and then found the path to follow. Juno lingered for a long time down below saying hello to some local puppies, but eventually she caught up to me.

The bottom section of track was very enjoyable. Tall gums, sparse undergrowth, and a nice steep track. It might be late autumn, but it was still warm enough to be 'shirts off' kind of weather, even this late in the afternoon. Juno trotted along beside me, loving the excuse to be out and about. Soon though, shirts would be back on and all exposed skin scratched to pieces.

Once we finished with the bottom section we hit the upper section of track. This was, in a word, miserable. Lantana has overgrown the track everywhere. I would highly encourage the next hunter to bring a machete, I wish I had taken mine, that is for sure. Between the lantana, burs (cobblers' pegs/farmers' friends) and stinging nettle, it was tough going. Juno was fine going below the lantana, but the stinging nettle really gave her a hard time. The lantana ripped my shorts to pieces, and cut me up pretty badly (showering once at home was a painful experience)... but what an adventure, a milestone should not come easily!

We hit the top just as 'Bigfoot' was leaving, meaning that we had the place to ourselves. I quickly plunged into the thick undergrowth, wondering if in this overgrown environment I would actually be able to find the cache... the answer was yes! As I was signing the log, I heard voices coming, so quickly returned everything and popped out of the weeds.

Approaching were two young girls, having walked up the fire trail (and hidden from 'Bigfoot', as there are signs down below warning that there are no walkers allowed via that entry). We conversed for a little while, they had actually heard of geocaching and have found some in Gerringong. Once they left for their pleasant stroll back down the track, Juno and I took some photos, and then headed back the way we had come (we have the cuts and scrapes to prove it).

This was a very excellent adventure, and certainly worthy of a milestone cache find such as this, and a favourite point! Thanks to BlacknWhite for the excuse to stretch our legs and come here!

Cheers!!!

I only just realised there was a cache up here after been told for years that the only access to Coolangatta mountain was by private property. Access is via A pathway between two properties at the end of Roxborough Road. Considering there was plenty of lantana it was a decent path. And this will help towards 15 Forgotten Years. TFTC.

02-Jan-15
I have had this one on my list to visit for some time now, so I made the effort to come here today. It was not an easy climb with some semblance of a track making its way to the top though Lantana and over dead fall. I took the wrong path as mentioned in the previous log but found my way though. When I arrived the effort was well worth it. While at GZ there was also a guy on a tractor cutting the scrub along the track up from the winery. Also Big foot arrived with a load of sight seers so I had to wait awhile to grab the cache. TFTC BlacknWhite it is a great location.

Dropped Princess off at Oz before continuing to the starting point listed and parked. NO IDEA of what was in store! Nav planned for us to do this one without consultation or warning, such trust do we place in him. Yep, we arrived at the water tank and met the scary slitherer. Backtracked to the right track and started one of the most gruelling walks (climbs) we've ever done. At the fork where both paths look inviting, don't take the right one! It's dead-end is overgrown, impossible to tolerate lantana. Backtracked to the fork and over to the other side of the broken fence. A much more promising path until you reach the thigh high grassy tufts that shroud some predator or other. No path, track or trail anywhere!
Nav still kept the distances to himself and comments from previous logs as well, so yes this was very reminiscent of the Jurassic Park scene where everyone leaped onto fallen trees to escape the raptors. When we chorused "are we there yet?" "Not far now" encouraged us to bravely plod on past the stinging plant. At this point there is still another 800mtrs to go! Lantana grows thickly, trees are blocking every attempt to continue on. We were at the point of giving up. Hot day and hard slog fighting the encroaching bush. Too much for me to continue. Brave (bless her heart) minded me, and Intrepid Nav plunged on courageously. Time lapsed and our "coo-ees" not returned. Fighting great unease when Nav finally returned. YES! and YES again, he found it! The previous finder though was a muggle who couldn't resist inscribing the log in August. Nav also found the big-foot path right nearby. What a joy that would have been to follow! Descent was quicker and happier as we were so deliriously drunk with pride that the mountain was conquered and cache discovered. In our humble opinion though the going was so awful in spots it had to be terrain 3.5+. SL, took pics, took TB and left a snake badge. TFTC BlacknWhite

Been here twice before with the Bushwalking Club and swore I would never do it again. However the lure of the cache was too great .Was invaded by Bigfoot full of tourists.

What a day we have had ! Been waiting a while to climb up for this cache & today was the day. We set off from the car and easily found the right path thanks to some previous logs. We did loose it once on the way thanks to the lantana walls, but managed to get back on track. Our biggest hurdles came when we got to the tornado zone. With all the fallen trees the lantana has taken over and we spent some time and effort hacking & clambering our way thru. Eventually the trig came into view an hour and a half after we started. The views are truely splendid ! It was a perfect day for it. Our trip down took only an hour as it was easy to follow where we had trail blazed on the way up. I'm not sure how much longer this path will be an option for, it's pretty much inpeniterable now. Our advise would be to increase the terrain rating to 3.5 and take a machete or take Big Foot ! Thanks for the adventure. Left Yellow Bus TB that wanted to visit mountains ! Fav point.

With renewed confidence, a burger and chips in the belly, and a deep desire for success we headed out for our second attempt at this mighty one.

The "right track" was even more simple to find than what we had been lead to believe. When we found the track, that was a major victory. I doubt we would have made it bushbashing. Tip #1: When choosing between the right and left path... neither.

The Lantana is disgustingly thick at times. Even on the path. Encountered a stinging bush about 150m from GZ. Ouch. Tip #2: No shorts.

Not sure if we are the first to go up after the relatively recent Tornado ripped through the area (even more visible near the road back up to Gerroa), but it was quite a sight up near the top - a lot of fun jumping over, between, under fallen trees. Had some sweet Mario sound effects. Also opened up the views a little too, nice! Tip #3: Take a camera.

Again encountered a snake, moving along our path from it's previous sun soaked spot. We were pretty concerned with the long grass also. We took it pretty cautiously except for when we saw the snake and did a run to the nearest fallen tree branches. Reminded me of a Raptor scene in Jurassic Park. Tip #4: Cautiously look for snakes. Snakes don't want to attack you, leave them be and go around.

And then we saw it. I almost thought it was someone sitting down waiting for us. Mirage? Just a marker at the top! What a splendid view indeed! Found a nearby point of interest too - what a great spot & idea.

Two Frozen Cokes (each) at the nearest McDonalds was the full stop on this great adventure.

Thanks for the cache. Awesome. Guaranteed Favourite.

Oh, final tip: don't eat a burger and chips before heading up there! Gruelling!

I really have nothing to add - TheRomulans described our efforts perfectly. I'll add a few images - including some of the carnage post-Tornado.

Chiller250 also came along for this hike and find. TFTC! +1 Favourite indeed.

I can't log this as a DNF because we didn't make it to the GZ. Went right instead of left based on what we thought a local was telling us. Maybe we misheard or his left was different to our left or something, but at any rate the way we went did not feel right. We battled through so much Lantana and climbed some incredibly steep terrain, sometimes using creek beds as our way of making ground. It was insane, certainly terrain 4+. But we hoped to break through it.

We were within about 300m before deciding it was too thick and turning back to retrieve the rest of the team that had long ago abandoned the search. If you find yourself jumping over a barbed wire fence that is probably a sign you aren't going the right way.

Encountered a red belly black snake curled up on the way back down, we casually walked by without bothering it too much. I can only assume it was confused why some fools would be trying to tackle the mountain from this angle (the south).

Don't make our mistake, although it was a hoot :p will be back!

Been wanting to do this for a while, Baja15 and I have made an attempt a couple of times unsuccessfully, not bein able to find the right track. So today after a good study of to topo map found track straight away.
As we parked the car it started bucket down rain, well that wasent going to stop us, out with the raincoats. We were greeted with the company of a friendly dog who escorted us there and back. Well, the joy of the thousand mosquitoes decided to join us also, any one would think we were in a jungle as we approached the lantana... Eventually passing throu that and a clear parth ahead of us. At GZ the views fantastic , soon dutied done, all good there cache well stocked TNSL
Thanks for bringing us here BlackWhite,
now were off to the Rats Event, maybe we will see you there. : )

Found this one to be a great walk to a fantastic location rewarding us with great views. Once the proper planning was done we soon had the correct track and followed the ridge up to the trig station. We have been up here before on 'Big Foot". One of the real caches and one of my favorites. Thanks Blacknwhite Nice job. SLTN..TFTC

Found on a very long birthday walk with a special friend. After 1.5 hours we discovered some lovely bushland but not the ascending track. When returning to the car there it was and the decision to make the climb was quick. Far quicker than the ascent. Ithe pathway commenced clear and then disappeared and we
Scrambled through scrub and lantana. On reaching the top we still had 600 meters of long grass and prickles that stuck to our clothes. We think we have trillions.
Well we did reach the summit and found the cache .
We question the age of some of the contents and were in awe of the spectacular view.

The home trip was down the prohibited track . This was relatively quicker and safe in some places. We did have to ring a friend to collect us from one location and then return us to our car. Overall the trek was four hours.
Other than a great adventure and lots of laughing we also had company the whole way.

A very adventurous and friendly dog met us as we began our trek. It stayed the whole way although completed double the distance if you included the darting everywhere looking for kangaroos to chase. He was good company and probably could have taken us the the right path if we took notice. We were concerned as to how we would get our four legged friend to return home.
No problem!! When we reached the dwellings on the other side of the mountain in true Lassie style he stopped, looked at us and then started to return in the direction we came from. Every 50 metres he would stop and look at us and then continue back up the mountain. Wow. It was unbelievable... he was Lassie. Hope he returned home safely.
Thank you for the cache and opportunity for a great adventure. The maybe other tracks or you could hitch a ride to the cache. Visit the local winery.

What a great view from the top. Came up with Toadmeister7 after staying at the estate at the bottom. Heart pumping walk up the steep track to the top. Toadmeister made the find after a short search through the long grass. Thanks BnW.

After playing golf and wine tasting yesterday at the local winery, I was in need of some fresh air this morning, So Woody figtree joined me for an assault on the mountain behind our accomodation. We came up from the eastern side, and after some very steep sections we made it to the trig. The views became obscured with some low cloud cover but it is a tremendous spot. Unearthed the cache nearby and it jam packed with goodies. However, we just signed the log and returned to its hiding location. Thanks BlacknWhite, this is a great spot.

Note for future cachers: Somehow we got the impression we were looking for a sistema container but it is actually an ammo Box.

We really wanted to go up and enjoy the view.
First, we found the parking.
Second, we arrived at the water tank.
Third, we tried the other way around the mountain.

All this made us like the area even better, but our maps are not good enough.
Next time, we'll come better prepared, with precise maps.

This had been on my "to-do" list for ages, just waiting for the perfect winter day to do it, which today certainly was! After following the obvious track, I too arrived at the water tank, but then back-tracked to a less obvious bush track which meandered to the top quite steeply.

It's well worth the climb, the views are fantastic, and it was clear and sunny at the top.

Thanks for the climb, BlacknWhite!

What a walk! I feel pretty good after getting this cache, given how few people have got it since it was published.

Initially the car GPS took us the wrong place, but I sorted that out... we jumped out of the car and (foolishly) didn't bother reading the logs or having a proper look at the end of the cul de sac, so walked a good 500m back along the road to get to a track I saw on the topo maps. Turns out the 'Track' was a driveway. We took the chance then to read the logs and saw that there is an actual track at the marked so coordinates so sheepishly we walked back. Once we looked, the track was very clearly there, so up we went.

We got to the water tank, then along the path a bit more, and then started up. I could see a 'path' on the map but we ended up on a tiny track. Eventually the track became far too overgrown to keep following. We found a scythe embedded in a tree and used that to cut our way through the lantana for a while but it became obvious that wasn't going to work. Referred to the gizmo again and saw the path marked about 20m away from where we were, so we headed towards that with that assistance of the scythe. We found the old vehicle track mentioned in previous logs and once we were on that progress was a bit smoother.

The path is fairly overgrown but much better than bush bashing. With a break or two along the way, we made it up to the top in fairly good time. Finding the cache took a while, because the gizmo was being uncooperative and sending me every which way. Once it settled down I managed to find the cache in about 5 minutes. I was starting to lose hope that after all the effort of the trip up we weren't going to be able to sign something! The cache was in good nick and everything was dry, so we signed the log and returned it. I'd thought that surely someone would have found it since the last log on this page, but it doesn't look like it!

We followed the vehicle track until it turns into a paddock of nearly waist high grass. We cut back towards the goat track that we followed up. The trip down was much much smoother.

Quite an adventure though, and got my brother and I out of the house on our holidays. TFTC BlacknWhite!!

First I went to Coolangatta Resort and enquired whether I could climb the mountain via their property. This was declined, though I could book a ride on "Bigfoot". I retreated and went where I should have in the first place, Roxborough Road on the other side of the mountain. I followed the path between two properties at the culdersac and began the slow climb. At the end of the properties, I followed a track left which led to a water tank. Where is the track to the top? Fortunately, my GPSr has topo maps and these indicated that a track existed some distance further on. There was a track to another property in longish grass, but just before a gate, a post with a marker ribbon on it, and a trail in the long grass suggested a way up. This was duly followed until the track crossed a broken down fence and then followed wheel tracks. Well I don't think too many fourby's would make that hill without a winch. No wonder it is not a vehicular track anymore. Huge mud-terrain tyres running low pressure with diff locks still would have hung up on that steep pinch.... Anyway, the top was found and so was the cache. The trig and a survey mark were photographed for waymarking. But a note to all - this cache is not suitable for geodogs. I have spent more than 2 hours de-burring Tuppence (a toy poodle) who came with me. I will have to check for ticks as well in the next few days. Took geocoin. Thanks for the hide.

While we were here we wanted to drop off some travellers

Have had this one on the todo list for some time and a quiet Good Friday was a perfect opportunity. We had a muggle friend to teach as well so we set off having read the logs feeling it would be a challenge [:o]
We went to the suggested parking spot and got as far as the water tank and lost the trail, luckily for us we bumped into some people on their way down otherwise we would not have thought we were on the right track
So we forged on and met more walkers who encouraged us that we were heading in the right direction
The top was achieved !! Big Grin
The youngsters were scratched to bits, bitten mozzies ants and very weary Sadso after a recharge and swaps they wanted to head back down to the Coolangatta Village side.
We agreed and they went one way we went the other. They were down and waiting half an hour before we got to the car!
This would be easier in winter if the weds die back a bit
Thanks for the challenging Cache
Took some stickers from the roll (left the roll)
Left Hawaii Micro Geocoin.

Staying at the nearby Estate for a work conference and set out after this one before dinner. A little ambitious at first and thought I'd be able to run up the hill, not to be. In fact if there wasn't a cache up there I would have stopped half way up. Got there in the end with my quads and calves burning....certainly worth the climb...what a view. Found the cache quickly signed the log and picked up the GC. Left nothing

After looking for the right way up yesterday I came back via the wrong way. Ignoring the sign I ducked passed the gate and shot for the top along the old BigFoot track. An hour later the cache was in hand. On the walk back down, I ran into an old mate that I haven't seen in years.

Up this way claiming a GCA TrigPoint. Pity I didn't take the required photo when I found the cache (could have cheated). Dropped coin. Cache in perfect condition, track overgrown near the top, all very dry. Not quite a State Forest but plenty of trees. To hot for any wildlife today, even the snakes were quiet.

After slugging it up some very steep hills last week I wouldn't have thought a week later I'd be doing the same thing again, but today with clear skies and the crispness of early morning I was heading up Coolangatta Mt in search of a cache.
Having been chatting to the owner and telling him of my intentions they asked would I do a little maintenance while I was at GZ, so today I installed an ammo tin at GZ.
This place has some of the best views of the Shoalhaven I've seen, up the coast, Shoalhaven Heads and glimpses of the river were all magical. My only disappointment was leaving home without the camera. I only have a few phone quality pics for my effort.
This is a well recommneded cache. Thanks BlacknWhite

We tried to find this one a couple of weeks ago without success. We parked at the recommended parking area and set off but after not finding a path and bush bashing for ages, the lantana and time beat us, so we had to turn back.
Our 2nd attempt was more successful. (same parking area) We met one of the locals as we started out and asked advice on how to reach the top. He was very helpful.
So off we went, up and up and up. Steeper and steeper, much to geokid, age 4's disgust. It took us a little while but finally we made it. And what an amazing view. Well worth the walk. We SL and made our swaps, had a snack and a drink and down we went. Much quicker than going up. lol.

T - Sharks keyring
L - TB and celebrity stickers.

By the way, geokid (age 4) walked the whole way up and down. If you've done it you'll know why we're excited about that.

Finally took the time for this one. I was already enjoying myself with the thought of a nice walk until a got to the mountain. The thing I saw was a big gate wich said MOUNTAIN CLOSED< NO ACCES FOR ANY CAR OR PEDESTRIAN. What to do?
I went anyway and had a beautiful walk with spectacular views!

Boy o boy this was a tough one. Found it on our second attempt. We started from the parking waypoint and followed a track which ended up on the old bigfoot track and then it was up and up and up. This wasn't the shortest track which we couldn't find but Tunea assures us it there, we just couldn't find the start of it due to all the private property.

It pays to talk to the locals, explain what you are doing and then they don't find you wondering around. As it turns out we walked on land bought back by some government dept. and they weren't telling anyone that it's public land again.

What a shame almost the entire mountain is covered in weed otherwise a more direct route would have been possible.

Took the Cache critter geocoin and left a DVD

Thanks Pelusa & Paysandu

This was the hardest cache that I ever found, on the second attent, thanks to very good pelusa's planning. Thanks BlacknWhite for taking me there and what a view!!!!

The Mission: Drop CacheBoy at tennis comp in Berry at 4.45, drive to Coolangatta, scramble up the hill, find the cache, stop to smell the proverbial flowers, roll back down the hill and be back in Berry for a 6.45 pickup. Easy! As it turned out, it was easier than I expected. The climb took only about 40 minutes (but it hurt!), so I made it back to tennis with lots of time to spare.

What a fantastic location. The views are truly splendid. The cache was packed with more goodies than any I have seen recently. I took the USA geocoin and carabinas and left a Canadian keyring.

Thanks BnW for giving me an excuse to climb this local landmark, and thanks too to Tuena for some advice on a feasible route. Might have been mission impossible without this tip.

Finally, we've done it! Our first attempt didn't go so well; unable to find a track we decided to just head on up, but as the lantana got thicker, the children's enthusiasm dwindled, so we ended up turning around and heading home - a shame really, as after we downloaded our track log into google earth, we realised we had turned around 70 or so metres before reaching what appeared to be a track!

Anyway, attempt 2 was solo, the rest of the team wanting to go shopping instead. I had scoped out a plan of attack on google earth and this one worked. It was still very hard work, my fitness levels having deteriorated markedly over the last few months, with illness, work and a lack of exercise showing their effects. But arriving at the top was all the sweeter, and the view was and is certainly splendid! The cache was quickly in hand and a retreat made back to the trig to do things in relative comfort - the weeds around GZ are very bad, I am still finding cobblers peg seeds in unlikely places as I write this.

Replaced the cache after perusing the contents and signing the log, then it was back down, a much easier endeavour than the trip up. Glad now that I can mark this one as done, glad also I didn't attempt it sooner, I am not sure I would have made it then (bloody glandular fever!)

Thanks BlacknWhite for an excellent experience all round!

A cool afternoon so decided to walk up here instead of the Drawing Rooms, which are shrouded in mist. You'll need your sock protectors as the rains of late have induced good growth along the track & near the cache. Saw an echinda & a wallaby. Hell will freeze over before Bigfoot is running again. Left a TB.

I was surprised when I logged on this morning for the first time in over a week to see this one still awaiting a visitor. I had actually thought of hiding one up here myself but when I went to council's info centre they knew nothing about the walk, despite it showing up in one of their management reports as an iconic walk. As it is I would never have found the carpark. The most difficult part for me was finding the actual track. I went this way & that way before resorting to phone a friend. Thanks Sam. Then it was just a matter of plodding up the hill. It was with great relief that I recorded a FTF - it's always a pleasure to look for a BlacknWhite cache, even better when you're the first one. I took a few pictures with my new digital camera (birthday present) & then recorded the find in the logbook & somewhere else! I took the TB & a gel face wash but was unable to fit my swap into the generously stocked cache. Thanks BlacknWhite for a pleasurable few hours.

Myself and casie the wonder dog almaost got there today but when we reached the parking area it started bucketing down, I thought about getting wet for a few moments then remembered the 2k's uphill bit and decided to give it a miss, well for today anyway. After bailing out I drove around to coolagatta winery and asked if the old bigfoot road was still open ( on google maps the old road goes almost right to the cache). Anyway the guy at the wine tasting stand said the road was under repair and we may be able to use it when it's reopened..... Heres hoping. Cheers Greg.
