A beautiful day to be out this way. The ground is still swampy in parts due to the wet weather, but there is an abundance of flowers and animals. This was an easy cache to find, with a nice little view towards Yankee's Hat over the plains. TFTC

This area is MAGNIFICENT at present. LOTS of wild flowers; kangaroos grazing. It's some time since I have seen such magnificent scenery, and the weather was perfect. Underfoot, the ground was marshy after all the recent rain. We circled the area before the cache was located. Cache and log are good. I picked up the TB 'Derpy', which has been languishing in this cache since at least 2019; pre Covid. Worth a favourite point. TFTC mtbikeroz.

After really enjoying my visit to Namadgi National Park area south of Canberra a couple of days ago, I returned there this morning on my own to find a few more of my target caches.

It was a leisurely visit with a couple of short walks and plenty of looking around.

Later in the afternoon and evening I did a couple more of the lab caches.and the asdociated unknown caches, as well as a night cache on the eay back to my camp.

I visited this cache on my walk into the rock art site. The coordinates seemed a long way out, but it didn’t take too long to find.

Thanks SecretSquirrel-BJC (Adopted by mtbikeroz) for the cache.

I decided to travel down from Brisbane to the Mega in Queanbeyan and spend 2 weeks here and in Canberra collecting caches on a rather lengthy to-do list.

Yesterday the scheduled plan had been to go for a walk in Namadgi National Park to visit this long unfound cache on Yankee Hat and the nearby virtual cache, but a fuel system warning light came on in the car only 20 minutes from my destination. With the Easter public holidays approaching I reluctantly turned back and went on the hunt for a mechanic to fix the problem rather than have the car out of action for the next couple of days.

With the issue fixed for the moment, I had to implement a back up plan for the rest of the day and Yankee Hat was deferred until today. Leaving before sun up again, I was aghast to find the fuel warning light come on again in almost the exact same location. Knowing that the issue was not a terminal one, I decided to keep driving today and arrived to find only one other car in the car park (at least someone would be around to help me if the car had an issue restarting Big Grin).

After collecting the information for the nearby multi, I headed to this location, as the first cache of the day. Well the day didn't start on a happy note as I spent a good 20 minutes hunting around the area where my GPS was telling me to look, with no success. I then realised I had forgotten to save a copy of the spoiler photo offline (I had not a scrap of phone signal at this location). With a lot of ground still to cover I decided to call it quits for now and try again on the way back from the mountain climb.

At the top of Yankee Hat I managed to get enough phone signal to access a copy of the spoiler image and saved it away for the return visit. Arriving at GZ again, I realised I had to search a different area to where I had been looking before. After some more poking and prodding around I eventually spotted my target, relieved to finally be signing my name in the logbook. TFTC

For some reason the_proton and I thought it would be a good idea to find more caches after our OzMega tour to try and find 10 cache types in a day. the_proton retrieved this one while I took some pretty panorama shots. TFTC.

21-Apr-19
Down here to grab the nearby Virtual so we could do 10 cache types in a day. On the way through we obviously had to visit this cache, and drop off a travel bug to enjoy the view too!

31-Dec-18
Picked up today with Loci612 on our way to Namadgi Yank. Pretty quick find, even without the spoiler photo. TFTC SecretSquirrel-BJC and mtbikeroz!

31-Dec-18
Decided to go for a walk to grab the long awaited "Namadgi Yank" virtual cache with Cankid today! This cache was on the way so seemed like a good one to start the walk with!

About three other groups of muggles were out here today, and we also saw a juvenile black snake on one of the bridges!

This was a great little spot and a nice find, the container was in good condition!

Thanks mtbikeroz

18-Nov-18
Came out here on a Meetup walk, had to find a cache or 3 while I was here Smile
This whole area is amazing... Can't believe I have lived in Canberra as long as I have and never been to this place until today...
TFTC - I dashed ahead of the group and ducked up for this one on the way back... Looked in what I thought was the obvious spot, but all I found was rather a lot of magpie? feathers in that hidey hole ... No doubt left there by whatever ate the rest of the bird... Then I looked around a bit more, and found it safely tucked away out of sight (and I guess it was out of my sight the first time I looked there too - lol)
This really is a pleasant spot... A pleasant little spot in a pleasant whole area... Why have I never been to this place before?!
It would have been nice to spend a but longer exploring this rocky outcrop, and/or just sitting here a while, but while signing tge log I could here someone calling me... The group were approaching tge bridge and we're not sure where I was - these rocks, or the ones behind them... so I yelled out "I'm up here", replaced the cache, and ran down to join them at the bridge.

What a cache! Unreal! Thanks so much Smile

Our first find on a lovely stroll out to the art gallery. The icy wind was blowing hard. The fyirst snow we have seen in Australia for nearly 15 years on the southern side of a couple of the nearby hills.

Yes, a little bit of a scramble to reach this but worth it.

30-Mar-18
Nice find early this morning on the walk to the Yankee Hat historical area .
Signed the well hidden cache mid morning and enjoyed the views in all directions .
Plenty of Roos about .
Thanks for the cache invite.

14-Mar-18
A pleasant walk in late summer on a not too hot day. Saw my first kangaroos in Australia on the way out here today. The cache was located after some searching. Thanks for the cache!

14-Mar-18
Nice day for a walk to Yankee Hat! With krirav visiting we couldn’t leave without finding a few geocaches. This was the first today. TFTC!

28-Nov-17
A beautiful late spring sunny day. Not to hot and hardly any breeze.

An enjoyable stroll along the path and a nice little detour to make the find.

Was surprised to find a whole lot hail left over from the storm on the weekend hidden in the shade beside the rocks. Crunch crunch up to the cache, a little scramble to make the find and all good!!

Thanks for the cache MTBO!

Photo of hail included.

After walking quick enough out and back to the Aboriginal Artwork I had time for a climb and search here. Found in the last spot I checked as my deadline approached.

Tricky to find but very worthwhile TFTC

Another one done. Woo Hoo! I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my family, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs. **Thanks go to mtbikeroz** for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated.

I enjoyed finding this one at 10:41:11 AM.
TFTC! Cheers. *Jump Pilot* Cool

A couple of months ago So undertook her blue level hike for Scouts and once we returned from that she was keen for some more walking. A muggle friend from work was also keen to get out and today the weather and diaries finally aligned and we headed out to the Yankee Hat Rock Art site.

This cache was our first stop and after searching one likely area I remembered who placed this one and shortly after one of our muggle friends made the find. Cache is still in good shape. TFTC

13-Aug-16
A great day in the Gudgenby Valley with ZQX and TikvaNZ. Found eight caches, with the prize being another Canberra's Toughest Challenge cache.

The walk to this cache was very pleasant, compared to the thick, thick scrub up on Yankee Hat. What a great spot. Found the cache neatly tucked in its hidey hole. TFTC mbo

05-May-16
This area had been on my "to-do-list" for some time now and I was hoping to bag a few caches in the area but I didnt get here till right on dusk. I ran out to the nearby virtual and then on my return to the car by torchlight I made this trickly find by torch.
Thanks

23-Apr-16
Found with the family - after 6 years of me being the only cacher in the family, it was our first combined family find (see photo)! Our little guy is coming close to 2 and although I've found caches with either one or both in tow in prams etc, we've never gone deliberately as a family to find a geocache. And this was the first on our walk to Yankee Hat today. What a wonderful spot, the kids loved exploring the rocks and we loved the views. Thank you to the previous cacher who placed two toy frogs in the cache - the kids were totally excited and the bonus was there was one each, so no fighting! Perfect. TFTC!

28-Mar-16
Love scrambling around boulders, TFTC

27-Mar-16
Gorgeous day for a walk on the Easter weekend. Not as busy as we feared it might be so able to manage stealth in between Muggles walking past. TFTC.

25-Mar-16
All the kangaroos knew where it was.
All the rabbits too.
But they couldn't speak banana.
In mime they all willed us on.
"No, not there! Or there!"
It was not buried.
It was in plain sight.
The bananas took their time looking up and down.
Until
We looked where it was.

The kangaroos and rabbits were so happy.

19-Mar-16
I was with Fangsoki and Pprime on a quick trip from Brisbane with some specific caches on our list. One was the nearby virtual cache and as this one was on the way it would not be polite to walk past it without checking on it.

We checked a few spots before we happened to look in the right one.

TFTC.

19-Mar-16
So the kindly Mr Pprime decided that he should bring Crew 153 and I out to this spot. For the virtual primarily - but of course we would stop for caches along the way.

What a fantastic area this is. Nothing a mob of roos just all suddenly looking at you as your strut along. We eventually got near GZ. Pprime's memory is not what it used to be apparently and he had us on the wrong side of the rocks. It was ever so nice to get up close to the blackberry bushes Razz

Around we went. Mr Crew 153 led the charge and bought a container. We signed the log and re-hid it as found. The cache was in good condition.

A nice hide and in a nice area. TFTC SecretSquirrel-BJC - and thanks to mtbikeroz for the ongoing maintenance Smile

We searched and searched but couldn't find this one unfortunately Sad

I was in the mood for a geomission in a nature park so decided to head for Namadgi for a day of quality geocaching. The draw-cards for the day were the Nightmare series, the virtual and trad at the rock art and whatever others I could nab along the way Smile

After completing the Nightmare series, it wwas time for me to head down to this spot to get started on hike to the rock art. This one was along the way so it was definitely on the to do list.

Once at GZ I was thankful of the hint as the GPS signal was bouncing all over the place. So round I went to make the nice easy find! Great spot to sign the log-by now I was quite hot from hiking so I rested against the coolness of the rocks to cool off, as well as sipping quite a bit of water! Worked a treat! So once refreshed, off I went to make my way to the rock art.

You are right-once you cross the bridge you will fall in love with Namadgi. But I reckon I fell in love with Namadgi the first time I was here-such a typically Australian and beautiful place Smile

Thanks for the hide, mtbikeroz Smile

While travelling with Mutex I’ve found a lot of caches all over Australia. You know, I like the discovering, especially in nature, but am not that much intopcs and internet ..and logging. So we spend a whole day together to indicate all the caches we found together out of his list. Hope you don't mind the standard text aslazy me has to log quitea few now. HopefullyI'm gonnawork on that Wink

Thanks!

At the moment Pfote and me are on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. After I've spent a full year in Australia Pfote joined me for my second year down here. We will definitely try to collect a lot of boxes and all the special things in every state all around and through the middle.

Our current part of the journey is a short roadtrip form Sydney via Canberra and Bright to Melbourne. Of course, some stops are necessary!
This was one of the caches, we've found on the way.

This one was a quick and easy find.

TFTC and greetings from Germany

Down from Brisbane and out today for a few hours, found myself passing by. Such barren landscape, so appealing to the walker in me. Lovely little spot here, overlooking the path, and the yonder forest-covered hills.
Thanks for placing this cache, SecretSquirrel-BJC (Adopted by mtbikeroz). Found in good condition.

Out hiking with some scouts. Camping near the rock art overnight before heading south to Hospital Creek Hut (via Frank and Jacks Hut) then heading north back to the Yankee Hat carpark. Thanks mtbikeroz

25-Jan-15
Collected this cache while walking out to Yankee Hat (but not up today!). Gudgenby - land of the rabbits. Despite knowing better I honestly didn't expect that many out during the day. Why are we doing our field work at night? Twisted It was quite sad seeing all the destruction they have caused to the valley. Was happy after grabbing the cache and continuing on that the numbers dropped on the other side of the creek (at least visibly). Cache was an easy find after consulting the description. Great hiding spot.
Thanks mtbikeroz Big Grin

Oops! I crossed the bridge!! Wink

Found with a few members of my rover crew, as we decided on a new years resolution to get fit and go bushwalking more. I was prepared and loaded a "couple" of caches onto my gps as a surprise to the others Razz

Whilst the muggles got excited about a helicopter above us (I think it was a water bomber! ) and tadpoles and apparently fish below them on the bridge, I tackled this one solo.

I am very very weary of these easy namadgi finds Wink

Found this one while my dad took photos of the eagles overhead.

Found at the start of a great day out en route to Namadgi in Namadgi. At this stage Bruce's Run, Mosaic1212 and I were optimistic and full of bravado and banter about conquering the great hill in the nine hours we had allowed in the temperature of 33 degrees.
No need to warn me about falling in love with namagi - too late!

Reperio at 0635.

After arriving to the ACT last night at 0000, I had a quick sleep in the car and got up nice and early for a walk around Yankee Hat. Although the morning was cool, the day couldn't have been any better really...and after a short walk, the cache was located among some fabulous boulders. Always love returning to Namadgi.

Gratias mtbikeroz.

First find for August and a very late start for me for the 7 souvenirs of August challenge. Quick and easy find thanks to the description in the listing. I really love this walk, have done it a few times before. I love the vast openness out here. Nice spot TFTC!

Found today on a Canberra Bushclub Walk led by JohnnyBoyACT. We thought we were in for a lot of rain today but it was blue sky and quite warm, considering it is winter! Soon had the CIH and LBS and were on our way up towards the rock art. Thanks for the cache! I have crossed the bridge and will now have to return for more walks and adventures Smile

I'd promised to catch up with a good friend today, and the weather was just too good to just catch up for coffee. So we packed a picnic lunch, grabbed my 2 geokids, invited my parents, and then the 6 of us headed off for a walk. I'd gone past this cache before I realised (probably something to do with "I hate geochaing" kid having a sulk) and we found it on the way back after a visit to the rock paintings and our picnic lunch. A fairly easy find, with a beautiful view - bridge, rolling grassy hills, kangaroos, ....and loads of people! When we got back to the car park, it ws full! Good to see so many people enjoying the national park.

Took the dragonfly TB. Thanks for the cache MBO - it was nice to get a smiley on a great little walk.

10-Mar-14
Found on a nice day out in Namadgi NP. After getting the answers to Yankee Doodle Dandy (which we will get another day), we came along this great walk for a few caches. A very pleasant stroll on the grass. A quick climb to GZ, but we went the wrong way at first. Once in the right spot, it was found within minutes. The muggles on the path didn't notice us either. Great view of the bridge and a very pleasant spot indeed. An easy cache by MBO, never thought I would hear that saying. TNLNSL. TFTC MBO!

This one was nabbed on the way back to the carpark after doing "Oh My Hat". This valley was magic today, sunny, just the right temperature and a nice breeze that helped cool me down after the bash up and back to the "Hat"

Thanks for the cache.

Wow what a spot. We were walking to Yankee Hat aborigional art site as part of a Grey Wolf pre-hike for cubs. We had some first-timers to geocaching and they were mighty impressed with the swaps in the box. We saw 6,778 kangaroo's and 2 snakes. great day out. TFTC

Discovered after a night of camping. Beautiful National Park close to Canberra. Nice and quiet spot next to the river, would have loved to have stayed around longer but it started to snow so I had to beat it back to the car!

Left some trackables (sorry it took so long to drop them off!), took nothing and signed log.

Thank you.

What a lovely day for a walk in Namadgi! Decided it was finally time to take a look at Yankee Hat today, and hopefully pick up a few caches on the way.

Found this one in a beautiful spot on the walk to the aboriginal art site, with an astonishing number of roos watching quietly. Wonderful - TFTC!

Popped by to find on a walk to the Aboriginal Rock paintings. After a short search found it okay. Thanks.

Did this one as a group find (Norkmeister, BatgirlAndCo, FastGK & 'Narin') on the return from our aborted attempt on 'Rocky Heights'. Nice way to finish a long, wet, windy, scrubby walk.

Couldn't believe the number of kangaroos in the area. Must be plague proportions.

I passed by this spot 1 year ago on my way to Namadgi in Namadgi. At that time it was dark and we didn't want to waste time since some of the logs indicated it may take some finding. On the way back after 13 hours and 27 km in the bush it was dark again and we were too tired to be bother walking the 70m from the path to the cache. "We'll be back" we said.

Well today was that day. On the way back from our failed attempt at "Rocky Heights" (Mt. Kelly) we stopped this time and found the cache quite quickly. The coordinates didn't have me too close but my accuracy was 12m so I just checked the spots where I would have hidden a cache and there it was. By this time the rain had stopped and I wasn't so cold as I had been so you could almost call it pleasant. Smile

Thanks SS-BJC for consolation smiley.

Last find in the loop of the area. I was quite suspecting to have to go higher than I did and had the right footwear (I am in love with my new merrels), however whilst searching for a handhold to get higher I found the cache instead. Upon retrieval I opened it to find it full of chocolate! I know these are not really a good idea in caches so although this was a great personal risk to my own health I unselfishly swapped them out for a travel bug instead.....nomnomnonmnomnonmnomnnommmmmmm....... Red Face

Yep, warming up now. She who was wearing the hippy moccasins let me lead the way through the grassy grass. She did share some of the noms so that's allowed. Overall, a really triffic loop walk through some nice country, as always, thanks for your company Chris, I couldn't have done it without you, especially the rock climbing bits, the threat to swim the river etc. etc.

#463: Found with JezzzaXtreme and Beltaines_Fire. We spent a while walking around the big rocks before we decided to start searching. After finding the cache we walked down to the bridge and the frozen creek.

29-Jun-10
Found with Rubai and Beltaines_Fire

A nice cache to start off the day. Everything was still frozen even though we got here at 10am! After having a bit of a look around we found the cache, and then spent quite sometime admiring the frozen creek. Suprisingly it was in direct sunlight the whole day, but still frozen over when we were coming back through in the evening. I guess at least we didn't overheat.

Thanks, Jezzza Xtreme.

3rd Namadgi cache for today - and well worth the effort. The roos are quite amazing here and so is the birdlife. The GPS had a little dummy spit at GZ, but a quick peruse of the cache description provided the necessary answers.

We were on a tight schedule late in the day when we visited this so didn't have much time to look for it - we still had to get to Yankee Hat and back to the car park. We were definitely in the right spot but, as another caher has commented, the GPS was sending us around in circles so I looked at the hints - still couldn't find it. Ah well, maybe another day!

Cheers, ChrisG2

Thought we were looking in the right place, but alas we could not find it. We suspected it could be muggled but looking at the last log, it may just be difficult to find. We looked in the area and having looked also at the spoiler photo, think it was the correct area for a long while but nothing showed up...as I say alas.

Found by Lordjimbob55 who had looked a few times for it while on various School excussions in the area. This time he found it in 10 seconds.. Picked up the two TB's and dropped in a differant TB. We then proceeded onto the Rock art caches....

#154 - Eventually found this one after about half an hour of searching. The GPS was sending me around in circles due to poor reception adjacent to the rock outcrop. Once read the clue (not in the hints section, so missed it on my small PDA screen) I found it in less than a minute! Beautiful area! TNLN TFTC.

Everyone was bored at home, so someone said lets go on a cache. So we did. We got fresh air, exercise, and had a lot of fun! - I even played soccer with a kangaroo! Left a pathtag, took an egg!
