I am really sad we now have to archive this cache. It has been very popular, in a fantastic location. Unfortunately the plastic container is now damaged and missing, and the cache owners now live interstate so it cannot be maintained. We made it 12 years, and we're very happy with that and proud to have shown so many people this great location. I'd love for someone to continue the legacy of the Stoney Creek Timberwolf cache.

Came down to Central Coast today with BillHill531.First time in Strikland state forest and was impressed. Nice walks everywhere. After a fairly long trek to GZ we started the search. Like the last cacher i also found theZip bag but also the note pad as well.Pad was unable to be signed but added extra paper in the bag.I hid the bag where i thought it should be. Will send message to the CO.4 cahes from 4 different owners in this forest and all great. TFTC and the adventure Timberwolfie.
Found with shaneo58 doing some around the central Coast/Strickland National Park, coming down from Newcastle/Lake Macquarie in the morning, getting up in the low 20's deg later in the day. We came down the steepest path to get to GZ, and where glad it wasn't for nothing, as we found the remains (bag & soaked logbook) of the cache, we added paper to sign . This is the 7th cache of 12 for today. Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache TeamWolfie

Nothing today.. did find an empty zip lock bag that was the same as a different log - might need a check?
Found it, well hidden. Container need replacing as it’s broken and contents are damaged
Easy find great view and nice temperature. Case was open but restored and put back nothing added nothing taken
In the area, bushwalking with muggles, and what do you know, the muggle pup sniffed out the cache.
Container full of water, & logbook waterlogged.
Cheers

Found it, didn't have time to sign as soon as we found it leeches ambushed us and my friend started crying so I packed up and left.

The Geowife is heading up to the Central Coast today - the first time since our sojourn overseas. She will be busy between 11 and 4, meaning I have a few hours to grab some caches.
But rather than a binge, today I'm targeting two specific caches - that aren't particularly close to each other. And I can work in a previous DNF which isn't too far from one of them.
In the end I made six finds - most with bush walks of varying lengths. A pleasant, somewhat leisurely, day.
Pity about the DNF...
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Oh dear, the walk down means I'll have a walk up afterwards...
Got to GZ and spotted something likely but nope. Then a bit of a wander around to no effect. Checked the hint - I'm in the right area...
Went back to that first spot and checked a little more thoroughly.
Gotcha!
Yep water getting in still. Poured more out.
Signed the new piece of paper that thankfully was only damp, and replaced. Then the slog back up the trail.

So much cooler down here compared to up the top. Cache was full of water. I think it needs replacing. Found with Taylapearce3 and GeoJess. TFTC
Found on a very windy Saturday morning visit to this beautiful forest. Cache has been leaking and log has been wet for quite a while it seems. TFTC
A great little spot to come across. Such a beautiful valley. The log is damp and we couldn’t sign.
We took the longer option down past the Strickland Falls (just a trickle) and along the Cappage Tree Loop and it was a short detour back along Stoney Creek Trail. The contents of the cache are all wet so I couldn’t sign the log.
Found 1:53 pm with Roz65, Dlturner and KazzaCosmo. This cache find along with the others today came about due to an epic tale in regard to a nearby puzzle Prince in Distress. Ages back the search in a sense started for the puzzle and recently I approached Roz65 again and yesterday she got back to me about doing the caches here. So I was in because the stars had aligned. We agreed to meet nearby and after that cache had been done we headed over to do this one. We headed off down the track and eventually reached GZ started to look around the large rock turns out that wasn't really that necessary. On the way in I had to rescue some leeches from one of ladies who discovered a couple on her foot and ankle after talking about salting them, matched and flame throwers. Funny though many hours later when I finally arrived home I discovered I had, had a visitor in my shoe and I had s lump of blood left after it had finally clotted. Log was signed and we all happily returned to the car park where we expected to meet up with team Novo.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Out today with Mr damage to get princess in distress. Thought we would pick this up first. Now for the long awaited princess.
We had finally decided for a joint effort with Mr Damage to go and get Prince in Distress. So we did this one first while waiting for Team Nova to join us.
Found this without too much difficulty after doing the arboretum walk. Container is leaking though and log book is soaking wet. Sadly I didn't bring another one either
Walking times seem very optimistic, although i did take the wrong track from the Banksia car park...
Log book was quite wet (despite the lack of rain recently...) and many logs are fading, and new ones are hard to write. Probably needs replacing.

It was such a beautiful autumn day today we headed off for a hike through Strickland State forest. I did a quick check, loaded some caches and set off. The area was such a pleasant surprise and not at all what I was expecting. The only downer were the leeches. We must have had half a dozen on each leg every time we looked down. A few made it through the shoes and socks and up the pants leg. Looked a bit like a victim of some bizarre horror movie as we left the forest.
The container was deteriorating and water has seeped in making it pretty scudgy. Didn't even attempt to write on the log. I think it would have turned to mush.

Out today with the full jcmbt1 crew and two from goodey70 hiking the Strickland trails. Another find, this time by one of the turner geokids. Log was wet but signable although we had to use a pen as the supplied biro wasn't up to the task and a pencil would have damaged the log. Good fun today and wow what a wonderful spot for hiking and lovely weather today for it too. Thanks to our geo-crew for suggesting a cach/ hiking day out here today and TFTC TeamWolfie.

Found on a damp humid afternoon.
This find marks my 200th find! Yay!
Did with the whole family to make it a bit more special. Great one to do with kids.
I lost count of how many leeches we all picked up and that was after dousing ourselves in bushmans spay.
One of the nicest spots to go for a walk on the coast.
Cache could use a more water proof container but the log was dry.

I have never been into this forest before so thanks very much for the cache and inspiring me to come here. What a spot! Lovely and quiet. Picked up one leech on my walk around but other than that the only drama is the one bird who sounds like the Predator from the movie. creepy. A quick find. A slightly longer walk back out! Enjoyed every second. TNLN TFTC
Out for a morning sabbatical with opa-shrek this morning not expecting to make any finds, but finding ourselves near enough we took a stroll creekside. The morning sun hadn't quite reached these depths making it a pleasant though cool walk. Using the limited GPS guidance to get us to GZ, with hint and geosenses got.us the rest of the way. Thanks for the reason to make the walk - TFTC!
After visiting a nearby mystery cache, Mumma-Kel and I took the opportunity to head a bit upstream to this one ... which I now find was 1.5km as the crow flies, but more than that following the track, from where we had been.
I had doubts about how well my phone's GPS would handle the terrain down here where the sun doesn't shine, but with the help of the hint, we had no trouble identifying where GZ was. Then, a bit of a search around in likely places and we had the cache in hand. Thanks for bringing us on this interesting trail and for the cache TeamWolfie.

Spend a while looking for this one, found myself completely off track. Girlfriend found this one while on the track. What would I do without her
I was looking too hard then I found it staring me in the face. TFTC signed log. Cheers
After finding a Price In Distress nearby Orrsome86 and I continued on our walk to this cache. It was a bit hillier and we were nicely puffed by the time we arrived. The bush was so thick it took a while for the GPSr's to catch up, which also let our breaths do the same. There was a fallen tree right at GZ so we searched around it and I did a full lap of the large boulder when Orrsome made the find higher up. Seems we are the first finders since the big storms late April, as they added to the challenge.
Thanks for the great walk and cache!
Thanks for the great walk and cache!
After finding Prince in distress we headed back towards the car not sure on the best possible route to approach this one. as we were walking i read the description about walking along the Stoney Creek trail. we managed to spot the stoney creek trail sign before arriving back at the car and set off. A short walk later we arrived at the geo zone. We searched for while and read the hint with still no joy. Tombi searched a bit further afield whilst i moved a large branch that had fallen in the storms. Thankfully I spotted the cache once the branch was out of the way. Signed we were on our way to the nearby Whomping Willow. TFTC
7090 Out today with the Mighty Minons grabbing her number 499 cache. Top effort Mighty and be sure to see you get many more.
This was the reason for us to come out. The Mighty's wanted to visit this one to grab a key for a nearby cache. So down in the rainforest we went. What a lovely spot! Went from the lower carpark and missed the track and walked over the creek and on the other walking tracks for awhile. We got to about 800 meters from the cache and turned around.
We got back to the creek and crossed it and then saw the stoney creek trail. We started on this trail and the numbers started going down. We got to gz and after some confusion what was gz because of the gps not getting a great signal. We found the large rock and then we found the cache and the key! TFTC

after a false try on Friday afternoon with my partner and daughters and not finding the cache ,I can give you a list of excuses,My daughter screaming from the leeches, having to hurry so we wouldn't get locked in etc but basically I was looking in the wrong spot.I really needed to find the cache as I have organised to do prince in distress this week and the key was in this cache ,So lucky Mr Roo said he would come looking with me,We set out early with the threat of rain overhead,we started down the wrong track after missing the sign [ friday we went from the top carpark ,today the bottom ] so had to back track and it wa nice stroll along the track, once at geo zone Mr Roo found the cache easily and I would have kicked myself as I was looking right beside that spot on friday but I was so happy to have the key it didn't matter. Thanks for the cache TeamWolfie
On the upside - found it

It seemed like a nice day for a walk through Strickland Forest while grabbing some caches along the way. I parked at the top car park, going via the Cabbage Tree trail and upper leg of the Stoney Creek trail to reach GZ. It took me longer than it should have to find, as I was expecting it to be on the low side of the big rock, but eventually twigged to the hiding place. I picked up two big leeches for good measure, but being barefoot I could feel them moving around and removed them before they could latch on. Thanks for the cache and for enticing me onto this nice walk.

Thanks for this cache, I very much enjoyed wandering along some of the trails here today. The forest here is just beautiful. I've only just realised now that there was a map attached to the cache page haha! Signed log and picked up the Telephone Box geocoin. TFTC TeamWolfie!
Sitting at home on the Monday of a long weekend and we wanted a cache to keep the streak alive.
As we set out the heavens open up and down came the rain, a look at the BOM radar said it shouldn't last too long and we thought we would still give this one a go.
Arriving at the lower car park the rain was down to a drizzle and we took to the nearest track watching the GPS numbers fall while the rain increased, so this is what a rainforest looks like when its raining...!!!
Brollies up and down as we made our way along the track, once the numbers had fallen to single digits the hint made for and easy find.
With signing duties done there is another one around here somewhere...!
Haven't spotted any leeches yet, I think its too wet for them...!

Drove down to the bottom carp park to give this one a shot. Wasn't planning on doing this today but somehow just ended up here. At the bottom car park there was a thick vine which somebody has cut. It now makes for a great Tarzan swing which is very strong and secure!
Luckily I had my gps with me here as I had missed the maps of the trails on the drive in. Walking along the trail I had apparently also lost all sense of direction as I was consistently heading in what I thought was the wrong direction. I placed faith in my gps until I stumbled across the cache in a good hide. Swapped TB's.
TFTC cheers

Kids traumatised by leaches.. think we counted around 20
Dropped travel bug and picked up another travel bug.. great walk
Thanks

Cool hiding place, and thanks for bringing me here. I haven't been here for 25 uears, so I did about 3 hours of bush walking today, no leeches and very pleasurable. Bring the camera and water for these walks. Left 2x Trackables for the next fit hiker. Took some creepy crawls bugs.

Had a very enjoyable walk to this one today. There had been some rain so the creek was in full swing and look great, so did the trail even if it was a tad slippery in places. We have been to some caches with great views before but the tracks have been a little ho hum. This place on the other hand is awesome, absolutely fantastic rainforest walk had a ball. Although we live fifty minutes drive from here we had no idea this place existed, this is why we go caching. At the GZ it was a fairly quick and easy find. The overall experience was great, Thanks Team Wolfie give your self's a biscuit. You get a fav point for the walk. TFTC.
Been there before about 2 years ago not knowing what Geocaching was and walked Right passed it. TFTC
I did not have any luck yesterday, but today I found it. Had a great walk again from the lower car park. Yesterday I was usind hand written description but this time I printed the information. Very easy to find with the correct information. Left soccer ball key ring. I dried the inside of the container and the swaps.Thanks.
I started from the lower car park and found the coords as best as I could with a car navigator. The battery went flat . I had a great time and will go there again soon to continue my search. The tree cover played a few tricks with my navigator so I am hoping to have better luck next time. I will check to see when it was last found and read the logs for any clues. Thanks TeamWolfie

Choose your path wisely with this one! We ended up choosing the wrong path (but it looked right at its trailhead) and walked about 1km more than was required with the doubling back to locate the right one! Once we were on the right path it was an easy find. Now to walk back up up up to the geomobile! TFTC.
Had the best walk up the creek then eventually bush bashing our way back up to the track
Awesome area and one of the best creeks
Loved the cache and had a lot of fun finding it.
Accompanied by Allturners, Mr Noo 17 and missluckie

good cache. really nice cool rainforest on a hot day. Quite a nice creek to walk along and then go up to the cache. thanx
First time I've been inside Strickland. I reckon Stoney Creek has to be one of the best creeks ever. TFTC
Stumbled on the cache whilst on a group walk through Strickland Forest. I was surprised it wasn't hidden at all, just sitting there waiting for muggles. It is a lovely forest and except for the leeches a great walk. Nice to find a cache without even looking and then having to explain what it is to the group.
Was in the area and decided to do this. From the top carpark it was an easy walk down and not so bad a walk up. I musn't be too unfit. Did it in 11 mins! Enjoyed coming here. Took dragonfly and left keyring. TFTC

We were so close to this previously but the size of the hill on a hot January day after a 1st attempt at Kenny put it out of reach.
So today it was a pleasant walk in some beautiful forest and Yes, friendly leeches. TFTC TNLN

A reasonable walk down with the added bonus of leeches.
A bit of indecision as to which path to take, don't know who came up with it, but I'll take the glory!
Walk back a bit harder with the added weight of leeches!

I wasn't sure how close I would get to this cache with the dense canopy and steep ridgelines cutting out GPS access, however I was very pleasantly surprised to get to within a metre of it.
Found by the wee gits. After 5 days of rain we probably should have considered the previous remarks regarding leeches. Lost count of how many we salted off our shoes after 20 or so. Nicely placed cache. Hidden well enough, but near enough to the path to prevent any new paths being created to the cache. Took the Millenium Falcon and left an old metal dress badge. TFTC.
I was wondering if i was ever going to get to this one following the track, but a great little walk and an easy find. Forgot the cloth to wipe the cache so used my shirt.
Strickland forest is gorgous area. Great walk along the track.
Becareful of leeches, they will drop on you quickly - maybe next person to take a few more packets of salt to leave.

Found it with the family on Sunday the 18th. It was my 1.5 y/o 1st cache. Great trail for the kids and heavily pregnant wife! Thanks for sharing this area. Had to do my best rally car impression to make the gates before 5:00!

This was a great find, fantastic walk through the forest, as we got close our GPS sent us down the side of the hill, then got itself sorted out and back up we went where we found it without to much difficulty.
TeamWolfie returned to the scene of the crime to check the cache contents this morning. Perhaps that was Moonless we passed along the track? Happy to see the cache is doing well... and thanks to all who have taken the time to visit so far. If somebody could bring along an absorbent towel (or even a clean tissue) to wipe the moisture from inside the container would be appreciated. Besides that, the log inside the resealable bag is still nice and dry. Thanks for all the great comments and keep em coming!
