We were over in the USA for a few weeks, and there were only a select few list of caches that were must-do, and this was certainly one of them!!! The Jasmer Challenge is considered the holy grail for us, as the challenge is impossible just in Australia, so travel is a must. We had gotten the Jasmer in San Francisco only 2 days ago, so it only seemed right we grab this one too Big Grin

We pulled up at the bend in the street, and made the walk down towards GZ. It was raining, and quite cool, however this area is beautiful, so we really enjoyed the walk in. We soon arrived at the closest point, and began the walk in, and after working out that the GPSr was having a sad moment, we realised where we needed to be, and quickly had the ammo tin in hand Big GrinWe happily added our name to the logbook, and replaced the cache as found [^]

TFTC shelrik, a certain fav point from us Big Grin

Following onto my signing of the logbook for the cache on the 25th September, I completed my holiday of the USA and found caches to fill all the boxes except for December 2004. I found that there was a cache in Australia which would (GCF1 Frying Pan) but it was located 525km from my home.

I had an opportunity to log a find on it in April this year but I could not find the cache and, disappointedly, I had to DNF it.

I worked on a plan to take the drive to find some older caches and Archived caches in the Sydney area this weekend with Fangsoki and Pprime and this was a definite on the list.

This time I was successful and located the cache and put my name on the log.

I am glad to finally achieve my Jasmer. I believe that I am only the second Australian to achieve this milestone.

I signed the log last year, 8-18-13, when I was in the area. I was so excited because I was going to find the last 2 caches I needed to complete the Jasmer. Well, I did find the caches and promptly forgot to log this as a find. Time to claim my smiley! My profile page will show my proof.

You can check our profile and readily see that we have met ALL requirements to find this cache. We do have a shared list as well. Found the cache and signed the log. We appreciate the placement of this cache for the effort of completing JASMER, found signed and motored on. One more Geo-adventure complete. Glad not to have come here in the wet weather.

From Australia, we were passing through on a road trip from LA to Seattle and picking up some old caches along the way to complete my calendar. Currently I have 5 months to fill and hope to get 4 of them in Portland. The other one will have to wait until I can get to a suitable cache. I signed the log book in anticipation of completing the challenge some time soon. I will then post a find on the cache.

We do not have any Jasmer Challenge caches in Australia.

It was after sundown when we finally arrived after some driving where the rental company would not want to know about.

Had to search for the cache by torchlight but got it with the help of the hint.

The Jester's run to find Potter's Pond as #4500 - the trip home after success!

Wow! What a trip! We took a two week trip to fill in the three holes I needed for this challenge. We have a new Forrester which we were testing on this trip - we found out some of limits of the vehicle, and the limits of our nerves! [B)] The Wah Wah Stash was an adventure all on it's own! Surprised But we made it thru everything, had a blast doing so, and stopped by here on the way home. Big Grin I had a geocoin I was supposed to drop here, but forgot to, darn it! [:(!] Thanks for the hunt.

Gps was being buggy in here.

After an awesome road trip last weekend to get Potters Pond, I just had to find this one. With daughter in tow, I schlepped out here to make the find. I have a bookmark list and my profile shows the finds by month stats.

Well, it's been a long time coming, but I have finally finished the jasmer challenge. Found the last cache on 9/2/2012 (Vitreous), so what better way to wind up a three day weekend other than finding the challenge cache for it. This is also my 3500th cache, so what better cache to make a milestone. Took a bit to find it, as the GPSr bounce here was incredible, but using the iPhone app, I was able to narrow it down to the correct spot. Following is my list of 2000/2001 placed caches. Will upload a screen shot showing my full month/year stats after I do my GSAK update. I want to thank all the CO's who have kept these older caches up and running over the years. I'd also like to thank my fellow geocachers who helped me make some of the older and more difficult finds, it was a long (but not strange) trip (you know who you are, so I won't embarass you here Wink). I will cherish the journey's we had together and for the ones that we'll have in the future. SL, T4TH&C

What an excellent adventure completing this challenge has been! We noticed that we were just 10 away from finishing when we first heard about a Jasmer challenge, without even trying. Of course, the hardest ones to get were left! A plan was conceived and Mrs McGeester hit the road with Dragon's Passion 4 Caching on a five day, five state road trip, picking up Potter's Pond, Vitreous, Need a Drink and Southern Idaho's First along with many other great caches. Yesterday we hiked up to Mitchell Point to fill in the last date we needed, that was an awesome adventure in itself! Many thanks for placing an Oregon version of this challenge! We have created a bookmark list and will post a screenshot of our Jasmer grid from My Geocaching Profile too.

Finally completed the Jasmer! The challenge began for me around last October when I realized I only needed 5 more slots. The only one that required a dedicated trip was August 2000, the rest of them I picked up via side trips. Now the next challenge is to find more Jasmer Challenge caches in other states!

Here's my list, based on the first cache I found for each month:

Score!! Cool Made the trek up here to find this one with Alamogul on August 9, 2011 but I did not qualify at that time however I signed the log book and only posted a note on that date. NVlady and I stopped on our way up to the 2012 Block Party in Seattle on Friday to log GC53C and then last night on our way home we found GC5F so I could finish this challenge. Thanks for the fun and for giving me a reason to get out and have some fun. Cool

I completed my grid last night, and SignaltheFrog and I drove over this morning to sign the final cache. This challenge has provided great challenge and fun as I worked to finish off those last few hard months to find. We made a wild run through 5 states in 5 days to get some of them, and had all kinds of adventures along the way. THANKS 4 providing the incentive and challenge!

Signed in February, but finally qualified today after bagging XKD380 in Nevada (Dec. 2000) yesterday and then getting a June 2012 cache today. That was fun! XKD380 was also my 10,000th find. Thanks!

For the third year in a row we are doing a geocaching road trip to the US in the spring. This year we will spend 3½ weeks driving from Las Vegas to Seattle (including a few days just north of the American/Canadian border).

When we started planning the road trip we especially focused on one goal: To get closer to the completion of the Jasmer Challenge. It seemed unlikely that we would find all the months we were missing, and if we could reduce the number of missing months from six to two we would be happy! (The two remaining caches would probably not be accessible at this time of the year). However, to our great surprise (and by the generous help from the local geocacher firennice in Utah) we managed to find Potters Pond from August 2000, and yesterday we found the other questionable cache (GC17 from July 2000) as well as our very last missing month (May 2000 represented by GC12).

With our qualification completed we checked the location of the nearest Jasmer Challenge cache and found out that there was in fact one nearby. Smile Actually it would fit perfectly with our planned route (as we were going from Wilsonville, Oregon to Vancouver, Washington). Heading for the The Oregon Jasmer and continuing along the Historic Columbia River Highway would offer a very scenic route from one hotel to the other! Unfortunately the clouds were hanging extremely low today, so the trip was not all that scenic after all... An exception was the magnificent Multnomah Falls. What a great place! When we crossed the Bridge of the Gods into Washington State the weather improved and we got a better chance to enjoy the great scenery.

It felt almost unreal that we had already reached our Jasmer goal! When we arrived in the US on 11 May this year we thought it would require another trip across the pond (next year)! It has been a great challenge to qualify and has given so many memorable moments! Of course we can't mention them all in this log, but one of the most touching moments was when we found Pyle Driver (GC1C94) which was placed on 9-11-2001 as a reaction to the 9/11 attacks. Sitting in the mountains near San Diego thinking back to that date was absolutely surreal! We have of course also had many pleasant experiences along the way to completion! Finding Potters Pond together with firennice was one of them! Finding the oldest geocache in Denmark together with good friends was another! In the attached screen dump which documents our qualifying finds from 2000 and 2001 we have included info about the distances of the caches to our home coordinates. Just as a fun reminder to ourselves that this project has required a whole lot of traveling! Smile We have also included the "Finds by Placed Month" chart as a screen dump. The final attached picture shows our personal geocoin (and signatures) on the cache container. Smile

The log book was signed at 10:57.

There are a lot of great memories associated with the finds and acquiring the months to meet this challenge. Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful place along a little-known road. You can go to our public profile on Geocaching.com to see our stats which were last updated in early April 2012. Because the stat sheet doesn't list April 2012 and May 2012 to bring us current, here are the found caches for those months: GC39PGZ Air Center Nano, found on 4/25/12; GCHAYD Vanshireheusen, found on 5/25/12.

Still a wee bit of snow on the ground in places.....but a fun find on a beautiful, sunny day! Our bookmark of 2000 and 2001 finds is linked, we made sure that we have all other months including the 4 months in 2012. Since we started caching in 2002, we only had a few months that we needed to fill in. TN, left a kiwimonster was here pen. Thank you!

this is my 2nd Jasmer Challenge done (though the first one called Jasmer in its title, but it was the same thing) having already done the one in Washington State. Unlike the Fizzy, a Jasmer is just a Jasmer no matter how you call it, same criteria. Oregon got me January 2001, May 2000 and July 2000 (and a 2nd June 2000), the rest of the 2000s (minus Washington) I went to Arizona, Utah and Southern Idaho to finish it. My profile shows all my GSAK fun. Wish I had chosen a less rainy day, was a little nervous on all these roads but I made it. Would rather have a worthy challenge in a crazy isolated spot than in a strip mall LPC any day.

Finding ourselves on the west/wet side of the mountains this weekend, we were finally able to track down this cache. The box is in good shape and in a beautiful location. We enjoyed the drive along back roads, in an area through which we've not traveled before. For us, the toughest part of this worthy challenge was attending a CITO event; they seem to be few and far between (or far away) in Oregon. Thanks, shelrik, for a fun adventure!

#3000
When I first saw this cache come out, I investigated the requirements and decided that this was a challenge I would never complete. After polishing off the Oregon History Challenge, I revisited this one and saw that I had made a nice dent in it and could finish it off with some hard work in the area around Portland and one long trip through Idaho, Utah and Nevada. Nessker and I had a great road trip this summer and I have been saving this one for my 3000th find, which was today!!! Nessker and verano accompanied me on this drizzly day (perfect weather for nessker) and nessker gave me a 3000 finds geocoin to commemorate the occasion. Thank you for facilitating these wonderful adventures. Please see my log on 07/09/2011 for the logging requirements.

What a great experience to find this cache with longtrails for his 3000th. What an adventure we had getting to this point and perhaps someday I can officially claim this find. Thanks to all that have been a part of keeping the adventures exciting
