Nice to be able to find a cache while doing the Overland Track. We decided to have a rest day here, so stayed in Pelion hut for two nights. Found with Chief and muggle son on our walk back to have a look at Old Pelion Hut.

Found 2:12 pmA quick find on the way to the old hut for a quick dip in the river on this warm day. This is Day 2 of doing the Overland track. The weather was just ideal over the 6 days / 5 nights on the trail. Some impressive views nearby. Some nice campsites here too.TFTC Team DBMSP

Geodaughter and I were walking the Overland Track with the Tasmanian Walking Company and we got to introduce 12 new friends to the wonders of geocaching. Im logging this now that weve finished the walk - it was amazing, difficult, trudgetastic at times. So on this beautiful day we had just been down to the old coal mine and had a quick swim at old Pelion hut swimming hole. With the clue, it was a quick find and sign and a passer by took a group photo for us. Thanks for the cache.

Came to this cache on day three of the overland track. Our guide, Piper actually found it first and was straight in there. OCW cherryfromtheblock while doing the overland track. This was my favourite day on the track going into the old mine and finding a cache before heading to fossil beach. Lots of animals out today TFTC

A fun quick find while trekking along the trail to our next hut.

Well this is the longest delay I have ever had between finding a cache and completing the online deposit of the log! Did the Overland Track tramp in March 2023 and this was the only cache I visited during the 6 days on the route For various reasons I've not done any further geocaching since that time so the draft has been sitting on my phone for over a year My apologies!The cache contents were not in good condition so it was a bit disappointing Nevertheless it was a good concept so thanks for setting it up

Found this cache while walking in via the Arm River track and stopping at Basil Steers Hut No3, climbed Ossa today and walking out via Mt Pillinger tomorrow. Thanks!

I wasn’t expecting this to be so close to the hut. Had been checking on it since leaving waterfall but never really got close to it. At 4th river gave up and when I got to Pelion thought I would have another look. 150 away yep let’s go and get it.
Crap container but such an awesome spot and walk how could I not give it a favourite at the end of the third Of this awesome walk. Tftc

At last! My only physical cache for the whole of the Overland Track. I walked for 6 days and got one traditional cache and 2 earth caches.

I was determined to get this.

I was walking with an organised group and had been near the back of the group for the whole trip. We stopped at Old Pelion Hut and I headed off before the group to ensure that I had time to find this one.

In the end I didn't need much time as the cache was sitting happily as it is described in the hint. I was great to get it out and sign the log.

When I first walked the Overland track more than 10 years ago there was a series of these caches along the track but geocaching wasn't yet on my radicand as the years passed this series has dwindled to just one.
So I feel quite privileged to finally log one

Day 4 of our Overland Track adventure. We had walked for over 9 hrs yesterday so today decided to spend our time looking around Pelion. We walked to Old Pelion and also the mine at the back of the hut. We explored around the river and saw numerous fossils. On our way back we stopped for this cache. The log was just mush and sadly I didn't have anything to replace it with. I have a photo if the CO would like it. It was pouring with rain, snowing and sleeting today. The hut was nice and warm and our family had a room to ourselves. We are hoping to see lots of snow up on the pass tomorrow - hard to imagine it is Summer in Australia. Thanks for placing this cache...eatmorchikin from Brisbane!

After a long day from Windermere, we could finally see New Pelion in the distance. A quick step off the track and find for this one. The log wasn't wet but a solid bit of paper, no doubt dried from another time it was wet. We didn't have any paper to add to it, but perhaps the next cache might.

New Pelion is a great hut and very comfortable to sit around and take the view of the surrounding plains.

We came prepared to find the cache. If we had read previous logs before we came, we would have come prepared to replace the saturated log book with a fresh, dry one. But we didn't. Hopefully someone will. Great to have a cache to find on our Overland Track adventure. Thanks for putting it here.

We walked in via the Arm River track on Saturday to camp at Frog Flats. Today, Sunday, we made an attempt on Mt Pelion West but could not manage the last 60 vertical metres due to slippery conditions on the huge boulders. We made our way back to camp at Pelion Hut in the afternoon. On Monday we returned to the car, hoping to climb Mt Pillinger on the way, but all the mountains were clagged in. TFTC.

The log is totally saturated and needs to be replaced with a properly waterproof container and dry paper. Perhaps the next person who intends to find this could do it if the CO can't.

Group of 4 hiking the overland trail and went for a little treasure hunt halfway! Thanks to the person who hid it all the way out here!!!

I am out here on my first solo trek. I am loving it so much. The people I have meet along the way have been awesome. Although this walk has not been about caching it is hard not to stop when I am walking straight pass.
This has been my favourite night on the trek the sky has been so blue and the was clear. The stars made the sky look like a star snow dome.

Today was a wet day after some beautiful weather, thankfully we got to the hut before the thunderstorms! After some time the rain stopped and I ventured out to look for this cache. Once found the log was signed quickly so I could move on as the leeches were out looking for victims. TFTC

Having just left Old Pelion hut we made our way into our campsite for the evening & found this one along the way.

Day 3 of our Overland Track guided walk. A gorgeous morning walking out from our Hut turns into a drizzly, leechy day. After a stop at Old Pelion Hut we had a look at an abandoned copper mine, its resident cave spider and some glow worm sparkly strings. We're excited to find this geocache. The scroll was absolutely saturated when I got there, and it could not be written on, so i inserted another piece of paper and signed my name on it... I hope this is ok TFTC

Great spot for the cache We did the 6 day Overland track, and decided to quickly find this cache without a GPS! so we counted about 200 steps from the intersection and found it Thanks!

Along the overlandtrack we found this cache. We spend one extra day at new pelion Hut and explore the surroundings.
The Logbook is wet , we take a picture but sadly the mobile didn't save any picture of the whole trip..

In May, I spend some wonderful days in Tasmania together with xhead. The wild nature with its mountains, steep cliffs and wide, green forests was amazing. Especially we liked the special wildlife you can only find here. We visited Port Arthur, the really great Unzoo where you can spot Tasmanian devils and many other animals, we hiked in the Cradle Mountain Park and explored some places on the North coast before taking the ferry to Melbourne. On our Tassie-visit, we searched for some caches. Some were really well hidden, and it took us some time to find. Thanks a lot to the Tasmanian GC-Community for hiding all this caches.

Together with Akirey I spent some weeks on Tasmania. We visited many great spots like the Unzoo in the South East or the wilderness near Mt.Ossa. Also we searched for some caches and luckily we found the most if them.

This was found half way through our journey along the Overland Track. We arrived at camp and before settling in for dinner quickly collected this. A good spot with an amazing view.

We then spent the following day resting here, exploring for fossils, swimming in waterholes and marvelling at the beautiful Mt Oakleigh in the distance.

Thanks for putting something tangible out there to be signed.

Our third day on the Overland Track. Today we started at Frog's Flats and the goal of the day is the beautiful hut of Kia Ora. In between we want to have a visit to Mt. Pelion East.

100th find in beautiful central Tassie! A quick find near Pelion hut, 3 days into the overland track. Weather was against us for the previous caches on the track, so it was nice to get one close to the main track. The wild flowers are amazing here this time of the year, especially the waratahs. We woke up with the tent covered in snow 2 days after finding this cache, and had a great day hiking through the snow. The log was a bit damp, but still in usable condition. I would've dried it out if the weather was better. Thanks for the cache DBMSP, a memorable trek, and a great place to bring up my 100th find. SL.

Beautiful sunset at Pelion hut after 3 days of hiking the overland track. Staying in a tent at night was a bit cold. We had a bit of snow the first night. But hiking through this beautiful landscape and seeing wombats, possums, pademelons and wallabies was a great adventure. And after 3 days the backpack got a bit lighter as I had eaten a good chunk of the food I brought.
The little container is still fine. Logbook was dry. Found it easily.

Found on our wonderful Overland track trip, bit soggy

#1757 - Found by B after a day walk ascent of Mt Ossa. B was filling out log as a late walker passed by! All part of the fun and challenges on out AroundOz bicycle tour. (The bikes were hidden down at the Arm River Car park - stayed at Pelion Hut two nights.) The find was one of the easiest for a while.

As Stealth, Chip, Gronk and I were spending 12 days walking in the area, we really could not walk by the cache. Today we had a rest day at Pelion Hut, which worked out perfectly as it rained for most of the day. Eventually the rained stopped for a while and we were able to make the find.

My first T5! Yeah! Easy find if you keep to the track. Had a great trip on the overland! Logbook dry again.

This was an easy find but the log was completely disintegrated so replaced it (with the only paper I had which I am afraid was not a scroll) and double bagged it for protection. TFTC.

We walked past this one when we came from Waterfall Valley, but it's only a very short walk back from Pelion hut. The scrolls are still safe although they were pretty exposed, so I covered them up a bit with some rocks again. TFTC!

Found with hubby while on a scout camping trip to the area. A nice easy stroll to stretch our legs after a day of hiking (Mt Ossa and Pelion East).
Stunning area, the walking tracks go through some beautiful forest areas, well worth a visit.

TFTC, up Arm River track for a gourmet weekend in the Pelion Palace, didn't expect to caching.

Found it on a very chilly morning after camping at Pelion Hut, even though gps decided to stop working. Just read the hint and a couple of the recent posts. TFTC.

Took the earth coin for a walk, alas someone has liberated the Thailand coin. Had I read the logs I might have known this and would have been only too happy to replace it with one from my collection.

I was ambushed by two very determined leaches while attempting to secure this find. Ahh the pains!!

Found it on second attempt. First one I got leeches in my crocs and crawling over my GPS. Left TB Earth Coin.

Passed this on the way to New Pelion hut on Day 3 of the OT, but was in such a hurry to head up Mt Oakleigh while the weather was still good that I didn't stop to look and ended up coming back later to find it by torchlight. Nice easy find; despite the challenges of the OT I think 5 stars for terrain is a bit of an exaggeration... TFTC.

Stayed the night at Pelion Hut during a storm. So much water! Mrs Bindel went out in the morning to fetch this one while Mr Bindel was taking some photos of the plains. She managed to pick up a leech on the short trip from the hut to the cache and back. Plenty of travel bugs were packed in my backpack for the visit - a little disappointed we could not leave them to make the pack a bit lighter!

Found whilst staying the night at nearby accommodation during a 5 day hike in the park. Quick find but the scroll, unfortunately, is badly in need of replacement, being rather damp, fragile and barely signable. I really enjoy being able to grab a cache that requires a bit of effort to reach, especially in such a magical area as this. Many thanks DBSP
