#658 after meeting up with lucky1955, celtical & alnic39 in Windsor it was decided that we wanted to get this cache and to remove it with the bridge to be demosihed soon so they can build a better bridge it was decided that this was the best time to do it. We were on the single lane bridge deciding how we were going to get down to the location & getting out of the way of oncoming cars when alnic decided that he was going in. Eventually we heard the call of found it. Removed the cache to the light of day we all signed it with a photo for celtical for her 1000th cache find. Thanks for the cache
Word was around that the bridge this troll lives under was due to be replaced. Whilst archived it still existed.
So with a party consisting myself, celtical, phlphotos & alnic39 made a beeline for this bridge in an attempt to find it. The group surveyed the area for a possible way down not liking the first drop. I made a call to a known cacher that works not too far away and enquired about getting a ladder to use. One was available but before getting into a car to retrieve it Alnic39 had decided to climb down. After a short search those of us up top breathed a sigh of relief when the call rang out 'I've got it'.
The cache was retrieved and will not be replaced, Al has ideas though on reusing it with another new hide. The log was signed by all of us present.
A momentous occasion for celtical as this was her 1000th find

1000th woohoo!!
I had intended to do Evil Nemesis as my 1000th but a phone call from Lucky1955 this morning changed my plans. But being the last people to find an archived cache before it gets relocated is pretty cool!!
Beautiful day for a spot of caching with Lucky1955, alnic39 & phlphotos. We looked at the bridge, and tried to find an easy way down, in the end alnic39 was the brave one to go under, with us all offering encouragement.
thanks for sharing my 1000th with me fellas! TFTC

We were aware that a new bridge was on the cards here, so this archived cache needed to be found soon.
Very unlike me to climb down such an awkward drop, but I looked at it for long enough and I thought "why not?" I didn't want to leave it for another time only to find out it was gone.
Now, if you are one who likes to find archived caches, don't look for this one. I have removed it. I plan to use the container and title for a cache to be placed in a series later in the year.

This cache has been in my sites since completing I Love Port II as felt the cache container was never recovered. So Team Merlin and I we went on a recon mission to rescue the TB contained within this cache. I PAF to ensure we were going to the correct location. Gambled that been Winter the cache guardian may be absent and headed under like a troll. The approach to the cache was very over grown with blackberries and bracken. Once through the blackberries their was a clearing and the cache container was quickly spotted and in hand. No guardian in site at GZ. Large recent rain events and high water level also had not effected this cache. The cache container and log was in excellent condition especially as it was archived in 19.3.2012. Signed log and returned the cache. One #2 DKS Key TB removed from cache and back in circulation. TFTC
A plan had been hatched, friends consulted, and the weather rather crisp (just right for an attack on the hopefully hibernating cache quardians).
[fade in Mission Impossible themed music] Our mission if we choose to accept was to log an archived cache (our first) that hadn't been found for close to three and half years...and rescue a trapped TB.
Looking over the edge of the bridge were we had been told the cache laid was not an option as the area was filled with marauders from the combined gangs of the blacks and berries. The drop down was also a good two plus metres...an alternate route was needed.
Crossing the road from GZ the marauders were again circling, but a small opening in their defenses was spotted and JJCC took the leap coming off somewhat second best. But once through JJCC was able to scramble under the attacking thorn gangs and work around to GZ.
In the last three years this bridge has under water with minor flooding, but surprisingly the cache container was found and in excellent condition. Inside the contents were also in excellent condition and the log was signed (objective 1 complete) with the TB also retrieved (objective 2 complete).
Other contents returned and the cache replaced for someone else to find...if they are game.
TFTC ack son of hack and well done JJCC for taking that leap (ouch!!!)

Will have to archive this one a snake has moved into the access area too the cache. A BIG NASTY BROWN one and someone noticed a black as well. I am not even game enough to recover the cache..
Oh well plenty of players got it. Thanks Acko

Ok so i found myself out this way for work and thought i might as well check the area out carefully, considering the warning. I'll confirm that there is a very large brown snake that now calls this bridge home and extreme caution should be taken.
I gave the snake i wide berth and managed to get in and make a quick find regardless and made my way out by climbing out the other side. Glad to get this off my list finally.

SNAKe seen near entry to GZ. will, I think, have to move this one.Don't think I am game enough to try and recover it!!!!
I thought I had a pretty good idea of where this would be but as I went to climb down the bank, I saw a fairly large red-belly black snake curled up on the rock I needed to step on Although he quietly slid away into a hole, I knew I'd have to walk past him and I didn't want to frighten him so we left this one go.
Well all i can say is we found it. Wish i had read others logs first, as there is a hole about 2ft deep near the barrier that is covered in grass. Poor geowife fell straight in said hole, she is now minus big toe nail. TFTC SL TNLbigtoenail.(not in cache) lol.
Thanks For The Cache

we stood back and let geohubby go find this one...he got quite a fright when the car went over and nearly knocked himself out...finally had cache in hand sl and he got out of there. tftc
Decided to leave this one to GeoBIL to retrieve. Great to met you Ack son of Hack. TFTC.
I can't believe this took more than a minute to find because I had the wrong assumptions about where it would be. In the meantime, there was the sound of a car or two rattling above my head. Thanks
Did this cache on a sunny Sunday morning with Geodaughter. Went to the wrong side of the road and realized we had to be on the other side and we soon had the cache in hand. Daughter loved the sound of passing traffic. TFTC

Reperio at 0730. Stopped by here on the way from Wiseman's Ferry to Carlingford, and just as I pulled up, the rain started up again. Luckily the cache was in a good spot so the log didn't get wet when I opened up the cache. Getting back up onto the road proved a bit more challenging slipping on the slippery slope, but it was fun.

Definately loud when trucks drive overhead, didn't take too long to find this cache.
Fantastic place for the port though.
Thanks for the cache ack.

The GPS took me to the corner of the bridge, and I started to look, then checked the terrain rating - aha - the location to look was obvious, and after an attempt at accessing the right area the right was was easily seen and then accessed. A couple of minutes later I was back in the car with the log signed and the cache back in place.
thanks.
Oh, and even knowing the cars were coming does not make them any less loud and unnerving.
thanks.

Gee!! we have a good fun and finally found the container. No swap. Signed the log. Thanks ack son of hack.
Searched while long and the muggles cars/trucks drive the bridge lot. Disturb our searching but finally found it by everlasting. thanks for leading us here.
Felt like a bit of a troll looking for this one and the constant jingle of the passing cars was a bit unnerving. Nice hide. Yes I too love Port, and Red Wine, and White Wine and Beer and and and

A nice quick find on a day of frustrating misses today. Made no swaps, thanks for the fun.
I like Port as well, not sure how this is relevant to the Bridge, a nice spot though SL TNLN TFTH
My second attempt at locating this cache, the last was quite some time ago!!

after a full day of caching we couldn't drive (by) this one on our way home without giving it a go, so with flashlights fading we had a look, we were about to give up, thinking this one needed to be done during daylight hours. but we checked one final location and BINGO, few swaps for the kids and SL, TFTC
Satanas 666 went west, I went east, and I got the cache, and some blackberry thorns as well!
It was unnerving to have the cars thunder over our heads. Thanks for the find.

Wow.. what a way to wake up if you tend to cache while bound up in your own thoughts like me and the cache placed inches from wheels... scary stuff

Littlebub and I came down here after work - 6.15pm. Not the ideal time for cacheing around bridges, thankyou trusty torch!! In between cars on the bridge this is quite a peaceful spot. Lots of insects flitting over the water, and heaps of little fishes jumping to catch the insects. TNLN TFTC.
Possibly not the brightest idea to go hunting for this one just as it was getting darker!!! Thanks to Argeisia a Ca for coming up with the goods... never seen so many lizards and skinks in one area!!!
There was a lot of traffic this morning - it's quite startling when they pass! A pair of Superb Fairy-wrens were twittering and flitting about, putting on quite a show. Nice animal underpass! Thank you for sharing a bit more history, the acoustical bridge, and for another nice cache Acko!
Nice easy find on a nice sunny day. The cars make a lot of noise as they go over the bridge.

The geo-family sat this one out as the light rain had increased to a steady torrent. I emerged wet, muddy and scratched but victorious after a short search. Thanks Acko.
We started our morning with a north bound cache not too far from my Sisters place and another nearby acko cache at that.
It's great to get back out to this neck of the woods and just take in the sights, whether it's strange letter boxes or country views this area has it all. The cache was located quickly after a bit of an unorthodox method of getting down to the next level! Also keeping ever vigilant for Joe Blakes! None seen though on this 36° day we soon logged our find, dropped a coin and replaced the cache. Thanks acko for bringing us here! TNLN

Nice easy find. Had to hide under the bridge as a few muggles passed by, by was not seen.
Nice & quick drive-by. Interesting to read swampgecko's log about the bricks in the creek. Took TB.

Found after a short search, had to think for a moment and all was well. Guess I get FTF on this. Nice find though lots of traffic made the searching more intermittent. Dropped a TB. Thanks Acko.
I was here quite some time looking, playing photographer when there was passing traffic.
I was about to give up when I was approached by a local, he asked if he could be of assistance, I replied I was fine, explained that I was getting some images for an upcoming photographic comp(Must check when the club is holding the next open comp...) and that the bridge was full of wonderful colours, shapes and patterns...Blah blah blah...bull$h!t, bull$h!t, bull$h!t.......
He then explained to me that this was the second bridge here at this spot, the first collapsed about 25-30 years before, when a truck loaded with bricks was on it... that explains the bricks in the creek.
