A mad dash, was I in a Dash, across to Flinders Island today to grab a couple of caches and publish an AL. I wasn't sure that I would find this one . Especially after my first foray into the bushes that resulted in my find of a pile of empty beer bottles. That wasn't successful, so I tried a different approach and was very pleasantly surprised to notice the cache immediately. That was when I realised in my hurry this morning I came without a writing utensil. I changed jeans, jackets and of course cars. I have a photo that I am sending to the COTFTC The Riddeller TNLN
Staying in Flinders for a week and this afternoon we visited Lady Barron after the rain finally stopped. This cache was a quick find after disappearing into the bush. It was a bit of a squeeze but we managed it. TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan
Glad I persevered with this one, I found it on my third time looking. In my own defence, however it was just on dark first time I looked. Pretty excited to see it’s had also been found yesterday according to the logbook. There is another cacher in town!
So excited to have been able to find a geocache on Flinders Island! Thanks for placing the cache.
In Tassie for March, cutting a lap and finding a few caches along the way.
Nice and quick find. Happy to have a smiley on the only trad on the island
Riddell, I found Lady Barron today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Riddell, I found Lady Barron today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
Found this morning with Morgothegeo and Sandyofthesea after the CITO event on the wharf. TFTC
my little cousin and I are waiting for dinner and thought we'd have a squizz took a bit of looking but we found it
My annual Australian Island exploration brought me to Flinders Island to add to my list - while the bf decided he needed to try for squid at the wharf I thought I’d check the app for any finds. Since we only here this afternoon glad I checked today since this is the physical only cache on the entire island! As always overthought the location, gps moved a little bit then knew I had to think like a kid and there it was! Cache dry and in good condition. Glad to find pencil in log. TFTC!
We came for a day trip to Flinders Island with goingplaces2 and added this cache to our list of things to do. Found it easily and signed the log with both names. Thanks for adding this cache to our enjoyment of the island.
We arrived on a short visit to Flinders Island with ilook4geo and we were happy to find the only traditional cache placed here. It was in good condition and the log was soon stamped with both names to record our visit. We were then blown back to the car to continue our exploration of the island. Thanks for placing this cache go to The Riddeller.
Spent the day touring around the island and after a quick search of GZ, found the cache!

Found it. There is a pad and pencil inside a plastic bag. Nice corner of the world
On a wet and grey afternoon touring around Flinders island finally got to grab this cache. I’d seen it on a previous trip but didn’t get to Lady Barron. A short walk from the Furneaux Tavern and soon the cache was in hand. Well hidden and surprised to see I was the second find for the day. TFTC The Riddeller!
Out today on the last full day of my flinders island adventure. After what was a somewhat unsuccessful morning out fishing, my next mission was to tackle the last couple caches left to complete on the island. With all the earthcaches now done I was off to collect the only physical cache on the island that I know off.
With my little brothers and girlfriend racing out the car to go and find the cache before me, a quick found it and the container was spotted and signed by me soon after.
Thanks for the cache
Loved caching out the island, it's a shame that there isn't more here, hopefully when I am down on my next trip with the family to our friends house I can change that a bit.

We are new to geocaching but regular visitors to Flinders Island, happy to have a cache to locate
Loved Flinders...such a nice place

Aquilus1 and I have been on a mission.....a mission to collect Australian states/counties. The target this time was Tasmania, with neither of us having found a cache yet in Tassie. So a loop was planned, starting/finishing in Lonny (even the plane pilot called it this!! Love that!). I was driving so my logs are a little more generic than Aquilus1's, my apologies.
Day #1 Leave Canberra at sparrows, transiting through Melbourne and collecting our car....first things first was to get the oldies along the cataract gorge, which was great as Aquilus1 had never been to Tassie before and its a great place to start. Onwards up the Tamar and then zigzagging across through Devonport, Burnie and eventually ending at Stanley.
Day #2 had us go back to Devonport for a FTF......yay! Then onto Hobart, via Queenstown! Long day through blizzards, hydro power and SO MUCH NOTHING! Beautiful nothing of course
Day #3 around Tassie.....into Huon valley, freezing to death in the water in Clarence, passed Port Arthur to see some caves and ending up in Sorrell
Day #4 was power trailing large letterboxes until we had to head back north to Lonny, via Buckland, Oatlands, Fingal and Scottsdale..... dodging wildlife after dark.....so scary!
Day #5 was a quick duck over to Flinders and back..... car rental place thought we were nuts! Then back to Canberra, safe and snug under my blanket for the -5 night.....now THATS cold!

The only Trad on the Island so of course we made the trip across to find it! Found in the obvious spot after a little squeeze to get to it and the very last cache of the trip. Flinders Island, what a great place!
Trip log: Day 5 of 5 with GreyHams on our Tasmanian Caching Trip. A trip planned with counties, and caches of quality as we pass. If your cache made our list it had a quality we sort... thank you for your cache!
Today was all about Flinders Island, we took the plane over in the morning, a memorable experience of many interesting passengers but the crew were great and got us there not too late. The car hire people are a wealth of information and with our itinery tight we were secure that our choices would serve us well... they thought we were nuts to just be there for the time we were but 5 hours we saw a lot!
I was surprised at how mountainous Flinders was, it totally surprised me and with the scenic bays and mountain vistas it was quite spectacular. Of course our time went quick but we spent it well and then it was back across to Lonny were we made the connecting flights that took us home... but Tassie, you delivered!

Our first full day on FI and this is the first geocache for the day. We spent most of the day talking to the locals and finding out all the places that are “we must do!” It was also a time to discover eating places and their time of opening. Food is also important on this trip!!
Found the cache quickly because we read previous logs which indicated the likely hide.

TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Has to be a favorite.
We arrived on Flinders Island this morning and went to explore the southern end of the island first. This was our first cache hunt. We were a little apprehensive about the location of the cache as it appeared to be on private property. We read back through previous logs and it seemed to confirm our thoughts about the location f the cache. So we went where we thought the cache was located and we made a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks The Riddeller for the cache
Well today's the day TaurusSix and I went looking for this cache. We had a bit of trouble spotting it. The hunt was ever so close to being called off, but in one last push the cache was found.
Have come to Flinders Is for the week for sightseeing, exploring and walking. Unfortunately it is blowing a gale (literally) today so no walking, but a bit of car touring instead.
An easy find, but had to sneak past the council worker cutting the grass. Pretty sure he didn't notice.
thanks for the cache The Riddeller.

Easily found. In good nick. Visiting the island for a weekend getawaygetaway. Pity not more caches here.

Caching with MJH1970.
Sailed into Lady Barron to get some more diesel for the yacht on the return trip to sydney.. so grab the opportunity to grab this one to get another Tassie county.
A quick and easy find and now time to eat in the tavern and dry of that 3m surf coming thru the eastern passage.

When a friend asks if you would like him to fly you to Flinders Island, you don’t say no! So MontsII headed off with the two caches on the island downloaded in his phone. He found the well hidden cache in the park and continued on to the earth cache. TFTC The Riddeller
I propose the owner relocates the cache as it currently is on private property, even though only just.
Came to Flinders Island on our yacht and have been looking around for a few days. Of course I had to get the caches and souvenirs. Gps swinging about a bit but managed to hone in on it when I read some previous logs. Cache in good condition tftc and hello 2019
Found it! Well that was the quickest find ever! Muggle Heather spotted it poking out from under the fence! A great way to start our week long walking adventure on Flinders Island! We hid the cache better than we found it! For future cachers, just follow the fence line! Might even place a couple of new caches! Think I could come back here! TFTC SL
Looked around for a while, didn't find a cache... found a couple good hiding spots but no luck... any clues?
A week of walking all around the place on Flinders Island - what a lovely area. A few nice mountains to climb and miles of gorgeous coastline.
We stopped in at Lady Barron for a drink at the pub and I ducked around to find this cache. it was a bit further along than I first looked but found after 5 minutes TFTC

We spent five wonderful days on Flinders and stayed not far from Lady Barron. We spent a short while looking for this cache but with no luck.
Visiting Flinders Island on our way to the Wooden Boat Show in Hobart. And we've thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Made a quick dash back down to Lady Barron to retrieve this cache this evening. Left a halfpenny. SL. TFTC.
Our first cache in the southern hemisphere! Nice to find one on flinders island. Found late afternoon when very quiet and no one around. TFTC
### Insular lunch and geocache ###
After landing at Whitemark and receiving a hire car, geogourmet and I were told that no food was available nearby. If we wanted to eat we would have to go to Lady Barron. That's okay I thought because my old pal Riddell has a cache hidden over there. The steak at the Furneaux Tavern was fine thank you very much. Post lunch I happily found the geocache in good condition.

Found to-day quite easily and the cache is in good shape. Last log entry was in September but it seems they never logged it to this site. Thanks Riddell for this cache. Its a pity that there are no other caches on this wonderful island.
On holiday for Christmas with family, lovely to find a cache and play in the park. Love the rivet! We are off to stock up on food for things shutting down the next few days, then off to feed the wallabies. Tftc!
Braved the attention of an angry dog to find cache while on working visit to Flinders Island. Left copper rivet from wreckage of boat on Vansittart Island several kilometres to south. Pretty park on a beautiful island. TFTC
No April Fools today. Found 1/4/2013. First visit back to Flinders in 23 years. Hope to see some more caches in next visit.
Found on 10th of Jan 2013
TFTC Pity there aren't a few more on Flinders Island.
We are off to Cape Barron Island later to hopefully find the other one.

Found on 12/12/12 in the 12th hour - on our trip to see our relos. Geokids nipped in groin region by see-saw swing nearby!! Love Flinders....could be a return trip to put some geocaches down. Took Geocoin- left a few dollars as didn't have our gear with us. TFTC
As suggested by someone else in the log, it might be a good idea for a cache at the 40th parallel
We welcome any other caches to be placed on the island.
Then our cache won't seem so lonely.
Then our cache won't seem so lonely.
I have a photo of myself and the GPS at that 40 parallel sign, maybe a cache at trouser point as well. You could find at least 30-50 locations around the Island that would be worth visiting for a cache find. With That many I might be tempted to fly back over for a cache run.
Found this on a trip to PI with mates. Had to re-hide in a hurry as the neighbourhood dog was furious with me for being close to his fence.
Thanks for putting this cache out there.

I actually placed a cache here in 2007 whilst on a fishing charter in Bass Strait. It is located on the right fence post
of the entry to the airfield. I never published it as I had planned to go there and put out 25 caches around the island.
I will say the island has the biggest Tiger snakes I have ever seen, I call them 8 foot speed humps.
Love the island I may post a few pics on this cache.

We had a lovely 4 days on this island, stayed at Trousers Point and travelled all over. Magnificent coastal scenery!! This was the only cache - and amazingly, after remaining unfound since set up 18 months ago, had a 'rush' of 3 finders this month. Left both my Wagga Wagga Mega Event tags.
Thanks for the hunt, The Riddeller.
Thanks for the hunt, The Riddeller.
Been watching this cache since it was published as I travel to Flinders occasionally. I was sure I was going to get the ftf when I checked it last month. I couldn't believe it when I found an entry in the log! After 1.5 years I was beat by 13 days!
My first first to find on the first geocache on Flinders Island on my first visit to the Island on the first of April. Phew!
(Can't beat geocaching at work - I flew some boat engineers in who are now trying to fix the "Statesman", while I'm hiking around the island!)

Looks like I'll have to break out the tinnie again....I was looking for another trip across....great spot. Cheers
I have been here once before while on a work trip. Fantastic Place. My uncle lives on the island and used to work at Lady Barron, tempted to expand the team colours but I guess we will just leave it until we can get over there - one day!
