Sorry folks, the Laughing Place is now a Biosolid Disposal Area and out of bounds. 'Ole Brer Rabbit will be back in a new location.
Straight forward find with the help of the hint. Have never ventured here before. TFTC>
Found the container completely exposed with lid not fasten tight. No wonder contents were all wet. Dried out container and and what contents that could be salvaged and replaced log book. Rehid!!!! Let's hope!!!!
My first visit to Rabbit Island and first find on a quick afternoon wander around here. Managed to track down the cache without too much trouble, TFTC.
We were on a 2 day caching raid in the Nelson area and this was our 1st visit to Rabbit Island. Once at GZ the clue helped us to make a quick find. TFTC
Quick walk after the geoevent

Kids enjoyed getting here and was a first find for one new caching cousin. TFTC
Didn't add to toolbox unfortunately as had no appropriate swaps on holiday. But good find.
#1710 (8/30 on day 5 in Nelson). Overshot on the way in, so decided to get it on the way back. Enjoyed the walk around the inlet. TFTC.
Fun cache, took a while to find, had a lot of fun with this one

This one has been on our " to do " list for awhile !!! enjoyed the wander to it from the other side after doing other caches then a long trek back to the car - was worth it - enjoyed Brer Rabbits laughing place took nothing discovered a TB and left a key ( one of those things you always need and can never find!!!) thanks for the cache
Made a nice round trip with some other caches in the area and revisited this one with some time to do the cache!! Last visit was without paper work or time as we were running late for an appointment! A great walk about this area thanks a lot for putting out this cache, is always a pleasure wandering around the island .
The last successful find out this way for this trip, just as the drizzle started. A couple of cyclists riding in the mud back to the road but no one else in sight. A nice big cache for a few more TB's that I've had for too long. Thanks.
I was a little perplexed when I saw the sign on the road gate. That sign had obviously been there for a while judging from the rusty wire which attached it to the gate! Time to drag out the PDA and see what gives. Oh, we are allowed to enter the area, but not by vehicle. The good stocked cache was soon found. TNLN T4TC.
Easy find with Wilson#41.
We had fun on the way back watching the hundreds of crabs on the mud flats digging their holes and having aggressive stand offs with each other.
And then we watched several fish feeding in a pipe outlet.
Wonderful sunny day out.

Easy find with kwaka40.
The nearby sand crabs are so cool. And some are so tiny.
Plenty of entertainment after finding the cache.

Looks like I've just come out of retirement - this was my first cache in about six months. Quick and easy - just like they used to be.
Big midday tide today but enough dry land to enjoy the walk to cache site and back. And enjoyed the story as well. TFTC
Easy find after short walk along the scenic estuary. Left a TB from the USA. Enjoying our stay in New Zealand. Thanks

We left Grandad and Bubble in the car while we did this one.
The tide was half-way in so no problem, and an easy find.
It's a very good sized cache!
- yellow practice golf ball
+ big box key

Jumped the fence and headed off - lovely little area. I love rabbit island.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Thanks for sharing this lovely spot with us on our weekend away with our "gnome away from home" weekend. Sorry having arrived by airline that doesn't allow for heavy baggage couldn't bring any tools for swap however left shooting star from our Rocket. Excellent spot TFTH.
Found it, not exactly where I expected, but tucked it back out of sight. Took Australia Geocoin.
Lovely walk, did this before having a family BBQ. Left Australian Geocoin all the way from the UK. TFTC
A lovely walk but did get a bit muddy. Should have gone in a straight line as our GPS told us to do!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Alien Kiwis.
Thanks Alien Kiwis.
A lovely spot to sit and enjoy a few winter's afternoon rays of sun. Very peaceful and relaxing here. A good hint too! TFTC TNLN
nice one, noted the seat nearby.Meant to take some nails, but forgot!! poor handy man skills!
no sign of brer rabbit as tide was coming in and wayh past morning light. I loved the tar baby story, I guess that proves I'm not in my teens! Nice walk, great day. TY. + kiwi TB.
Well we just "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah" down the track and found this brilliant tool box cache. We thought we saw Brer Rabbit leading us to the big X. TFTC

My brothers had these books so I have read them a fair while ago. This place certainly has the elements of the laughing place. Quite magical here today with the shags and a fish leaping in and out of the water. TFTC (385)
2428. It was a quick walk managing to keep dry even though it was high tide.
We took the TB with us.
Thanks

Nice evening walk. Good spot. Watched the fish jumping in the inlet after doing the cache. + allen key, bolt & grommet. TN. TFTC
I found a lot of caches with my Dad - Biggles - and never logged these online. Now I've got my own account, its time to set things straight. Thanks for all the fun, Flying Phoenix.
Very nice spot on a bright sunny afternoon. No Brer Rabbits or Brer Muggles today. Took big bolt, Left Cisco tool, TFTC, Biggles and Lil' Stu.
A nice quick walk and back from the road. Nearly scared a nearby shag away, but managed to convince it that I wasn't a threat and it hung around on the waters edge. Cheers Gav [3358]
Nice easy find. We walked around from 'Rough Justice'. Left some more stuff for the toolbox! Many thanks.
On a nice warm day we decided to cycle around Rabbit Island and that is when the fun began. We approached GZ from the western end, along what was almost a track. Unkown to us there is still plenty of mud along the "track" and it didn't take long to get our bikes and shoes completely covered in mud. Considering the mud and hard going there was a lot of laughing going on, so all was good in the end.
Thanks for the fun, exercise and cache.
Cheers.

Another glorious evening for geocaching. Unfortunately I didn't read the description until we were on our way, otherwise my garage would now be significantly less cluttered. I will remember!

A quick stroll to the cache under the watchful eye of some waterski-ing muggles - GZ was sheltered enough for no problems, quick find. Came to the conclusion geocaching is probably a lot better for my back than waterskiing and carried on TFTC
Took the dogs along for company.
Left you a tool for wwhich I have no further use.

Quick find today while out at the beach for a family BBQ.Great spot for a cache and with 5 kids in tow there was no way we were going to see brer rabbit.TFTC TNLNSL
We got to this one just before they closed the gates. Some fish were jumping nearby with the joy of living, and why not, a great evening to be out and about.Didnt bring our toolkit with us so didnt swap anything. Nice cache.
Nice one Jerry great to see a real nice big cache in such a great area just love all the wild life, no trades I had one of thouse day and left all my TB's and Geo Coins swaps at home still its nice to get out to celebrate the first day of summer
Ignored the "No Entry" sign with some trepidation (I see the info on the page now), but assured my myself by walking around the fence rather than climbing over it! Lovely walk to the cache and nice find. Thanks.
Visited here with ADV yesterday, and Jr B brought me back again today. + Velcro dots and Flying kids toy. Jr B took a lot of time to take pictures. If I have some time later I might put one up. So very peaceful there this late afternoon. Sat on the benches for a good 15 minutes just watching the birds: Fantail, Kingfisher, Heron, Seagull, Shag and some kind of white-with-a-dash-of-black-on-bill-and-forehead coastal bird that dives for fish from a nice height. My pocket guide is in storage so can't look that one up! TFTC usakiwi and . Lovely spot to grab a picnic indeed. (Note to Bryn: ADV and I saw Brer Rabbit yesterday on Rough Island and I told him he was on the wrong island! Didn't spot him or any others today - just lots of birds!)
Well yes I do remember these stories, didn't realise Disney had picked them up. Nice easy walk at low tide with Mr Beltfamily as we visited a few caches out this way. No trades though I sure have a garage full of "that might be useful one day" type of items in it back home.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Quick find and the first for the afternoon. Pleased you went for the Laughing Place and not the Briar Patch!!! Left a small screwdriver. Took nothing.TFTC
An early morning FTF by Mr KE followed by a lovely stroll along the beach, a great way to start the day. I can remember my Dad reading these classic stories when were camping, complete with plenty of accent, the neighboring tents children (and parents!) loved hearing them and looked forward to story time each evening. There would be the occasional call of "louder please we can't hear" from next door. In keeping with the cache theme dropped in some electrical tape but took nothing. TFTC.
We were the second to find this cache not bad for an out of Towner, knew we weren’t the first as we followed the footprints along the coastline but still was worth it, TFTC TNLNSL (387)
