Trapsing through the grasses we hear what sounds like gun shots nearby...so we didn't stay for long, gun shots or nail guns? Wasn't going to wait to find out... we spotted the cache but too weathered to sign, and on the way out I rescued a baby turtle and placed him back bear a small pond.
Had just given up and started the walk out when I spotted one last hidey hole I wanted to look in. Aha! There it was, full of water so couldn't sign but found none the less
This cache came up for a jasmer spot o havent got yet, and was quite happy that it is currently being owned by my good friend Dromaniax. I was worried about the unloved on the cache but got it after bushbashing my way there. The cache is a bit broken but got pen to the wet paper and away I wentThank you for the cache!
I placed this guy way back on the 20th Novembr 2008 but as we all know that time changes and it has got to the stage that I have to either adopt my caches out or archive as I have a health problem that is only going to get worse.
Finally, I must thank my good friends Drominiax for lookng after this guy as it has got to the stage when I must pass it on and wish it good luck for the future. I know it is in good hands. Thanks my friend. Reading some of the recent logs it may have a water problem.
After spending the afternoon watching the Grand final of the footy and a great win.

buhfuhguh and I went around the bay again today, this time over to St. Leonards where an event and CITO were scheduled to occur around the middle of the day.
A few particular caches were targeted on the way there and back with plenty of fun had in between!
With a breakthrough in a massive research-based puzzle having occurred at the first event, I was frantically Googling my way towards the finish line before the CITO.
In the meantime, buhfuhguh spotted a few caches towards the south that we decided to pick up whilst I researched like a madman.
Grabbing the second in this series, and we followed the small tracks that led to gz.
A bit of typical scrambling around the bushes there ensued before finally buhfuhguh had the goods in hand.
As other cachers have mentioned, things are getting a bit wet here, but we signed the log as best we could.
Thanks to Bushfire for placing this cache and Dromaniax for adopting it!

Day plan: drag brain out west for his 3rd cito so I can get my 20th and finally tick off a certain countdown cache challenge on my side of the bay. What are the bonus's collecting some D5's and other odds and ends we get throughout the day, who could really complain.

On my way to this afternoon's CITO, but there's a bit of work to do before then.
There's a nice loop of caches here on the south side of town, and I should be able to get enough smileys, but it'll be close...
Off into the scrub we go...
An easy track to within striking distance of the cache, then a beeline to the coordinates. Finding the container after picking the correct entry point was easy, as it was exactly as advertised.
Always a pleasure to log one of the red ant's hides. Cheers, Bushfire, and Dromaniax.
**Cache missing a clip and fills up with water.**
And of course I found the easier way out, though the way in was far more scenic.
---
I think we're all well aware how the past couple of years have impacted many facets of our lives.
From a Geocaching perspective, it's been a bit tricky estimating when milestones would be reached, and, for me, how to mark the occasion.
For variety's sake, I wanted a different cache type this time around. There's a specific Wherigo that would have fit the bill, but cancellation of not one, but two birthday holidays with the family meant the last waypoint of that still lies just out of reach. Next one, eh.
So maybe something social?
This year's Mega would have worked, but car trouble slowed the numbers down, so I was well short of the mark. Sigh. The next one? The milestone would be well past.
The final of a series ten years in the completion? Sure, a worthy contender, but more suited to the next milestone. And not a new type.
That last Webcam? Hmmmm... it's not **that** significant a milestone.
Then last week a mate and I were discussing our plans for the weekend, and a thought popped into my head. I wonder... a CITO?

The weather today was nice and cool and conducive to getting out and about, and the geodogs were keen for some exercise, so we ventured out to pick up some caches. We have walked out to Edwards Point quite a few times but didn't realise that this part of the wildlife reserve existed. We had found The Real Charlie's Hole so we went to find this one, is it the Fake Charlies Hole? We had to brave a wide expanse of Bathurst Burr to get to this cache, but once there it was easy to find. The small geodogs are being deburred this evening as they look like they are burr magnets. The cache was sopping wet. We have stamped the original log and also placed a replacement log (in a ziplock bag) in the cache. Thank you Bushfire for this cache.
I have a free day to go out caching so today I have started out with this power trail and then fill in the rest of the day with a hike and some water caches. Went around in circles for a bit before finding the cache, when I got back to the path my sock and shoes were covered in spiky grasses spent the next 10 mins picking it all out. Not Fun. TFTC
I had a go at this one on a beautiful Christmas Day stroll with my trusty canine companion. Alas the long grass and need to march through it for a good 30 metres deterred me. Don’t have the right footwear on and too much of a risk of ol Reggie getting nipped by a snake. Still, greatly enjoyed my walk out here today. TFTC
A very pleasant walk in, we heard birds but that is all we saw. We did hear little noises in the bush but we did not see the owners of these. Near GZ we encountered the sticky plants that have featured in the gallery, but that photo does not give justice to the ones that attacked us.
The cache is in good condition. SL TFTC

The kids have been playing on devices all morning so we dragged them out for a walk. We enjoyed the lookout for a minute before heading in for a look. I fought my way into the cache before finding the easy path out.
Thanks Bushfire for the cache.

After completing a pleasant walk to Edward's Point Neville_devil and I thought Charlie's Hole and Charlie's real hole needed to be changed into smileys on our map
A nice easy find at this compared with Charlie's real hole. The GPS lead us right to the right area and bingo there it was.
Thank you Bushfore for your hard work deploying so many caches for us all to enjoy

Dad and boy have been evicted from home for a few days. So while we are stuck at St Leonards for a few days we will find a few caches.
The two in this park fill some missing months in our Ausmer challenge where you need to find a cache placed in every month since 2001. So with loins girded and a snake-protecting stick to beat the grass in front of us we ventured off-track and made a quick find.
We dropped a pen somewhere on our journey, ahh well consider it a donation to the next cacher through. TFTC

Found this afternoon with muggle hubby. I was looking in the wrong durection, hubby was saying you are not walking down there or over there snakes are out and about now!! But then we found somewhere else to walk hubby considered safe and would you believe it there was the cache!! Thank goodness for the find or hubby would have been taking home one grumpy cacher!! Many thanks for the cache Bushfire uou brought us to a new place in our home area.
With the sun shining I set off for the north eastern parts of the Bellarine Peninsula. It's been more than three years since I cached between St Leonards and Portarlington, so I had quite some catching up to do. Starting off early in the morning walking around Edwards Point Reserve with gloriously bright blue skies I continued into the afternoon, by which time the skies had darkened and brought with them cold downpours. I kept caching in the hard rain thinking the adverse weather conditions keeping muggles away would mean easier caching, but by the 10th DNF of the day (a new record for me [B)]) I headed back home. Despite the miserable afternoon it was still a worthwhile day's outing where I explored some new places .
I had never been into this part of the reserve before. Certainly an unusual and interesting lookout point.
Thanks Bushfire.

Spent the day in the area caching, no work, phone off, emails off, just exploring and hunting for boxes. Hoping for over 100 today. TFTC
My fifth day of my geocaching holiday. Some of my chosen caching grounds ended up a bust, but I found other places to hunt.
I needed a break from the cache power trails so took a short walk down the trail to find a couple of bushy caches. I am not used to those grass burrs though as I haven't seen them around Sydney.
Thanks for the cache.

It's been a while since GeoMum and I have been out geocaching together. This little spot has been on our list to explore - but not during snake season. The depths of winter seemed pretty safe and proved to be. It was also good timing as far as the ground cover went - it is one of my least favourite plants after spending my teenage years combing the burrs out of my border collie's coat - as there were not as many burrs as we would normally see.
So cache found (all in good condition), with no snakes and zero burrs. And a nice view over the lake with lots of birds to spot!

She who must be obeyed wanted the children out of the house. She also complains about geocaching but not today as the kids went out for a long walk out to Laurie's lookout and gave her some peace and quiet. A quick find and log signed and headed back. Watch out for those stupid weeds as they stuck all over mine and the kids clothes. Thanks for giving me some great walks Laurie
Things must have changed here. I parked without any worries and walked into the hole just following the track. Met a lady walking her cute puppy and that was all. Soon found the cache and then decided I would tackle the 'real' Charlie's Hole on the way back out.

After spending some time overlooking the bay at Lachies Lookout, we made the short trek to GZ. A lovely surprise awaited is- a TB to take on an adventure!

This was an ideal day for a walk through the reserve here. It was a spot that you could easily have driven past and not realised it was here. abl973 went one direction I went the other, and we soon were right on top of it.
Thanks to Bushfire for placing this cache and bringing me to this location.

[Green]The weather forecast said it would be a nice day so here I am finding caches. Today's mission was to head towards Queenscliff and the surrounding area to do a bit of exploring and to find some caches. This cache was found in good condition and with good co-ords.
I enjoyed wandering about this park.
Thanks Bushfire for helping to make this an awesome day and you were right about the aerogard!

thought id come and scoop these caches up today. hard part was finding the way to this location as it looked like i had to walk off the path but it was only the last 30mtrs. thanks bushfire!
Cutting it a bit late to head into this reserve after tackling the newly published series into St Leonrds but a couple of Bushfire caches seemed worth the effort. A nice stroll into GZ and after a bit of poking around finally spotted the cache tucked away in it's hiding spot. Took the time after replacing the cache to take in the beautiful views of Swan Bay from the opposite side that I'm used to. Thanks for the cache Bushfire.
I was a bit apprehensive about the parking for this one. Reading a few logs, there seemed to be a multitude of ways to the cache. Headed down the coast this morning to finally claim these caches. When I was very close to GZ I spotted a sign ( see pic) just off the road. I think I'll go this way !! A very pleasant walk with defined paths all the way to the cache. Do we know who Charlie is ??? TFTC Bushfire.
I had not been here before. It was a great day which made the walk very pleasant. Thanks for placing this cache here.
A little cloudy today which makes for a lovely walking. Lachies lookout at Charlies hole, were they friends?
I was no better prepared to tackle this cache than the real one. Fortunately not such wild vegetation to accost me in getting to this one. I did discover later in the day that long pants would have prevented some bloodied looking scratches that have adorned my skin. Skin mends thankfully TFTC Bushfire
In the area today so decided to check this guy out and the only thing that I had to do was to place a new log book in the cache and rehide so all is well for some time I hope.
Continued on and made this my final smiley conversion for the day. Back starting to get sore again and got the dreaded "how far away are you?" Phone call.
Followed the geo trail in and thanked Charlie and his view in the way out.
Thanks Bushfire for the cache

Felt the urge to cache but the sun had set and the moon hadn't risen and these were the only two close by, what the hell grabbed my trusty torch and set off not knowing if the terrain would be wet.
Surprisingly it was an easy walk to GZ with a path all the way. At GZ the cache was in the open upside down it looked like the cache had been disturbed but not muggled. Contents were dry.
Signed and replaced to where it looked like it had come from.

Interesting place , I'll have to come back on a calm day at high tide and have a look. Found quickly (no camo), the contents were very damp but no water sitting in the cache (tidied it up a little) signed the damp log and replaced the cache under some camo. TN Left a well done badge Tftc

Today I set myself a mission to find 35 traditional caches. Must say I have caching goggles on and not doing very well at all. The way things are going I'll be lucky to get 15. Plenty of stomping on my way to GZ. I searched around and pokes and found nothing. Didn't want to go in there but after 15 minutes when I did the cache was in plain view. Quickly signed log and ran out of there in record time. TFTC Bushfire

A nice walk in with the geo-wife with some apprehension about the slithery type creatures that may abound. Luckily all good but when venturing off track plenty of noise was made as a precaution. An easy find in the end with accurate co-ords. Thanks to the legendary Bushfire for the hunt.
Found on a beautiful Sunny day on our way to 1000 caches, TODAY IS THE DAY.
Got as bit cheeky here as the phone had us able to drive to within 40 metres of the cache.
Made for a easy find, although the grass was very long and didn't want to think about meeting one of our slithery friends along the way. Found the cache, signed the log and retrurn to the car.

In town hunting sailing ships without success so decided to hunt caches instead. Eventually found the right place to park and the right track but ended up taking a more off road approach than was probably necessary . Managed not to see any snakes, mozzies or muggles and didn't take long to find the cache either. Signed the log and then headed off to find the nearby relative of this cache!
First visit to this area but will definitely be back!
Thanks Bushfire!

I have found this cache. It could have been months ago now and I probably had a cool story to go with it at the time but instead I saved it in my found list and now I forget everything. No more of that from now on. Thanks anyway! =]
After finding the cache at the 'real' charlies hole, we walked a few hundred metres along the trail to visit its nearby relative. I circled GZ and eventually spotted the well-hidden cache when I was at the right angle. I retrieved the container and signed the log at 1:00 pm. I took a marble and left a snake and then returned the cache to its hiding spot.
Thanks Bushfire for the cache and for bringing us to such a great spot that we would never come to if it wasn't for geocaching. We stayed for a while and enjoyed the picturesque scenery (see photo).

A nice walk this morning with no other people or slithery things around. Co-ords were good and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC
Really enjoyed the walk to this cache, funny there's a seat at the end! Thanks
Found at 8:18 AM GAFF1. We headed off earlyish this morning to avoid the expected heat and also took the bikes as we were not keen on a 6 -7 km walk to do all of the caches in this peninsula. Peter from Phetlern joined me which was very nice of him and good company - although he did set a stiff pace while I was still recovering from extreme cramps from a week or so earlier [xx(]
The reserve was a lovely golden brown and the paths were meandering around, but took us straight to the cache.
Thanks Bushfire

After visiting the 'real' charlies hole we walked another 200 metres to visit what we assume is not really charlies hole. It looks like someone has cut a track or maybe the kangaroos had a nibble - lots of burrs today ... and they're ripe.
Found by The Empire @ 3pm
Find number 18 of 24 today. A great little walk down to a spot I never knew was here. In true Bushfire fashion the cache was found after a thorough leg scratching and burr collecting. I didn't attempt The Real Charlie's hole as the track (of about 180m) looked far to overgrown and these shorts weren't made for walking around snakes! It'll have to wait until the winter. Thanks for the cache, Bushfire, I shall return!

Out caching today with caching mate ahomburg with today's region being the Bellarine Peninsula. Never been to this part before only QueensCliff so it was nice to explore the surrounding region.
Having found the other near by this was the next cache found in this nice little flora reserve. Plenty of birds seen at the lake too. A nice classic hide, thanks for bringing me here. TFTC Bushfire, left blue gem stone. Another of yours found today.

Well, it's the weekend again and today is going to be an absolutely glorious day. A perfect day for a caching run on the Bellarine Peninsula with my caching mate, SedgwickDave.
After finishing the walk along the Edwards Point Faunal Reserve, we headed back towards town, parking in a nearby side street to find two more nearby caches. This was a pleasant walk through some wetlands to GZ and a nice easy find.
Thanks to Bushfire for the cache. TNLN.

Nice to see a path off the main path is slashed to GZ,
are you responsible for that too Bushfire????
Thanks for showing us this spot, and the exercise before the long drive home.

Found with bogonghazy on a days cache run on the Peninsula. This one came to light after a short search once the GPSr had settled, and bogonghazy made the find. Thanks to Bushfire for this one, and for highlighting Charlies Hole.
A beautiful day to be out caching in this scenic area. This was one of the caches we targetted today and found. Thanks Bushfire, we enjoyed the exercise and the cache.
Another enjoyable walk Bushfire. Wind is keeping the flies away but there is a cloud of mozzies at the cache.
Did a late afternoon blitz on Edwards Point
Had to sign and run here - had no insect repellent and was swarmed by mozzies as I signed.

Quasar3671 and myself had a plan to grab some caches in Inverloch area. However plans changed as they do and we ended up on the other side of the bay for a late night run. I wish Charlie would make his mind up. Also smells a but funny around here. TFTC
Headed out tonight with C@H. Originally I'd planned to head to Inverloch but C@H changed my mind by tempting me with the option of us being able to pick up some more difficult caches on the other side of the bay in Geelong.
It worked.
We parked in the adjacent newish estate and followed the track where we stopped and found the sister cache first. We then got back on track and before long where standing near GZ. I headed in and found the cache. A nice quite location. Thanks for the hide.
