Cache definitely not on the gun when we checked on the 18th. Its about time this one is archived or replaced.
Looked for ages then read notes and seen that it has not been found for a wee while! shame
Searched the holes, but alas, no find. As dusk was approaching (along with a few muggles) we headed on our way.
DNF: Was across the road filling up the car and noticed that there was a cache across the road, decided to go and have a look for it, noticing that there had being a couple of DNF's before us we decided to still give it a quick look, no luck here today, what a pity as it was a nice spot for a cache.
Could not find it even with the hint. The gun appears to have just been painted. I wonder if it is still there.
Easy find with clue as despite rain there were muggles about. Would have liked more info about gun TFTC
Riding the Otago rail trail and grabbed some caches before having lunch, quick find TFTC
Had trouble finding it as someone was holding it. They came and asked us if we were looking for it. They knew about geocaching having found a cache before but don't think they have ever logged on line. I can remember this gun from visiting Ranfurly as a child. Boys enjoyed playing on it. Cache was bigger than expected so not very easy to hide.
A nice quick dash and grab as we stopped in Ranfurly for a bit for dinner. Cheers Gav [7207]
5835 Grandad Georgie sure has a big gun... easy find compared to some others we have seen in the past, TFTC.
After a bit of a search (using playing kids as a cover!) we found this small cache on a big gun! TFTC...
Took me a couple of goes to locate the cache but got there in the end. A wonderful gun. TFTC
We’d had our fair share of gun hunts just like this in quite a few places in Australia and NZ. So many places to hide and the guns all looking quite similar from a distance but really not quite the same. Always a fun and challenging hide. This one is no different, except that we enjoyed it more because of the good clue and the fact that there were no muggles about. Nice one. Thanks Bitsprayer.
Unfortunately didn't have a pencil with us to write in the book! No problems with people, as the heavy rain kept everyone away!!
"Where is the gun?" - we must have lost our GC vision glasses by this time as it was right there to our left when we put them on again in our momentary lapse of brain to eye communication.
Found the original one but thought I may be able to claim this one as well since it has been shifted
Ohhhhhh we thought we were first to find as the first in the log book. No problem with muggles as there a big conflict happening in the street that took everyone's attention with some parents and children. One of them apparently a rat bag. One of the angry mothers said "Welcome to Ranfurly" as she ran past us. Nice easy find
Found the gun and located the hint but could not find the cache. Looked for some time but had to get going.
The clue is pretty specific and I had a good look but no luck locating cache. Maybe it has been muggled as I expect this is a popular play object for little muggles from time to time.
This should have been a quick find, but no luck. I doubt very much that it's still there. I have found nanos on guns before so a 250mL container should have proven no obstacle.
Could the owner please check...
Could the owner please check...
Found the hint ok but no sign of teh cache. Maybe our hands were too small, maybe its gone.
Oops. I found this cache when out caching with Sidewaze but somehow missed logging it. Apologies for being a little late . TFTC .
Took a girlfriend from Ranfurly and in total 5 kids to do the 3 geocaches here. She finally found it and said that she has often seen people hanging out here and now she knows why. Kids loved it. Tftc.
Visited Central Otago to take part in NZ Orienteering Champs, ride the Rail Trail and enjoy this beautiful area including many sites around Queenstown. We (Roel, Di and Melanie) enjoyed the trip with beautiful weather (some morning frosts!) This was our seventeenth cache on the trail. 2ndeyes did it again. Thanks a lot.
Great container. Tripped over the chain though getting to the gun - clumsy!! I've now got a hell of a sore wrist and it's in a cast!! TFTC

Quick find, while having lunch. Had a not so nice, cold coffee from across the road. TFTC #135
Nice Hide had to really watch for muggles, but most people looking at the burnt-out garage premises.

The day of the Ranfurly Fire, far to many muggles around to get this one today, will come back another day
Finding caches on these things has always been a challenge. Did this at 10:30pm with torch light. TFTC
My husband is always asking for a new gun - perhaps I should give him one of these for his collection?!

bum looking for a clue while worker wanders back with cache in hand.....sunny at last!
Very impressive. Pleased at the quick find, there's only so much interest you can show before becoming a little suspicious looking.

On our central journey, popped into Ranfurly for a quick cache or 3.
Possibly dropped an NiMH AA somewhere???

A quick find - we were staying in Ranfurly overnight while on the Rail Trail so went for a walk to find the caches here. Signed log, TFTC!

Could not find it after about ten minutes search despite the clue. Then a woman from the nearby shop ran out and showed where she had moved it to after her son had muggled it. Hopefully back to original. TFTh. TNLN
Cache two on our raid on Ranfurly! End of day two on the trail. Picked up the coin. TFTC
nice cool place never would have guessed there being one so close to our holiday house
Riding the rail trail with a few work mates and graded this cache while waiting for lunch to arrive at our table, great day had lunch sitting out side. Like the story, would not surprise me if it was true.
Thanks.
Thanks.
We have done a lot of Bitsprayers caches so it was great to find another for our 300th cache. TNLN - TFTC Bitsprayer.
Found by Henry motoring around after rail trail. No ice skating though - too warm
I need to do some more research about this gun. What was George's last name. I am sure I have read about this before, but where. Anyway we found the cache after a little bit of searching.

Hope the dentists next door weren't watching our antics!!! Needed the clue as GPS got us no closer than 4 ms all around.
Too tricky for us, we didnt have any paperwork to check on this one, maybe next time
It would make a great duck gun though....
