Even though this one had been dnfd numerous times and had only been archived a couple of years ago I still decided to put it on my list and call in have a looksee. AlmaWoody got stuck into the aggies right away with her gloves on while I hung back and pretended to look with a feel here and there whenever she looked in my direction. Im mean we all hate aggies right!?! I then quickly gave up my half arsed attempt and read some old logs. I read out what tramyard logged and AlmaWoody found the cache precisely where hed written itd be! Cache is in great condition and we have replaced it back where it was. Streak day #143 and ANOTHER trad dot day ticked off. I have put all these old archived caches in a list and am going to make it my mission to check them all out over this summer. I will add notes to the ones we cant find as a future reference to other keen hunters so they can pass them by.

Did some homework on the way to this cache today so was good to knock that off. Another triumphant find by NanNan.

31-Oct-23
Yahoo another win for me! Pleased to see it still survives. I could see how it could be a hard find for the previous people though. Its definitely there.

08-Dec-21
I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.

07-Nov-21
Hi Manaia

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Regards

A nice quick find thanks. Can I just say that I hate aggies! I think searching closer to the road may be more fruitful!

Ms_KR and I are on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland for our family Christmas. Today is Stratford to Whanganui. Please excuse the generic logs, there have been a few finds and they get muddled up sometimes.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

#12,632. Park, walk and grab on Eltham Road in Te Kiri. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a bit of a search. In the end, had to disregard the additional hints a little. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

Ethness made short work of this one. I am on a North Island Figure of Eight tour. For the first 4 days I spend time in the Bay of Plenty with my husband JDScout in Rotorua. Now I am on part two of the eight loop near the end of our looo, staying in New Plymouth. This part is being done with my good friends Ethness and Jude_E.
Thanks Manaia for creating this hide. It was find 9069 for me.

Ethness, Nosynel and I are on a caching adventure. Our goal is to find all the TMGT caches in a big figure 8 across the centre of the North Island. We are travelling around the mountain today. About 42 years ago I lived up the road in Opunake. Quite nostalgic coming here. Tftc.

A quick find despite not liking to hunt in agapanthus.

Jude_E, NosyNel and I are continuing on our figure of 8 tour of the North Island collecting the ‘Tour’ caches, plus others, plus seeing the scenery, plus having a good old time. TFTC.

19-Dec-19
On our way back from Okato so nabbed this one on our way past. Cheers

Day 6- Thursday 19 December. Hawera to Okato and back the inland route. Then back to pick up Zara and head to New Plymouth.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

19-Dec-19
WOOHOO!!!! The summit of Taranaki is visible at last!!!! Yes! This warrants way too many exclamation marks!!!

We got into Hawera 4 days ago (as my standard para below says, this is a s-l-o-w trip!) and this is the first time we have seen the summit. There was two days of rain and lots of cloud - most of the time even the foothills were not visible. And... we only got to see it for half an hour. Oh well.

Oh - yes - this cache. Sorry. Easy find. Okay, maybe not, but I have not comments in my notebook about it being a difficult. Thanks, Manaia, for a view of the mountain at last. None of the other COs were so accommodating.

Day six of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is Manaia to the cape lighthouse along the coast and back to Hawera via the inland route - it's a slow trip!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates Sad
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* 3 notebooks full of cache notes for later logging
* Lots of cache maintenance!

***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:

* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!

Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Did a bit of rummaging, but no luck
Nice rock and love the story

03-Nov-19
Easy find on way to Opunaki

07-Mar-19
I had an empty calendar day that needed remedying so I took the long way home from work to get a cache. Rummaging in the aggies didn't enthuse me much but not much rummaging was required. It's a pretty cool rock. Thanks.

09-Jan-19
I took the family on a road trip during our stay in New Plymouth. We visited Mt Taranaki completing part of the goblin forest walk, visited Dawson Falls had a swim in a Opunake and had fish n chips in Oakura. On our journey I was able to pick up a few caches of which this was one. Thanks to all the CO for placing and maintaining these geocaches.

Not as much rummaging needed as first thought. Nice replacement log Smile

15-Dec-18
In the company of Cats&Dragons for a quick 24 hour blast around Mt Taranaki, with the aim to tidy up as much of the area as possible. Leaving 7pm Friday night and returning 7pm Saturday we managed the loop and found about 70 caches along the way, with a couple of hours sleep thrown in as well. The weather also played its part with fantastic vistas throughout the day of the mountain.

With some well hidden and maintain caches found throughout the day a big thanks must go to all the CO's for the placements.Having cleared out most of Strafford it was time to head further a field and head around the mountain. A successful find, thanks ofr the placement.

Searched for ages, The hint needs to be more user friendly!!! This is a high muggle area and you need to be quick in and sign and out. Very hard to do this when you are struggling to find the cache.

From the overnight stay on the parking near Dawsons Falls we went for a visit to Opukane and on the way with went for some caches.
This one we didn't find, after earching quite a while between the African Lilies, as we know them.
But we had good free wifi here so we decided to log all our caches uptill now.

Out and about on a great mid winter morning, not a breath of wind and the sun is shining, so lets go geocaching. Parked up handy to GZ and had a look around in the depths of the agapanthas and soon found the cache. Signed the log and returned as found. A nice war memorial across the road too.

Thanks for the placement Manaia.

Nice quick find on our drive around the mountain.

28-May-16
Took a bit lol

21-May-16
**The purpose of my visit today was to "bring Kiribug TB home".** "Kiribug would love to get to New Zealand. ... Geocashe Te Kiri Teaser (Taranaki) is there and that is the goal. "
**So after more than 122,000 km, TB4XM32 has achieved its goal.**
Unfortunately the cache container was too small to fit Kiribug, so I bagged both the cache and the TB together and put back.
Also unfortunately I'm unable to contact the cache owner 'Manaia' as he's? been a 'Locked Member' since 2014 and *hasn't played the game since 2012.*

05-Sep-15
After a DNF last time I tried this one and seeing the last entry as a DNF I wasn't going to stop for this one but it got the better of me as I was passing anyway. After a general look I cracked the gps out and let it lead me, after some climbing under and over things I spotted an unusual colour to be in amongst the green and brown. A find! Original log is unreadable (looks to be mouldy and stuck) so I replaced with a sheet of notebook paper in a ziplock. Beware the next finder there were lots of little centipedes in the container, they may have grown by the time you find this. Replaced snugly in hidey hole. TFTC

22-Aug-15
The area appears to have been cleaned up recently
