Trapsing through the grasses we hear what sounds like gun shots nearby...so we didn't stay for long, gun shots or nail guns? Wasn't going to wait to find out... we spotted the cache and on the way out I rescued a baby turtle and placed him back bear a small pond.
On our way to see the inlaws in St Leonards and thought we would find some caches in the way. TFTC
Got lucky again! Grabbed another one here that was unloved, which was in bit better condition due to being higher up, and I am glad I got them off my list!Thank you for the adventure
I placed this guy way back on the 1st December 2008 but as we all know that time changes and it has got to the stage that I have to either adopt my caches out or archive as I have a health problem that is only going to get worse.
Finally, I must thank my good friend Drominiax for lookng after this guy as it has got to the stage that I must pass it on and wish it good luck for the future. I know it is in good hands. Thanks my friend.
After spending Saturday afternoon watching the Grand final of the AFL footy and a great win by the Cats and watching the antics of their mad Monday activities it is time to think again about caching.

buhfuhguh and I went around the bay again today, this time over to St. Leonards where an event and CITO were scheduled to occur around the middle of the day.
A few particular caches were targeted on the way there and back with plenty of fun had in between!
With a breakthrough in a massive research-based puzzle having occurred at the first event, I was frantically Googling my way towards the finish line before the CITO.
In the meantime, buhfuhguh spotted a few caches towards the south that we decided to pick up whilst I researched like a madman.
This reserve out the back of town caught our attention so we wandered in and attempted this one first.
A small diversion from the trail took us to gz and it wasn't long before I made a slight descent and was able to spot the container from there.
Thanks to Bushfire for this hide and Dromaniax for keeping it going!

Day plan: drag brain out west for his 3rd cito so I can get my 20th and finally tick off a certain countdown cache challenge on my side of the bay. What are the bonus's collecting some D5's and other odds and ends we get throughout the day, who could really complain.

On my way to this afternoon's CITO, but there's a bit of work to do before then.
There's a nice loop of caches here on the south side of town, and I should be able to get enough smileys, but it'll be close...
Just enough of a rough trail off the main one to make choosing the route in easy. Over and around for a quicker find than at the "imposter"
Another Bushfire smiley to savour. Cheers, and thanks to Dromaniax for taking the responsibility on.
All in good nick.

I think we're all well aware how the past couple of years have impacted many facets of our lives.
From a Geocaching perspective, it's been a bit tricky estimating when milestones would be reached, and, for me, how to mark the occasion.
For variety's sake, I wanted a different cache type this time around. There's a specific Wherigo that would have fit the bill, but cancellation of not one, but two birthday holidays with the family meant the last waypoint of that still lies just out of reach. Next one, eh.
So maybe something social?
This year's Mega would have worked, but car trouble slowed the numbers down, so I was well short of the mark. Sigh. The next one? The milestone would be well past.
The final of a series ten years in the completion? Sure, a worthy contender, but more suited to the next milestone. And not a new type.
That last Webcam? Hmmmm... it's not **that** significant a milestone.
Then last week a mate and I were discussing our plans for the weekend, and a thought popped into my head. I wonder... a CITO?

Probably not the best time of year to be looking for this one but oh well, you only live once. I did see something slithering but it may have been a lizard. Interesting little hidey hole & I scared a few ducks away. Tftc
What an adventure to find this one!Don’t try this in summer though. Found TB will take on an adventure and leave elsewhere. Thanks
The weather today was nice and cool and conducive to getting out and about, and the geodogs were keen for some exercise, so we ventured out to pick up some caches. We have walked out to Edwards Point quite a few times but didn't realise that this part of the wildlife reserve existed. As previous finders have said, it is a bit of a mission to make your way to GZ. There has clearly been some maintenance conducted quite recently with many broom bushes pruned back to ground level. We were thankful for the cool weather as the likelihood of crossing the path of a snake were greatly reduced. The cache was in excellent condition, and I dropped a TB, as I figured that those finding this cache are likely to know what to do with it and not just pocket it. Thank you, Bushfire, for this cache.
I have a free day to go out caching so today I have started out with this power trail and then fill in the rest of the day with a hike and some water caches. The mosquitos were bad today they nearly picked me up and flew me to the cache found the easier way out after signing the log. TFTC
Favourite point added for the adventure! I don't think I've ever been challenged so much less than 50m from a walking track (in my short caching career). I did it in shorts and came out fine, but boy oh boy, I would not be going near this one in snake weather.
We were very grateful that there was no sign of the sticky plants at this cache but it was not an easy one to get to. All is good with the cache. SL TFTC

On the path I thought this would be an easy find but I didn't realise how far off the main path it was. We eventually found a trail in and made our way to the Real Charlie Has before continuing on to locate the container.
The kids got lost on the way back out but I pointed them to the right trail and we found our way out.
Thanks Bushfire for the cache.

After completing a pleasant walk to Edward's Point Neville_devil and I thought Charlies's Hole and Charle's real hole needed to be changed into smileys on our map
Working our way to GZ wasn't an easy task finding a suitable route was quite challenging. Once there I caught sight of the cache but could actually reach it from my location. Neville_devil on the other hand was on the other side and soon had our prize in hand.

Second find for the morning on our adventure in St Leonards.
We used the snake-deterring stick liberally to beat the ground in front of us; no self-respecting piece of wildlife would hang around to see us stomp by.
Cache was found quickly, via the easy track in and then we returned to the geo-mobile for the quick drive home. Tftc

With the sun shining I set off for the north eastern parts of the Bellarine Peninsula. It's been more than three years since I cached between St Leonards and Portarlington, so I had quite some catching up to do. Starting off early in the morning walking around Edwards Point Reserve with gloriously bright blue skies I continued into the afternoon, by which time the skies had darkened and brought with them cold downpours. I kept caching in the hard rain thinking the adverse weather conditions keeping muggles away would mean easier caching, but by the 10th DNF of the day (a new record for me [B)]) I headed back home. Despite the miserable afternoon it was still a worthwhile day's outing where I explored some new places .
While this cache is rated T2, I probably chose the different access path as it was a T4 for me . Sure glad I was doing this one in winter. I had to laugh at the cache notes - " if something happens to you ... your body may stay hidden for years" . That's for sure - have a look at my log pic.
Thanks Bushfire.

My fifth day of my geocaching holiday. Some of my chosen caching grounds ended up a bust, but I found other places to hunt.
I wasn't sure what to expect after readibg the description, but I had a go anyway. Most of the long grass was thin enough to see any snakes that may be lying about, though I didn't cross paths with any around here.
Thanks for the cache.

GeoMum and I first attempted to get to this one directly from the Charlie's Hole cache. We did not get far before deciding that there must be another (easier, and more sensible and practical!) way. A check of the map indicated that our decision was a wise one and so we backtracked and stuck to man-made proper paths and approached this cache from a far more accessible route. No snakes to be seen.
I did enjoy reading the cache description to Mum when we were looking around after signing the log. My youngest brother is quite concerned about where we end up geocaching so I am going to make sure to send the cache description to him also.

Team lillieb are house sitting in St Leonards and headed out for a quick cache after settling in. This wasn't a quick cache...
We had the compass pointing at a wall of trees which we tried pushing through with the kids, then back out and try again, then a third time and finally our muggle extra called out that he had found it. After getting all the kids up to this one it was good to get another smiley.
The logbook is saturated so I added a new book and started it off with my signature. The old book is still there in a new bag to protect it and the new one is in a separate bag as well.

No problems getting here at all. It was a little overgrown up close to GZ and the log was damp. Sorry I didn't have anything to replace it with this time. Happy to have these two crossed off the list.

Never knew this place existed- and what a pretty little spot it is!
Log is extremely wet and may need replacement or a good session with a hairdryer!!

Great spot. The cache needs maintainence. Was found upside down, with water in it, and the log was wet. Thanks for settling it up, though.
After wandering along the track and exploring another part of the reserve, we followed the little geotrail. What lies at the end of a geotrail, a geocache of course! A nice sized container made for easier spotting of the hide.
Thanks to Bushfire for the cache.

[Green]The weather forecast said it would be a nice day so here I am finding caches. Today's mission was to head towards Queenscliff and the surrounding area to do a bit of exploring and to find some caches. This cache was found in good condition and with good co-ords.
I was hoping it would be a sink hole too.
Thanks Bushfire for helping to make this an awesome day.

was gonna grab this but its a warm day and there aee snakes about ! :/ almost stepped on one
Cutting it a bit late to head into this reserve after tackling the newly published series into St Leonrds but a couple of Bushfire caches seemed worth the effort. After finding the other Charlie's Hole relatively quickly this one took a bit more time and at least 3 attempts that ended in dead ends and having to backtrack before finally picking the right approach. A nice peaceful little spot, not surprisingly, and a good spot for a cache. Luckily missing the insects while I was here today. Thanks for the cache Bushfire
A quick walk from the previous ( fake charlie ?? ) cache and I was soon hunting for this hide. Luckily the cool weather meant no mozzies. No burrs in the socks either, not even a snake to be seen !! This is quite a nice little piece of paradise hidden amongst this area. I wonder just how deep this hole is, I'll leave that for some-one else to find out. TFTC Bushfire.
Charlie must have liked solitude. This hole doesn't get many visitors. Cache was in good condition. Thanks for placing this cache.
Love this spot. We turned into impressionist artists and 'signed' the log with a pen which did not work...you think we should know by now to bring our own. tftc
Did I read the cache notes before I began. NO. Was I wearing boots. No.did I have on long trousers. NO. Did I spray on aero grad. NO. But did the lack of these necessities stop me NO. Did I meet any snakes NO did I need the aerogard. NO. That was lucky did I brave the long grass and the burrs. YES. Did I find the caxhe YES. TFTC Bushfire
We were out for lunch with Linearzz and stopped to look for this one. The ladies declined to brave the long grass and snakes, but the men charged on with great gusto and found the cache. TFTC
Great hide, bush bashing definitely required, watch out for snakes! TFTC
Parked the closest I could off Duke street and made the short stroll over to GZ. Filled the geo-trail and found what I was looking for. So, who is Charlie..? And why is it his hole I wonder...?

Felt the urge to cache but the sun had set and the moon hadn't risen and these were the only two close by, what the hell grabbed my trusty torch and set off not knowing if the terrain would be wet.
Parked up and walked in, surprisingly dry underfoot. Followed a small path through the grass to GZ, had a quick look around and there it was and so were the mozzies. Noticed a TB that had been here for a while so I grabbed it to move it on.

This one started off with a caching trail quick quickly vanished!! Instead of stomping my way in I decided to run and hope any slithery friends weren't fast enought!! Got to the hill, stopped and focused on the cache. Found it, signed the log and I was out of there in a flash. TFTC bushfire

Walking back to the vehicle from Charlie's Hole and diverted to this one. Got more than apprehensive when I saw the off track route required in the very long grass. Made lots of noise inbound and was very surprised to arrive at this fantastic water hole. I surprised a couple of very large birds who flew off as I arrived and then found the cache with accurate co-ords. Then made lots more noise on the way out. By the way, shorts and sandals were worn. Thanks to the legendary Bushfire for this hunt. Well done on this hide.
Found on a beautiful Sunny day on our way to 1000 caches, TODAY IS THE DAY.
Drove along a little way from Charlie's Hole and was able to get close to this one too. GPS jumped around a bit today, but after a quick search managed to find the container. Signed the Log and headed back to the car and on to the next one.

Nice little hide in here- paranoid about snakes however made sure loud footsteps sent the message.
Took a photo here- great place. Ducks fluttered away as we approached. I often wonder how Bushfire comes across these places.

We're here on a week's holiday in Portarlington. Well last night the rain and wind started and it wasnt much better this morning so it wasnt until mid afternoon that we set off to do some caching today having done KI Bug Anniversary cache and picked up a map which gave a better idea for access to these caches. We parked in Dune st and after the HH GPS lead us astray at first we were soon on the right track. As we got closer the cacophony of the frogs became louder and we were soon at the cache. Lovely spot and we preferred it to the other one lol

Headed back to the track after finding the nearby relative of this cache and followed it along until I could hear a cacophony emanating from the bushes which made me think I was close to the mark. [^] Followed the rough trail in and fortunately took the easy approach to the cache and made a quick find. [^] Scratched my name into the log as neither my pen nor that in the cache wanted to work properly then had a quick look around before depleting the mozzie population by 2 and departing.
This spot was quite evocative. My ancestor Daniel Cusack (aka O'Neill) arrived in Brisbane, Queensland in 1853 and bought land at the bottom of Albert Street, Nth Brisbane. This low-lying spot was locally known as Frogs' Hollow. The houses were bad, the drainage was poor and the creek behind was used as a tip. When it was dry the place stank. During rain, the area would flood. At this time it was said, the noise from the local "bullfrogs" was deafening....this afternoon I caught a hint of what it must have sounded like in Frogs' Hollow! I have found this cache. It could have been months ago now and I probably had a cool story to go with it at the time but instead I saved it in my found list and now I forget everything. No more of that from now on. Thanks anyway! =]
We had a nice walk along the trail in the sunshine. [^] I found a geotrail to follow but had to bush bash the last bit to get to GZ. I spotted the cache easily as I approached GZ as it was quite exposed. However, it was very difficult to get to the cache due to the thick undergrowth. I eventually found a way in, retrieved the cache and signed the log at 12:30 pm. I took a large frog and left a large smiley ball. I returned the cache to its hiding spot and tried to cover it a bit better.
Thanks Bushfire for the challenging hide and for bringing us to this serene spot that we would never have come to if it wasn't for geocaching. [^]

Found after some bush bashing fairly easy. Geofriends and I are on a roll today!
It was a serene spot here today. There was a good off-trail path leading to GZ and the cache was quickly found. Enjoyed the calmness emanating from the area before the next cache.
Found at 8:23 AM GAFF1. When we approached the real hole, an expected aroma of bird @#$% wafted in our faces and then all of a sudden a flock of birds just took off from below us. No one around today so we had the whole reserve for ourselves.

In the area grabbing a few other caches at Edwards point and this was the next one found,. Nice final GZ and a pleasant walk in. So many flowering wattle trees, I reckon it will look even better in the next few weeks. TFTC Bushfire, left blue gem stone.

Well, it's the weekend again and today is going to be an absolutely glorious day. A perfect day for a caching run on the Bellarine Peninsula with my caching mate, SedgwickDave.

Found with bogonghazy after doing Charlies Hole. He had the cache in hand after a brief search. Logged and returned. I was glad to be doing this one at this time of the year. Long grass in summer sends awful thoughts through my head, so a nice one to have crossed off today. Many thanks to bushfire.
A beautiful day to be out caching in this scenic area. This was one of the caches we targetted today and found. Thanks Bushfire, we enjoyed the exercise and the cache.

The water on the track was 10cm deep on the way in, but up to my knees on the way out - had the rain really got that hard? Still, the smaller ThreeTwoOneZero's with me on this find declared later that wading and splashing through the thigh deep water on the track was easily the best part.
At least the rain kept the mozzies away, and like others I was quite unprepared as I crested the sand bank for the sight and sound of so many ducks launching at once, surely just as surprised as we were.
The cache was still high and dry, but a little damp inside - perhaps simply too much moisture in the air?
Took a little torch/keyring, left a big yellow smiley keyring.

Quasar3671 and myself had a plan to grab some caches in Inverloch area. However plans changed as they do and we ended up on the other side of the bay for a late night run. The geotrail made this one easy to find. Removed all the cache trash that added to our collection for the night before signing the log. TFTC
Headed out tonight with C@H. Originally I'd planned to head to Inverloch but C@H changed my mind by tempting me with the option of us being able to pick up some more difficult caches on the other side of the bay in Geelong.
It worked.
We parked in the adjacent newish estate and followed the track to the point where we had to head in. A bit of bush bashing and scrounging aroung before C@H found the hide. Thanks for the cache.

Agreed, I don't fancy swimming here, the ducks don't seem to mind though. No flies or mozzies today so a pleasant stroll to the cache and a quick one back to the car as the rain started. TFTC
5th find of the day, and 2946th total find at 11:10.
So this is the real hole. I wouldn't like to go swimming in this one.
Took: Nothing
Left: Screwdriver
Thanks Bushfire for the cache
