With the massive fire that's been raging around Government Bend I can only assume that the cache has been destroyed. Hopefully I will get back to check it out soon. Heading back to WA after a quick trip home. Stay safe everyone. Hopefully the new year is safe for all.
Signed DSD with Loci612 today.
I love discovering Geocaches, Trackable items and collecting Pathtags. I have added your cache to my growing list of “Found It” logs. I hope that you enjoy Geocaching as much as I do. For me geocaching is a way of life. When I am not Geocaching, I am thinking of Geocaching. I would like to say a very big than you for placing your geocache and for maintaining it for the Geocaching Community.
In 2019, I won the right to place a Virtual 2.0 Cache from Geocaching.com, but I have not placed it yet. I am just trying to find somewhere that is worthy of a Virtual Cache.
Here is a little information about me. I have been geocaching since 2015. At the time of finding this cache I have over 5600 finds plus 340 hides. I am the creator of the “Duck Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Place for the Australian Capital Territory in the State Vs State - Battle of the Lab Caches at the OzGeoMuster - The Gong Mega 2019 in Wollongong, Australia.
Now let’s talk Pathtags. Currently I have over 4600 Pathtags in my collection plus about 500 Etagz. I currently have two of my own Pathtags (45762 & 46950) with another one in the works.

Parking and attempting this cache seems a bit daunting, which is probably why I have never stopped for it before! However today we had the rare circumstance of nobody being behind us whilst coming down the mountain, so had plenty of time to drive slow and work out where to park.
We spotted the parking area pretty quickly, luckily we were on the right side of the road as it wouldn't be possible coming up the mountain.
We then made our way to GZ and enjoyed looking down on the hairpin turn, what a great view and perspective!
Took a couple minutes to find the cache at GZ, but got there eventually, with a little bit of unloved too.
Thanks! Top location !

Find Number 1752 found at 12:42. This was the 1st find of 65 finds and 1 DNF today
GeoSon NationalSteel and I headed to Queanbeyan to spend the weekend at the Clear Waters Mega. We travelled via Captains Flat to tackle the CFT trail, and picked up some other caches on the way.
I have driven past this one many times, but have never had time to stop here. Today we made time. We took the high road, which turned out to be a mistake and had to bush-bash our way down to the lower path. We went a bit too far down and had to backtrack for a bit before making the find.
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log using the initials GT/NS and replaced the container as found
Thanks derf10 for the cache.

I was keen to explore some more of the coast, and an event at Bermagui provided the excuse to go for a drive and find a few caches. I needed the hint to find this one. A quick find once at GZ. TFTC.

Starting the day before sun up I drove out from the coast, via Nerriga, across to Tarargo and Lake Bathurst then down to Braidwood and The Clyde Mountain then back out through to Mongarlowe to Nerriga and home again.....Today was very enjoyable day of caching!,I visited some really neat spots along the way finding alot of good hides all on a beautiful scenic country drive to top it all off.
Nice spot looking down on the passing traffic, reminded me of another hide i did a few years ago.

Found 11:54 17/4/18. I had my eye on this one for a while. Finally managed to stop and walk in to get it when there wasn’t much traffic. Thank you derf10 for the cache.
Found with The Matetrix. Took a few minutes but the right spot came up quick enough. Now onto Jervis Bay for the long weekend. TNLNSL TFTC
Had this one on our list for some time & were happy to finally have the cache in our hands. We had sussed out the parking on previous trips up the mountain so knew exactly where we would park on our next trip down. Leaving the car we walked down a track that gave you views of the road below. I took several photos of cars negotiating the haripin below. We arrived at GZ but nothing really matched what I thought we should find. I climbed up the bank a short distance to further check on the tree we were examining when something else caught my attention. This was more like what I was expecting & sure enough I was soon signing the log. Put a Fav on this one for bringing us here. Kutgw
3rd DNF in a row as I headed down to the Bay. That sucks!. This one, because GPS wouldn't play the game, and I was in shorts & thongs imagining every second stick on the ground slithered! After clambering down between 2 of those old horse tracks, and not finding the said vertically challenged log, I gave up & got out. Maybe another cooler day - in jeans & shoes...
A quick trip down to the coast and back today. Finally remembered to stop at the right spot to grab this one. After a short walk I found the cache and enjoyed the view. A great spot to watch people crazily driving around the bends. The smell of burnt brakes was incredible.
Great hide!
Was happy that I was able to find an old tral down to the cache and didn't have to climb up that steep cliff.
Cool spot to watch the traffic go past.
Thanks for the detour on our way up the mountain.

I totally fluked the correct approach to this one, after overshooting it and pulling overnto investigate further. A short walk and scramble and a quick find. No leeches despite the drizzle. Picked up a TB to keep moving. Nice views from here. TFTC!
On our way to the coast from Canberra, we stopped and collected a couple of Smiley is along the way. We picked A good place to park, and made the short walk to GZ. Aside from anything, it was lovely to have a break in our drive today.
Thanks for placing the cache
A great spot. The eucalyptus smelled beautiful

We thought to grab this cache on the way down the coast but didn't do our home work and drove past the parking area for the cache. So on the way back home we had it sussed and parked at the area before the left hand hairpin. Nice view of the right hand hairpin. Great location. TFTC.
It pays to do your homework. It's a nice little trek to this cache and there's plenty of room to park safely if you're in the right spot (which we weren't the first time we'd planned to stop). The view is great and it's a view of the hairpin I never expected I'd see.
Also dropped off a travel bug because it's such a nice spot.

Enough!!! Sick of work!!! After all, it's SIX whole weeks since I've taken leave. So today, I've packed up the GeoSchnauzer transport, my geocaching kit, sundry clobber, various things to drink, and a pair of Minature Schnauzers. Me mate Knightech is coming as well, in Knighttech-trek, with more to drink.
We met up at our first find, and drove down here in company. I'd been here before, but only to park. It was about this time last year, on a day when 100 mm of rain fell. So at least I knew where to stop.
The GeoSchnauzers, Knightech and my good self wandered off down the track. The forest was quite beautiful, and we arrived at GZ to find views over the hairpin bend, and out across the valley to the ridge on the other side. Excellent in the afternoon light. Knightech found the cache, after a short search. Thanks for this one, Derf10.
It's a hot day. We are now off to the Nelligen pub to rehydrate.

After a little climb and a few circles in the right area it was found! TFTC!
Arrived here after fleeing storms back towards Batemans Bay, and heading for Canberra, thats if the weather improves.
Lost interest in this when faced with a perilous climb and crossing a dangerous corner of traffic. With no suggested parking as well ughhh, wouldnt happen today...
So, realised a nearby access, but too late, no 3G, thus no maps, maybe next decade.

This took some doing!
On the way back from a trip to the coast with Rick, yaussie, and Garry, and thought we'd stop off and try to grab this cache. After hunting around for some time, and with a large GPS error, yaussie and Garry headed back to the car.
Rick and i were about to give up on it but just as i was walking in back i noticed that the GPS was putting it in a different location to where we'd been looking, so i continued on and found it -- annoying close to our original hunting spot!
TFTC -- interesting location. Retrieved trackable.

Tried so hard slipped and fell a couple of times and decided to go back to car and give up.
Left upsidewombat and Rick, they kept looking and found it !!
will try again next time we are passing.

My Garmin lead me to the wrong "vertically challenged tree" and I was about to declare a DNF, but then I checked the next "vertically challenged tree" and that was a quick find. It is a different take on Government Bend from here. A favourite for showing this view to me. I dropped off the TB 'Smok'. TFTC derf10.
The Split and MajuraHathi were on a caching mission from Canberra to the coast and we zoomed past on the way east and missed the opportunity to visit this cache. Heading back west today though we worked out the place to stop and it was a very relaxed and happy walk in to GZ. Once there, we negotiated the last 10 metres or so with care and soon enough The Split had the cache in hand.
Hey derf10, thanks for the opportunity to stop and enjoy the view!
Cheers

To break the monotony of driving down the mountain, having missed a cache on one corner, so then decided to pull over and find this one, after a short walk located the container. Thanks to derf10
Took a much harder approach down to GZ before realising it could've been much, much easier! Took a TB to move on. TFTC.
Found on our way to Lake Tabourie for the weekend. Been meaning to get this one for a while, but we have always ran out of time to get it. So luckily, this afternoon, we were able to take the lovely stroll along the peaceful path to GZ. Once we got within 20m of GZ, it was a short scramble down to GZ for a very quick find. Fantastic view of the road - we were worried that we might have been getting too close though! Left TB. TFTC derf10!
unfortunately cant through to get cachebecause roadwork on this placed closer GZ... Never mind...
I found this awesome cache with Ostara74 while we were on holiday in the area. What a brilliant hide! We enjoyed the hunt for this cache a lot. The local area was very interesting and a great place to visit. Thank you to derf10 for their efforts of making and maintaining this cache. Thanks also for bringing us to this amazing spot. I love that caching brings me to new and usually relatively unknown places that I would never even know about, let alone find, if I wasn’t hunting for a cache. This very cool cache was my 1580th find.

Found this together with Pathfinder24 and Ostara74 on todays journey from the coast to Canberra. When we first passed it seemed like an impossible cache to do...way too steep. But as we came around the bend we saw an appropriate parking spot and from there it was a lot easier to access the cache. Still a little climb and a jump but then suddenly the cache was in our hands and we could sign the log.
Nice place for a cache
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Norway!

Found together with Pathfinder24 and ellesaich on a sunny day. This was my first of three finds today.
With ellesaich visiting us from the cold north, Pathfinder24 and I came up with a route for a camping trip to include three of Australia's states.
During our combined summer- and caching-trip in VIC, NSW and ACT we visited many lovely places and made some additional stops to look for caches on our way.
The cache was located after a short search and the log signed. And then we were quick to head back to the air conditioned car.

We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the "land down under."
Passed by the only parking spot before we realised our mistake. Luckily we found a safe place to turn around a litte farther down the road. Once parked it was a short stroll to GZ.
Thanks for the fun derf10!

Just as a tip, it's unnecessary to go anywhere near the edge (I recommend not as it would be a nasty fall!)

Homeward bound after a week on the south coast, it is always important to break the trip with a few leg stretches, particularly if there is a cache to be had. Thank you so much for the break, the hint, the views and the interesting information in your cache notes.
Thanks to derf10 for the hunt.

A brisk early morning on our way out of town with indianagleeson and geofriends
As were headed for Canberra today we decided to pick up a couple of caches along the way, we have been here before on another one some time ago. Claiming the mountain and you can feel the temperature drop, great view from here,. Quick find for us and a race back to the car. TFTC

On the way back from the coast I thought I'd catch up with this cache when a few weeks
ago could not find it. After seeing that others after me had found it I knew something was up
and sure enough the Co-ords to this one are slightly out and the most obvious vertically challenged
tree it ain't:-) Anyway found quite quickly after expanding search area and yes its pretty dam obvious
once you find it...Cheers. The GPS goes crazy in a area like this....

ANZAC day road trip to the coast for some caches and sand.
We passed this on the way down and I had wondered how you could put a cache on Government Bend. After reading the interesting description I decided I wanted to give it a go on the way home. Light traffic made it easy to pull across and park while I made the 120 metre walk down to the cache site. I had noted the "10 m NW" hint from the previous finders and took a dead tree elevator up to the cache height and noticed a likely looking spot nearby. The cache was right there in plain sight, so that made it easy. I managed to snatch some 4m accuracy coordinates which I have added to my log if you'd like to update the listing.
Thanks derf10

Off we go again on another fun filled geomission with Rapidlywild and the two ladies of the FurfacesLL This time we decided to target Batemans Bay to Tuross and surrounds as none of us had yet to make any finds at these locations. Luckily for us the rain eased mid morning so that meant the rest of the day was reasonably dry-good for caching!. An 8am start and 3am finish meant we were all geobuggered, but as always we had lots of laughs and a great day was had by all
Well this one was a challenge on many levels. The rain had made the undergrowth and the fallen trees quite slippery so I slipped and banged my ankle on a fallen tree branch. Then with the coords over 10metres out we were looking at the wrong vertically challenged trees. So then after much time going up and down and searching round and round FFLL2 spied something promising in a NW direction-ahaaa! The cache! So then with caching duties complete, off we all went back to the car to dry off!
Thanks for the hide derf10

A geomission was planned with Rapidlywild and specimenX and as no one in the group had collected any smileys down the coast the location was decided. The week of wet weather threatened for the mission to be cancelled, however the rain eased and the mission was going ahead. We awoke to overcast skies and headed off down the highway ready for a big adventure and big day, some of the group with sleepy eyes. Thanks again ladies for great day and lots of laughs we are looking forward to our next one.
We found the suitable parking place and took the path to GZ. We determined where we needed to be and the searching began round and round, back and forth, up and down, after a while we thought this one was going to get the better of us. Eventually the find was made and as previous logs have mentioned it is over 10 metres away from the posted coordinates. TFTC

The weekend was here, and there was a location that had not been violated by myself, specimenX and the FurfacesLL ladies, so the location was revealed and we were off to the coast and surrounds. The sky was not in our favor all week and it was touch and go, but the final call was made Friday night and we were all go for an early morning Saturday for a wet coast expedition. There was a lot of laughter, a lot of experiences that I had never had before, a lot of blonde moments and a lot of caches found. What a wonderful day we had over a period of 18+ hours, many many km's and seen lots of the coast
Well this one was an adventure and a half. We arrived and found a nice parking spot and wandered in. We were equiped for the day with our raincoats in place so on they went. The gound was very moist, the sky was dropping mist so it was very fresh here today. Felt like we were wandering an exotic rainforest for this one. We got to the said GZ and we had already read a few of the logs so we we prepared to expand our searching parameters. We began the search, specimenX went up first, then I went up, followed by the 2 FurFacesLL ladies. The hunt was on and we were slipping and sliding all over the place. We were getting filthy dirty looking for this one. We had mis-interpreted one of the previous logs which had us in the completely wrong location and eventually FFLL2 came up with the goods. Over there, really? hmm ok lol not even close. Agh well.
Thanks for the find derf10

I have driven past this one for what seems forever but as I was always going up the hill it remained unfound as I headed for sydney. Today was one of the rare times I headed down the hill so I had to stop and grab it. After parking and a short walk had cache in hand very quickly. So a quick walk back to thw car I was on my way. Easier than expected TFTC

Find 09 of 13 for the day and #1572 in total.
Parked a a likely place to make the approach and had the choice of two paths, took the top path while ignoring the thunder...
Got to a point where the GPSr was saying 27+m straight down hill so off we we went. Lucky for us we saw a flash of blue on the way down which turned out to be the cache although to us it looked to be out by about 14m.
Back to the car as the rain started.
Gets a favourite point from us.

It was rather warm and humid and I had made many trips up and down following the silly pointer on the iPhone. Eventually I just stumbled across it with the iPhone saying it was 16m away in a south easterly direction. So I left the scene feeling quite relieved. Some interesting views below!
Thanks derf10 for the cache which I thought was not going to become a yellow smiley.

Finally decided to make a grab for this cache as the family was heading to the coast for the day. Pulled up near by the safety ramp and headed off on the track and made the find:)
On the way down to the coast for the event, I thought I'd grab this one. I knew there would be no way that my mum would stop on the Clyde but my dad agreed to do it with some planning so this was the cache on the way down. We parked nearby and then after a brief bit of walking, got to GZ and made a quick find. A nice view of the road here. I also got a honk from E Bunny while on the way to the cache! TFTC derf10!
Located this one quickly and signed the log.
Neat view from above the traffic.

Decided to grab this one on our way to the coast after a diversion in Braidwood to collect a couple of caches there. Interesting spot atop Government Bend, funnily though for me it is right on the boundary of a property where I went last year with a bunch of mates to get away form it all! Never thought I'd be back there again looking down on the traffic climbing up the Clyde mountain. GeoSon had GPS and GZ was a bit hazy, so using the hint we scouted around a bit and came up trumps without too much difficulty. Found and took Rocky Beach TB. TFTC and taking me back to a great view.
#542 - 07:40; I had identified this cache as a must do not long after my caching adventures started. Travelling solo on business to Ulladulla provided the chance to finally make the grab. Managed to take the easy way in, but swirling GPSr saw a slight delay in locating GZ and logging the find. Dropped Rocky Beach TB for someone else to finally get it to the coast. TFTC derf10

I had chosen a few easier caches to do with my mate Darzee Di to introduce her to geocaching but when I told her about The Mountain she was keen to give it a go. We parked at the top and then dismissed the track and bush bashed our way to underneath GZ. Balance walked up to the cache and soon had it hand. Di then pointed out the track and we had a much easier walk back to the car. Not sure who is teaching who here. So glad to have finally grabbed this cache now though. Thanks derf10

Found the correct Car park up top, and took the walk into the GZ and it started a bit of a lite drizzle but that didn't stop me but after some searching here and there a disapointing nothing, perhaps I was a bit tired and thats my excuse I will return ..maybe..

A lovely spot and the view is indeed awesome! Came in from the top which is easy but potentially VERY dangerous! TFTC.
Finally got the chance today to have a crack at this one. Parked at the right spot which meant a quick walk down the old road to GZ. Took a few minutes of looking to locate the cache but we got there. A good viewing area of the road! The only trouble was geoson going sssssss which for him means a snake but thankfully there were none in attendance!
Easy find thanks to the good description. The hardest part for me was to safely pull out to park the car.
Thanks for the cache, Derf10!

Approached from th egate where is is plenty of space to park. Walked too high up and had to slide down to the cache location - which were about 13 m off. Swapped TB's.
Parked at near the safety ramp and walked up it, didnt know there was a gate further down on the next corner. The car was well enough off the road and didnt stop cars or trucks using the safety ramp. Got to gz using the old roads. Once at gz I walked around and around a object searching. Finally after 20 minutes I came up with the find. TFTC derf10
RE VISIT LOVE THIS PLACE WATHED A UTE GO SIDEWAYS DOWN THE BEND NEARLY GOING OF . LEFT TB . THANKS.
Last cache on a long day travelling and caching. Liked this location, interesting how these great locations are found and then shared. A favourite from us. tftc.
27th (our final one) on a 2 day cache safari - day 2. Very unnerving for the 1/2 of geoteam who suffers from acrophobia. This, along with the failing light made for an interesting find. Found 2xTBs. Cheers
Found @ 4:10pm with hccatcher11415 after a quick trip to the Bay
A cool view displaying some varied driving skills! Thanks for the cache derf10!

What a great way to look at the traffic! An interesting spot for a cache. Would never have had a reason to stop at this location before caching.

After struggling to find a cache today and losing daylight. H went through the spiderwebs and R was silly enough to wear thongs. grabbed the cache as the storm rolled in and the lightning was like a free light-show on the way home. Great view.

After finding to most likely parking spot near GZ. We headed along the track towards the mountain cache. The view was awesome, but there was also the smell of burning brakepads of the cars below. We loved the walk to GZ and so this fits in our criteria of favorite points. So a favorite point from us.
