We parked our car and looked over to see someone lying on the ground just in front of us. On investigation we discovered that an elderly gentleman had backed his mobility scooter off the bridge and crashed over the edge and was now unable to move. We then spent the next half hour doing our best to get him mobile again. He refused an ambulance but someone got hold of the local nurse and she was going to meet him at his home. In the end he decided he could move without too much agony - after he had smoked a cigarette while lying on the ground! He insisted that he could get himself home and by that time other family members had arrived to follow him home!
We then did our best on the cache but came to a full stop at the final. We spent another half hour hunting but in the end came away empty handed.
All in all it was quite an experience.
Thanks
Iris & Rodney

As co-owners of this cache, I think it can be considered disabled at present. It is quite likely that WP 2 has floated off if the water has been that high. May possibly get a chance to check it next weekend.
Couldn't find second waypoint cache. Lake was extremely high several weeks ago (water level above road) so could it have been washed away?
Did it with DT Willie and dogs who had fun in the water, found the first point but couldn't find the second. May have been washed away with the high lake levels
Two waypoints missing.
Annie and PB will replace them in the next couple of days.

Well, this turned into a a two visit mission. We left Greymouth around 7:30pm on the first night, hoping we'd breeze through all the waypoints and be able to grab the cache before it got dark. We arrived at the start just before 8:00. We made our way through the first three WP's without issue, then got to #4, searched, searched and searched some more, ended up rather grubby and still couldn't locate anything that was relevant. At this stage we could either flag it and go home, or make some guesses and see if we could pick up the trail. We decided we'd try our luck. We carried on, and after a little bit of a wander B spied some suspicious broken ferns. Sure enough, after a bit of a search, a container was located. Phew! We carried on to the next location, where once again we searched, searched and searched some more, and once again came up with nothing. Seeing as it was clearly our lucky night we carried on and once again located a suspicious looking area where a container was soon located. The remaining points were located pretty quickly, though it was dark in the bush, and one location the GPS was telling us was still 15m away, but the spot we were at looked likely, and sure enough there it was. We got to the final spot right as it was getting fully dark. The lights from nearby just weren't helpful enough. We gave the area a good going over, but just couldn't find the final container. After a good 15 minutes of searching we called it a night. We got home at 10:30. Returned the following day and having light certainly helps. We located the cache pretty quickly. We must have been oh so close previously. Thanks for the effort involved in setting this up, hopefully it lasts. A nice tour of the area. TNLN, TFTC.
Great course. Had a fun afternoon with my daughter. Definitely some are easier to find than others, and the titles are essential clues in some cases. Thanks for setting this up, and I hope that it stays usable for many others.
