i looked for this one for a while, but considering the hint and the last found date, i think it's possibly gone. nevertheless i enjoyed a cup of tea in this beautiful place. and i loved the sign on the little hut, couldn't say it any better
Searched the area, but sadly a DNF for us here today.
What a fabulous river crossing. Just fabulous. Sadly we arrived on dusk so did not have an hour to spare looking for the cache like the previous finders so a DNF for us. The big tree near GZ looks like cachers have ripped it apart.
Thanks anyway ROBTAS

What a brilliant cache location... Preferably need a 4WD to get here though ATM
Not a quick find but soon narrowed down the possibilities. We had tried this one before and not found it so can now take this one off our list! Drove through Black River on the causeway, plenty of water flowing but safe in the XTrail. TFTC

We replaced this cache today, the cache is a plastic container, with log, pencil and a few small swaps to start things off. Can still be found near a large tree but the cordinates are slightly different at S 040 54. 022. E 145 17. 780, we have also left a travel bug for the lucky first finder
having a problem getting to the site at the moment to replace it.
Would appreciate it if the next cacher could replace it for me.
Thanks in anticipation.

Didn't find this one. Had a good look in the most obvious place and then widened our search without any luck. Enjoyed driving over the river crossing though!
So been here before but was only too happy to drive thru the river again for a cache on our caching day trip with phill265
Looked like the cache grew in the hide. There were men with dogs and motorbikes camping here, so we didn't stay long, but did take the motor home across the river. This trip to Tasmania going anticlockwise from Devonport is our third trip and the first in our motorhome. This is another cache, there will be many more, hopefully.
A nice easy find.

Hi robtas
This cache definitely gets a favourites point from me.
The drives in is and out are enjoyable and scenic. Then arriving at the river is impressive. Assessment made and across in the small Toyota.
The sounds of children swimming and splashing further up the river made the quick find even better.
Logged the cache at 1335hrs and then washed the bottom of the car again.
Thanks for a terrific adventure, especially as this was my first but not my last visit to this picnic ground.
TFTC and cheers
Oldsaint.

River Crossing not a problem today, 4WD and good clearance.
Despite being a long weekend, the spot was deserted.
As for the cache, unfortunately GPS was quite a bit out - but 10yo geokid found it OK !
Tad damp, but everyhing stays damp around these parts. T-soldier, L-clip, SL. TFTC.

We came here, admired the beauty of this inviting spot and of the way in - only to discover that we would have had to cross the river to get to the cache. After some pondering we decided that the water was too deep for our liking and went the long way round to then make a quick find. We are glad that we found the prettier way in first!
Thanks for the hint: GPS was jumping around. Cache is a little damp. We placed the logbook inside a ziplock bag for protection.

Had to abort our attempt at getting this one because the river was high and flowing too fast for us to cross.
Co ords spot on we found it in the dark, our last cache of the day before heading back to Stanley. The river was low enough to cross. Cache was 1/4 full of water which we emptied out, suprisingly the log book was only damp and in good condition. This is a very nice camping spot have camped on the other side earlier this year. It has survived the floods TFTC
This one may need checking, the flood waters through here a few days back were quite significant. The picnic shelter on the other side of the river to the cache was at least half under water. I couldn't cross the river as it was still flooded, but if the cache was hidden near the river it may well have been washed away.

Wow, these coordinates were out by lots for us. We found it at 40 degrees 54.014 south 145 degrees 17.753 east +/- 6 m with my Garmin and the external antenna.
Found it after some searching but about 30m away from where our GPS indicated. Don't know if our GPS was playing tricks in the densely wooded area or if the published coordinates are a little off. We decided not to attempt to cross the river to another cache as there was swiftly flowing water over teh concrete ford. TFTC
Nope, no luck for us here. Searched around about 4 large trees, as the GPS would not settle down. The late hour, and grey skies and rain were not helping the task. We contemplated camping here for the night, but dismissed it when the rain would not stop.

Continuing our tour of Hobart and surrounds with maccamob and walking on from a DNF at It's Love Cache we were hoping for better luck here. We were glad that our luck changed and the cache was found not long after we found our way to gz
This area turned out a lot easier to access that what it looked like on the map.
Thanks Robtas for the cache

What a great place, Mr will.mott knew about this place but I have never been here before, we went across in my commodore no troubles but it is summer and not alot of water, will come back for day trip. Walked to far the first time looking for the cache but when couldnt find it there then looked around and found another obvious spot. Thanks robtas, great spot.

I really like this spot. Cord's are out a bit. But would return here for day trip. TNLN

Very nicely presented Robtas cache in an awesome spot! (Dry container!) Packed food friends, 4wd expert, shovel and boogieboard into cache mobile for my driving lesson and set off into the mizzle via Forest then on the Spion Kop Road. Cachemobile very happy to imitate it's bigger relatives and disturb the muggles fishing on the other side. logging has in progress appears now finished in the immediate vicinity of the Pine Corner road which took us onto Dip falls ( ignore all signposted side routes ) . It is signed "Black river picnic area" from either east or western approaches - the west being the most accessible for 2WD but in dry weather either would be ok. We could have crossed on foot the base of the ford being visible through the tea clearwater. Top placement - many thanks robtas. and to dean erwin for the trail advice. Took geocoin and handed off to indy who can help it further in its mission
Nice picnic spot, and crossing the river was fun and no problem at all in forthferalz 4wd. We didn't have to swim! Yay! Some muggles were having a bbq lunch fairly close to the cache, hopefully they didn't get too suspicious with a bunch of us geocachers poking around. Recrossed the river and ate our own lunch, then headed off for Dip Falls.
Drove in from the west with forthferalz and hookline, looked at the river and decided it was crossable so we did. We found some muggles on the other side who had driven a Pulsar across! The cache was easily found, the river was crossed again (because we could) to have lunch on the other side, then we recrossed the river and went out via Pine Corner Road which was fine, although had obviously had trees down across it recently.
Took Pathtag and left toy car.
TFTC Rob Tas, this is a lovely spot, would be even better in summer.

This is a big fat DNF... we tried for two hours from all angles and roads to get to this one but it just wasn't to be. I'm sure D's log will spell it all out for you so I won't go again and bore you all.
We arrived at the crossing from the West and had a good look around on this side before deciding that the cache must be on the far side of the river. In our search we stumble across "Gladys'" grave site at the base of a big tree. The water depth was 200mm and flowing quite quickly. As our geo-mobile didn't quite have this clearance, and we didn't really have the knowledge or experience to make an educated decision as to whether a crossing like this was safe in our vehicle and at this depth, we decided not to cross here and to try to find an alternative road to the opposite side. After following some other roads to the North looking for a bridge we eventually returned to the Bass Highway and followed the road to dip falls. We turned off at Mathers Road and tried to follow this to the junction of Pine Corner Road and Spion Kop Road. The road got worse and worse - after getting bogged trying to get around a fallen tree we pressed on, but eventually the trail became unpassable in our vehicle. We continued on foot for another few hundred metres but ended up deciding that we were heading in the wrong direction. We learned a couple of lessons here - (1) we shouldn't press on along roads that are unsuitable for our geomobile just because "we have come so far already", and (2) we should bring a packed lunch!
Very Very nice spot this one
Took a little finding the loot but we did in the end
There was a few muggles fishing off the crossing but it wasn't a worry
thnx for this cache
All is well at GZ

On a random geomobile cruise this afternoon and the next nearest cache was this one
I followed the roads into the forest.
There is logging going on just to the east of the river crossing at the moment.
But it was Saturday arvo so I didn't have to worry about trees falling on me as I drove past
The area around the river was beautiful, in stark contrast to what I had just seen.
There was a healthy flow of water over the causeway, but not enough to worry anyone. It just looked and sounded good
Wandering over to GZ I found a couple of likely trees to hide a cache near....nup!!
A bit further along and another tree, still very big, but not as big....nup!!
So I wandered back away from where the GPS was stubbornly pointing and found another likely tree....yup!!
Too many very big trees
TFTC.
I saw "IO Austrian" geocoin again in this cache

What a beaut spot. Half of the partnership had been here before. After reading the logs we started looking on the wrong side of the river but after exhausting the supply of large trees over there went back. Found it fairly quickly then. Left Austrian geocow geocoin and took TB. Then had great fun driving the car flat out through the river to clean it off a bit.

Not much water here today, hardly even makes a wake...
Found cache using hint as TomTom useless.
TNLN. Thanks.
Logged as 29 Feb - thats what my watch said...

What a shame to have just missed Deegees - would have enjoyed catching up with a local cacher. Loved this river crossing area - certainly a great spot for camping! Found coords out by about 50m so have included what my reading was here - I also found several trees agreeing with the hint description but eventually found the right one. Swapped GCs and left my pathtag.
Thanks for bringing us here, Robtas.

I needed the hint, and then there were four possibilities. Each one gave about 20metres to cache so it was down to looking hard. Found it on the fifth! Have camped here on occasion. I think I just missed Urch TNLNSL TFTC
Cache was very conspicuous with bricks covering hide...could see too easily...as this is quite a popular fishing spot with track going past and down stream...so hope you don't mind robtas....but removed bricks and put some natural cover...otherwise cache would have been muggled real soon I expect. A really lovely spot here with BBQ's both sides of the river...top spot to camp and have a fish. Many thanks robtas....TFTEC...TNLN...Cheers. FTF as well.
Not claiming a FTF as we were (sort of) there for the hide, actually we went and played down a track, then came back to discover a tyre had gone flat (and no, it was'nt caused by the track, it ended up being a dead valve) - cheers!
There for the hide, so not claiming FTF. Lovely spot. Could camp here overnight for free if needed! Wood bBQ's, benches, shelter, tables.
