Short-stuff has never seen The Simpsons, but the titles of these caches really appeal to her five-year-old sense of humour. So, to keep both of us amused, we decided a drive in the hills was in order.

I bolted up the hill alone to get this one, as it wasn't possible to park in a more kid-friendly location; thankfully a quick find, and we were on our way again.

Find # 1864

Well, it is a fine winters morning and again time for my caching partner in crime sedgwickDave and I to head out on another caching run, headed towards St Andrews, Hurstbridge and the Nutfield area. We usually cache on a Saturday, but decided to change it up a bit and do a Sunday this time.

We drove past the cache and found a spot to park. found the cache quite quickly, the hardest part was actually extracting it from its hiding spot. Razz

Thanks to homerjay73 for the cache. TNLN. Big GrinCool

Found @1539 #1696
Today was another epic cache run with best mate Ahomburg thru the Yea, St. Andrews and Hurstbridge regions.

Cool another homerjay73 cache and fun drive by after a short walk in. Cache is in good condition and the tuff bit was removing the cache from its hide. TFTC homerjay73 another of yours found. Nice views at GZ Cool

My GPS was all over the place telling me It's behind you, no it's behind you, it's still behind you... GRR! Eventually I gave up and took the path that seemed the most likely direction and eventually the GPS got a grip on reality and helped my find the spot (and checking a few similar hiding holes first). Really enjoying our drive through the countryside today and i'm even wearing shorts & a t-shirt Surprised. This one had me walking in circles near the road for a while until the satellites decided to play the game ... then they sent me up the hill about 30m where i quickly found the prize Big Grin. I covered it a little better than how i found it as i saw it from about 10 meters away Surprised. All is ok and dry. Thanks again homerjay73

This was a trip back in time for me as I used to live not far from here along this road (before it was sealed). In fact, I can remember helping my dad cut firewood along this exact bit of track beside the road. He was really happy to find a fallen hollow tree and had been cutting into it with the chainsaw for a couple of minutes when he stopped suddenly and came pounding back down the hill followed by half the hive of wild bees that he'd disturbed Big Grin. It still makes me laugh to this day. Maybe I should remind him of it again when I see him next Twisted.
Took: Possum and Eat, Sleep, Cache TB. Left: Pathtag.

Cheers homerjay73, it was good to see that the bees weren't still lurking here. I don't think I can run all that fast with the three year old tucked under the arm Razz.

Damn spider webs!! I swear this geocaching business is all about me finding as many spiderwebs as I can to walk through. I should have followed my instinct in the first place to head towards GZ, but decided to go along the road... and then through the trees. I got one major web in my hair... complete with dead flies! YUCK!!! Finally finding the cache was fairly easy... signed the log and carefully replaced. TFTC Smile but not the spiderweb experience.

1.25 Just the two of us out today trying my new birthday present. Its working well and I think I will keep it. Once I cleared through those cobwebs all was cool and it was a nice easy find.
We took time out to drive around the affected areas of the dreadful bush fires of some 13 months ago. They have done a wonderful job in the rebuilding, and vegetation has come back so quickly, it is such a lovley area to come to.
Thanks for the cache

From reading the description, we thought we would be in for a bit of a climb. This proved not to be the case, just a short walk from the road.
Lots of possible places to hide a small container.
Thanks, Robmc.

Found at 12.00noon GAFF1 in the company of Rabbitto. A short walk to GZ and along the way Rabbitto and I admired the view. We then noticed the Foxtel (?) cable running along the hill which made us think that we were not that far into the bush after all.

The cache was found after widening our search area, which was the start of our difficulties for the rest of the day.

Thanks homerjay.

Took us a while to spot this one. It seems Rabbitto and Pprass put them back pretty well!
Otherwise no trouble. Thanks homerjay73

Located by Rubus Pickers at 4.13pm on 8/7/2009 after a short walk. We had time for a couple of quick finds after hiding a cache in Cottlesbridge. This road brings back memories of running during my teenage years. T2L3. Thanks for the cache Homerjay73.

Another quick find around here. Gee the bush smelt good today with a bit of misty rain about. I would recommend those who have not done these caches yet to get in and do them now before the bush fire season starts again. Thanks again homerjay for bringing us here.

Decided we wanted to do some caches after a barbecue at midday, which ended rather later than expected. It was 7pm by the time we got to the cache, and because daylight saving ended today, it was very dark. We had a torch, but it was rather inadequate. Still, we managed to find the cache, fortunately. We quickly signed the log, and dropped in the LonnTravel bug. It was rather scary out there in the middle of nowhere at nighttime. You miss out on the beauty of the bush too, coz you just can't see it. Maybe we'll do this type of cache in the daylight hours in future. Thanks for the adventure Homerjay73.

16:00hrs. Found after a little searching....lots of recent scratchings going on around here! T2L2SL. The smell the Solomon Family encountered were probably the decomposing bunnies....what with that and snakes, ahhhh, great time of year for caching! Cheers.

Found by Bob at 1325

I enjoy driving around and exploring the minor roads in this area so, when I had nothing to do for the afternoon, I decided to head off and grab a few caches. This one was a nice, quick find (although it was well concealed) after a short walk on this very hot (42°) day.

TNLN

Thanks again HJ73

~16:50 King Jnr with Jeff and Squire after a nice Australia Day BBQ. A relatively easy find but the stench after getting out of the car ! it must have been garbage day today - pity as it detracted from the great view. Added a mini tupper key ring and something else to the near empty cache. Thanks again homerjay73.

25th & Last of the day. Good-sized cache, but lots of room and nothing else. Luckily 4yo didn't see this one as he was asleep. Sad
Hopefully next cachers will leave something behind. We were out of swaps after adding bits & pieces to caches today, so hopefully someone will fill them for future swaps.

Once there a quick find though Rubik had done a good job covering it up.

Third of twenty five cache finds for the day, the cache was found at 09:55 in the company of Alansee. A nice drive to GZ where we soon had this one in hand. Thanks homerjay73 for the cache.

Several arrived before us in the last couple of days. Cannot claim a podium finish. Yet the container was nearly empty so we dropped in a Golfaholic keyring to kick things along. TFTC (almost left the darkies behind but need them for driving to the next cache)

A surprising 2nd and 3rd to find this morning. Enjoyed the trip here through those lovely rolling hills, still showing some green for now. The cache was a tad empty, although they can get expensive to fill!. Thanks Homerjay73.

02-Jan-09
This was second on my route of potential FTFs in this area. I arrived at GZ and found the cache at 07:10 in the first place I looked, a rarity for HJ73 caches Wink.

For the second time today, the logbook was empty and so I was able to log our 33rd FTF (Big Grin × 33).

TNLNSL, although our FTF geocoins had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks again homerjay73, a great bike road for sure and some nice views along the way Smile.
