Collected the remains of the cache and its contents and placed those cache items that I could clean up reasonably well into the nearby 'Pork Chop' cache (GC11YFG). This cache can finally be laid to rest.

17-Mar-13
While out looking for another cache I happened to find a 200ml Sistema box a little off the beaten path in a somewhat sorry state of disrepair. One of the clips was missing and the logbook was little more than a mass of paper mache, although the other cache items were largely okay. The irony was that I was in completely the wrong place for the cache I was supposed to be looking for and I couldn't find any Geocache entries that were located at this spot. Thankfully a fellow geocacher was able to solve the mystery and help me track down a cache id.

I have restored the cache to the location that I found it but in a moment of brilliance forgot to add anything to the cache that would show that I'd been there (logbook was unusable) or record the coordinates. As this Geocache is now archived and the cache owner hasn't be active for some time, I'm not really sure what I should do with the cache itself... I will be heading back up that way at some stage so could retrieve the cache and contents if need be.

end of the ride!

08-Apr-10

28-Mar-10
Had a good look round after failing to find on a previous occassion. This time are certain cache has been removed/destroyed. Shame, it's a good site, and a nice clue.

12-Feb-10
Hmm.....had a very good look around and sadly it looked like we found the evidence of where the cache was MEANT to have been but was not there. The clue and GPS both pointed to where we were searching but to no avail. Have asked the owner to have a look and check that it hasn't been muggled since last visit on 6th Feb.

10-Jan-10
Looked for this cache sometime ago but decided it must be missing so when we saw the new coords posted by Geckoh on Dec 28, decided to have another look. Easily found this time with GPS taking us straight there. Left 5 p UK coin and plastic deer. Took Flying Kiwi Travel Bug, hoping to take him north soon.

10-Jan-10
Had a bit of difficulty with this one, but found it eventually. The clue is misleading. Once we put that aside we could look in different places. TFTC.

09-Jan-10
Didn't find it, should have read logs and tried Gekoh's points

05-Jan-10
Yes this time I found it..at the new co-ords. The hints are of no use-didn't make sense to me anyhow.
Started my Flying Kiwi Travel bugs here. I hope you can help him fly!

01-Jan-10
A while ago we had an extensive search after work - twice. We'd given up on it but the recent finds and new coords prodded us in to trying again. So on a very gusty New Years day we finally found it Very Happy

A new container is needed as only one clip remains.

- bag + finger lazer light

Last cache of the day. I had a days pay riding on the final location for this one - fortunately I was right! Quick find and down off the hill before it got too dark to see or rained any harder.

** Coordinates Changed From **
S 40° 22.636 E 175° 38.052
Distance From Old: 30.7 feet
Unfortunately our original position turned out to be a bit wet so moved to a hopefully dryer location.

22-Mar-09
Thanks for the new coordinates. I'll have another try for this one when I'm back up that way from Levin.

20-Mar-09
I see the cache notes have changed since I pulled the data for my cache search on 15-16 March 09. Those changes suggest a new location for the cache. The posted coordinates have not changed however. I am therefore left a little confused -- unless the cache has only moved vertically!

20-Mar-09
Ditto, Searched the obvious walkover spot without success. Could cache owner pse verify the posted co-ords are what they intend them to be.

16-Mar-09
14:14
Well, I found an obvious "walkover" spot right where my GPS said it should be but the cache was absent. Searched around some for other possibilities but drew a blank. Either I'm too dumb or the cache has vanished! Has it by any chance been removed for maintenance and the fact not logged? I'll put this on my watch list.

09-Mar-09
nice vews
+ empty bullet shell
verry wet. TFTC

08-Mar-09
Lovely little observatory here.. Wonder when its open or if you can visit or what its used for.. Pity the cache was so wet, we tried to scrawl our names on the sopping log but not sure it came out so well.. Ended up with purple fingers after this cache.. Thanks for the cache..

08-Mar-09
this cache needs a long dry out time so wet that i could not sign log pencil had no tip and the bag is full of ink

08-Mar-09
Needs replacing and made waterproof.. Contents are totally soaked and drenched.. Unlikely you will be able to dry it out..

03-Mar-09
URGENT!!! Help, I'm soggy wet drowning in purple ink!

03-Mar-09
Found it but ugh, we're not touching that mess! Soggy wet and completely covered in purple ink. Signed our names on a scrap of cardboard and left in the cache. Certainly TNLN but still got ink on the hands. A useless cache in this condition, needs urgent attention.
Interesting spot on the hill and good view. TFTC.

03-Mar-09
Found it with Punga and Paua. Nice spot and view from up there. Cache was full of purple ink, so we signed a bit a cardboard we had. Didn't have anything with us that we could use to clean it up unfortunately. TFTC

01-Mar-09
A soggy, inky mess.
TNLN.

22-Feb-09
Cache had floated free following heavy rain. Found it some distance from it's intended location. Put it back where I "think" it came from.
****Needs URGENT maintenance, totally water logged. Unable to dry it out due to muggles. Did manage to empty the water out of the cache though. Unable to sign log.
TNLN TFTC

15-Feb-09
This cache needs urgent attention as it is totally saturated!!!. I emptied the water out but the log book is virtually ruined. TFTC TNLN

07-Feb-09
Found on another warm day.
TFTC TNSL

06-Feb-09
a nice walk and view, and (for once for me) an easy find, although I took some time to find the pencil to log it .....
another rarity - no rock .

04-Feb-09
Quick find while in the city on business

30-Jan-09
Tried to do this one a few days ago... but got caught in a torrential downpour. Things got very muddy and I couldn't see through the the waterfall my raincoat hood created. Gave up to go another day.

Completed the mission today. Originally went up to deposit a geocoin which required photos to be taken and uploaded. Thought this would be a good spot to photograph.

Needed to use the clue.... but not too difficult.
+ geocoin
- a cool pet rock (kiwi)

29-Jan-09
Found nice and easy, contents a little damp. A few dodge looking boy racers up here. Tis lovely view other than those people. TNLN

28-Jan-09
Our 50th find. Hooray!!!!! Took nothing out & left a pet rock ( a kiwi )

25-Jan-09
Remember coming up here for another cache a while back, however didn't visit this particular part. Great views today. TFTC

22-Jan-09
Two years in Palmy almost to the day, and I've never been up here! Was well worth the ride on a balmy summer evening - nice view and found this and Pork Chop, both well hidden but easy finds.

As noted by others, the cache contents are a bit damp.

20-Jan-09
Nice to come home from holiday and find a new cache here in PN, thanks Willibobs. It's a bit muddy on the outside and damp on the inside - these containers shouldn't leak should they? A pleasant outlook from here.

20-Jan-09
Found without a problem. Noted that the cache site will experience possible problems in times of wet weather and if I had a spare zip lock bag would have double baged the contents, Other than that observation thanks 4 the effort in making a good hide. Left geocoin to send it on iots travels as it has been in my possession for too long.

17-Jan-09
Box contents were quite wet!

11-Jan-09
Quick find but I like the the cache as very unlikely to find by accident. Third and final cache of the day. Took blue bead neclace and left purple plastic flower.

07-Jan-09
A quick find. Nice cache, good views.
- geocoin
Thanks.

06-Jan-09
Found a very muddy cache, though inner was dry.
Dropped off John Stead's UK geocoin.

04-Jan-09
Went up there yesterday & it was pouring down & blowing so gave up.
Nice easy find, our first of 4 today.
Contents were a little wet so dried in sun for a bit.
NTNL

Cheers

04-Jan-09
Saw this one appeared in the couple of days between when I dowloaded my pocket query for this trip to Palmy and us actually getting out and about. Very easy find for gonefishing juniors who had it ih hand before I had even finished loading the coords into the GPS back at the car!
- USA Geocoin, glass pebble
+ balloon
TFTC

03-Jan-09
0paco0, Red and the Cache-dogs ot for an early morning stroll.

Great hide, but... Red Face cache was under (rain)water. Will need to re-position in a drier place, we think. Contents still fairly dry, but not for long. We put it back in the same spot. That blasted Manawatu weather, eh?

IN: USA Geocoin
OUT: balloon

Thanks for the cache.

03-Jan-09
Mrs Sobad was looking while Sobad collected the car from the bottom of the hill. However lost track of time and security people arrived to lock up while still looking. Have to be another time.

02-Jan-09
My first cache for 2009 and a FTF to go with it. Must be a good omen for the year of caching to come.

A straight forward find thank you. Great to have yet another cache location established in PN and an opportunity to enjoy the vista from this elevated spot.

TNLN (but brought some visiting bugs), TFTC - found also with Sweet P, and visiting team cachers Sav Blanc Woman and the Neanderthal man! Big Grin
The Turtle strikes again!
