We stopped by on a cold and windy day to visit some TB's before we let them free.
took sometime to locate junior had to get in under steps to find easier to dodge themuggles as well SL TFTC Collected the pathtag thanks junior really wanted another as only got 2
Came bearing one of bushfire's tools for our second attempt at this one and found it in two minutes! Reflecting on our last attempt, we were half blind ;-p
Searched for ages, used the hints but still couldnt find it. Possibly muggled, or we are half blind! haha
Rocky Glen Grommets were visiting Victoria (Aussie MotoGP at Phillip Island) and were on their way home when they decided to do some caching - this was number 5 for today before heading along the great Ocean Road - left a pathtag.
Nice cache at a great place! We found it on a nice day with high waves, unfortunately there were no surfers!
TFTC and greetings from Germany!

An easy grab today as there was nobody in the observation deck or the steps to the beach. Spot on co-ords had it in hand quickly. TFTC
An easy find as we could see the cache as we walked over the landing, retrieving was not to hard as the only people were the surfers passing up & down, and they had no care.

What a great spot for a cache.
Followed the clues and had the cache in hand just as the sun was going down.
The swell was small today so no too many people arround.
Made the find nice and easy.

Well what a glorious place, took F2 out for Mothers Day. A nice drive and how about some caching, if it brings us to places like this anytime. This place has Muggles almost falling over the edges trying to get to the beach. We had to stop and start our searching several times as we allowed people and surf boards to pass us. Even with the hint this is a tricky find, great spot great cache, thank you for sharing it with us. Saw a Geocoin and thought we would help it on its way. TFTC
One thing I forgot on this adventure was a camera - don't do as I did, great photo opportunities.
One thing I forgot on this adventure was a camera - don't do as I did, great photo opportunities.
What a great location - couldn't stop watching the surfers. I'd dare to try it but it would probably be a fatal mixture of "Titanic", "Moby Dick" and "The Abyss" [B)] At the beach I also collect a little sample of sand for a friend of mine who collect sand from all over the world. Crazy what people do for a hobby - besides seeking plastic boxes somewhere?
I guess little "Arne" - the real life patron of the coin that I left here - would be amazed of this beach although he might be a little young to test the waves. Please keep this little coin moving.
Greeting from Germany and TFTC,

A nice starter for the day. Found with Alsume at 9:45am. Surf was up for the unwary TNLN Thanks Mr Emu.
Found at 9:45am with LinearZZ before starting our assault on the EMU caches nearby. Great spot, fantastic views. Even good entertainment when a lady (fully dressed)on the beach was showing off to her partner as she let the waves splash over her legs. She got more than she bargained for when the next wave was somewhat bigger and she was drenched almost from head to toe. Now it's off for some EMUs.

Wanted to get here today, so bypassed a few others on the run from Torquay...Certainly worth the effort...surf was very flat this morning so not many people about. Thanks.
Not many around today, odd as it was warm and awesome. I spose the waves wernt huge though. Down the hill they were setting up for a carnival of some discription, unsure which event. The cache is cleverly positioned so if you sit on the steps you cant be seen from the viewing platform which is nice as most of the tourists stop there and didnt come down futher. Still needed the clue to ensure a quick stealthy grab though. Cheers from Sydney! Took TB, left a Geocoin.

Surf comp on, had no chance of getting near it. Good to see the famous beach, and surf comp. Cheers
Ripped off by the Rip Curl World Pro Tour.
It had started the day before and taken over the beach and surrounding area.
Unless you handed over $11 all you could do was drive down the road.
I got to within 148 metres of the cache.
Curse those security guards.

Down here from the states and WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!!!!! Got to GZ but loads of Muggles! Hung around until the coast was clear, and then joy! Thanks for the great cache! TNLN
Happy St Pat's Day ! A quick find on the way home from Torquay Junior Footy's "Meet the coaches" for U/10 and U/12's. I'd been wanting to visit this cache for ages and now was our chance ! After a couple of nice warm days, a brisk southerly had come up and that, combined with the late-ish hour knocked out the surf and therefore kept Muggles to a minimum at this usually busy spot. Juc Jr#2 made the quick find and we scuttled away from GZ to do the logs and check the swaps. We dropped the Coochie Stein TB, because I think more than a few beers might go down here over the next few weeks and picked up The Bear Marylin TB. We will send her on her way very soon ! TFTC. It's always good to know these secrets are in our back yard.
With this log, we will also dip a few other trackables we have.

Find # 3135 and 4th of the day at 8:07 am. Accompanied by Feathertop on our Great Ocean Road Trip. Nice easy find, TNLN, left my mark in the log, Thanx 379Jonti379....
The last time I was in this area I did the short lived original cache.
Far fewer muggles today as the sea was glass smooth with little or no swell.
Had the place to ourselves for an easy find and a good hide with nice clue.
Thanks Mr Emu, the first of 20 or so of your caches today with Oenze.

This was cache # 24 of 43 for the day, on our tour of Geelong and the Surf Coast. There were only a few Muggles at the lookout and thankfully the cache was out of sight, there were quite a few surfers out but not much surf was happening. My thanks to Mr Emu for the cache.
Found while out with Acts2YouthGroup on a good weather day for caching. We had completed the caches we were after in Geelong and came down here for some outstanding caches. Not too many at Bell's today so this was a reasonably easy find in a very good spot. Thanks Mr Emu.
Found the cache this morning at 7.00am This is the second attempt with this one, as beanie and myself

Bluey recovered this one. We decided to read the clue given that the cache is in such a busy area this time of year. Alas the clue didn't help unless you had arms like inspector gadget. With the help of Hobbo and Squid acting as cockatoos wBluey managed to grab the cache and we made a small swap before replacing it again. Stuck our feet in the water before heading to Southside for a swim. Love the area, thanks to Emu.
There was some muggle activity around but with a little patience we were able to locate this cache quite easily. TNLNSL. Thanks
Found at 20:06 with barely a soul around on our way back from dinner in Torquay.
Picked up Nicolay's Surf Bug TB and left 5 Star SCUBA Geocoin.

Late afternoon with a howling on-shore wind made for easy, muggle-free maintenance today.
I was a bit worried after seeing the previous log(s) that the container might be in really bad shape, but I don't think it's going to be a big problem for a while, as long as all visitors are careful with both retrieval of the cache and replacement of the lid. Yes, the catch on the 400mL Sistema is a bit on the loose side (sadly this is not that unusual). However I found that reversing the lid gave me the required "snap" on both sides - and I recommend future finders try both ways to get the best closure. I also noticed that the smallish piece of wood I placed shielding the cache (only from any casual visitors who may have left the landing) was bent over and visible through the decking from from above [:(!]. Future finders should feel free to straighten it - nothing should be visible from the deck.
I encourage anyone having the slightest difficulty to use the VERY SPECIFIC HINT. It will allow you to place your hand right on the cache (or the shielding piece of wood if you are one plank too far to the right). That way you can get a good grip on container and clips, ensuring the lid comes with it!
Thanks to "Biggles of Oz" and "Mrs Biggles" for letting me know about the problem - I'll keep an eye on it from now on.

We had a bit of trouble on our first visit because of the constant run of surf muggles so decided to visit later in the day which proved to be much more successful. Good hide and lovely spot to visit.
TN but dropped off Gold Shadow Geocoin #2 2007 AU86PB on its quest to visit as many zoos as possible.

It took a couple of attempts today to locate this one as the constant procession of surfie muggles interfered with our investigative proceedings! None-the-less on our second attempt (early evening), with the pedestrian traffic greatly reduced, we were able to extract the cache. Mind you though I had to jump off into the shrubbery to eye-ball the actual location before chiseling it away from the hide. Retrieving the cache also was a bit of a disaster as one of the Sistema latches is worn so when I grabbed the container the lid remained behind and all the contents scattered underneath the steps requiring me to dive back under the platform to grab all the things before the wind took them away. [:o)] (I'll probably put a maintenance request in to the cache owner to see if they would replace the container as this may become a growing problem as the catch weakens more.)
Anyway enjoyed the challenge of finding this cache despite the huge muggle traffic.

One of the latches on the lid of the Sistema container is wearing so it doesn't have a strong and locked attachment to the actual container. When I grabbed the cache (by the container) the lid remained and the contents spilled out. Fortunately I was able to retrieve everything unseen, but this may not be so easy should it happen for someone not as nimble and may 'give away' the location to muggles during periods of heavy traffic. Maybe a new container is a possibility [^] ?
#1462 A bit windy today... rain wasn't nice either... Over from Canada... see the other side of the world.. TFTC
Being a keen surfer it was nice to bag this one. I've now been to The pipeline masters, caught a few waves at Waimea bay and now had the opportunity to visit Bells. Shame it was as flat as a tack. Still, we had a beautiful day. Tftc.
Greetings from Canada. Sorry for the delay in logging this cache but we just got home. Assuming we were at the right landing, there was no trace of a cache at this spot.
All the surfers were on the other side of the cliff so we could retrieve the cache undisturbed. It proved to be a bit tricky anyhow, but after running back to the car and getting the hint we finally found it. Thanks for the cache, and greetings from Sweden.
Nice hiding place, it took us a while til we found the cache.

Found it at 1030 this morning. Quite a few surfers around on this nice Sunday morning. We were at wrong level for a while, but soon enough got the right one. The cache protection had me stumped for a while. Got a geo-splinter in the hand while searched which had to be removed by mrs iamapom. Good cache, good location, and just a little bit tricky ! Tftc
With the shopping continuing in Torquay, I received approval for another find . The conditions were terrible for surfing today, which of course meant that it was great for caching – well, for this one at least . Despite that, time was against me so a healthy decrypting of the hint soon had me with the stash in hand at 14:35.

We must have picked the only day that this place isn't crawling surfers, the wind and tide conspired to ensure that there was virtually no swell and nothing you could call surf. But of course there still were two surfers in the water trying to work what was off the point and a good half dozen in the car park hoping that the turn of the tide would bring them something.
All good for us as we could happily search without interruption but with good fortune Facitman was able to put his hand on the cache in one of the first spots he tried.

With a very strong northerly blowing, the surf wasn't too flash, but that did not mean the car park was empty. Dozens of frozen black clad muggles were bobbing up and down with the small waves coming towards shore.
This made the searching easy enough, noone came down the steps when I was there. A long reach and the cache was mine.
Always nice to have an excuse to come to this beach.
Thanks, Robmc.

Reasonably quiet day on the beach, only a couple of muggles. Despite this, no luck in locating. Wasn't sure which landing - maybe the GPS was playing up. Will have to visit again. The kids loved the beach though, and watched the boardriders for a while. Magnificent sunny day. TFTC.
Always wanted to come here and finally have, a great beach but the surfs not like the 50 year storm, great cache placement not to many muggles about today thanks.....Utah get me 2
Bells Beach has a lot of history in Australia, it's great to finally visit this place. It was rather quiet around today so we had plenty of time to look for the cache and take some great pictures. Nice hide, and great cache, very dry.

Found by Mary & David at 0935, in company with pprass and Phetlern. Our first for the day when we planned to complete the caches on offer along this stretch of the coast. The surf was non-existent, and the only people in the water were a couple of skindivers in wetsuits and orange buoys. We spread out on the likely landings, and Phetlern quickly located the cache. Our thanks to Mr Emu.
Found at 9.30am GAFF5 in the company of maccamob and Phetlern.
Our first cache for this weekend and it was quite a cool morning with no-one surfing, although later on we did spot a couple of skin divers out there. We descended the board walk and after a few moments an energetic Phetlern had the cache in hand.
This is the frist time we have actually been to Bells Beach and it was flat as a tack!
Thanks Mr Emu - we may not have looked so hard if you hadn't checked it out last week.

A quick trip to Bell's on dusk to check the status of this cache after a couple of DNFs...
No problems here - it's still sitting exactly where it should be. If we'd waited, we might have saved ourselves a trip - the logbook indicated a visit earlier the same day!
NOTE: The hint is very specific about how to find this cache. Take a look at the satellite image on Google maps to locate the correct landing, and it should be easy. Just remember to have a "lookout" on guard for muggles, and remember where you found the cache, so that it can be returned to the same place easily.

JO08 and Mr O were absolutely sure they were in the right place - and we didn't have the usual muggle problems to go with it. Gave up after about five minutes doing what the hint said to do. Maybe it's hidden much better than we thought, or maybe it's missing. Hopefully we're just blind!
Had to make this a quick visit in fading light. Had little time as we had to get to Melbourne by 6. (Got there at 6:15!) Not sure if I was sitting at the right level. Thanks for the visit and opportunity to get some good photos.

Silly me didn't read the warning about Easter at Bells Beach. Naive me thought if I get up at 5am there will be nobody around! How wrong I was.
Fortunately people were only just arriving and I was able to use my camera to look like I had a legitimate reason to be there. With a break in traffic and a good hint the cache was grabbed, logged and returned in record time. Gotta love that.
Anyway, the water was beautiful this morning with the sun rising and the clouds threatening, so I've included the photo I took.

Another of CSJ's old surf haunts. I snagged this one while he grabbed his board and headed for the water. I read the hint and very confidently began to paw around near the coordinates. After getting a couple splinters in my fingers but no cache, I decided to use my brain and figure out exactly WHERE to paw, based on the fact that very few spots of the staircase are not visible from some angle or other. Happily, this plan worked. TFTH!

Found this one while on our assault of the E.M.U. caches with VKC1SR and Suitman at 15.15 on a very windy day but the surf was up this afternoon. We called in this morning but there were thousands of muggles everywhere so we gave it a miss and continued to find the E.M.U. series. On our way home we decided to have another attempt and this time we were successful and with our numbers a find was possible. I had lost a pen earlier and there was one under the cache but left it there. The Red Ant is in another Mr Emu cache and this was the tenth for the day. NI-NO and thanks again to Mr Emu for another cache in a great location.
An ordinary day didnt stop the surfers but slowed down the spectators enough for us to find the cache. TFTC
Mr Emu & Demon Boy braved the strong headwind and rode along the track from Jan Juc to Bell's Beach this afternoon. Knowing of the recent DNF, we rode our bikes to the top of the steps at Winkie, and a quick check confirmed that the cache was still in place.
Demon Boy was not so impressed with riding back up the steep concrete path to the carpark, but we both made it! Phew.

Had spent a few hours on the beach with the Geonephews at nearby Jan Juc and decided to do a quick cache before heading home. The boys ran up and down the stairs, and there were Muggles everywhere but we managed to retrieve the cache without being seen. Thanks Mr. Emu for a great hide! TNLN.
