Very beautiful walk although the kids thought the path itself was too easy Found a few caches along the way but also a few DNFs. We tried our best
Saw a few seals at the colony, cool to view them from a distance without disturbing them.
Saw a few seals at the colony, cool to view them from a distance without disturbing them.
Sadly we were reluctant to give this one a go with all the DNF's on it. Our time was limited so we had to keep moving on and couldn't give it a go. Shame, as I love a good multi.
Visited the 2 Waypoints to get the info. Then once at final had a good look around but could find nothing.
Coast holiday with friends after New Year. Wandering around Westport. Pretty sure we got the right numbers and found a classic spot where I'd hide a cache - but nothing. Even got caught by another cacher out for a wander. Enjoyed the view nonetheless and will try again another time.
Solved during out last visit here and came back to look for it. Great spots to make for a good hide but didn't find it. Looked on the 31st during an evening walk and again in the 1st at an early morning new years run. I hope I have the correct answers, hint made sense, but no find for me.
Completing the Cape Foulwind Walkway for Easter and picking up a few caches along the way.
A quick find after finding all the coordinates and waiting for muggles to leave at GZ.

Nice hide and found between rain and drizzle showers for Another! day.
I'd done most of the others in October and usually ignore multis, but while staying nearby in the rain I worked it out so came back today for a short walk to the site.

We walked from Tauranga Bay to the lighthouse and back so did the multi waypoints in reverse. Luckily no muggles were around at final and I could make a speedy find. Tftc, great walk!
A great morning walk along the coast. It was beautiful and sunny and people did not start arriving until I was on my way back. This meant that I had free range while searching and managed to locate all caches along the way. Thanks for making the walk even more awesome! Great views from the final location. TFTC!!
Had trouble finding the answer to Q3 but thought it could only be one thing (which is was, phew). Such a beautiful day to do the walk, kids loved it. TFTC
Today we headed to Cape Foulwind and had a wonderful time here. A lovely track above the coast line, a fine old Lighthouse and several caches to find. Makes a great day
We skipped the first cache at the parking lot, went straight ahead towards the Lighthouse. Some pictures later we finally set of to the track and later we visited the final as well.
Interesting information about old times here at the Cape.
Thank you for the cache!

Today, our journey brings us to Punakaiki.
On the way, we stopped to see the lighthouse, the seals and then the cavern and Punakaiki rocks.

Out today clearing off a few caches we missed last time. Spent minutes grabbing all the necessary info. Then at the final we waited for at least half an hour for all the muggles to disperse. I didn't know strangers could chat that long.

30 December 2019 12:08. Tftc. This took me way too long as i couldn't read or subtract!
Eventually located by trial and error plus sheer bloody mindedness! Looks as if I am not the first to employ this strategy. Cache in good condition, now onto the next on this walk...

Found on the first pass, in between groups of strollers. Interesting information! TFTC
Quick and funny multi. Took way more than one hour for us, not because of the multi, but we walked to the seals in between. TFTC
A windy wet day here at the lighthouse and after seeing the seals and collecting the nesessary information we headed to the gz to watch a selfie family take photos. then delete them then take more then delete them over and over for ten minutes and just as we were about to leave they packed up there selfie sticks and vanished. The cache was broken and wet but the log was good. Thanks for the multi!
Found After a Short walk up to the lighthouse. After the Found I went to see the seals.

We have just finished the Cape Foulwind walkway and walked to Gibsons Beach. But now its time to sort out this Lighthouse Multi which confused me hiding under The Cape. Captured the data at the infoboards to have to return back up the walkway towards the lighthouse. Spotted the foundations for the original lighthouse to return down the path to snag this one. Sign was missing for clue C but we fudged it to get to GZ. Lid cracked here and cache very wet. Added a film canister and new RITR log to keep this one rolling along. Cheers.
Its Cape Faoulwind Walkway this morning - something I have been wanting to do..
Its off on another geotour this weekend with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby. We spent last Sunday in Nelson collecting the gemstones from the Museum Heist, so this weekend we are on a Geotour to the Westcoast with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, to return the gems. Saturday we visited Denniston, Kawatiri River Trail and Tauranga Bay. The gems have been successfully returned to the Museum. So lets see what else we can find while here. Today its Cape Foulwind Walkway. So lets go!

Nice we multi ..enjoyed the solve and walk to way points..nice easy find ..thanks BK &J
lots of fun but an easy find in the end, busy little track with lots of tourists
We were here this time last year and did the walk from the other end. Then walked back. Then drove to this side but were too tired to do the multi. This time we approached from this side and soon had the important info and hence the cache. Thanks for the multi BK&J

We collected the information from the waypoints as we began our walk and the calculated coordinates looked good for a find on our return. We ended up following a slow group ass we were back near GZ - and opted to go slowly ourselves rather than pass them in case we took time to find the cache. As it was, it was a quick find so we could have sped up. A nice way to highlight the informative plaques.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Some caches along the Cape Foulwind Walkway! Very nice walk with spectacular views on the West Coast: the untamed natural wilderness! Also saw quite a lot of wekas, the thieves of quite some disappeared caches here!

Tregearp and I stopped here on ou way North and took a short walk for a couple of traditionals and solving this Multi. Straight forward and enjoyed the walk on a stunning calm and warm West Coast day. Final turned out to be a bit challenging as whilst signing the log a tourist decided it was a good lunch spot and occupied the nearby rock as a good place to enjoy the view and start her lunch. Luckily there were two of us - one engaged in conversation and provided a screen for replacement of the log (whilst repacking the pack of course).
Thanks BK&J for the cache in a great location.

No foulwind today and a lovely view out to the horizon and up and down the coast. A quick visit with SJT_NZ on our way to Granity.
Ein toller Walk, bei dem wir uns in dieses Logbuch eingetragen haben. T4TC from Germany
Love lighthouses so had to stop and grab this one. Gathered the info & headed off to make an easy find at GZ. TFTC
No foul winds today which meant the rain came down vertically rather than horizontally! However we put on our waterproofs and walked to see the lighthouse. No problems getting the information needed and subsequently finding the cache which we protected when signing the log to keep it dry.
We had best weather and so we enjoyed the short walk to the lighthouse. Answering the questions was no problem and after a bit searching we found the cache! Thanks for this nice little multicache! Greetings from Germany, GolmarKlonk
Having just spent 5 days walking The Old Ghost Road (& one very comfortable night at the Rough and Tumble Lodge) we somehow had the energy to cache our way home.
We found 18 and had one DNF, and then wilted and stayed the night in Reefton rather than continuing to Christchurch.
I'm afraid I'm going to continue the cut and paste logs, but at least the weather improved so we could actually open containers without them filling with water (all logs signed ). Speaking of which; we signed the logs BRN (Bo&bronnie, Rincewind3, and Not Manly Jack) to save time and space in the log books.
A nice short multi in an area Not Manly Jack and I have never been to. I did the homework will NMJ and Bo continued ahead to the lighthouse, then caught them up. We then went to find the cache. It was an easy find in the second spot I looked. The log is fine, surprisingly, given the cracked lid.
We didn't carry on to the seal colony this time, we'll just have to come back.

Found this Geocache during our walk along the Cape Foulwind. Nice views of the coastal landscape and waves. We saw a lot of seals. TFTC !
A nice and quick find after gathering the required info. Almost gave this a miss as I had plenty of walking yesterday, but reason prevailed. Cheers.
Today we pottered around Westport, geting some of the nearby caches. Then off to Hokitika for the night. Great weather and a lovely drive.
Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

Out and about with muggle sister and as there was a gap in the drizzle we got to walk around here and enjoy the sea views and brisk wind. Nice multi thanks
Sorted the required information and then it was a quick find at GZ. Interesting information on the noticeboard about the area. Fabulous views. Signing logs with our names or initials depending on space. Out caching with Will of the Wisp on our “round the world in 80 days” trip to celebrate retirement. Greetings from England, TFTC.

Soon had the numbers worked out and headed for GZ. Had to wait for some muggles to wander past - they were carrying a surf board and bare feet - obviously not in the area for the same reason as us. A nice quick find was made and once the log was signed it was returned as we found it. Thanks BK&J for the cache
Found with VikingNav today while exploring the area after checking into out hotel in Westport. Thanks for the fun cache!
Traveling from Greymouth to Westport, stopping for caches and to see the country side. A great sunny day for caching. Stopped to take a walk to the light house, so decided to do this multi at the same time. Everything worked and we made a quick find. TFTC
It has been a very wet day but luckily as we arrived here the rain stopped-if briefly which gave us the opportunity to gather the necessary information and find the cache. We had reasonable views but no seals that we could spot. Thanks.
I decided to have a walk along the Cape Foulwind Walkway early this morning before it was inundated with tourists. My plan worked. Met all the tourists after finding all the caches.
After getting all the info I decided to get the final after I had walked the track and was on my way back to the carpark.
Cheers for the cache.

Grabbed the required information as we started the walkway but didn't grab the cache until the return trip. Just before GZ there was a nice rock lookout and a muggle positioned himself up there. The cache was grabbed when he turned his back for a moment, but we had all sorts of problems trying to re hide it. A couple of muggles came up from the carpark and stood at the GZ lookout for a while. They then wandered up the track a bit and stood a while longer. Once they finally moved away, the first muggle came down from his perch and stood nearby. As we still showed no sign of moving he eventually headed off to the carpark and we could finally replace the cache. tftc
Got the numbers and had a quick find before doing the rest of the walkway. Thanks for the cache BK&J

That was a quick multi, but we made it a long walk by exploring the cape a bit more. TFTC
Did this the opposite way around, since we were walking through from the south. First the lighthouse, then the carpark sign, then... it did take us under an hour, even in the hot sun. Enjoy having a multi making the most of the area's history, thank you BK&J.
We should have done part one when dropping off the shuttle car. We didn't have to do much backtracking to complete this one. Thanks.

We free camped at Kawatiri Beach Reserve last night and this morning took the drive up the coast as far north as we could get On our return to Westport this evening we took the detour out to Cape Foulwind (just because I liked the name ) and grabbed the two caches here.
It was interesting reading the information signs at the carpark, and we noted what we needed, then headed up to WP2. No problem finding what we needed here, and we crunched the numbers for GZ. Then it was up to the top for the view and to check out the lighthouse, before going to GZ where we made a quick find. A neat job! TFTC, BK&J.

Found with NZDi. We had been intending to do a trip to the Coast after a workmate and fellow geocacher came back from a Christmas camping holiday and dropped a map of walks around Westport on my desk. On comparing the walk and geocaching maps, it was apparent to see there was plenty of scope for a geocaching holiday or three to the coast. The only thing we needed to ensure ws that the weather played the game, unlike when my workmate had her Christmas break there. Knowing that we had the weekend free this weekend I kept an eye on the forecast for the coast and it was looking pretty good, so a motel was booked and a rudimentary and flexible geocaching plan was hatched.
The idea was to head to the Coast early on Friday morning picking up no more than half a dozen caches along the way. We limited ourselves to this as we know from previous experience that it can take over six hours to do an hour and a quarter trip if you are geocaching as well.. Once we got to the coast, we were going to do the Cape Foulwind walk, then cache as much as we could from there back to town. We then intended to do as much of the K.R.T caches before retiring for the night and in the morning do the Charming Creek Walk before heading back home again picking up the odd cache along the way. In the end it was mission achieved with 74 finds over two days and only one DNF along the way.
After our trip from Blenheim, severely limiting the amount of caches we grabbed along the way, we arrived at the carpark around 10am. After getting changed into more appropriate caching attire we walked the track to Tauranga Bay picking up all the caches in order apart from the nearby multi.
After getting the numbers at the first waypoint we made our way to the second and got those as well. Working out the we would have to back track for the final, we decided to get it on the way back as we were doing the return journey. Once we got to the Tauranga Bay carpark, we power walked our way back to the start in 50 minutes. Its amazing how fast you can go if you're not caching or sight-seeing along the way.

On West Coast travels for a wee family holiday. Staying in Westport. Came out in the late afternoon to find a seal or two...and not disappointed plenty of seals to be seen. I approached this from the fair end having walked from the seal colony, Mrs TG and the boys driving back around to meet me at the lighthouse as I walked the track....so I hit WP2 first. Cool history. Not wanting to backtrack I used this alone to calculate ~GZ ...and good enough to make the find and sign, bazinga. After signing I bumped into Mrs Tg and the boys walking in to met me. Yahoo. Cool series along the walkway...and nice to finish with a multi. Cheers.

Quick multi, nice place, found on our trip around New Zealand, greetings from Switzerland.
On our way south the west coast we took a rest at Cape Foulwind.
We had a great view in the evening and took some photos.
My wife said: it couldn´t be there is no Cache!
And suddenly she took a small box out of its hidden place.
So this one was a luckyfound for us.
What a joy!
Thank you very much and many greetings from Germany, dopsi5

Sunshine when we woke up, rain when we left our accommodation but we decided to visit the lighthouse anyway. When we parked the car and walked up the path the clouds broke and the sun started to shine making it more enjoyable to make notes. Couldn't find C but logic is enough to find that one. The calculated coordinates placed us at a spot where the hint made sense and a moment later we had the cache in hands.
