TwigNZ and I headed to Paraparaumu for an event, but we were early (which of course was his plan) so we collected a few caches along the way. Part of which was walking up this track to get Welcome to the Jungle. I have all the archived caches on my phone so we stopped here to collect this along the way. Well, I stopped, as TwigNZ had already found this, although he could not remember where it was.Fairly straightforward find, but it did take some close looking as the cache had a very thorough covering of cobwebs. Sorry guys.Anyway, log signed, then cache removed per the owner's request.
Had a quick hunt but came up empty. Will need to return when we have more time. The GPS went wonky under the trees which didn’t help things.
GPS was all over the place. Thanks to previous geocacher's comments we were able to locate fairly easily. Signed log and replaced where found. Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful place. Kereru were eating the fruit of the Nikau trees which were in abundance. TFTC
Was looking in the wrong spot just a bit further in to no avail. Turned to leave and spotted the double bottle on the ground. Planted back and fairly certain this is the correct nest. Heard the rooster others have mentioned but didn’t see him. Thanks for a neat find!
Risked an attack from the roosters and found it . And made it to the lookout with the 3 geokids, TFTC!
Found it!
A quick find. Hazardous chickens in attendance... cache nice and dry - double bottles are great.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Finally! After abandoning hope years ago we found it. On opposite side of track where we thought.
This was a walkby rather than a driveby as I walked up after completing the Heritage Trail Whereigo. I was relieved to find that there is a reasonably safe walking route from Paraparaumu itself.
GPS was jumping all over the place under the trees so I was scratching my head over the numerous possibilities, especially as some of the area looked like a bomb dropped on it with dead vegetation everywhere, it seems some clearing by natural or human means has been going on. Suddenly something caught my eye and I realised it was straightforward. Was able to retrieve without disturbing any spiders who might be present.
Was running out of time before I had to head back to town so decided to leave the companion cache for another time, I look forward to exploring this reserve which I have not visited before.

Today is the 13th day of our journey to the south island. After spending a quiet night at the Waikanae River Mouth campsite we started the day with a morning walk up this hill to the lookout after enjoying a nice breakfast at the river. After we enjoyed the view from the top we went back down to locate the path to the cache up the hill which we followed back down to the carpark. Once back at the carpark i made my way to GZ but it took me a bit longer than it should have to find this one before we continued our drive heading south. Tftc.
Took a minute to locate it, but some hints from previous cachers made it easier to find the container! TFTC!
Found on the way into paraparaumu. A very nice spot but there is clearly a kennels nearby.
As I drove past here on the way to Nikau Valley I thought "isn't there a cache here somewhere?". When I later checked and found there was I made sure to stop here on the way back before continuing south. This had the potential to be a tricky find but it only took a short scan to spot something that suggested a cache hide and there it was. This was very much the driveby that the cache name suggested. Thanks for placing here.
Heading to the shops this afternoon and thought about doing a cache along the way. We will have to come back another day to do the walk. TFTC.
It’s Day 2 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are on their way to Wellington.
We'd organised to spend last night in Waikanae - TNXPros old stomping ground and me being the kind, selfless friend that I am - have made myself available to accompany TNXPro on a maintenance run of his caches.
This was one of the few caches TNX pointed out he'd like to get and I was only to happy for the numbers. GPS took me straight to the cache but I gave it a minute as I knew TNX was keen to notch this one up. He saw straight through me though and that was the end of that. Cheers Yeetrees, TFTC

I have looked for this many times now. While I was living in Kapiti, I just couldnt seen to get the GPS to settle to get me anywhere near GZ.
While I had Philip. Perry with me on the way to the Mega, I stopped in here again for another look and [dammit], he had it in his hands within seconds.
I hate it when that happens.
Anyway, good to finally turn an unsmiley face into a smiley face.

On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for.
This was our last cache for the day. We tried for one further up the hill but kept choosing the wrong paths. Now it's time to get moving. We're due at my cousins at 7pm and I think we'll be a tad late. I love Nikau palms. Thanks for an easy find here
A beautiful looking reserve, will have to return another day to explore and do the puzzles. For now just had to fight off several large spiders to sign this one. All safe and dry here. TFTC
Lovely area! I was a gentleman and held the light for D so she could extract the cache without disturbing the resident of the huge (prob tunnelweb) cobweb. Thanks Yeetrees
I looked in the cache hiding place, but obviously not hard enough as barefootguru found it in there a minute later! He 'generously' let me gingerly retrieve the cache, after I'd vigorously poked about with a stick to dislodge any angry local spiders. All fine inside.
TFTC Yeetrees!

My son and I were in Waikanae today to clear up the last few remaining caches from the lower section of the Hemi Matenga Reserve series of caches which we had mostly completed back in February. Whilst we were done in this neck of the woods I intended to take the opportunity to pop into the Mitre10 Mega in Paraparaumu for some pellet fuel, so figured I would try to grab a few caches along the way to really maximise my afternoon.
Once I had parked up here, my GPS initially had us looking in the wrong section of bush for this one, but once I realised we were being led astray I had another go and soon found the nicely hidden container. A careful extraction and examination of the logsheet made me realise that we weren't the first to find this one today.
Everything was fine with the cache, so after quickly signing the log on behalf of my son and I (he was on Muggle lookout duty!) everything was replaced exactly as found and then we were back on our way to the next one.
Thanks for giving us the excuse to come and explore this interesting location.

son found a nest with little blue eggs (broken) in it while searching for the cache, we searched for a while then were happy to find it, unfortunately a pretty area has been used as a dumping spot for old televisions
What a stunning surprise when leaving the car park and entering the bush! Felt like a tropical wonderland. Nice quick find for this one. Now to head up the frack
Great little park n grab. Picked up while out with Nz1. Good coords and hint.

Too hot for the long walk to the lookout, so we opted for the short loop and the cache
A nice P&G cache, where we parkee right next to it. ReCached and I didn't feel like going to the viewpoint, but we did the short five minute walk. TFTC Yeetrees!

Quick park and grab on way home our departure was delayed as we spent several minutes watching kereru TFTC
Just time for a quick drive-by on my way home. It's a lovely spot here so I've earmarked it for a longer visit at some point. No birdsong today, though: it was all drowned out by the incessant barking from the nearby kennels.

Went for a Sunday walk up Nikau reserve, listening to the raindrops on the canopy. The smell of nature beautiful on a day like this. Thanks for the cache. Well hidden under some cobwebs.
Up in Kapiti today. A break in the weather at lunch time so a quick nip off and grab a cache. Quick find and replace. Thanks for the cache.
You will see it on the right side of the path in a tree that has a cove in it! Be carful spiders
Just before we Start our way up the Hill we went for this Cache. Thx and greets from germany.
Had to hunt around for a while and eventually the other half (krusty70) found it. I was looking on the wrong side of the path! Very clever!
Four years ago, I came here and flailed around for about 10 mins before giving up. Today, it practically waved at me. That's Geocaching for you! As we walked up and back from the twin towers geocache, I'm claiming 1301m towards the distance to the DGSC challenge, as that's the distance between them. TFTC.
Searched high and low for this one, but unfortunately we were not aided by a failing battery and failing sunlight.
Will have to return another time.

Mr CD found this quite quickly although the co ords led us to the other side of the track I was still looking until he called to say he'd found it. TFTC

Nice easy find once the muggles parked near by adn watching moved off. Was were we thought it would be while waiting for the all clear. TFTC
After 2 or 3 unsuccessful attempts over a number of years was surprised that this time the coords took us quite a way from where we'd looked before. This time we were spot on & cache found in minutes. TFTC.
Took a bit of poking around in the near dark, but a good find. Thanks. In good condition. Nice area
Cache # 2,622 - Thought about doing this one months ago, but was mis-reading the description to indicate a 2KM walk to the cache. Re-read it recently and looked at the name, and thought it might be a quick one tonight to keep my streak going. It was, fast find, cache in great shape. Very, very dark in the walking trail after the sun has gone down - good thing I had my torch. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Nice quick walk for dobby who is at work with me today and needed a wee stop. Find was quick and in perfect order. Tftctnlnsl
Heading south, had stopped at Barista Boys for my favourite coffee then on here to stop, stretch the legs, make some calls and clear the emails.
While stopped, figured there has to be a cache here so out with the GPSr and there you go, a cache 20 odd metres away.
Coords took me to within a metre then it was a quick find from there, log signed and returned.
Interesting to see there is a time capsule here too - TFTC.

Last one for the day! Find number 30/30 on a road trip with team Skaga that took us to Bulls and back.
This was a nice quick find before we had a wander up the track to check out the nearby puzzle cache. We ran out of time for that one though. A pretty little reserve.

#1709 Out on a trip to Bulls and back for the day with Nic-Jay and both members of Skaga today to pick up a few caches. Nice easy find and an excuse for a little reconnaissance for the next trip out these ways. Didn't have time to find the puzzle but look forward to returning to this reserve- beautiful!! TFTC!
I did a nice little hike in a quite little park.
Thank you for showing this spot to me and for hiding a cache.

Thanks for an easier one - I saved it 'til after attempting the puzzle that looked nearby - 40mins later I had Branched Out from the very scenic Lookout and solved the Nikau puzzle on the way back down…
The Nikau palms were beautiful - so prolific it was like being on a tropical island… Thanks for enticing me onto a walk like that!
