8.1 World travelers adventure log.Out and about exploring the world with Nildran on this epic adventure! Thanks for adding to our memories and letting us explore your favorite spots all over the world! It continues to be a wild ride!TFTC SL If you find yourself at a local pub during trivia night, and the category is:'States shaped like a Mitten'here is some information that may help you win that round:Michigan trivia 8.19. Your Hand's Practically A Map Of Your New Home StateIts pretty easy to travel around Michigan when you think about it. The "thumb" is the east side, Detroit sits south, and the fingers up top are where Traverse City and Mackinac Island point UP. Makes sense, right? (The UP sort of looks like a bird trying to fly away).10. Rainfall Smells Like Rotten BeerSeriously, thats what itll remind you of. Some say it's the sign of one of Michigan's freakish thunderstorms. Others think it just smells. When the rain falls and the clouds get a little thicker, you'll smell it, too.11. How to Spot Your Car Under Eight Feet of SnowYou will develop your own internal radar for your car, guaranteed. When that lake effect snow piles on youll come to know which hill is actually your vehicle. It's kind of like Michigan magic.12. Venison Is the Best Meat You'll Ever TasteDeer season is big in Michigan, so don't be surprised if you start getting a hankering for good ol' fashioned venison. If youve never had it, youll get hooked fast.13. "Mackinac" and "Mackinaw Actually Sound the SameSome say "Mack-in-ack," and others say "Mack-in-awe." In reality the only "Mackinac" is the Mackinac Bridge, which many call the "Big Mac. Mackinac Island, Fort Mackinac, Mackinac Straits, and Mackinaw City, however, are all pronounced with an "awe" at the end. Arent you glad I told you?14. It'll Take Several Years To Learn To Play EuchreThis game might just be better than poker. At first you'll think you're on a different planet as you sit with Michiganders for a friendly game of Euchre, but give yourself a few years and you just might get the gist of at least a bit of this game.15. The S.S. Badger Isn't Just a Transport Across Lake MichiganIf you just want a quick ride across the lake, take Muskegon's Lake Express. If you want an adventure, that's what Ludington's S.S. Badger is for. There's a movie theater, a small casino, a bar, and satellite television.
320. Loved the hint and a large cache full of goodies. I left a fishy and a get away car because the dolls need a pet and they obviously listen to Tay Tay. Enchanting forest walk, thank you
Visiting from Washington state in the US. Having a lovely time here in Nelson. Originally, we flew into Wellington. Took the ferry over to Picton. Then drove from Picton through Havelock to Nelson. We hosted an event here in Nelson on Monday and were able to meet several nice cachers. Good fun.I was headed up to the Center of New Zealand cache and decided to try my hand at this one. My iPhone GPS was off quite a bit, so that made it tough. However the hint enabled me to make the find. Thanks for the hide.
Had aspirations of collecting a few caches on the walk up the hill. This was the first stop and had assistance from local muggles that knew all about caching. It was good to have a chat on my lone walk. Hint helped a lot with the phone GPS jumping a lot around. TFTC BuzzTasman.
Walking up the hill towards our destination we followed the arrow and a quick find. TFTC
In Nelson for a week of caching.A quick side trip while walking up the hill. I finally got My first grandchild last year. Very precious....
Found this while walking up the hill to the Monument....
Net61 went under to locate and passed it to me for signing!
I am from down here from Auckland, and have placed 10 Geocaches over the years to celebrate them too!

Day 3 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.
Last night we had planned out our day to start near the top of Boulder Bank and work our way back towards Nelson. The only problem was the sudden publication of 4 new Caches, and what with New Zealand's foremost FTF addict amongst our number, we had a bit of a debate as to whether we would stick with Plan A or switch to a mad-dash Plan B. Plan A won out so here we are.
It's been a long time since I had made the effort to get to the geographical centre of NZ. My son wasn't even born back then! But of course now I had the added incentive of finding some geocaches to entice me.
This would be our first stop up the hill, and a quick find at GZ. No issues to report with this one, so once we had signed the log the whole thing was replaced as found.
Thanks for setting this one up.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.
Day three, and another fifty plus day had us focusing around Nelson town, starting at the northern end and working our way south.
Included in that was a compulsary trip up the hill to the centre of New Zealand. I am a bit slow on theuphills, and by the time I made it here the cache had already been found.
---
Thanks to BuzzTasman for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

(# 7900) A caching trip to Nelson with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Day 3 of a 4 day trip interspersed with exploring and humour. A quick find.
The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ. Thanks for bringing me here.

General:
Finally both Dutch Kiwis had a few hours together without kids, which had been a long time ago. What better way to spend the day than go out on a joint geocaching adventure! Great weather, nice tracks and 0 DNF's, which is a first on a longer cache day in NZ . Thanks to all CO's for the placement & maintenance!
Specific:
This one was an easy find in an obvious hiding spot, tftc!

A quick and easy find for Mr Bb on his way up to the Centre of New Zealand.
Signed the log and carefully replaced the cache as found.

Love the clue - saved us from fossiking in the water feature which would have been my first guess
On a little hike we reached this place, found the box, signed the logbook and put some TBs in the cache.

My plans changed today due to trails and roads being closed, but I was still able to get to this cx. TFTC.
#4 find for us today. I’d flagged this cache as one to do with the youngest one in tow. A quick look at the clue & Miss12 knew instinctively where to go. We got sprung by a passing muggle (with nowhere to hide) and must have looked very suss…lol. Gotta love a themed cache…deserving of a FP ️TFTC.
Accidental find while trying to find part of the adventure cache. Nice wee spot. Tftc
A quick dash up to this one while the boys and their dad played at the swings. Last cache (#5) for the morning. No problems here. TFTC
Good spot. The activity info wasn't available but the spot felt right and after a bit of muggle avoidance and snooping the kids found it. Having the little ones paid off for this one.
TFTC. Just completed the Abel Tasman with family and stopped in here for a stroll. Lovely walk here
Found with Ricardinho
A great walk from the Botanics, up over the hill past the Centre of NZ, down into Branford Park in the Maitai Walked some side tracks I've never done before
Women's Summer Challenge event was on today & we spotted a few of the direction markers & stopping points

First find of the day, pretty simple with the hint and all good here. TFTC BuzzTasman.
Today RG1972 and I went for a walk around the centre of NZ, without actually going to it. Were able to stretch the legs on some of these side tracks and pick up a few caches on the way. Also got a few pathtags, all but one for swaps. But a nice day, good exercise, and all caches in good shape. Thanks all.

Dropped in 3 TBs - these were trackables I was given to pass on.....please don’t leave hidden away like they have been for ages.
Having walked this part of the track before. One of those Geos where the trees play with the coordinations. Paper damp but manage to write on it
TFTC. A nice walk up the hill and the cache took me on a new path. We always like to walk up here anytime we are in Nelson
Got to love a nice hill climb. The troll has let the mould in, log and dollies are showing the moist effects of winter. Signed and got our smiles tftc.
Out with Missnboyz today and she always brings me uphill - always! haha Nice cache here and good theme items inside. It does need a little TLC as very soggy. TFTC
A beautiful day and a nice walk (between exercises and supermarket) and a cache. And it would be better to give all the muddy stuff from the box away. TFTC

Nice find after wandering up the hill. Unfortunately contents were wet and I was unable to sign the book. Have taken a photo of the cache instead. Tftc

Found during visit of Nelson and cetre of NZ. Quite lot of sandflies here. The cache is wet inside, it would need some maintenance. Anyway, thank you for the cache.
First time up this way as I was looking for the final of a multi - which I didn't find. So I was happy to make this one the first find of the day.
Some dolls are a bit mouldy but a nice idea for kids.
Thanks for a bigger cache and for a smile. This way up feels steeper, but I enjoyed the views.

I was in Nelson today on an exploratory tour, a beautiful town.
I was again lured to great viewpoints and I was told the history of this town.
I walked almost 20 km through Nelson and could find many hidden cans.
This one was also there and I registered in the LB.
Thanks to all owners for this wonderful day.
Many greetings from Cologne.

Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, now WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
The path is closed heading towards the kauri but the track with the cache is available for walking now. Found this cache easily as the hint item was obvious although the GPS wasn't sure what direction to go. Thanks for the cache.
Not a DNF but we did not get near the cache as the track leading to it is closed at both ends for maintenance. So i did not want to jump the fence to go check on it. So just a heads up for anyone looking to find it in the next week or longer.
What a great spot. Cache was out in the open, possibly due to rain ! Grabbed the Tb and completed my mission for the day. Tftc
Found while strolling around this attractive park. A straight forward find and a good sized container too! Thanks CO.
