Decided to give this one a go, even though it was marked as unavailable. Found the ‘cache’ easily enough, well, what was left of it… (A classic Philma logbook!). Well, a logbook alone just would not do, so I found a container in the car (strepsils tube), and placed the log it in that. (Signed it first of course). Placed tube in the back of the hole, and put a rock in front of it… Good to go again! (But BYO pen) Found with BBBB and SQau – thanks Philma! Interesting location!
There were about 30 people around GZ when we arrived - all part of a group that was learning to dive. They had set up for what appeared to be a long stay and we had to keep heading home, so logging a DNF.
Perhaps next time. Its a beautiful area!

Lots of old jetty piers here for the kids to climb on. Lots and lots of people about fishing. Easy enough to get this with out being spotted.
Easy enough find by geoboy Hugh (5) while the rest of the kids swarmed over the structure. Log was soaked so embossed rather than signed. This location definitely needs a better container. Great history lesson though. Thanks. I almost missed logging this one as I forgot to mark it as found in my GPS.
Second one for the day. Kids found it without too much trouble although we had to be careful as there was a lot of muggle activity. When we got home my mother fished out a book called "They came to Murramarang" by BV Hamon which has a detailed history of the area, very interesting.
What a great wharf.
The temptation to jump off into the water was kept under control by the HUGE stingray cruising along the shore edge. It was bigger than our dining room table and certainly a lot faster (though not as many legs).
The water was so clear the view from above meant that I could see a remora suckered to it's side. That was something you don't find at a cache every day.
Great hide, though...
Oh dear, another wet log book on our wet cache trip.

The log is saturated sorry did not have anything to replace it with will need drying or replacing
I found it but empty no log book, on top where it suppose to be. I left the cache hidden in the right place, I think.
Have watched the kids jumping of the jetty many times & wondered why the jetty was here
Thanks for the history lesson

Thanks for a different holiday activity. I been coming to Bawley Point for 13 years every January. It was in the first placed I looked, but I didn't see it at first time. I only found a pencil and pad.

Found easily whilst watching swimmers jump off the wharf into a pool of rays and jellyfish. Wouldn't get me in there in a pink fit as we had seen some sharks there earlier in the morning. Fishing was good here, GeoTeen and his mates managed to snag four ocean salmon and a few flatties....and I snagged a cache so all in all it was a great day out. TFTC and the history of the site, it's just a pity that there wasn't any official signage with photos there - that would have been awesome!
Visited with Wahly from the USA. Easy find. Great to see it in situ after our visit last year when it had been stolen. Beautiful area. TFTC.
Interesting history about this spot, thanks for the information. Found the cache and took a few pics while we were there. Nice quiet spot, just a few muggles fishing,
Reperio at 1355. Off on a short detour to Jervis bay today, and whilst the last few meters were a bit rocky for a 2WD, managed to park next to GZ. There were a couple of muggles around, but with the cover of the old foundations, the cache was quickly found and signed without any notice.
Nice research and photos.
Gratias philma.

Ducked off to find this one while some of my friends went swimming in the freezing cold water during a weekend coast trip. TFTC
What a beautiful spot on the South Coast. Thanks for including the history of the area. TFTC
After parking and walking to GZ had a car full of fishermen and dogs arrive. Some of the dogs came over to sniff me out but fishing muggles were no problem.
An easy find. Thanks for the history.

Gizmo playing up again, kept telling me and the little blue martians to go swimming - decided instead to check the logical location and came up with the goods. TNLN SL TFTC
Great beach. Fisherman was present but didn't seem to pay any mind to Mr and Mrs Gaztek and myself. The history of the area is amazing. TFTC
Another Philma cache with some interesting local history. We found this cache a little way off the coordinates. Knowing the reliability of Philma's work, we moved it to a location that matches the coordinates more closely. Not many muggles around today but did take photos of a pelican waiting for a fisherman to catch lunch for him. Water here was quite calm despite a big swell and very clear. SL TFTC Cheers......Gaztek
Cache was found exposed on the ground close to GZ. Intended hide not immediately apparent, so replaced nearby slightly more hidden from view, although still somewhat exposed to the elements. Probably needs to be relocated. TFTC
Found this one while out for a swim with the family. another good hide by Philma. tftc
The torrential rain stopped just in time to find this one. Great spot and history - thanks
Second visit for this one. Thanks for putting it back. A quick grab between fishers. Thanks.

Great location! Lots of people around due to fun of jumping off old wharf. Look for the friendly ray patrolling the waters of the bay.
Found with McPhan as we picked up about a dozen caches north of Bateman's Bay. We were worried about a couple of people parked in a nearby car, having a smoke, and hoped they were too interested in what we were doing. Happily I was able to locate, retrieve and replace out of view. Thanks Philma, I always like these historical spots.
2793. Took the wrong way in twice but other people were parked at the same spot so we weren't that obvious. Nice cache placement as Mrs W could make the retrieval out of view of the smokers in the vehicle in the correct passing spot. Nice spot, thanks for highlighting it and giving us some of the history.

Beautiful location, well worth a visit. Clear waters and a great family spot. Best phone reception at Bawley.

Took a walk with the clan from racecourse beach to the Bawley cafe. On the way we stopped at the old wharf to watch the fishing. As I looked around I realized that the wharf was an ideal spot for some hidden treasure. So without any technology found the cache tucked away nicely. Cheers Philma!
was actually using this headland to get internet connect, and was only parked only a handful of metres away. Knew it was here, but knew it was missing but noticed that philma had replaced it and found it without GPS with no problem at all. cheers, tftc. Dave - Team Rudiger "whoop, whoop, whoop"
I didn't have an internet connection so I didn't know that this had been archived.
An interesting area, it is not hard to see the layout with your images.
The place was a bit busy today, with two groups of divers from Canberra learning. It was crappy conditions, windy and dirty.
I had a quick look where I thought it might be while they were getting wet.
Thanks, Robmc.

Found it easily with GeoDaughter at 2pm.
Very interesting history of the local timber industry.
The cache contained Cacher's Evolution coin that I didn't seen in the log.
Left it as was not prepared for a trade.

FlyingPigSquadron has landed! Thanks for yet another history lesson and fantastic spot. We went down to the end to "discover" the trig point after and were rewarded with whales passing by and playing! TNLN TFTH&C Philma
On a weekend hiking trip with my son, we decided to nab a few caches. Thanks for the history lesson
Last one for the day after a big day of caching in and around Bateman's Bay. The nearby fires made for a spectacular sight near GZ. Found the cache quickly and headed home, only to be diverted inland due to the fires. Bushfires in August. Could be a bad summer! Thanks Philma.
Looks like this may of been Muggled, found the Metal face plate like "Merry" where it should of been but no Cache.

Arrived at GC with alibida33. Found hide, metal plate etc like other GC by philma. GC appears to be missing.
I arrived to find another caching party in place it this location. The news was not good. The mount for the cache was located successfully, buy no cache to be found. Thanks. Albida.
Grabbed in between spurts of rain. Log very wet. Gorgeous area, wouldn't have come here if it wasn't for geocaching.
I thought the rocks were so interesting on either side of the beach.

Although we had been to this area many times before the artifacts in this area had previously escaped our attention.
Log was a bit wet but a great hide in a historic location.

Nice Hide Philma. The history in this area is amazing & your caches here have just highlighted more of it to us than we knewbefore.
Thanks.

The second for a long weekend down the South Coast. Thanks again for all the history Philma, we will definately be back this way again soon to finish the history lesson we started.
I forgot to say that the log was quite damp, we aired it out for a bit but unfortunately the day wasn't the best for drying things out and we had to get moving.

The history lesson was intriguing, the location beautiful, the hide clever, and the surf huge. After finding the cache, we headed out to the point, to join the spectators watching a group of very brave surfers conquer the big swell. It was breaking right on to the rock shelf, and if they failed to catch the wave, disaster! Fortunately, the ones we watched were all able to catch a ride, and zipped safely along the point and back into deeper water. Thanks for bringing us here Philma

Found this one on the way home from a nice little short break down at Merry Beach.
Plenty of people around today- great spot with the view of the beach. Nice little spot to hide a cache too- thanks for a nice drive out here Philma.
As I arrived so did a group of students from Canberra who were here for three days of diving. Had a yarn to their teacher who explained that several ships had come to grief nearby & the wrecks made for an interesting dive. He was most impressed with my historical knowledge! Went & found the other caches then came back to find the students & their instructors bobbing about in the swell. Difficult to believe that ships could have gotten so close. There were some beautiful waves but no surfers about. There is ample evidence of the sawmilling activities, with the rusted winch & a restored wharf. So thanks again for the cache & another milestone in my caching career - three FTFs in a day.
