After attending an event and talking to some fellow cachers about this one , it was suggested that I , like others before me, should log this as a find, so thanks for the puzzle and thanks for the cache (I found most of it at GZ)
Damn, had this in my solved puzzles for a long time , and now at gz and funding the outer cache , but no inner cache, reloaded the page and aggggh its been archived , thanks for the detour though
And so this cache comes to its finale ... and not a particularly grand one at that, although caughtatwork's plans suggest a possible encore or reprise or, perhaps, a variation on a theme.
As has been reported this cache has been muggled and it seems likely that the location is now a bit compromised (and never mind the future, with the east-west link likely to happen well before any rail line to the airport ). Since I am also limited in my ability to maintain this (due to my current location being rather distant and southerly) it seems wisest to let this one go. However, it appears that the plastic sistema container AND the log with the cache-sized hole in it (the one that took me a few warm summer evenings to chisel out!) are still in the vicinity. So, if anyone would like to avail themselves of the set and repurpose them for a new cache somewhere, please feel free to do so with my blessing. Please post a note on the cache page (or send me a message) when you have done so, so that I can archive the cache and make it clear that the objects are no longer available. I will archive this within a month in any event. Thanks to all the finders; this has always been one of the favourites among my hides.
I'd love to re-purpose this cache. All things being equal I'll drop past on Cup Day to take it all away.

In Melbourne caching with my caching mates the suscoe cachers and this guy being a mystery was high on our list as the pile of unfound but solved is mounting up, so being in the area we decided to check it out and like others have stated some poor souls have set up a camp in the thicket close by and have been there for a while by the looks.
Found the original hide and left our names inside it but did not find the container, maybe it is being used for something else.
I think if the cache can be reinvented that would be great. I hope it works out,
Thanks Sam Carter for another well thought out cache.

Suscoe was in Melbourne today in the good company of Bushfire. we had decided to take on a mystery run as we had quite a few blue ?s with solutions but we had not visited GZ before today.
The weather was cool with the occasional sun shine and rain bands heading through from time to time.
This was our 8th find of the day. We had the co-ords some time ago but today was the first chance to arrive here.
Thanks SamCarter for this hide.
There are still some "locals" living nearby but they were "out of town" so to speak this afternoon.

See my log of today - cache has been muggled and container is now empty of all contents and lying under a tree about 20m away. Object that disguised the hide is still at GZ, which now seems to be a day camp for some guys who seem to be sleeping rough. Guys are friendly and approachable (at least a midday on a Monday).
This was a fun and funny puzzle to do. We found it - but this cache has been completely compromised. I'll log a needs maintenance but this is the story . . . My 7 year old son and I were in the city for an appointment and this GZ was close by. Plenty of people around the area including two seemingly homeless mates drinking in a cleared area of bush some way off the track. It seemed like a permanent day time camp with their belongings hanging off the surrounding trees. Guess which way the GPS was pushing me! We tried to circle around but it was obvious that we needed to go exactly where they were. They were very friendly and called out to say hello. I approached their area and explained that we were playing a navigation game. Right in the middle of camp I saw the hide, lifted it up with my foot saw an empty shape in the object where the cache container should be. I asked the guys if they had seen a box. One responded, "If it was a Sam Carter box, it's under a tree over there." He then guided us to the tree and left us to it. My son excitedly opened the box . . . only to find it completely empty. I'll attached a pic to this. We put the box back under the tree and marked a waypoint. I'll email Sam Carter the co-ordinates so he can retrieve it should he wish. Bummer that this has been completely muggled but at least the muggles were friendly and helpful in showing me where they had chucked the container!
Well done Sam, it was a pleasure to find a cache (and description) so lovingly crafted.
Thanks to shark irfan for solving this one. A nice place for a good sized cache, well done!
Found with day1976. I solved this at home and we were out and about doing solved puzzles. This was my contribution. A nice puzzle. Tftc
Brilliant puzzle. Thought lot more into it than I needed too. Once had coords I bolted from the car yo GZ. Lets hope no parking ticket! Nice work in hide gets a fave from me.
In younger days my music ability was stretched when I went from pan fry flute to non-bbq violin. My efforts to tune the stringed instrument in classic style to middle-C with tone deaf middle ear confirmed my status as expert Fiddle Sticks player. I could pluck any tune by ear, but it wouldn't be the one my teacher expected. When I was allowed to progress to use a bow, it did little to enhance my hair style; instead it often got tangled in it ! [:o)] My fat fingers often got caught in the strings so my cheap chipped nail varnish would leave its mark on the violin to give a polished flakey finish, much like my concerto performances.
My practical theory was to take no half measures with practice sessions ( ie I didn't practise at all !) and to fudge dolce nougat pieces when needed but I worked extremely hard on sight reading, specialty subject was T-shirt messages en forte bods. With my sights set high on solid round body performances, I had the chance to join Melbourne's prestigious M Barrased sextet but managed to brass off their lead soloist by being too highly strung. Sad to say, disharmony trumpeted the demise of my violin ambitions but was fortuitous timing to head west to make my fortune in the mining boom. Timing is everything, I became a successful high beat major miner. As a refrain, I'm sure I could play SamCarter's Fudge in B major &/or minor in dulcissimo marshmellow tone to give extra weight to Poussin's genius.. Long may she now decompose in peace.
I love the symphonic semantic melody of this cache descriptive manuscript and am extra proud to complete the final movement by autographing the exquisite log. Bravo ! A standing ovation applause favourite for both puzzle & cache ! [^]

After solving another sheet music cache at lunchtime I had yet another look at this. The other method was of no help but I noticed something which that gave me a set of believable numbers. With the kids off getting haircuts tonight I had a bit of extra time so came across and made the quick find.
Thanks SamCarter for the clever puzzle and the cache. A fav.

After a big day driving from Bacchus to an appointment in Moonee Ponds, then to Royal Park, where I did just that and parked the car, grabbed the bike and rode into town to grab a visa for an upcoming trip to Nepal, had lunch with my son at the Turf, I just had to fill the day with a few caches on a roundabout ride back to the car.
I'd had a lot of help with these puzzles, and was glad to finally have the chance to cross them off the list around town. Thanks for a great little challenge, and thanks again for dropping that geocoin at Pykes all those years ago. Adding a fave, thanks Sam Carter

This puzzle sent me around in circles, and over a year ago I finally managed to solve it. Very nice indeed!
The area seems to be a spot that I have never managed to cache in, so decided today would be the day. Having had a few solved puzzles archived I thought it best to set this as my main aim for today.
This is a lovely area and I am glad that I finally came to check it out. As I approached GZ I spotted something that looked promising and it turned out to be the cache.
Thanks to SamCarter.

It's been a long time since my last piano lessons, several decades in fact! But never mind I managed to fudge my way around this little number and waltzed on up to the final to rapturous applause from myself.....Loved it and so easy once you hit the right key. Gets a favourite from me.
What a fabulously well worded cache!
This was actually the first Melbourne puzzle I solved out of the 70 odd before coming to Melbourne this weekend.
Sunday Afternoon was not really the best day though to navigate to GZ. Being unfamiliar with the roads in Royal Park I needed to do a few laps before I finally found a place not too far away to park the car.
Still GZ was sufficiently protected from prying eyes and a nice large cache was found causing me to have a little song and dance myself.
Thanks for a great cache SamCarter

I used all my musical knowledge and got nowhere. Then one last thought in the middle of the night and I thought I was on to a winner. Google maps even said it could be OK.
Fortunately I met Bushfire at a gathering to tackle a few weeks back and he had come up with a different answer very similar to mine and google thought he could be correct too.
Well it was too much for me and as Tag-along was at work I 'detoured' over your way and started with bushfire's co-ords first. (I thought knowing his expertise he would more likely be right than me. It also looked very logical.)
Bingo. Sometimes you can't see the trees for the forest.
I really enjoyed the challenge and the humour in the fudge (nice for a change). A definite fav. I will look at other caches in a different light from now on.
TFTC SamCarter whose 'fudge' will forever be in my musical repertoire from now on.

Another NZ cacher had recomended this cache to me some time ago as one I would enjoy solving.
After I had worked out the treble component it didn't take me long to solve the bass part, as you would expect. I did't have time to look for the cache the last time I was here in November last year so made sure to make the effort too this time as it may be a while before I'm back this way. A well constructed puzzle and a nicely hidden container.

I solved this one soon after it came out but was never confident enough to check it out. I should have!! I have looked at it often between then and now. Thanks SamCarter.

Find #523
Found following an excellent dinner in the city to celebrate the forthcoming nuptials of my brother in a city steak house where I discovered that he can talk the ears of a field of corn when he has had one or two beverages of the alcoholic variety.
The younger ones of the party decided to head off to test their ability to hold, and I assume consume much more alcohol than would be medically recommended. I, on the other hand, know my limitations. I also know I don't get to go out caching often, and I suddenly felt the call...
This was my last cache grabbed for the night. I had solved this cache very early in my caching career, but had never been in even a remotely good position to ever come and sign off on it. Tonight I made amends.
This cache does not get a favourite point from me for the puzzle. This cache does not get a favourite point from me for the hide. Nor does it get a favourite point for the way the cache page has been put together. The favourite point system does not allow this. It only allows one favourite point per cache.
More's the pity.
This cache is an excellent example of a well considered hide, in a good yet inconspicuous location, with a well conceived and executed puzzle, not afraid to have a little fun.
Thanks for the cache and the fun! Does it surprise that I also give it a favourite point? (My third for tonight!)
By the way, after completing this I was crushed that I was unable to retrieve the Stargate cache, another of your long solved, yet not logged treasures.

While ticking off some traditional in the park today I noticed a way point for GZ and realised I had solved a puzzle nearby and forgotten all about it. Thank god for personal notes.
The puzzle was no issue. It took me longer to read the description than to solve the puzzle, but I had a good laugh doing it.
The find itself was also no issue, did my business there and took off to find the next cache.
Unfortunately in my haste I unwittingly nicked the caches pen as I found it in my pocket later on. Could some kind soul drop a spare pen in the cache to rectify my grievous sin.
TFTC SL LNTpen (sorry!!!)

Well, the end of the world was upon us and as so many others did, I thought the best way to spend the last day on Earth would be to go caching! A non-caching friend opted to come along for the ride too - added bonus. I looked around for the best spots that were easily accessible by Public Transport and thought that Royal Park looked like the best option. I would finally get to clear out some of the puzzles I had solved and there were a few other caches nearby - and it was easy to get around on foot. We were a bit slow getting there but we arrived at about 1:30 or so. A lot of fun was had roaming around with my friend taking a few shots with a new iPhone Fish-Eye lens and so on. This find was the 8th of 8 finds for the day, the last find today.
I solved this cache a long time ago however it has taken me this long to actually get here to put my name in the logbook. I am quite a musical person so when I set about solving the puzzle, I went down quite a complex musical path only to no avail. I got a little nudge from a fellow cacher and I found that the answer had been staring me in the face the whole time! DOH! We were both getting quite tired now so we decided to call it quits.... as soon as I found this cache . Followed the GPS and as we approached GZ, I eyed off a likely spot. Went there and uncovered a well hidden cache.
A very good puzzle with a nice hide and a great location. Thanks for the fun SamCarter

30/11/12 8:36 PM Find #1614 With just a little bit of daylight left for Friday I decided I needed to find a few caches that are near home and here I am. I've never been here before and on approach to this cache I had a good view back to the CBD and I could clearly see the Ferris Wheel thing in Docklands...maybe one day I'll get to see it actually working. There were also flashes of lightning far away. The co-ords were spot and I quickly had the cache after dispatching a few bugs. The cache is in good condition and is cleverly camo'd. Thanks SamCarter...I enjoyed the puzzle. Its always nice when a solution finally comes together
Not sure about the clue, and not very musical unless this is there to throw me off the track. Will try again once I get some more caches under my belt.
Found on my weekly caching expedition in the suburbs. Today I caught a 55 tram in the city to hunt a bunch around the Royal Park area.
I'd worked out the coords at home fairly quickly (lucky I'm a wannabe muso) and it was a pleasant walk to GZ (as long as I ignored the constant stream of cars next to me). The coords were pretty good so it was a reasonably quick find when I found the 'something not quite right'. I enjoyed the camo job and the good-sized container. Thanks for a fun and memorable cache Sam!

I can't believe I finally got my first cryptic. It was a great puzzle that I got surprisingly quick. My trouble was figuring out how to use the numbers I worked out. Once I got that straight it was how to put it into my phone. After finally figuring it all out I made it to GZ and braved the spiders. Great hide but the paper was damp and the pen has run out and unfortunately the noob I am forgot to bring a spare. TFC
Just adding a Fave Point from our find back on 28/4/12 - we needed to find more caches before we could give one lol!!
Having helped john (quiet1_au) with Puella Abore we continued on to this cache which he had already found. On the first attempt at solving this puzzle JMelb made no progress. She came back to it and inspiration hit after a short time. GMelb, having a music background would probably have spent a large amount of time without success (like others before). Thanks SamCarter

Found at 5:30pm.
I had a meeting of our ski club committee in North Melbourne at 6pm, or rather a pre meeting dinner, so I came early to find a few caches. This was the fourth and last of them.
I had the corrected coordinates of this one in GSAK after having the solution for many months. This is way out of my normal caching area however and I hadn't had an opportunity to complete the last step before.
Tonight I was caught in traffic as I approached GZ from the city direction and it wasn't moving at all. I had one eye on the clock as I knew I had to work my way back in time for dinner. Eventually I lost my patience and just pulled up onto the central nature strip and parked under a gum tree. This was about 350m from the cache.
I walked to the cache and enjoyed the unexpected and unusual view of the city I glimpsed as I neared the cache site.
The cache was just a joy of workmanship, perfectly disguised to fool a muggle but pretty obvious to a cacher. As I examined it I saw it was covered in ants, spiders and slugs, most of which fell off without too much encouragement. The slugs were a bit hardier and so I had to flick them off. The cache cleaned up pretty well and was quire dry inside. The log book was in good condition and so were the contents.
I signed the log and carefully reassembled the camo. There was no-one any where near me to see what was going on, this was a great spot for a cache.
I made my way back to the car, drove back onto the road and made it to the dinner with time to spare.
Thanks for this great cache. It gets a favourite point from me because of the clever puzzle, the great location, the size of the cache and the very elaborate and well constructed hide.
Thank you.

This cache has been on my to do list for some time now. Each time I looked at it it seemed an impenetrable puzzle so I put it off and set off after easier "prey". For some reason I was thinking about it again this morning when I woke up, and how I might perhaps use a similar music theme for one of my own caches. So I came online and revisited the cache page. This time whilst studying the notes once again something leaped out off the page at me and blow me down if I didn't finally see how to solve this one - I chuckled as the numbers fell into place. With no geocheck(er) I checked the map, it seemed as plausible a place as any, so I set off to see if I was right. Passing the still fenced off Myer Music Bowl (that WhereIGo will still have to wait...) and battling the multiple road closures thanks to some charity bike race (an event that would plague me around the city today as I tried to gather caches). Anyway, I parked as near as I good to GZ, and walking in spotted the only possible hiding place for it - and sure enough an usual Sistema container was unearthed (along with some spider webs - thankfully no spiders, I think they're from trapdoorless trapdoor spiders which I have in my garden and are agressive little beasts best avoided!) I recorded my visit, rehide the cache and headed off well pleased to my start to the day TFTC and a sneaky little puzzle.
Tricky but got it eventually with a bit less focus. Great hide - could have done without the bugs! Left a tazo, took nothing. Thx for the adventure.
We have to admit that this one had us stumped for a long time. With 20+ years of music theory between us we figured it wouldn't be a problem. We tried retrograde inversions, Schenker analysis, tone row hunting and discretization. After months of frustration we finally sat back and had a good look and there the answer was. Ah well, live and learn. A most enjoyable cache and an excellent description! T: Australia 2008 GC
5/10/2011 12:55 As I was wondering where to go today and browsing my list of caches I saw this cache and recall having solved it. I couldn't find my notes so I just solved it again. I took the train from parliament to Melbourne Central then the 19 tram north to MacArthur Drive. A short walk later and i was at GZ. A Great hide to fool muggles but immediately noticed by me, even from a distance with geosense turned on. TFTC SamCarter TNLN SL

Out on a legendary cache run with caching buddy Trailrunning. For the first time, we actually completed the whole list and added a few more on the way home to meet the 50-find cache mark. Started early at 5.45pm all the way till 2am before we went home tired, but happy. 2 DNF's along the way but an awesome run all the same.
We had both solved this one at home, so we were here to pick up the caches in this area. We found a parking spot and walked to the cluster of three caches where it was found easily. Nice work on the camo for this one. TFTC SamCarter

As usual I had planned a night of caching with my good buddy jsmyong55. We had quite a number on the list, and I never thought we would get through them all. We did and then some! The final tally for the night has not yet been realised as there are both Geocaching Australia.com and Geocaching.com caches in the mix, but we both know we both grabbed over 50 caches each. To get jsmoyong55 over the line we detoured from a direct route to his home to get a few more. It was the first time for both of us to get over 50 so we were both pretty pleased with our efforts. This cache was one of those we grabbed. Parking here was a nightmare, but as there are three caches in close proximity the walk across the oval made it all worthwhile. Thanks SamCarter.
Have been having an intermittent look at this one and solved it in a cafe today after a flash of brilliance by drjim7. Another great SamCarter cache and we have now finished all of the Royal Park puzzles sadly.
Well like all the rest I needed a eureka moment to solve this one. Excellent work SamCarter. The clever prose with a brain challenging description and a then a solid cache as reward, AND accurate co-ords. The essence of a great cache. Easy choice as favourite. Thanks for the effort and thought on this cache.
Wish I had paid more attention during music at school, it would have made this easier. Thank goodness for google!

We love music but were never real great at reading it. This was a challenge that brought back many memories of school music classes and just how much information we took in. Sadly not enough but all the same with a bit of a brain storming with Troobloo and some research we came up with the required info. After solving this puzzle some time ago we had the opportunity to complete it on our whirl wind trip to Melb. Nice area although a little damp under foot we found the cache pretty quickly. Liked the hide as well! SL TNLN T4TC
As a music lover, I must solve this and find this.

Absolutely loved it!! Thanks SamCarter, I have had a lovely time refreshing my musical notation knowlege
A glorious days walk as well, though the slugs & spiders are beginning to get a good community going on the outside of the cache.
The toddler insisted on carrying off the bouncy ball, will get someone to replace stash when they finally have their lightbulb moment and get to enjoy it as well!
TFTC, SL, once again, brilliant!

Out tonight for a puzzle solving caching run. I had solved the puzzle about a year ago now but never had the chance to come here and get the cache until tonight. Parked up the end of a little street opposite GZ off Macarthur Rd and walked back across to GZ. Quick search of the area and the well hidden cache was soon found. Nice hide. Signed the log and was on my way. Thanks for the hide SamCarter.
A great puzzle and a great cache. I had looked at this one a few times before, but moved on when I realised I would have to sit down and run the notes through.
This has come into my caching radius recently though, so I had a closer look last week. It wasn't till I walked away from the computer and came back that it suddenly hit me. A brilliant idea.
So I decoded the coordinates and headed out today after work. Cheers!

Knowing I was coming over to Melbourne, I cast my eye over some puzzles, and this one caught my eye because it was in Royal Park, it had a Tassie connection, it was a music puzzle, and it was great fun to read - pirates waltzing lol...
This is the third music puzzle I've solved and each has been quite different. I looked at it on and off for about 5 minutes, and I had it. Very clever (the puzzle, not me).
This morning I left Mrs RC sleeping and hopped on a tram, and then strolled across Royal Park.
A nicely put together hide as well, though I had to scrape off the slugs and other creepy-crawlies.
Thanks for a great cache!

It took us awhile to sort out what was the correct way to solve this puzzle and have actually had the co-ords for while but don't often get into town. Today Mrs Crackers was visiting a friend in Peter Mac and knew that The Coffee clan were also going to be in the vicinity so we met up to finally look for this cache.

I expect everyone to be able to cope with the redback spider, but earwigs are another matter entirely (I blame my dislike on the tap in my grandmother's backyard which, when I was a child, used to spout earwigs anytime you turned it on). Having encountered an earwiggy cache myself in recent days, I have -- with some remorse -- conducted a deinfestation maintenance visit. No guarantees about how long it will last, however.
Comment of the day: "good to have [cute66] along to find the spiders" Hmmm. Luckily had not seen a redback at such close quarters, so did not overreact. Earwigs and slug just as unpleasant surprise. Same for mosquitoes. Spent some time solving musical puzzle which was not one. TFTC.
Mrs Squalid solved this one some time ago - after an inordinate amount of time spent pondering different possible solutions, and overlooking the correct one. Today was the day to go and claim the prize, which was found alongwith lots of earwigs. Took a geocoin and dropped one off. Thanks for a great cache.

Finally. Nearly two years after being hidden, I cracked the clues a little while ago without having to resort to any help. I think I was just too close to the idea but too far away from the concept. Today was a good chance for GabGab and I to head out to GZ and see what we could see.
Nothing but a glorious cache was revealed at GZ. While the puzzle was harder for me than it should have been, it is celever enough for loads of people to work out. The cache construction was also very much top notch and a pleasure to find and open.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks SamCarter for the fun of the puzzle as well as the magnificient cache at GZ. A beautiful job and I heartily mark this caches as *recommended*.

Hilarious Cache Page. Oooo the ironey! I must be the least musical person I know (tone deaf and the rhythm of a 62 legged centipede with 27 left shoes and parkinsons disease) but I got this one out nice and quick (much to C@W's disatification with his far superior understanding of such things when I told him I'd cracked it the other day at lunch... )
Made the grab today and the top puzzle is followed up by a top cache. Left a Signal Geocoin. Please do be aware a rather large and happy Red Back has made her next of eggs in the camo of the cache. Use caution when retrieving, perhaps gloves may be an option. I didnt disturb her, she looked quite content with the Fudge

Solved this puzzle a while back over a lazy lunchtime of puzzle-solving - For once, my musical background was a negative as I thought way too deeply. Eventually sat back and took another look - ah, of course!
So today found myself in the area so was very keen to finish this find... And it was a delightfully easy, but incredibly well done find. Very satisfying on all counts!

I solved this puzzle a while ago, which is great by the way, and went today with Ostara74 and PathFinder24 to pick it up today. We were sooooo impressed with the hide, most excellent work! You don't see them like this that often. It was worth a photo that's for sure. Thanks SamCarter. We were very impressed..... indeed.

I’d been trying to work this one out for a few months now – my knowledge of music (which isn't a lot) wasn't helping me at all. But because I was in the area, I thought I’d give it another go this morning… Aha! Got it at last!
(Largo)
I got out my GPS (a beautiful instrument, don’t you think?) and began to play, but my transposition of the piece was slightly off-key because I spent half an hour looking in the wrong spot.
(Presto!)
I realised my mistake, tuned my instrument, and found the cache today at 3.30pm.

At first I viewed Eleanor's piece in the wrong way, and that probably would have brought me to a broken down lawn-mower. Instead, I found the correct way to see the piece, and found the cache a few hours later on the way back to SamCarter's place. She wasn't helpful. TFTC.
OK, so I may not be able to tell the difference between a quaver and an eighth note, or a semibreve and a whole note, but I do know art when I hear it... ?!?
I love it, and enjoyed watching my 11 year old son solve it whilst sipping on a shake on the University of Melbourne campus, in the company of elite mathematician-types. FOUND IT! FOUND IT! FOUND IT!!
Had wrestled with this one for about a year now off and on. So blindingly obvious, and slightly embarrassing to contemplate the lengths to which I overly-over-thought this one, and definately managed to have the rather 'doh'-worthy moment of realising it had been staring me in the face all along!
And then, we both managed to get dyslexic and punch in the wrong co-ords!
So after three attempts (today) dancing all round the grounds, back and forth through traffic with incorrect co-ords... and waiting for council working muggles to actually _stop_ doing some work (?) & wander off, we finally had the chance to put our hands on the long elusive sweet, sweet, Fudge! (How did you know I like fudge logs? haha)
Curiously, after our discussion over drinks this afternoon, there was a white-tail in the cache container. A few other bugs too. They were suitably 'managed', log was signed, and cache returned to it's home.
Thankyou Sam. Love your caches, and this one had me amused well before it had me frustrating myself. Still get a grin on my face when I read the cache description
Now, I think you're going to have to get some more caches out into the world. Short of climbing the mountain (which will happen, hopefully soon), or boating over to the Haiku, we've wrapped up the set. And they've been great fun!
Thanks again, YIC, May of TaylorBrats.

We were at the park for an event so decided to give this a go without the benefit of solving the puzzle. At the coordinates it was obvious that the puzzle needed to be solved so we departed regretfully. Now have to co-opt a friend with the The Knowledge. For the moment that will have to be fine.

We cracked the code a few days earlier but we did not get a chance to look for the cache until today. We combined our 2 interests of cycling and geocaching today. The grass leading to the GZ was getting a bit long. The hide was pretty obvious but nicely done. We didn't have anything on us to swap so we simply sign the log. Thank you for the cache.

When I first started caching in August (09) this was the very first puzzle cache I looked at - and I decided that only better minds than I could solve puzzle caches. But - I've done a few other puzlle caches now and I decided to re-visit this one. It seemed inpenetrable to me and my school-boy music lessons could throw no illumination upon it. I gazed at it long and hard on my iPhone Geocaching application late one night as the gentle lilt of the tune running in my head made me drowsy and my eyes began to close - and then an epiphany!! The solution suddenly came to me! The quality of the cache container added a wonderful encore to the performance before the fat-lady began to sing. I took a blue karabineer and added a New Zealand compass clip. Thank you for a great cache!

I had looked at this cache description awhile ago but dropped it due to an extreme lack of musical knowledge.
A later chance encounter enabled me to draft not one but two talented musicians and their skills into the puzzle busting team. They chewed on it for a bit AND!!!! .......nada.
So, imagine my satisfaction when I came back to them some time later with the solution. I think we all had the same look on our faces when we had that Ah ha! moment.
Today I made the trip out to GZ, braving the heat, the swooping Noisy Minors and the grasseeds in the socks. The well engineered cache made for an even better find.

When this cache was first published we spent some time on the puzzle - we tried it on the piano, we asked a very musical literate uncle to play it and set about revising our musical theory. Alas came out flat.
We had another look at the score with renewed allegro last week after visiting some of SamCarters other terrific caches and after an email all became clear. I certainly need to renew my musical reading ability last practiced with a trumpet at high school.
An excellent cache and a great hide that we made harder than necessary.

The ssmc4 family recently broke out all their instruments (cello, violin, guitar and spoons) and attempted to play this rather eclectic piece, however once all the neighbourhood dogs started howling we realised that either:
a) the instruments were badly out of tune;
b) there was a distinct lack of talent in our ensemble (certainly true in Mr ssmc4's case); or
c) our interpretation of the piece would need to be revised.
After several days of continuously listening to ABC Classical FM for inspiration, a series of notes began to come to the forefront of my consciousness.
The opportunity to try for the location of this cache came tonight on my ride home from work and the prize was found at 17:45 on a lovely winter's evening with one of my favourite views of the city skyline. TNLN.
The description and puzzle was a beauty, the location was teriffic and the cache hide was tremendous.
A top cache - full marks all round! Many thanks SamCarter.

We set off to find this cache on a beautiful calm day, and soon noticed the leitmotif chosen by the composer. However after reading Sam's cache notes we had fragments of unfinished symphonic solutions galloping round in our heads like an intoxicated percussion section (or possibly a two-stroke mower that's run amuck) (not to mention disturbing images of waltzing pirates minus wooden leg). Thus the overture left us feeling quite agitato.
Fortunately in the end our music appreciation skills meant our first movement led us to the cache prestissimo!
Bravo SamCarter! A splendid work!

We found our 5th Sam Carter cache at 11:05am as the 3rd of 10 on our WWFM V Inner West Suburban Tour in company of Team Rubik and Wallyhunt. Sam Carter seems not only to be incapable of making a bad cache but also not able to produce a below average, fair to middling, or even slightly above average cache for that matter. Another ripper production that could easily win both Australian Idol and Australian Cache Idol in the same year. Glad to say I was able to get the leap of logic under my own steam to work this one out. Thanks for the cache from D & H B-A.
Wonderful stuff! That's the best cache description I've read in a while (or possibly ever), and I loved the hide. I'm still not sure that I worked out everying I was meant to, but it was great discovering that I was indeed in the right place.
I saw this when it first came out but was far too preoccupied with other things to give it a go. I did so recently and despite a number of attempts got nowhere. I have done a lot of Puzzle caches over time and was applying every technique that I could think of to no avail. Eventually I got help and am glad I did as I may still have been trying. Its one of those that is possible to solve very quickly and is easy once you know how, but you could also spend ages on it and still not get it. You have to percieve it in the right way or you have no hope.
That having been said it is quite clever and the hide was pretty good too. Thanks SamCarter for the fun.

After a whole month with not one cache find due to illness I decided it was time to end the cache drought and what better cache to do that on but this one, the puzzle had me going for awhile but it all of a sudden came to me, i enjoyed the effort put into the hide. Thanks Sam
Not wanting to give too much away here on any level but I'd looked at this many times and for way too long when a few nights ago I was lying in bed feeling pretty relaxed when I picked it for yet another look and there it was. Solved! How goods that! Then off to find it and no troubles there either. I was quite entertained by the whole thing and appreciate the effort that has gone into putting this cache together. Thanks indeed SamCarter.
