Many DNF prior to us.

28-Nov-23
Unfortunately we did not find this one today.

11-Nov-23
No luck on this one. It did have us placed in the middle of the road, but if the previous person who had found this has moved it from the original spot, then no wonder it won't be easy to find

24-Sep-23
TFTC! Wasnt sure about this one with a few DNFs ahead of me. I found this sneaky little hide, where I didnt think it should be hiding. So placed it back where I believe it should now be. Nice to see a cache over 14 years of age still going strong and in the game.

I was on a daytrip adventure from Brisbane to Warwick to Toowoomba and back, going to events and picking up friends caches. This one was grabbed along the way. Thanks for a great cache!

09-Jul-23
Oz_bean_counter and I have today blocked out for some kind of outdoor adventure. Ideally, we'd do some kind of mountain climb, but instead, I suggest an event in Warwick. She suggests when done there, we climb Mt Peel. And after that I had three older geocaches north of Toowoomba to collect. Yeah, this is a good plan and way to fill most of a day.

It's been a long time since a day out geocaching was "drive seemingly at random, then pause and find a small container on the side of the road". Generally speaking, that kind of geocaching makes me sad and bored. But we're looking for specifically these older geocaches. And it's a lovely day out, all wintery crisp and clear. Plus, just being outside, away from home and enjoying the weekend.

Quite impressively, Google Maps had this little hall marked, which made in-car navigation easy. OBC parked us right beside GZ and I hopped out to begin what I thought would be a short search. Nope. After a minute of prodding about the rock, tree, fence.. she joined me. And then of course found it before me!

But it was all a bit stuck. It took some ingenuity, spaghetti fingers and a little stick to leverage it out. I think the hide has rotted a bit and it had fallen down. But a tiny little bison and logbook was soon in hand, being signed at 15:20. Another off the list! Thanks for this geocache, Timmos Smile

We had a wonderful weekend out west of Brisbane. After attending the event in Oakey, our team, Team Grav, (E_Smiley, Chamad, Triple Turmoil, Simber15, willis007 and Nayfee) travelled together and made this find along the way.
Thanks timmos

30-Oct-21
A plan was formed recently to camp at Oakey over the October long weekend (due to Ekka being postponed) and tackle the art and a number of fun puzzles in the vicinity. The call went out to a few others we enjoy travelling with and the solving began! Lots of back and forth between members and we finally had a full set a few days out from the trip.

The roads were wet and muddy but that isn't going to stop a group of dedicated geocachers on a mission! The rain held off which we were grateful for however chunks of mud were often shaken off shoes before returning to cars and moving on to the next one.

As is always the case when caching with others there were many laughs and a great time had by all. Always a great sense of achievement when you've been working through a project over a number of weeks.

Thankyou for placing and arranging this series for our enjoyment. The fields and flowers were in bloom. Birds a plenty enjoying the roadside water sources. The scenery was refreshing. Always enjoy a taste of the countryside. Logs signed as Team Grav (as in Gravel assault!)

30-Oct-21
Day two of our Oakey trip and a later start than usual.

We set off just after 9am and hit the trail, ughh.. Road? I don't know what to call it, but we travelled on it. Our main target for the day was the Gravel series than we slowly made our way north than south while collecting a bunch of caches along the way.

I have never ventured out this way before so it was a real eye opener, the towns, the farms, the flowers, the animals, you name it we saw it, well, maybe not everything because I was disappointed I didn't see an elephant, but you get the picture.

We certainly picked the right time of year as the Jacarandas were in full bloom and you wouldn't go through a town without seeing a bunch of them, absolutely stunning, it truely is an amazing tree and you can literally spot them from a mile away.

The team had an absolute blast and we thoroughly enjoyed travelling the open road breathing in the fresh country air, what more could you ask for? Well, a coffee shop perhaps since I went the WHOLE. ENTIRE. DAY without coffee and that is deadly, If i miss my daily caffeine goodness I become a terrible person and do bad things, other than that it was a very memorable day.

Thank you so much for placing this cache here for us to enjoy.

Log signed as Team Grav to save space.

Day two of my outback adventure of heading to Cunnamulla for the QOGM. This morning it is grabbing a few around the Highfields area. I then picked up my caching buddy and we continued on collecting a few more caches in the Oakey area before heading to St. George for the night. I had a list of caches I still needed this was one of those. We even got a few extras as we drove past.
This was a nice quick find and my TOTT came in handy here. We signed the log and replaced as found then continued on our way. Thank you for placing this one here some nice history here.

21-Sep-21
Met up with Chamad for a road trip to Cunnamulla for QOGM. Our aim was to get to St George by dinner, so we had time to collect some target caches along the way. It was so windy and cold, so quick finds were much appreciated.

**Feeling Good Lyrics (Feel Good by Cy Grant 1965)**

Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel.

Ouh
And I'm feeling good Smile

After yesterday's 53 finds we had an unencumbered and refreshing night's sleep at Yarraman Caravan Park.
Up early to snare a few more smilies before heading back down the mountain.
#15 of 18 found today but we sure covered some kilometres! Big Grin

We visited here what seems like about 10 years ago but it must have been more recent & apparently it was missing then.
Not so now.
Mrs VC was quick to spot the cache despite it's sneaky hide. Smile
Glad to get this one tucked away ay last!
Made our mark & replaced as found.
As we drove away a nice specimen of lace monitor wandered onto the road ahead of us but soon changed it's mind as the behemoth known as the Geo-Beast roared toward it.
Actually I think we were doing about 20 k/h at the time. [?] Big Grin

Second cache of 2021! Neat hiding spot that our geoadventurer found easily. TFTC

28-Dec-20
Two finds here today apparently. So sad to see small schools close, but transport improved, and taking pupils by bus to larger schools is a better outcome for all. Sadly even larger schools are being closed also, and in the city too. My mother went to Taringa State School in Brisbane back in the 1920s era, and was looking forward to attending the centenary festivities at the school, but the education bureaucrats decided to close the school due to much diminished student enrollments after 99 years!
But that's got nothing to do with this cache. an easy find, log and replace. TFTC, Timmos.

After sleeping in the Ute last night. A early start to our caching day. We solve the letterbox last night Selva Girls pick me up at woollies we found 30 caches and 1 Adventure Lab. The break down was 23 traditional, 5 mystery, multi, letterbox and 5 waypoints for the Adventure lab. So the finds count was 35. All caches were found all good condition.
Then I drove back to Brisbane in the afternoon. And pickup one in Brisbane. Timmos *TFTC* 4477 *Finds*

Fab day beadling around the back tracks near Crowie. Drizzly weather and the landscape brought back memories of running wild as a teen in rural Victoria Coffee ️ in town capped off a relaxing day. Built a campfire later to warm my toes

I find it a little sad to find locations where once schools were situated. I can only hope that the buildings have been relocated and put to good use somewhere else. I bet there have been many happy times here. Thanks for bringing us here with a cache. At least the school is remembered with a plaque. We were glad to find this cache as it’s been a while since it had some company. Log signed thankfully.
Cheers and happy caching!

I grew up in Toowoomba but didn't get into caching until I met my now geohubby WallabyTim and moved to the Sunshine Coast to be with him. Now years later it's time for us to live and cache the Toowoomba area and this was our first find together since moving on the weekend. Lovely freezing cold wind blowing a gale and then starting to rain just as we found the cache. Worth it for the smiley

Cache found, signed & returned. As we were about to drive off an almighty screeching noise scared the bejesus out of us!! What was that??? Geohubby speculated it may have been a peacock?! Well what do ya know, it was!! Standing by a tree behind the fence nearby there was our mystery noise maker. Such beautiful birds & geo mums favourites. The memorial plaque was surrounded by gorgeous spring time bush flowers . Very pretty! Thanks for the cache Timmons xo

Mrs RoddyC and I were out in the Barcaldine Region for a week, in the company of youngoldfella, planning for the ACGM next year. Today we are on the final leg home.

School may be out forever, and in my mind that's pretty good as I would really rather not revisit any of it, but that wasn't this school, and I think this cache is worth keeping alive. Having searched the area a few times, I contacted a previous finder and confirmed the cache's location and that it has gone. I have replaced the cache. It is now a camouflaged eclipse tin with log inside. BYO writing tool. Don't be tempted to use chalk like in the early school days... I don't think it will work very well. TFTC Timmos, I've messaged requesting to adopt this cache. Wink

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Timmos. We found your cache "Schools out for ever (MHS1)" at 11:18:00 AM today.
This was our 10th cache find in a caching run of 15 Finds & 1 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9521.)
[Blue]
Today's cache run was to add to our current streak of "Most Consecutive Days" cached. With this cache the total now stands at 227 Days.

Another day traipsing around the countryside, dodging roadworks and listening to the GPS telling us to take roads that don't exist. Maybe it's time to update the maps in the trusty Garmin. Big Grin
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent. (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Cache Trash.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.
