We swam over to the island and were happy to find the lake was not cold, but a pleasantly cool temperature. Nice little stroll and an easy find. TFTC! Must give a favourite, cuz hey, it's bon an island! And we got to swim here! ?? Didn't find any rubies, but dropped off a dangly gemstone ornament.??????( Why is it called Ruby lake???) TFTC!
After a magical kayak paddle from Wanaka we added this cache to the one we found on Pigeon Island in Lake Wakatipu, also achieved by kayak. Seemingly this cache hadn't been found since last June so we're the FTF for 2020. Greetings from Scotland and TFTC.
Beautiful part of the world. Lucky enough to be visiting family in Wanaka with a boat.
Found it!!! Was gonna go sky diving today but the clouds changed our plans. Sooo, we rented a kayak and paddled out to get this cache. Good mission!!!
What a great idea placing a cache on the island. We did a kayak tour with stopover here. It's such an amazing place.
Logbook is full an needs maintenance.
Thanks for this cache.

Thanks for this cache.
Most fun ever getting to the island on my cousins JetSki! Gorgeous New Year’s Day 2018 in Wanaka. Found the cache easily could see it from metres away! Thanks for bringing us here, best Cache I’ve done!
Yes a favourite from me, simply being the way to get to the cache! Was a sneaky find. Hint confused us a little bit had fun (-: beautiful day and views! Lovely part of this country!
Finally made it across to the island! Have wanted to get this one for a while now. Thanks
Kayaked over Tas said it was more than she expected the geocache was a bit wet
I have chosen this special location and cache for my 500th geocache. Came over kayaking on a sunny warm winter day! Very quiet out here and great views on the snow covered mountains. Logbook is completely soaked and is falling in pieces. TFTC
Unfortunately, the logbook is almost full, soaked wet and falling in pieces and needs maintenance.
We found this by accident last year when we were muggles. It is located under a memorial tree we planted for our dear friend Matt who died in a climbing accident in 2009. I was with the children weeding around the kowhai tree, when we stumbled across it. They were so excited to find real treasure on "treasure island". We re-visited 3 weeks ago and saw a gheko in the tree. A magical and historical location. Highly recommended.
McKay discovered this great cache. What a special spot to hide it. We could just imagine the dances held there many, many yr's back.
We only have one kayak I got towed behind on my board to get to this one. The island is a really nice spot and it was good to get into the water seeing it was over 30 degrees outside! TFTC
Kayaking on a hot day. Island very dry, lots of people out on the lake. Northernseals from Canada.
I was paddled there in a double kayak by my son. I sat like the queen admiring the view. Lovely island and cache. We were first people for ages to find the cache.
Great location. Must have been many good times had here!
Cache was found in the open with numerous
muggle logs since last official find. Covered it better to match the clue. Thanks

Found it with quinella and our geodog. Also brought our muggle nephew here who's 7 and he made the find- although we had to tell him they are not always in the open like that.
What a fantastic island- great to visit!

Yeah baby number 700 caches found for me and what a cool on to do it on. After a 10 minuet paddle in the kayaks we hit the beach. A short walk amd the cache was found really quick. Found it with Frazerfamily4, great wander around the island. Photos taken as well. The wind was coming down and the water was going to cut up so we headed back to the mainland. Awesome cache great place tftc
#900 Only five to go to 900 finds this morning and the weather was superb. We decided some boating was required so we made a picnic lunch and headed to Wanaka (a 40 minute drive) with the boat in tow as we have done most of the caches around Cromwell. We launched at Waterfall Creek and this was 5 of 5 today and #900. Yeah we had been saving this one for a milestone. A very nice spot and we even took our picnic here. It was already five ok but the other four caches had taken us a while. An easy walk up the hill from the jetty and a choice of picnic spots. Well worth a visit. This one earns a favourite point.
Great excuse for a paddle from Glendhu to town. Enjoyed the island and the views. Definitely my cache of the day today. Thanks.
Thanks for a reason to get out of my kayak, as I usually paddle out for morning training and turn straight around
Beautiful day for a jaunt in our wee boat across to Ruby Island . Found with Geo sister and Geo brother in law Tillerpilots.
Beautiful island, I timed it just right, getting back to shore just as big wind gusts started. TFTC
Quelle magnifique journée pour une balade en kayak !
Nous n'avons pas dansé sous les étoiles, mais marché sur l'île sous un soleil éclatant !

Great day to kayak to this cache with mum & sis, a short hike to find cache & then have lunch at nearby seat with fantastic view.
Such a beautiful morning so walked to lakeside & hired some kayaks with SuperJK & Oarsum TK. We decided we'd make a course to this island for lunch, & pick up a cache of course !. Beautiful paddling there & back as very calm & not many jet boats on lake but imagine it could be a more rocky trip on some days. Short hike to cache where we had our lunch nearby to admire the beautiful scenery. Love this excuse to "Dance with the Stars" ! Thanks for this awesome cache placement!
While zooming around on a jet boat ride we discovered that a cache is on an island near Wanaka. Towards the end of the jet boat trip we stopped here for five minutes and raced up to find this cache. Also learned about the cabaret history. TFTC Greetings from Tamania.
Was a bit choppy on kayak trip over but otherwise made it both ways and found the cache on a cool Island, thanks!
A beautiful morning to paddle over. Not a cloud in the sky and just the odd warbird cruising past. TFTC!!!
Now this was a good one - I like a challenge. I decided on the hired kayak option - after 40min of arm-aching paddling against a head wind, I reached the island.
On shore, I met some muggles who were soon informed about caching - they followed me all the way to GZ, and seemed most intrigued about the sport. Future converts? Anyway, just as I was about to jump in my kayak again, a nearby boatie said "Did you find it?" Apparently, he knows Bitsprayer, so I told him to remember me to that eminent geocacher.
Another long paddle brought me back to cold beer country again. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(2019)

Took a wonderful Waka trip for this one and loved every minute.

Great place for a cache esp on a busy a&p weekend in wanaka! Kayaked over to the island while avoiding all the motorised water toys that came out to play on a stunning day. Found on our sth island caravaning holiday.. Thanks...

Started out on a half day kayaking trip from Glendhu Bay, and stopped on Ruby Island for lunch. Great spot, and wonderful idea for a cache. TFTC
Found this one using only our geosenses - forgot to enter coordinates into gps and didn't bring fact sheet along. We were out for an awesome afternoon of sailing. TFTC. Left USAP patch, took nothing.
A great excuse to stop at this lovely spot that we have passed by so many times. TFTC.
Stopped at the location on our way back from a great afternoon on the lake, easy to find.

Getting a spot to land the boat was very tricky with high lake level. Nice sunny spot. Very quick find with SamandEm, Bee, and Raz. TNLNSL TFTC.
Found on a lovely sunny morning on our way out for a fish in the lake. Pity we didn't find any fish though!
Stunning day on the lake - dead calm. Went fo strop down the river in the JB. Cache all good but no stars
Had an exiting crossing by kayak to the island, beautiful place, but had no luck finding;
A very pleasant early moring paddle from Eely Point. On the water again this afternoon to act as safety boats for the Challenge Wanaka sprint races. TFTC
this was going to be a waterskiing trip to ruby island, but the lake was far too rough!! introduced milly's friend to geocaching and he's now addicted, much to milly's disgust!! our co-ordinates were about 12m out when we finally found it.

Took our boat over from Glendhu Bay. No wind - glassy water. Several groups enjoying island. Took our wee friend Will who enjoyed his first find. Took mini pack of cards, left green jandal keyring. TFTC neighbours.
We launched a dinghy with an outboard motor at Waterfall Creek & went across. All the boys including the big one loved doing this cache. Junior boy loved being allowed to drive us back.

Great Cache. Launched the Jet Ski at the Marina and went over. I was suprisee how many facilities there are on the island. TFTC
Yeah! My first FTF! And this here in New Zealand, that’s great!
I saw that no one has come here ‘til now. So I hired a Jet Boat and went over to the island. It has cost me a fortune. But hey, it’s for a FTF! And that’s worth it, isn’t it? Besides that, I had a fun trip over and back (including a "Hamilton spin"), a great view FROM and a very nice hideaway ON the island.
Once there, I started looking for this cache. My GPS leaded me about six to eight meters off the spot but after about ten minutes the cache was mine as well as the FTF.
OUT: magnetic Key locker (for my first own cache back at home - thank you!)
IN: Swiss playing cards in mini format
TIME: 1:20pm.
