I was hoping to get my cache-a-day cache with this one but it wasn't to be.

21-Jun-16
It hasn't been found for 11 months and has had no CO visits.

14-Feb-16
In Hokianga for Valentines Day and decided to pick up a few caches before a "romantic dinner" on the bay!

Unfortunately, this wasn't to be one of the caches! Looked at both the original coordinates and the new one - no luck!

04-Feb-16
No cache no orcars . Will try again when back up this way

31-Jul-15
Had a look but no collect ..

31-Jul-15
Enjoyed a bit of a scramble around the GZ. Looked in the long grass above as the previous logs suggested this was where it was but no luck. I do love these amazing trees and how they grow out of the most amazing places. Thanks anyway Smile

03-Jul-15
After spending a good while, and risking life and limb climbing around the area searching, we eventually came across the remains of what must have been the cache. Not in the obvious hidey hole that fitted the clue but higher up (and safer) in the long grass. Anyway, hope you don't mind, we had some spares & replaced the cache & logbook in the same spot as we found the remains. TFTC,
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

We were near by for the week and this bay was a regular for evening fishing. Wasn't til our second visit that we realised that it was the location for one of our target caches.
Climbed all over the GZ a no cache to be found. Kept an eye out on the beach in case had been muggled or dislodged and become flotsam but to no avail alas..this one to be done again another time when we this way. The bay is well worth the visit, really nice spot TFTC : )

11-Jun-14
Beautiful picturesque spot. This seems to be a very old cache which is desperate need of maintenance. Log is waterlogged and useless. The lino has warped and faded almost completely. Dangerous climb even for adults. Be careful! Better to find it from the top not far in the hollow behind the sign. Greetings from Kellie and Gary from Western Australia.

23-Mar-14
DNF... An impressive pohutukawa but didn't spot the cache or any Orca stars today.

23-Mar-14
Decided to take a bit of time off from the hum and drum of work and go for a trip up the winter-less north and see if I could get a bit of a tan before the winter blues set in when I go back South to the winter-less Wellington[B)]Twisted

After doing a few caches this morning this was the next cache that was on my list of unfound caches, arriving near GZ we managed to find a carpark not too far from GZ and it was a short walk to the GZ.

Arriving at GZ I decided to clamber around the cache site and have a look at the higher roots of this wonderful Pohutukawa, bit low and behold after a short and nearly eventful experience of gravity and nearly fell from the bank nothing seemed to present itself, must be a bit blind today or was the fog in the sky and the tears in my eyes for this DNF making it a bit hard to find

Oh well give me something to come back to the next time I get around to coming back up to this wonderful part of you country.

Great spot for a cache, thanks for placing it here and maybe better luck next time.

(909) Decided to take a trip up the West coast with Matttuc76 and pick up some caches on the way. This cache really needs some maintenance. Log is wet and unusable. Have install a temp log in new sealed bag. Great spot for a cache. TFTC

Found it in grass above GZ. Added new log in sealed bag

#814 Such a lovely spot out here- this morning was beautiful! Cache was not where it should be according to the hint and was in a terrible state- the camo is almost off, the log book was soaked so I could hardly sign it and it was way off co-ords. Could do with some TLC! Thank you for bringing me to this beautiful spot though- I will definitely be back.

Took a while to spot this.

Logged as RAD together with renelm and aedk.

Found with renelm and Difool, logged as RAD to save log space, time and trees.

I am not much of a logwriter, so see renelms, and possibly Difools, log for details.

21-Oct-13
I actually saw this while trying to keep up with aedk and Difool, but thought at first it was a discarded can.. coming back, it clearly looked like and was the cache... There is a great hiding spot just 1m to the left of the cache (when looking at the water), but we left it where we found it - yes, it is there - wet, but it's there.

Found at 12:12 - #4170 - together with aedk and Difool - logged as RAD to save space and time

Sure the cache isn't where it should be, but our coordinates have been off with a few caches today. Found in grass above where we believed GZ to be. Contents and logbook soaked. Left as we found as appeared to have been there for some time

24-Aug-13
Found on 2nd attempt as boat decided to pull in during our 1st search. Found eventually, but not where clues indicated. Was up the bank in the grass with top not on properly. Log was soaked, we etched our visit. Appeared it had been sitting there for some time

There were no orcas for us today as we visiting this site. We had just completed the EarthCache down the road and had to stop at this cache on our way back to the main road. Were we parked the car was just near the hut with 'pay the hole in the wall' written one it, for people to pay for the camping ground and we had to wonder about how many people would actually do that.

We headed off to the cache, admiring the massive sand dunes across the bay. We also found it odd to see cars parked on the beach. That just don't happen in Victoria in Australia, we're we are from. Imagne the rust!!!

The cache was a relatively easy find, I signed the og and we were soon on out way, thanks for the cache MYTROX.

19-Jan-13
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

We were visiting family in Whangarei, together with HOLE-IN-ONE2 from the UK. Decided to go for a day trip up North. A really nice spot here (like most of the Hokianga), although a pod of orcas would have made it nicer! A quick find, thanks for the cache!

What a great little bay - here just as sun going down, water sparkling, no orcas and no cache??? Did find suitable spots and had a good 'poke around' but wondering if cache has washed away in recent weather?? Will get my friend Butchie bum to check it out as she lives locally and is often out caching and checking caches and walking enjoying her/this bit of paradise Smile

Had a quick look here but it was getting dark and I left the torch in the car. It had been a very long day (now 8pm, having started in Auckland at 4am) so I just figured I'd leave it this time and find it another time.

I searced quite some time for the cache.
Reread the hint and description for several times.
I walked away and came back to hope that a new approach would help.
And it did, but the cache was not in it's place anymore, it was on the ground.
It was unharmed and I logged our visit and have hidden it again, in I hope the correct place.
