Find # 15983Off for a day trip, some shopping in Bendigo, then a wander down the Calder Hwy to grab a few caches and AdLabs.Ended up in Gisborne to kill a bit of time as my original plan was to be on Mount Macedon at dusk. Spent a good 20min here and came up empty handed.... after a PAF I managed the find.... boy my GPSr n phone were way off on this one.... think it might be time for a reset. SmileTFTC Team Ladava

Out with tupaimum. Windy and, cold but we found it. We tried to fix log.its falling apart

24-Jul-24
Found today with Mrs deshut, windy and cold day, luckily we are ladies of a certain age and we are invisible to most of the general population. Mrs deshut made the find thank goodness no room on the log sp we put on some blank paper which will do for a while. Thanks for the cache

21-Jul-24
Very clever lots of muggles around have to wait log is full

18-Jul-24
After reading other peoples logs, I thought this was going to be quite a difficult find however it was about the second place I looked

15-Jul-24
Brilliant!! Beautiful old station tftc

30-Jun-24
Took us three times to find this one! It was a good one. Well done. Need more paper to sign

28-Jun-24
Well hidden cache, almost gave up but I was stuck here for another 30 minutes so I had the time to persevere! Smile

22-May-24
Heading down to the City for an event this evening. Departed the train at Gisborne to complete the local AdLab and grab this cache. I scoped out the general area and spotted what I thought was the cache. To maintain some sort of stealth, I decided to complete the AdLab first and then come back in between trains, allowing passengers to leave the area.Coming back to the station, there was nobody in sight, so I was able to go directly to where I thought the cache was and luckily for me I placed my hand directly on the cache which now carries my scribble. Thanks Team Ladava for placing this Traditional Cache, enhancing the game board and adding to our enjoyment.

09-May-24
Took some time but we finally found it.A favourite from us.Having finished our appointments back at home we set off this morning to return to Bendigo where we had left our van. It was a big day with caches and Ad Labs on our way, but they took us to some good things we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Team Ladava.**SKI Pair****

Found after visiting the Gisborne Old Time Market for the first time. There was a muggle hanging around, but we managed to do a bit of hunting when she walked on to the train platform. Andy found the cache in the first place he looked. Managed to sign the log and replace the cache before muggle was wandering around out the front again. TFTC Smile

27-Apr-24
Found with Grubbs1337 and ITWimdy. ??A great day out with Dad and his mate. Thanks for the cache ??

I was on my way to the Campaspe River for a long weekend away camping. There are two routes from my place. One via the Calder Freeway and one via the Northern Highway. Well technically there are three as I managed to combine both so I could cache in between.I spent much longer than I expected searching for this one as my GPS sent me to a different spot initially. Eventually I searched other locations and soon found the sneaky hide.A big thanks goes to Team Ladava for taking the time to add Can You Hear the Steam Whistle? to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.-The nominees for the [**2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/2023-victorian-cache-of-the-year-awards/) have been announced. Tasmania Trip Day 13. Travel Day, Geelong to Canberra. After a great night one the boat and even a good nights sleep, I was ashore way too early and beginning to drive home to Canberra. After refueling I started out. I did not go directly and took quite a detour via the final three western(ish) counties in Victoria I have not cached in before. This leaves Melbourne and several east of Melbourne around to almost Orbost to do one day. Seeing the heavy traffic streaming towards Melbourne in the other direction was odd in the foggy pre-dawn darkness. Eventually it got light and I reached some caches to do. All in all it went smoothly with some interesting places visited and I even made it home eventually, just before dark. All in all a great multi leg journey over almost a month. Now onto some Canberra activities.I stoped and had a poke around this station between trains. It took a little longer than it should have, but it was there and I signed the log. Thanks for the cache Team Ladava46170.9 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Plymouth Benchmark A#55**Albida**

Ok last one for day thanks for the find and quick find

31-Dec-23
I had nothing to do today, the last day of the year, and with the weather great I decided to head out Gisborne way to hunt some long solved puzzles, and ancient multi and anything else that looked good on the way. This one fitted into the "anything else" category. Parked right opposite GZ and started the hunt and had the cache in hand very quickly - about the second place I looked! It was a bit damp inside so sat for a while enjoying the cool sunshine whilst the log dried and a good number of muggles walked past! I had a break in the stream off muggle and replaced just before another one came past! Thanks to Team Ladava for this one, fantastic hide!

17-Dec-23
It has been awhile since I have spent a morning out caching as life has gotten it the way of a lot of things lately.Picked a beautiful Melbourne morning to head out and after checking the map I decided to head out to Gisborne and surrounds to try and find a few up that way, there are so many possibilities and directions to head.Continuing along with my tour and Im now in New Gisborne I arrived at the station and being Sunday morning I was nice and quiet around here and I had the place to myself.Checked out the area and soon spotted the cache which is very unusual for me with these types of caches.I was able to sit down and add my name to the log.It has been a long time since I have found one of Team Ladava caches and of course it gets a favorite. Thanks Team Ladava TFTC.

02-Dec-23
Well what miserable wet day. Lets go caching as its my only day off. OMG what do I do these things. Anyway took me a bit to find this well thought of cache. Fits in well to the surroundings just a little different to the others. Great cache and had a ball. Just a bit wet. TFTC

05-Nov-23
bunadoorian and I were out today to pick up some solved caches and find some caches with large amounts of favourite points. As it was a lovely sunny day this was our second find the day. It was early so there were no muggles. We searched - and finally bunadoorian had his hands on the well camoed cache. TFTC and for bringing us here - Team Ladava.

05-Nov-23
Grub62 and I arrived at GZ on a quiet Sunday morning and lucky it was as we needed the time to look for this cache. eventually I noticed an anomaly which proved to be the cache. Well camoed and well constructed and very well hidden. This all means I will have to concede another of my treasured favorite points. TFTC.

04-Nov-23
Today I decided to try and find this cache after lots of peoples good reviews. Luckily I didn't come a a busy time but there were still lots of muggles. So I deliberately had a shoelace untied and "did my shoelace." This was quite difficult but I eventuality got it. TFTC!

24-Oct-23
Thats a very clever camo.. I took a seat and fixed my shoes while grabbing the cache during a quiet period... FP added

08-Oct-23
So as I pretended to stretch my hamstring in-between muggles, I was able to grab this nifty cache. It is to be noted that my GPS was not behaving, so it was swiftly dismissed, and a systematic search prevailed in-between those stretches until this cache was found.

01-Oct-23
No luck on our first try. We were "on the phone" trying to organise "Johnny's surprise birthday party" by meeting at Southern Cross... but Peter wasn't helping, so we had to go home with no success

19-Aug-23
There were a surprising number of muggles here today so i needed to be quite sneeky. I hopped out of the geomobile and pretended to be on a call while i sat and stood and sat and wandered around gz. Infact i was getting into the role so well i almost forgot that i was meant to be searching. Soon enough though there was a little break in passing traffic and i had the cache in hand. I popped it home in the next break. I then pretended i had another call from whoever i was there to pick up saying they had missed the train. Suitably annoyed i stormed back to the geowagon and drove off. Logie winning performance i reckon.

My Day
After a busy month in July fulfilling the twenty eight day streak challenge and collecting the gold souvenir i took a break this month. But after two and a half weeks without a find i was champing at the bit, ready to get out there again.
Today i had to travel to Gisborne on other business which wouldnt take too long so i decided to add a bit of caching to the plan. Once my meeting was wrapped up i headed out for a little cache tour of the town and nearby areas. The weather was fine, the bush full of beautifully flowering wattle and the geopooch and i were both loving it. In the end we found eleven caches with one DNF and two Did Not Attempts. A great day thanks to all the COs.

26-Jul-23
I had a number of plans for today's geocaching run. They included :-
20 caches in Macedon Ranges LGA.
12+ caches in Moorabool LGA.
12+ caches in Melton LGA.
CITO, Event and Tree Attribute in new LGA.
2002 old geocache.
And most importantly - Geodetic Survey Way Point.

Not sure about Melton & Moorabool LGA numbers, will have to recheck LGA borders but had a great day with 41 finds in total, in lots of different environments. Highlight would have to be Mt Macedon.

This cache wasn't on my list, but after talking to a local who asked what we were doing at the CITO and used to do geocaching told me thus was a great geocache.

First find after the CITO. With good coordinates, it was a quick find in the first place I looked.

Thanks for the cache Team Ladava

Awesome hide. Pure luck that I found it almost instantly. Very well camouflaged.

Log is full and I had to write on the back.

TFTC!

26-Jun-23
Did again with a friend who really loved it. thank you!

13-Jun-23
Great hiding TFTC

12-Jun-23
What was my strategy? Truth is, I didn’t have one. I drove up on this quiet Sunday and managed to put my hands on it almost straight away… I wish I had planned a strategy though because now I sit here in wait for two muggles to disappear so I can place it again…… as I write this, one down, one to go TFTC

13-May-23
Fantastic cache! Pretending to do some stretching to avoid any suspicion, nicely camouflaged tftc.

23-Apr-23
I searched for this unsuccessfully years ago.
Today I returned with BoabTree, and her sharp eyes found it very quickly.
We were out for a Sunday drive on a gorgeous autumn day, and this was like the icing on the cake.
A favourite point for a very well constructed and devious cache. Thanks Team Ladava.

23-Apr-23
Out and about with Echidna44 and our Muggle Husbands, this cache is just brilliant. Team Lavada's caches are ones I always look forward to doing, as they are interesting and challenging. This one did not disappoint. Great camo here.

23-Apr-23
Cool cache. Blends in really well.

17-Apr-23
Chook had to go to Gisborne today, and stopped by this cache on the way back. Expecting to have to either dodge muggles, or return another day, she happened to rock up when not another soul was around. The stars were certainly aligning because she happened to spot something unusual first up, and sure enough it was the cache. Very clever indeed, and we can see why it gets its favourite points. Of course we are adding another one to the tally. Cache quickly returned and by the time she walked back to the car, a train had arrived and patrons started descending on the car park. Talk about perfect timing! TFTC Team Ladava.

26-Mar-23
Really great hiding spot

Great little micro,TFTC

26-Mar-23
Found with Rarebreed and NXTXN. Tricky one. Love the camouflage.

I couldn't believe it when my ex suggested meeting at The Whistlestop for coffee & passing over of our teenager. Knowing he'd be late, I arrived a few minutes early & headed over the road!! It's been a novelty this morning to have an accurate GPS, so this was a quick find. Totally loved the ingenuity. I was late for coffee anyway cause I had to wait for the Bendigo bound train Many thanks

A quick detour for this sneaky find! TFTC!

On way to Bendigo for the weekend. Bit searched for about 10 mins and keep trying till finally and finding your cache fav from me. Team Ladava, thank you so much for placing it.

23-Jan-22
First find on our week away. Pretty easy on a Sunday morning. Tftc

13-Jan-22
Finally I had the opportunity to grab this cache without muggles. Well worth the effort thanks for effort you go to in creating these fantastic caches.

I grew up in New Gisborne and have spent many hours around this station as a kid and even a day as a fire fighter working to save the rest of the buildings when the goods shed burnt down.

Thanks for the cache

31-Dec-21
I don’t hear the steam train whislte cos I’m Deaf
Easy find
Thanks

17-Dec-21
Nicely hidden. Great camo.

30-Oct-21
Hmmm sadly Zoe and I have not found this cache.
Really stuck.....first DNF that has made us sad. Also lots and lots of debris and broken branches due to recent high winds. Not sure if this created an issue or not.

18-Jul-21
Woohoo, neat hiding spot!! Very fun.

12-Jul-21
My second attempt, this time successful . Benefit of the times...no one catching trains at the moment...being an old Gisborne girl, live this old station

08-Jul-21
Great find

26-Jun-21
Very cool! And a convenient spot for someone just passing through. Thanks!

26-Jun-21
Quick grab as I waited for the train! Thanks.

08-May-21
Very cool hide. TFTC

03-May-21
Good find.
Great spot.

13-Apr-21
I've been meaning to have a look for this one for a while and happened to find myself nearby today. I first looked for some of Team Ladava's signature hides but didn't see anything in those styles. I then had to wait out a couple of people who were getting picked up out the front of the station and took that opportunity to step back and look at gz from a wider perspective and it was then that I spotted something that looked a little bit different but still looked like it belonged. Once the coast was clear, I headed back in and sure enough had the cache in hand. Another clever hide that also highlights a bit of local history, thanks for the cache Team Ladava.

11-Feb-21
No I can’t (hear the steam whistle) but we found the cache!! Tricky too.

06-Feb-21
Am quite certain I am in the right spot as I read logs back to 2012 lol to help me but just csnt seem to find it

30-Jan-21
Good fun! Quiet Saturday arvo and geokids helped us with our stealth... And we have decided to reward ourselves with a drink at the Whistlestop over the road. Thanks for bringing us here!

07-Jan-21
TFTC! Great camo Smile

01-Jan-21
Clever hide almost got caught by muggles. TFTC.

01-Jan-21
Be wary of the muggles. Pretty cool find thx

29-Oct-20
My Camo was mask wearing & sunglasses. Not sure if that helped me locate the cache as I was on the dark for a few minutes. TFTH

21-Sep-20
We found it. Second time lucky.

20-Sep-20
What a fantastic cache! Took me a little while to find but finally found it. Clever hide.
TFTC!

15-Aug-20
This was an unexpected easy find for us! We sat almost on top of this cache while we enjoyed our takeaway coffee and cake from Baringo over the road. Due to Level 3 restrictions very few muggles about and a welcome distraction for us during difficult times. Bonus Wonder of the World find and National Geocaching Day souvenir as well. What a find!!!

08-Aug-20
I am told this one is no longer accessible due to upgrades at the station

08-Aug-20
I suspect the previous log is based on invalid information

08-Aug-20
I believe the notification justifying the disabling was invalid

05-Jul-20
After walking around and around thinking we checked all the possible places - we finally found it- just required a little extra attention to detail! Not to much muggle traffic due to trains being replaced by coaches. Awesome hide!

04-Jul-20
Good hiding spot! Found it after a few minutes

19-Jun-20
Certainly heard plenty of bells and whistles, as a Melbourne bound train arrived while we were beginning the of the search. After the few commuters dispersed we were able to have a look and putting two and two together we identified what could be a very well constructed cache. A so it was !!

Many thanks Team Ladava for a great hide.

29-Mar-20
Great cache, hiding in plain sight!

14-Mar-20
Struggled to find it, but we’ll be back!

15-Dec-19
Wow. A tricky one. Thanks.

05-Nov-19
Just when we started, a train arrived. But the passengers are fare enough and we could find the tricky hide easily. Tftc.

26-Oct-19
A cold, wet and windy day down this way today, so the muggle factor was nil. That made looking at strange angles etc. easy. SL at 4.20pm Love your crafty work. #6559 TFTC Team Ladava

18-Sep-19
When we arrived we thought that we could not have come at a worse time. Many kids heading to school and many commuters heading to the railway station. However, in hindsight it may have been a good time as there were so many people that two more did not stand out nor draw attention. Accurate coordinates and an interesting anomaly in the structure led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Team Ladava for a well designed and well hidden cache. It earns a favourite from us.

24-Aug-19
Yep, I can hear the train but the whistle sound has changed a little. Driving home after a day of caching at the Camel's Hump (DNF) I was determined to still make a find in the area. Late Saturday afternoon meant it was relatively quiet at GZ, and with accurate coords I made an almost immediate find.
Thanks Team Ladava - a FP from me for a very suitably camouflaged cache.

26-Jul-19
Met here with Claybol and Jtnsilo for a caching day. Found it on the third or fourth attempt! Nice hide team Lavada! TFTC

11-Jul-19
Find number 7405 at 11:51:09 am
A quick cache in between jobs, been here once before but it was too busy, today was nice and cold and quiet.
Looked around a bit before I finally spotted that which was unique and stood apart.
Nice one guys Smile
**Thanks for placing this cache Team Ladava**
