Had a long and hard look , stomped across the salt marsh but thankfully kept our feet dry. No actual stump, we think the cache may have moved in the last wet season. Big mystery!
We spent about 45 minutes searching but took into account that it had been raining for the past month. We’ll try again when it’s dry! make sure to bring mozzie repellent and go up into the estate to get there. Also the “stump” doesn’t exist anymore to our knowledge.
The lack of traffic during the holidays means that I can get further afield after work, so, today, I headed to Hemmant. I searched for this one for about an hour without luck. I even made two PAFs. Still no luck. Could the CO please check this one. Thanks
Found the log book a little worse for wear. Signable, but not deciferable. The next finder might want to bring a spare log book. And gumboots! Tftc
Found it! Tftc :^) Geo daughter did not want to get her feet wet, clever girl!
Arrived a GZ and picked our way carefully across the marsh Thankfully it had been rather dry so gumboots not needed today although Bushman's was! We found the cache after looking at the hint. Technically the hint is still correct although not exactly what we expected. TFTC
Didn't manage to find the archived cache I was looking for, but this one was a good consolation prize. TFTC
Nikid1 & I were on our regular caching Thursday & headed over to Wynnum today.
We certainly made this one much harder than it needed to be. Firstly we parked further away than we needed to (not that a bit of extra walking isn't good for us!). We did find a nice dry path to the area we needed to be in tho but then we proceeded to wander around in circles looking at the same places for quite a while only to discover we were in the completely wrong area - you do not need to be anywhere near the barbed wire!
Nikid1 eventually discovered the cache, log signed & cache replaced as found with some extra camo to hopefully make it not so difficult for the next finder.

KerriMG and I struggled here. Luckily the area was nice and dry so our shoes remained clean and dry. Reading previous logs of how the clue gave away the location we walked in circles trying to find this stump with no luck. After being eaten by numerous mozzies I was nearly ready to call it quits when I kicked over a piece of rubbish and there was the cache. Yeah! Log signed and some natural camo applied (I think the stump in question is no more).
thanks teamxxxx.
thanks teamxxxx.
Well we walked and found the little walkway and jump to get to the geocache, then because it was raining we went around and Brough grass. Then we eventually found the geocache but then realised we left our pen on the train! So we will probably come back another day with gum boots too!
Went on the wrong side of the marsh but got there in the end in the pouring rain, first time but was definitely fun!
Smilie #3474
Having been out of town when all the new caches were published we thought we would just work on a few extra smilies for our map.
This cache has been an isolated green spot on our map for quite some time now so it was time to change it's colour.
Parked within 50 metres & a quick find followed.
A little swampy due to recent rains but not too bad.
Signed & replaced as found.

With a free morning, I decided to scout about further South from home, and find some caches on both sides (good side and dark side ) of the Brisbane River.
Wandered over through the salt marsh to make a quick find. This cache adds to our total of 2040 smilies, thanks teamxxxx for showing us this spot.
Feel free to discover our trackable code TGQNRV

I needed an O for my November challenge. As there were two in close proximity here I figured my chances were good of finding at least one of them. The first one eluded me. I will have to have a better look at a later date. But this one I found quite easily and luckily avoided any mud. As I was leaving two council guys on quad bikes rode in and starting spraying the area near the cache so my timing was excellent. TFTC teamxxxx
It was 2012 when I was last here. Picking a rainy day and accessing from the wrong side of the creek meant it was a bit of a fail. I have, intelligently, looked at a map since then and sussed out the best place to approach from.
This geocache wasn't one I planned to find today, but it was my last on the map in the northern bayside sort of area, so why not? Even with my knowledge of where to park, the GPSr still took me to a road that didn't exist. Although there I did see two horseriders doing their thing - whatever they call it. Maybe it's just called horseriding?
Finally at the right spot and an extended dry period meant the area was bone dry. Like, cracked mud and crunchy grass dry. I did note you could use the fence though if the place was flooded and you like dry shoes. For me though, I just strolled the couple of dozen metres to the goal zone.
A quick look around and the likely hide was spotted. It's more a case of 'build your own stump' now, but there's no others in the area. I signed the logbook and replaced. Now, realising how close I was to Bulimba Creek, went for a very dry and enjoyable little explore along the banks in the late afternoon sun. A lovely spot here, thanks for the geocache too teamxxxx

This was a funny one. It was not diffcult to find this container but to come to this place was interesting.
After jumping around a bit , the phone GPSr eventually settled making this a nice quick find. Found at 11.30 am on Friday 13th February 2015. TFTC.
Quick find after I found how to enter this area without getting toooo wet. Straight to it when I got to GZ. TFTC
GPS almost out of batteries, but we managed to find it.
We tried to take the clean way - didn't read the gumboot requirements until too late.
Kids got a bit muddy, I'm pretty sure it was deliberate and could have been avoided though.

I was here 10 months ago, had a hasty search without success, but today was a good day to come back.
After recent heavy rains the access to the GZ required some negotiating but I managed to keep my feet dry.
The smartiephone lead me to the same spot than last time but this time around I didn't enter the search rightaway. Instead took out the hint and opened the eyes. Rather helpful, indeed: see, some distance away there was something than matched and was worth checking out. [^] Just begs the question how on earth did I manage to miss it last time around?
Well, this or that, it's now uncovered, log signed, and this one finally converted into a smilie. That's what counts.
The old log is still in its old ziplock bag in the container as a sloggy mess, and a new log in a new bag. Otherwise all good and clean here. TFTC, Teamxxx!

I arrived today, pleased to know it had been sunny for quite a while and the ground would be drier than the last time I was here. There were work muggles around, so I donned my own orange hi-vis disguise and set off over the nearest gate. Following the fenceline around took me to GZ very quickly and easily, to my surprise. I was distracted by a few likely spots around and went back and forth through fences, but soon trusted the coords and found what I needed. It was in good shape and looks likely to keep surviving so TFTC. I was really glad not to have to do any creek jumps today!
Found it. Logged this after doing "on your way". Went too far and had to come back, but proved to be best way in.

I am glad that the weather has been warmer and drier the past week or two, as by reading past logs I would have come terribly under prepared for this one (and the other puzzle final nearby!). That did not however stop me from taking FAR too long to find where this one was hidden! I too was enchanted by the 'all too obvious' possible location for a GZ, and looked in every nook and cranny endangering life and limb (not -but there were lots of spiders and creepy crawlies!) eventually I trusted the Gps instead of my cache spidey-senses and soon found what I was looking for. No trouble with the cache and the logbook is still serviceable.
A nice little hide teamxxx well done.ou had me guessing until the end!

Found it had to get recreational because I went In the wrong way so I put a log across and walked along to the other side. Did a swap put everything back. Happy hunting everyone: )
Access to the cache on my second attempt was dry all the way... mosquito's plentiful... cache also dry
Visiting a friend that lives very close so I stopped for these two caches on the way. Found first easy and walked to this one. Used the fence to get across mud. I don't think k I have been the first to do this by the mud tracks before me. Found easy and signed log which is nearly destroyed. Needs new log. Mozzies are BAD here. Got out of there quick smart. Tftc
It was another cache that brought us to the area but when we saw where the coordinates went it really interested us (me in particular). I went on ahead but I couldn't find it straight away and then the mosquitoes found me so I asked Mrs SearchEngine for the hint and I thought she said "dumped" so that took me in the wrong direction of course. It allowed her just enough time to catch up and point out the cache from about 10 metres away! Very sneaky of her!
Tried both sides but too wet without suitable footwear. Will claim the cache next visit.
When parking the car nearby, the family called, missing me. Nevertheless, decided to have a quick dash to to see if I'd be lucky. Took the long route in, behind the fence as it was nice and dry there.
At the GZ, went straight to the hint to speed things up, but could not spot anything clearly similar. Poked around a few places but came back empty handed some five minutes later.
There's some construction work starting in front of the cache, so the access route may change slightly in the future. It is likely to go behind the fence, rather than taking a shortcut straight through. Hopefully the construction doesn't impact the cache itself.
Thanks for the walk with almost dry joggers after this, teamxxx!

I had a bit of a look earlier at this one and decided I needed gumboots due to the rain from the storm last night.
I went on to do the other cache nearby and came back to this one parking a bit closer.
Gumboots on and stick to ward off the wriggly things, I went in pursuit of this cache very gingerly.
A little muddy in places, very like the wetlands on the other side of Brisbane without the salt pan.
Spied an area that looked like where a cache was hidden and soon had a cache in hand.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks teamxxxx All good with this cache

Who would have thought - in the middle of nowhere 7 others cachers. Thanks for the cobwebs!
This morning there was a small group taking on a few cache in the area before the International Day of Geocaching event taking place not far away. The group was made up of barbbowman, fasted59, teamdfl, IolantheK, and Gullivers Travels 54.
On return from getting another cache nearby we noticed an additional car near to where we parked and wonder just who we might find. Turns out it was Mudstalker, ever shall a geocacher be found hiding in the bushes.

This cache was found as a joint effort from a group of geocachers who were locating caches in the area, before heading off to the International Day event. TFTC.
Out and about early this morning with teamdfl, and we met up with fasted 59, barbbowman, Gullivers Travels54 and OrionJ to grab a few caches in the area before the International Geocaching Day Event at Colmslie Beach Reserve. Happily it was a dry walk to GZ today. On the way we came across a fellow cacher called MudStalker. Nice to meet you out here in the field. The cache was a quick find. TFTC, teamxxxx.
4th of a few on our way to International Geo-caching day event
we have a convoy now ... gullivers travels, iolanthek, teamdfl, orionj, fasted and myself
not as much fun this visit as the ground was dry

Picked a good day to search and avoided wet feet. Must have searched in circles for a good fifteen minutes. I was stumped by the hint and eventually laid eyes on the cache.
This was interesting getting to this one as it was quite wet and soggy in places. Did find cache after a little looking. TFTC
Quite interesting getting to this one, rather soggy underfoot After a few minutes the cache was found. Logbook is quite wet, this one needs some TLC from the CO. Cheers teamxxxx
I love the sound of shee Oaks in the wind. The book is wet and needs loving attention
Out clearing a few in the area. Parked close by and smiled when I saw where we had to go. I immediately thought of Nyssaflutterby and one of her caches and then noticed she was the last one here.
Made our way across like everyone else and quickly found the cache. Logbook appears to have been wet, but was able to find a spot to sign.

Found this cache during a day out caching with Nyssaflutterby after i had finished work for the day. We pulled up at this cache once we realised the right place to park and looked out across the marsh. We were wondering what to do when i mentioned just climbing along the fence. I assume we looked hilarious! Nyssaflutterby took a photo of me which i hope doesn't surface proving how hilarious we looked. We proved that we had great balance as we got to the other side with no wet feet at all. We spent quite a while looking for the cache and i eventually found it a few metres away from where our devices were telling us to search. Thanks for the cache Teamxxxx
This cache was a tonne of fun Out and about with Net88 for our weekly caching adventure. We drove as close to the cache as we could manage, looked over towards GZ and had a bit of a giggle. Well this was going to be fun! To avoid the boggy marsh we took the high road and crossed over via the fence. With dry feet we then continued through the She-oaks to go find the cache. After wandering around for a bit we resorted to ready the hint. Hmm, more searching, more searching. Oh look, there it is! Net88 had finally found the cache. We signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Then the fun part of getting back to Spangle.

I found myself very nearby but completely clueless regarding approaches, and then GC decided to go offline on my phone, leaving me with only a general target. Tried going down a path from the north, but decided it wouldn't work. Went back and down past the power tower, only to find I was on the wrong side of the creek. Back to the first path and all along to the river, to find I still had water between me and the cache! With my shoes and socks saturated already, I decided to call it quits. I guess approaching from the north and/or east is not the go!
RN Rooster, Annie Lady Bug and I had decided to do some caching together today in the Wynnum or Cleveland area and coming from 3 different directions we decided on this spot first.
When I neared this one I kicked myself for leaving my gumboots at home, but as we say a cache is a cache to be had so we went ahead with it.
I spied a likely route to GZ with minimal wet feet and was pleased that for the majority our feet stayed dry except for the bottoms.
Closer to GZ we realised that were on the wrong side of the fence but at least we had dry feet and we were able to get through the fence which was boiling hot metal, but that obstical over we closed in the remaining few metres and started our search.
Annie Lady Bug claimed the prize for FTF in our group and we checked out the contents before signing the log.
On the return to the cars A. L. Bug decided to take a more direct route and found that it was definitely wetter that route.
Thanks teamxxxx TFTC SL TNLN

Back again ... This time with the serious boots on!
A triple assault today with Couchmen and HNRooster.
We waded across what seemed to be the driest part of the marsh and then realised we needed to be on the other side of the fence. The metal was piping hot so I slid through the bars very carefully!
Cache was an easy find but the log was cactus. We signed on a page from my notebook and left it as a makeshift logsheet.
I took the short but wet route back across the spongy marsh grass to the dirt road we'd parked on.
TFTC teamxxxx, neat hide.

Will keep it for a day when my feet are more suitably attired!

At first we tried to access from the park side. Bad move, compass said 25m over the water and we couldn't cross.
Once we accessed from salt swamp site, we found it easy.

We were very glad it hadn't rained recently as we carefully approached this cache. Part of the ground were still a bit damp, but not too bad. A bit of hopping and jumping had us back to the car mostly dry.
Thanks, Robmc.

It was just a tad swampy getting over to this one though it could have been far worse in wetter times.

# 810. It was rather strange walking across such spongy vegetation to get to this one. Wouldn't like to attempt it without gumboots after heavy rain. It was a relatively quick find and then we gingerly skirted our way back to the car, and on to a nearby cache. TFTC teamxxxx
Out and about on the dark side of town picking up a few caches on this beautiful but windy day. This was our second for the day. Oh, a bit wet under foot but we used a useful item to get closer to GZ. GPSr took us straight to GZ but for some reason we missed it, expand our search, no luck and went into the open again to get a better reading. Oh back to where we were and this time it didn't 'stump' us. Great cache and hide, log a bit damp but ok to sign.

Well, my caching shoes have holes in them and it was a cold morning. So the ony sensible thing to do was the salt water shuffle and keep those feet dry. The mud on the rails tells me I'm not the first one to do this!
With no satelite reception at GZ under the thick trees, it took me a little while to find. TFTC teamxxxx. Ps love your brew!

It was hammering down with rain as I headed off to attempt this one. After sloshing my way across the playing fields I arrived nearish GZ with wet shoes and the mangroves to traverse. The creek between GZ and I was swollen and I debated attempting to cross on a small log I found nearby, but decided to leave it for another day. Maybe I'll work out a better approach point and get closer than 20m to the cache. Until next time..
Having no luck following the GPS, I changed the map view to Google Satellite and quickly found it. Found with jamurchie, geobub and geopup.
After balancing the beam there and back and not getting wet found the cache with ease.
We changed our minds a couple of times regarding the approach angle to this one , but Open Street Maps gave us the necessary information to make the logical decision after all this rain .
As we got closer to where we needed to be, we firstly realised that we could have driven to within about 50m of the prize , and then we spotted a couple on pushbikes heading towards us from the opposite direction. We met them at the fenceline where they asked us if we were geocachers [?]. We introduced ourselves to Difflocks … hi Francois (sorry if i've spelt that wrong) and Christine, nice to meet you
We all walked into GZ, through quite a bit of water, and soon had the cache in hand, thanks to the hint . After signing the very damp log, chatting some more and exchanging GPX files wirelessly on our 'flash' new GPS'rs , we said our goodbyes, and moved on to the next one before the mozzies found us. Thanks again teamxxxx

After missing a turn and ending up in the mud, Christine and I back tracked to the correct location and in the process met Janine and Jason, discovering that we are looking for the same cache and enjoying the same adventures. We teamed up to face the watery swamp, which at the same time got rid of the sticky mud on my cycling shoes-yippee. Jason found the cache no problems and we all signed it.
Christine and I had a great morning looking for caches on our mountain bikes and hope to do it it very soon again and meet more great people like Janine & Jason along the way.
GREAT FUN!!
