# 3817. Really enjoyed walking around this cemetery although there were so many waypoints to visit along the way. Couldn't see the clover leaf shape from ground level either sadly. I do enjoy visiting these historic places. Finally got to GZ and found the nicely hidden cache safe in its comfortable hiding spot. TFTC Robmc.

This series has been taking up prime positions around Sale for too long. Time for something new for the locals to do.
Thanks to all the cachers who have helped with maintenance of this series over the years.
Thanks, Robmc.

A lot of walking frustrated by the low ratings for a 10 stop cache but in the end I enjoyed it. Don't be put off by some if the difficult to read ones. Maybe just skip over them and if necessary go back later.

Today was the third day of our excursion out of Tasmania touring from Melbourne to Canberra and return via Gippsland. We visited a number of towns and areas today between Sale and Bairnsdale and we were lucky enough to find some caches along the way. Despite being overcast at times and some very infrequent showers, we have had an excellent day. This was a really enjoyable multi. There are so many interesting historical features in this cemetery and the multi enabled us to see some of them. We appreciated the additional information about each of the people for each of the waypoints. It was also interesting to look at adjacent headstones but we didn't have the time to wander widely through the cemetery. The information was obtained easily at each waypoint and the cache was a quick find. The multi took us less than an hour. TFTC Robmc.

04-Feb-12
This one earned a favorite from us. We loved the history provided and found the whole multi to be really interesting. Geoman tried finding his ancestors. Its a good feeling to find the cache after putting in some effort. TFTC

Quess you like cemeteries or you don't and judging by how often it is found a lot of people obvously don't. We enjoyed the tour though. Certainly a lot of history Buried there. Thanks for taking the time to place this cache.

Wow what a great great cache.

We really loved chasing around the grave yard today checking out all the head stones. The wooden headstones were amazing.

Thank you so much Robmc for a great multi cache.

We *Highly Recommend* this cache to cachers.

We dropped of Skippy TB for the next cacher. He just fit into the cache.

Well, we have never visited so many graves in one day.
We thought we would have been a bit quicker but "Dot Emma",
our trusty GPS, kept running out of battery so we had to try to
charge her up enough to get us to the next W/P.
Found the cache at 7:17pm and had to fight off the Earwigs
They decided to camp under me while signing the log Surprised

Having dropped CrobDes off for her meeting, it was time to head back to town – but not before nabbing a cache or two of course Wink. This was first on our list and although we took the 'lazy' way around [8)], we still found all the clues before finally arriving at the final location for a nice, easy find at 10:20. What an interesting journey and it was great to see where the fabled Angus is buried, not to mention those poor pilots who died while doing exactly what they were supposed to do. I seem to remember hearing about that tragedy; very sad indeed.

Took pathtag, Left Daffy Duck, SL and our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks for another informative journey Robmc and Brothersinfluence.

What a fabulous cemetery.
With graves dating back so far it is full of interesting places and faces Smile
The tour was a delightful amble in the midday sunshine.
Yep!! I'd worn me hat, thankyou Smile

And first up what else !!
Another Angus sighting Big Grin
I've seen where he lived, I've seen just about every river crossing he ever made and every place he camped and now I've been to his last resting place Big Grin
I guess the Angus trail ends here.
I'll bet his name crops up again tomorrow somewhere on me travels Smile

The rest of the graves were no less interesting and after fiinding the final location and the cache I was left with an air of mystery.
Who were they ?
I guess I'll have to do my own research on that topic Big Grin

Found by Mary & David at 0905. Mary was in her element here, and loved every stop. Her only regret was that you didn't have more waypoints. Wonderful examples of symbolism, graveyard architecture and stories of triumph and tragedy. Our thanks again to Robmc and Brothersinfluence.

We found this cache as the 32nd of 43 on our Sale or No Sale Tour with Alansee, Pprass and Acts2YouthGroup. Finally my second cache find in Sale after finding Duck and Cover way back in 2004 as our 47th find. There would be a lot more on the books by the end of the day. Dividing and conquering assisted in our hunt here and whilst Alansee and Pprass were off on a trek to one particularly tricky point, Acts2 and I had compiled enough of a set of co-ordinates to have a crack at the cache. Thanks from D B-A.

Found in the company of pprass, Rabbitto and Acts2youthgroup on a fun but tiring caching day today. With the advantage of a group we split up to do this one and had the information reasonably quickly, although in a least one place bits were actually a bit hard to ascertain due to age and the angle of the late afternoon sun.

Nontheless we got there and soon made the find, thanks Robmc&BI. I agree with A2Y over the status of the person involved.

22-Nov-09
This was cache # 42 of 45 for the day, In the company of Alansee, pprass & Rabbitto, the cache was found at 18:50 on our tour of Gippsland. I always love a good cemetery Multi and this one turned out to be quicker than we thought it would be, my only note on this one is I see the local hero as a murderer not a founder. My thanks to Robmc and Brothersinfluence for the cache.

Found at 6.50pm GAFF5 in the company of Acts2YG, Alansee and Rabbitto on a very successful tour of east Gippsland.

This was going to be a tough and long one due to the number of questions and things to do - wait is this a Robmc cache? Well we decided to split up and do a couple of the questions each, but the one that p-pprass got was a tough one - you just could not read the year. So Alansee was enlisted to assist and we still couldn't get anywhere. The others were doing alright and suddenly the cache was found! The middle bit of that explanation will have to be filled in Rabbitto.

Thanks thanks to Robmc and Brothersinfluence for the cache and all of the research - love these type of caches.

Wish I'd followed the instructions more closely & brought a hat. But other than that it was great fun - both times. Yes, another second attempt find! When one person's reading & the other's doing the sums it's best to use the phonetic alphabet, lest Mike is mistaken for November (where the wrong spot nearly fits the clue!) A very easy find once I had the right co-ordinates though. Thanks for the fascinating history lesson.

Dropped in today for a Maintenance trip.
Everything is where it should be. (Nobody has moved!)
The walk takes a while, so with summer coming, please remember to wear a hat (not much shade here).

Thanks a lot to Robmc and Brothersinfluence for a great intro to caching. This was the last in the series for us (apart from the oft missing clocktower) and the perfect way to start.

Thaks again for the great caches!

Found it after an enjoyable stroll around an interesting place. Thanks to Robmc andbrothersinfluence
for putting together the Port of Sale series. My last one.
Took TB Left koala keyring.

Rocky Glen Grommets from South Australia were in the district for motocross (and a touch of caching of course!). Grom2 and Mum Grom, along with Bob Grom really enjoyed this one - the first of many Port of Sale caches today. This one was particularly moving at the final location - we loved the history lesson and plan to do a similar cache back home - we left behind our cocky PT as an extra thank you for the cache hunt as well as a TB, all the way from Yorke Peninsula (where we live) to hopefully move along soon. Thanks for this one!

13:23 -

7th cache day 7 of our caching/holiday trip around Victoria.

A very windy and wild day but we still enjoyed visiting Sale and the informative series which acted as our travel guide.

This was a fascinating walk (reminded me of a similar cache in a Paris Cemetery)
Again no one round probably due to the weather very enjoyable.

0909h. Got most of the clues. However, wrote down one wrong and was heading towards 4 green soliders so used my GeoSenses and missed the last few clues. Great place for a quiet stroll and learn the local history. Left TB to drag a few more to out town. T4TC.

Found by Studit with Braidster.
A lot of the names are still well known in the district.
Tried for FTF but got killed in the rush. Lucky I was at the cemetery.
Done over 2 days due to time constraints, but well worthwhile.
Error noted with William (now fixed) but the clue about the headstone gave it away.
I knew some of the sisters personally which made the find even better.
Took Unit 381 TB
Left GERF swaggie.
Thanks for a great cache.
