The Gone Fishn' series has been on the radar for quite some time but who wants to take it on solo. [xx(] Not this little black duck. So when I got an invite from mogni to start the trail on the 18th April I jumped at the chance. We were joined by SA Sewer Rats that day and we made it to the trail at 9.00 a.m. and cached till 5.30 p.m and got from #037 and conveniently finished at #245
We discovered quite a few things. It can be a bit boring. You need to leave the trail every now and then or go bonkers. [B)][B)] Stamping two names and writing one other takes a long time.
Only three days later and mogni and I are back again, this time with BratKat replacing SA Sewer rats and simply using the group name GOTHS to stamp the log books. Boy did that save some time.
This time we also left the trail for a big break in Maitland for a pub lunch and some other caching.[8)]
Unless otherwise stated it was a case of:
Stop- find cache - sign - move on. Repeat. [:o)]
After making it to #412 on the gone Fishn" it was time to turn for home, collecting a few more caches along the way.
The 'road' where the cache was had now been closed. You can still walk it. The cache container is now completely shattered from UV cancer and useless. The log was a thick blob of mouldy mush which couldn't be opened to sign. The photo of what is left of the cache will have to suffice. This one might need a rethink!
**Thanks Rocky Glen Grommets for this cache. **

Another big day out working towards a milestone. We arrived a GZ after dark to find the track now closed. Brisal5 hopped a fence and made the find.... a broken container with a rotten logbook nearby. We removed as it is CITO weekend and felt it was now just rubbish. I did have my closest encounter with a snake, which fortunately saw me as I didn't see it until it was heading underground.
Thanks to Rocky Glen Grommets from mogni

Mogni was chasing a milestone, so three of the GOTHs headed down Yorkes to 'Go Fishin'. To find this one, Brisal needed to climb a fence and retrieve the badly damaged cache. The road is now closed off and inaccessible, so this one will need to be archived. Brisal has the remnants of the cache.
Today we explored Maitland using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way with Roostaman and this was one of them. An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

I detoured down some back roads this arvo on me way from Maitland to Ardrossan
Endless views of wheat and barley,
some being harvested,
some awaiting their turn
This is not a place to toss a lit ciggie butt out the car window [:o]
Me ?? I don't smoke,
so no danger to me or the crops
Along me meanderings,
a large object,
looking like a concrete ark,
appeared to float in the golden fields [:o]
And next to it were parked several vehicles and a tanker !!
Er !!! DNF !!
Damn these muggles !!!

Was working nearby and waiting for a contact to arrive and what better way to pass the time than to find a nearby cache. It was a. Surprised to find this one so close by in such a remote location. Made a quick find but the container had no lid and was full of water. The log was paper Mache. Emptied out the container but not being in the usual geomobile I did not have access to the usual tools but I did have a new fish ziplock bag and a page hat could be used as a log so place this in the container and put the container upside down so no more rain can drown the replacement. Met the contact, complete the task and on to the next site for the rest of the day's work.
Cache does require some TLC.

The long weekend presented the perfect opportunity for my wige (Tounga) and I to plan a quick get away.
So, we booked some accommodation in Moonta and decided to cache the upper Yorke Peninsula.
We had a great time, finding 129 geocaches in all.
Thanks for hinding your cache Rocky Glen Grommets, we enjoyed it.
I apologise for the generic log.

Day 3 of our trip and once again the weather was perfect, its great to be back on the Yorke peninsula again and what was suppose to be a overnight stay ended up being a 2 nights and 3 days stay on the Yorke peninsula, we managed to find quite a few while here and today we had to head back earlier than planned after car issues, we look forward to returning back here to keep finding more caches, we thank all the COs for placing these caches for us to find and making our visit very enjoyable. After a three month caching hiatus it was time to get back into the swing of things. We are spending a few weeks in the Copper Triangle and what better place to start making some finds.
There is no need to enter private property to grab this one and if you follow close to the farmers fence line you can stay clear of the long grass
The cache container has broken (and we didn't have a spare with us) and at this stage all is dry inside, however it will need replacing before winter I think.
Many thanks for the hide Rocky Glen Grommets

There's a large no entry sign on gate & grass is way too long to ealk thru this time of year.
Out with Just Me Now on a rather wet and grey day, but we had fun anyway. We made this just about a drive by. Weren't sure how to get the cache that we could see from the car, but JMN climbed through the fence a bit further up and passed the cache for me to sign.
Thanks for the cache Rocky Glen Grommets.

A cold, wet day, with plenty of mud, some of it very slippery, gave a whole new dimension to a nice day out caching! We did have fun though. This was an area I visited quite frequently as a child when my father was a member of the nearby pistol club. Thanks Rocky Glen Grommets
It was a slightly damp, quite cool day so I decided to drive around the area grabbing some caches. As usual I took the hard way in, and had to retreat to find a more convenient way which of course was much easier, though I doubt anyone could drive in anymore. Once near GZ it was a very easy find. Unfortunately the lid is broken and water is in the cache however the log was dry. TNLN SL TFTC RGG
Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring Australia after having attended Oz Mega.
Today we toured from Maitland to Ardrossand and the countryside nearby. Lovely weather with no rain, with temps of approx 14degrees all day.
Loved seeing the towns and the impressive historic signs and walk trails.
Interesting location. Thats surely a big tank.

Needs a bit of maintenance, the containers lid is cracked and it was half full of water
So I was heading to Stansbury for an engagement party for two friends and thought, why not get some caches on the way! Packed with a change of clothes so I'd look at least presentable at the party and the GPS loaded with caches, I set off at 8am.
I started to go into the place I wasn't supposed to (whoops!) but then backtracked and went in the gap next to the field. Loved the old school tupperware from my youth! Brought back some memories of Mum's cooking! Good stuff! TFTC

Headed down the centre of Yorke Peninsular on two perfectly sunny days with Locus cache & RideTheGeoWalrus.
Fences don't usually stop me, but this one was particularly frustrating.
I was hoping that we didn't have to make a mad dash for the hospital with the teeth of the barb wire in-bedded in RTGW somewhere.
But he had it in the bag,not only did he get in but out of the enclosure with some amazing balancing skills.
Well done Peter & tanks for the cache RGG.

With the promise of fantastic spring weather and a long weekend allowing for an extended caching trip, locus cache, clare007 and I made our way to the central region of the Yorke Peninsula with the aim of cleaning out as many caches as we could.
Like a few other previous finders, the fence proved an unfortunate complication. We could see the cache, but with a well maintained series of barbs in the way we had a problem. Spotted a concrete fence post further down the line and managed to use and the pipe to leverage myself over without any barbed wire 'incidents', much to the relief of my companions! TFTC Rocky Glen Grommets!

What a fantastic couple of days! [^]
Sunday and Monday I enjoyed the company of RideTheGeoWalrus and Clare007 as we cached in an area that I have not cached in before.....therefore I enjoyed what is now a rare concept for me......not having to dodge previously found caches in order to find a cache to locus cache on
We found dust, mud, caches, views, trees and lots of laughs as we drove around and exhausted ourselves doing 115 smileys with 9 DNFs (although we went back later and got finds on several of these DNFs) and one event attended...with only us three there It's always good to CITO!
With CO's permissions, we also did quite a bit of cache maintenance as many logs were full or wet or both and several containers were broken or missing.
If any CO whose cache we visited really wants their old log back, then email me and I will try and work out which old log it is and return it to you.
So glad that we had the agile RideTheGeoWalrus with us to do the acrobatics required to obtain the cache!

This one tested us a bit - until we spotted it in plain view! Turns out there are TWO fences here & we were on the wrong side of one of them. The track between wasn't what you'd call drivable, even for a 4WD so we walked in for the signing.
South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.
Today we were traveling on the Yorke Peninsula, the original destination for this trip. We spent the whole day and went from Kadina to Pt Victoria. We went via as many of the towns as possible along the way. Everyone has done a great job of placing a great variety of caches and we had a great day.
Thanks.

Grabbed with Albida on our 2 week caching run from Canberra to, and around, different parts of South Australia including Loxton, Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Yorke Peninsula and around to Whyalla before heading home via Broken Hill, Cobar and Parkes. We completed a few power trails and left a couple to do when in the area again for next years Mega event.
Overall a great many different styles and types of caches found. A great time was had caching for 16 days straight as well as camping along the way.
Thanks for adding to the fun with this cache.

This was our 7th of 17 finds today - and we found it at around 12:48.
(So this is our 4281st total find.)
Found easily enough.
The cache is 10 metres North, closer to the road. (And since we grew up with GPSR's that were only this accurate, we figure that the coords are OK).
Took: Nothing
Left: Whistle

Having read the logs I started looking well before the GZ was reached. Soon had the cache in hand. Poor thing was pretty damp although the log itself was still usable!!
Left car on road and wandered up the track. Found cache after a short search. Neat cammo - container was quarter full of water - looking just like the tanks! Logbook was only a little damp in its sealed plastic bag, but fine. Drained container and dried it as best I could. Thanks Rocky Glen Grommets for the cache.
We had a good look around but could not find this one. thanks Rocky Glen Grommets
This cache took way too long to find. After lots of searching, geowife found the cache about 10-12metres away from GZ, & thats allowing GPS error margin. All good in the end as it was found. SL TNLN TFTC

YP Family Holiday Day 2 - Three Challenge Me team members and a muggle friend for this trip (CM2 - me; CM3 - niece, CM4 - daughter, M1).
This one was a challenge for a while. GPS had us going in all directions witht the car, but then I realised which track I needed to be on... which presented our second challenge... this is when I wish I had a high wheel base car. We made it though and CM4 grabbed another find... now, how do I get out of here???

Find # 93 of 101 for the day on our Yorke Dash to 2000 Tour. Took the hard way in before realising a fence had to be jumped, and came back the easy way while the plant gurgled away next to us. TFTC RGGs.
Parked at the entrance of the track and took the pleasant walk along the track surrounded by drying grass. Passed the chlorination plant - not sure why that is here rather than at the source. Anyway, 'tanks' for the cache.
2520. Didn't drive through the open gate that made it clear that you weren't supposed to be here. The cache was found upside down and very wet. We dried it as best we could and replaced it right way up and on an angle to try and keep water from settling on it. I wonder if the water is chlorinated.

Got confused because I was looking at the wrong notes; and the GPSr was playing games. Having no idea where it might be, Boxer trod on it! Thank you for the journey - it's lovely to be out in the lush green.

4th cache for the day, as we make our way home from the Heart of Yorkes Event.
Tanks for the view. We did zoom past here on Sunday, but were on a tight time schedule!

Found this one while out hiding our temporary cache for the event in Maitland. I always enjoy visiting interesting places, especially where there is tanks and pipes and stuff of that nature to look at.
Thanks RGG

Tanks a lot... Drove in and parked within 10m of the cache, but on the wrong side! After a bit of athletics and the find, I drove out again, then saw the sign!! whoops
We took the opportunity for a bit of a leg stretch and strolled up to this one, our last for the day.
Quick find. Ran into Setsujoku and Dylanja as they hid there cache for the event.
Another one we found while on our big heart of Yorke weekend.

Amazing how many found this whilst out looking for hides for the event. We left Josie creating some cammo for one of our temporary hides nearby whist we walked to the cache. Took a long while to find. Didn't like that prickly bush and didn't need to spend any time in it.

14:26 Found on our June Long Weekend YP mud slide!
What a gold mine!
Looks like the Stanley's had the same idea as us, as we went through that rubbish heap as well and came away with some great things. Some of which have come back to Adelaide with us as well
Once we were on the right side of the fence it was a bit too easy to find, given that it just looked like it had been chucked under any random bush. Don't think it was supposed to be hidden like that, so we left it a little bit better hidden.
Ahem. Who forgot the tent poles?
TNLNSL is a lie!
Took:
2xEWS covers
1xpair welding goggles
1xsafety beacon
I will return!

Just one of the quick warm up caches, before the big race day. Found with Shane4
We had trouble getting a sat lock on this one, luckily we realised it was on the other side. [:p]
