Got within 100m but there was a stretch of water only 5m but it was too deep for my Merry People gum boots. Didnt fancy wading in bare feet as its only about 10 degrees today. TFTH enjoyed it nonetheless
I was spending some time in the area around Triabunna and at low tide it was no problem to enter Dead Island. Very interesting place an well worth a cache.TFTC and greetings from Germany
Lucķy for us today it was low tide and we could access the Island, wazza9 made the find, we stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO
TFTC,
Out with THC to share some quality time.
We have been here before but due to the tide were not able to get to GZ. Today was perfect till 3m from the end when I slipped resulting in muddy boots.
Added a favourite and visited trackables.

We're spending a few days in Orford doing the nearby TTSS caches also looking around the nearby towns.
Last time we visited Triabunna we didn't have the tides in our favour so we timed it that we did on this visit.
With about 10 mins before low tide was due we entered the water and found our way across the rocky terrain.
The deepest water we encountered was only up to our knees. Once across we quickly found the cache and had a look at the nearby graves.
We made our way back at the same point we crossed (directly infront of the car park) and arrived on dry land 15 mins later.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable cache and a little bit of an adventure getting to it.
We'll happily give it a favorite point and hope this encourages others to visit.

Waded out just 40 mins before low tide, with a rocky pathway just emerging from the mud. A seagull corpse gave an eerie omen. Mostly ankle deep in water, careful plodding gave way to a small wild secret island with an interesting path. Found a grave stone to a fellow irishman from Roscommon and what seemed like about 10 in total. Great mysterious spot, cache easily found. Thanks very much.
A fascinating find alright. At low tide I high tailed it here and spent more time here than I ought to have, reading graves. Favourite point for this one for sure.
As always we found the hard way in and the easier way out. A fair journey was had. At least we made it off the island unlike some of the residents. TFTC
Exploring Tasmania with hellyonfire cache by cache. The weather has kept us on our toes and our ears frozen, and we enjoyed every moment. Thanks to all the cache owners for the creative hides and/or great locations.

Interesting spot, and I'm sure filled with some interesting history, timed our run perfectly, only walking across in thongs proved to be a slippery challenge and not very snake proof, pleased to make a quick find at GZ, and make it back to mainland safely, clever cache, TFTC Team Graham
Fantastic cache! And I brought a first time cacher captain Jim with me. TFTC
Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.
Found with Lil Rafa and the GeoGSP, another one ticked of the east coast that we never got around to don TFTC TNLN log dry, a great place to rest. easy trip out to the island.
Thanks for the cache Team Graham.
I've driven through Triabunna so many times, and always wondered about grabbing this cache, but never seemed to be here at the right time.
Today RLD4963 and I were heading up to Swansea, and although we had missed low tide by about an hour and a half, it was a warm sunny day and we thought it was worth stopping and having a look. We surveyed the area from the shore and picked a route that appeared to show the least chance of getting back in the car with wet clothes, and headed off. There were only a few spots where one of my feet disappeared into the sludgy sand that I needed to be careful that I thought I might lose my shoe! The last 20 metres of thick thigh-high tussocks was the most nerve-wracking - I wondered just how many snakes there might be on Dead Island.
With plenty of noise, we were soon at GZ and signing the log. Then it was a quiet wander amongst the graves before making our way back.
Thanks so much for this adventure - I really enjoyed it. A favourite from me.

Rooted. Interesting little graveyard. Hard walking on island, long pants or gaiters recommended
Caching with The Roadies today, coming up through Weilangta Forest Drive to tackle some caches there and end up at Triabunna for a fish and chips lunch. Luckily our lunch date coincided with low tide so we decided to tackle this cache. Brought our gumboots but didn't need them as the tide was very low. We wandered across the slippery rocks and through some snaky terrain. Located the cache quickly then made some time to look at the interesting headstones. What a shame this area isn't maintained in some way. Great spot for a cache Team Graham - thanks for bringing us here.
When we decided on a caching day with tassietan we checked the tides and saw that it was going to be a perfect low just after lunch.
Drove past on our way to the fish and chip shop at the waterfront and saw that the tide was out enough for only slightly wet feet. By the time we devoured a suitably piggy and yummy lunch, the tide had dropped some more and we could get to the island without having to replace our shoes with gumboots.
What an interesting spot. Sadly a lot of broken, unreadable headstones.
Thanks for bringing us to this interesting spot Team Graham.

We've been to Triabunna on countless times but never had the opportunity to search for this cache before, either due to a high tide or being unprepared. Well today we decided to go for it. It was still 3 hours until low tide but with wet shoes on and shorts we found a route that was not much deeper than ankle high. It's a very special island that we expect not many know about. TFTC Team Graham!

I have been wanting to do this cache for a long time now, it must be 7 or 8 years since I was first in the area and noticed I had come at the wrong time, many times I was in town or passing thru for work but I never had the luck to be here so I could get to the island with going for a swim.
Yesterday i was out caching with gooseandegg and we noticed how low the tide was so after checking the levels for today at the isalnd I asked the Mrs if she wanted to go to fav fish and chip place for lunch.
After lunch it was a sinple matter to walk over to the island and even with my GPS playing up teh cache was found in the end.
So pleased to see this one as found on my map
And sorry for the late log.
Thanks for the cache.

While completing the TTSS series thought we would find this cache as my car over heated so while it cooled down I took this walk.
The tied was at low tied over an hour a go but we still got wet though, this made it fun. Back to the hotel room filled our boots with newspaper and they were dry by the morning.
Thanks for taking is to this spot and thanks for the cache.

The crazy things you do for a cache. Probably would of been great to have gumboots but we made it and got the log signed. Was a cool place for a cache.
Lucky enough to be staying in Triabunna, on a motorcycle trip up east coast. (Biker cachers, if you haven't done it yet do the trip through Orford to Sorrell. If you have done it, well... do it again it's a blast. "Cagers" you will enjoy it too but it's super special on a bike).
Found cache, easy find added additional camouflage as well exposed. This truly is a special spot. TFTC TNLNSL

H found it. Was a great low tide, Could walk across but had to watch our step with the slippery rocks. Also had some great fish at the fish van
This weekend was spent on a caching trip up the East Coast with Porkchop6977, staying overnight in Swansea before returning home on Sunday afternoon. In total we ended up finding seventeen traditional caches, two mystery caches, one multi and one EarthCache, with one DNF.
We stopped to eat our lunch in Triabunna on the Saturday, right across the channel from Dead Island. Unfortunately that happened to be right about high tide, and judging from the depth of the channel we figured we'd be better off waiting for low tide the next day.
Fortunately our timing was pretty good on the Sunday, and we arrived about an hour before low tide. Mrs Nataliec set out across the channel first, followed by Mr Nataliec and Mrs Porkchop. Although the going was a bit tough due to slippery rocks underfoot and the occasional oyster, the water never reached above knee-height, and the island was reached shortly after.
The cache didn't end up giving us any trouble, and was found lying almost in the open right where the GPSr said we should be looking. We added a little more cover when replacing it, although we reckon the location should be pretty safe from muggling regardless!
Definitely quite an adventure getting there! Quite a memorable experience!

Well this was the climax of our little East Coast adventure. We had stopped here to have lunch on Saturday and access the scene across the water, highish tide but had worked out our plan for today to arrive around thirty minutes before low tide. Now who was going across - NatalieC1234 was a definite starter along with Geohubby but porkchop6977 was considering his options when Mrs PC said I will go for you and away she went. It was a reasonable trip across with the highest point around knee height and within twenty minutes Mrs PC and NatalieC1234's Geo Hubby was at GZ with NatalieC1234 looking on from the shore of Dead Island. A large cache full of swaps was found and logged signed. Thanks Team Graham for a wonderful adventure.
Travelling around Tassie for a couple of weeks with MizzJane.
Finding some caches as we go.
MizzJane & I took the cruise around Maria Island, which was well worth it.
I decided to go for this cache before the tide got to high.
It was up to my knees when I went across to get the cache.
On the return trip it had reached the family Jewels.
Thank- you for bringing us here.
The log book was duly signed.

Yesterday TaurusSix and I had a look, it didn't look to bad. However we had just missed low tide. The only option for us this trip would be 6am today.
And so it was. The tide was not as low as the afternoon tides but that's just how it was. I got half way across at no more than knee deep. Then it got deeper quickly, so I backed out a bit. A pair of birds appeared to be trying to lay out the unwelcome mat. They were quite vociferous. I waded parallel for a bit and found a path that was only deep enough to wet the hems of my shorts. The cold water and the spiky grass made the walk across the island a bit painful, but the things one does for a find.
The cache was out in the open when I arrived. I could not see a logical place to hide it other than where I found it.
On the way back I could not find the ridge I walked in on and ended up straying into deeper water. The mud I stirred up was still obscuring the view. I missed by only 1 or two paces. Once back on the middle it was easier to retrace my steps.

Tassie Trip Day 122 - Today saw us take a nice drive along the coast to see a few different aspects to the area and along the way we collected a couple of caches.
After making a few finds the time and tide was right for the approach to this hidden gem of a spot and the way in was rather the wrong decision but alas made it with a log of mud on the legs and found the better crossing on the way our it was a really easy walk taking the correct approach.
Thanks Team Graham for this placement and the history of the location.

Arrived dead on low tide. Easy walk in ankle deep water with rocky bottom. I collected a large stick to thump the ground with in case of snakes. Thankfully I saw none. The cache was easily located and log signed. A really interesting little cemetery although quite spooky on my own. Thanks for placing a cache here.
WOW! this was a hell off a cache, went at low tide and it was a quagmire! deep up to your knees mud in places and still no way onto island unless you strip off and wade the still deep creeks! had the kids with me so no, not today. This cache should read lots more stars on both difficulty and terrain. Take a small boat would be the go for this One......
After getting on and off the Maria Island ferry for the last two and a half years, we finally got a low tide and time enough to find this cache. Many thanks and merry Christmas to all.
Finally logged this one! I arrived to the ferry early as the traffic was a breeze. To time this with low tide meant this was a golden opportunity. It was a beautiful walk across on a 30 degree day.
No snakes seen and 1 cache logged! Thank you!

Walked right past it a couple of times.
A weird sort of graveyard but interesting

This was without doubt the cache of the day. Arrived just at the right time with the tide just about at its lowest point. Slipped off the shoes and socks and rolled up me trouser legs. Then plotted my path thru the mudflats and thru shallow waters up to me knees. Once on dry land could see the headstones just ahead thru some spiked grass. Thought to myself that it were only a short walk so would retain the rolled up trousers in anticipation of the return journey. Headed over to the larger of the graves to have a wee look before I commenced searching for the cache. As I approached the largest grave with the horizontal slab, heard a rustle in the grass and looked up to see a big black tiger snake sliding away under the slab. Well, not wanting to tempt another encounter, rolled down trousers and donned socks and shoes and made a bit of noise walking to GZ. Cache an easy find with spot on coordinates. A muddy return journey to dry land and felt most accomplished for my efforts. Excellent cache and adventure to get there and back and survive to tell the tale.. thanks..!!
Was fascinated with the name of this cache so there was no way that we could just drive by. We were concerned about the tides but were in luck. We were pretty sure that the tide was coming in so we were going to have to make this a quick retrieval. We noticed another cacher said that the tide came in quite quickly and surprised them.
The mud before the water definitely had an attraction to our footwear and made us stand quite a bit taller. As we were crossing, we kept hearing clicking noises. It wasn't until we noticed a small squirt of water that we realised that the oysters were closing as we got too close.
Made it to the island and searched as quickly as we could. Eventually found after not too long and read the headstones that we could. Made our way back to the waters edge to find that the tide was in fact going out so the return journey was rather easy. Just as well no one was relying on us, lol.
Thanks so much for the placement of this cache. Very interesting to us both.

Loved the name, loved the island, loved the headstones. Soooo pleased that there was a pen as we forgot to take one. Just wanted to get out and have a look. Thanks so much for putting a cache here to bring it to our attention.
Didn’t time it well as it wasn’t low tide and I ended up getting my shorts wet. The tide was rising quick but managed to find a shallower pathway close to the tree stumps. Was worth it for the pathtag reward though. I left one of my own pathtags as a swap. A very enjoyable cache on a lovely sunny day. TFTC
Finally got to come out for this cache after first driving by at high tide almost 5 years ago! It's been on our 'to find' list for a while now A quick and easy find after just a bit of low tide wading and a few scratches on the legs pushing through the grass. Left a bunch of stuff including two pathtags. TFTC!!
Vandemonian Vagabond and I have had this cache on our to-do list for almost five years! Easy find after wading through knee deep water at low-ish tide. Walking around the island to the other side means almost no walking through prickly grass.
Due to almost low tide youngest son volunteered to go barefoot and solo to score this cache. Thanks Team Graham.

Finally got around to doing some logging. Travelling around in Tasmania and grabbing some caches along the way. Spooky spot. TFTC
Nice low tide, so off we went across the slippery rocks very carefully. Very interesting and a quick find. TFTC
After our second attempt to find it, lady membsec found the cache. Since it's been about a year since last logged the cache was somewhat grown over making the find difficult!!! TFTC!
We were staying with the Geodaughter, Geoson-in-law and geogranddaughter in Triabunna while the geoson-in-law worked and this cache was on our must do list as we have been past it many times but the tide was not suitable! Yesterday male membsec and lady membsec made the walk across only getting slightly wet but came up empty handed! We were so disappointed and couldn't believe that it had disappeared so today we decided to venture back over with more sets of eyes and determined to find the cache. After reading the tomb stones we followed the gps to where we searched yesterday! Still no luck! We made a PAF call who told us we were searching in the correct place so we continued to search. After another 10 minutes of searching finally lady membsec heard a familiar sound and after a bit of a dig finally had the cache in her hands! The cache was in excellent condition and after signing the log the cache was put back where it was found!
TFTC Team Graham on an interesting little island!

Spent a while looking but couldn't find it. It's been a long time since it's been found so if it's not missing perhaps I couldn't find it because it's been overgrown by very long grass? Loved the location and history! Conveniently I was passing through at low tide and had Teva sandals to wear through the water over the rocks and oysters.
Don't try this in thongs unless you like living dangerously !! luckily we made it without any mishaps despite the sticky , muddy crossing even at the very bottom of a low tide.
Well worth the effort though to see the 10 or 11 historic graves.
Two other geocachers with rubber boots plus their adventourous dogs crossed to Dead Island much quicker than we did.

Was here two years ago at high tide. Timing was better today. TFTC. Angus the great GeoWestie assisted by grey nomad carer Lis Brown on a journey from Shepparton Vic to Geelong Vic then Coolah and Port Stephens in NSW and back to Shepparton before going to Tasmania.
We enjoyed our adventure across to Dead island but could not find the cache. Initially looked around gravestones and trees but having read other comments then looked closer to shore. Couldn't find it.
With military precision I timed the tide right and with stealth and agility I navigated the slippery rocks and with some trepidation blazed a path through the long grass to ground zero. A tricky little sucker to find but eventually found the GC, signed the log, photographed the headstones and returned to the shore. I felt a sense of achievement having successfully navigated the hazards TFTC, enjoyed the experience.
[violet]I'm currently hitchhiking my way around the world and geocaching everywhere I go. My first stop was in Ireland where I spent a couple weeks touring the country. I then flew to London and spent a couple weeks touring the United Kingdom. From there I made my way through the tunnel and up to Amsterdam and then back down to Belgium. After that I headed for France. Then from there I headed to Portugal for a mega event that was happening. After that I headed for Denmark to attend another Mega event. I then made my way North into Sweden and then even further North to Norway. After that I proceeded to work my way back down South through Finland and then ferry hopped my way through a few of the islands to arrive back in Sweden. Next I made my way to Germany for another Mega event and then back to the Netherlands for still another mega event before heading for Luxembourg. After that the next stop along my journey was Switzerland. I then made a quick detour up to Belgium to grab a July 2000 geocache I had overlooked before making my way to Croatia passing through Austria and Slovenia along the way. After that my route took me East to Serbia and then through Romania into Moldova. I then couldn't resist going North and crossing into the Ukraine. After that I began heading South passing through Romania once again. I then passed through Bulgaria as I raced for Turkey in order to catch a flight to Australia timing it so that I could attend a mega event happening there. After that I traveled along The Great Ocean Road and up to Adelaide before making my way West to Perth. I then headed back to Port Augusta and made my way North to Alice Springs. Then I turned around and headed south and then east towards Sydney detouring into Canberra along the way. I then made my way up to Queensland before turning around and heading back down the coast to Melbourne. I then made my way over to Tasmania so I could cross off the last state of Australia.
I wanted to get as close as I could to Hobart airport today since I knew I had to be there before noon tomorrow. But at the same time I wanted to still use a free camping site. So in the end I found out there was a free campsite here in town. Now it was only 2:30 in the afternoon though so of course I looked for nearby geocaches. Sure enough this geocache popped up and so I checked the tide. As luck would have it though the tide was at it's highest point.
But since I was camping nearby for the night I looked up when low tide was and then waited until about 8:30 PM for it to arrive. I then made quick work walking across the muddy ground until I reached the island bringing a muggle from Germany with me whom I had met just a few hours ago. We quickly reach ground zero and soon have the geocache in hand.
Thank you for bringing me here and for placing this geocache!

Thank you for bringing me here and for placing this geocache!

Great cache in a great place in great weather! Heading south for Christmas with our kids we arrived in Triabunna in the late afternoon and found to our dismay that this one was on an island, and it was high tide! Not to be outdone by this hubby got one of the kayaks out and did the hard work in the wind over to the island. We've given this a fav point for the extra fun in getting there and the historic site and of course the cache thank you. Have also posted a pic
We're on a six month stay (til the end of March '16) from the Kurrajong area, (Blue Mountains) NW of Sydney, to tour in the caravan and also visit our kids and grandkids in the Huon Valley On four previous visits before this visit, we were muggles, so we have a whole island of caching fun ahead of us!

Arrived in Tribunna yesterday, and went and looked t the site. The tide had not receded yet, so we decide to wait until today. Meantime, FelixII turned up and we visited the Isle of the Dead together . Mr Felix and geo hub found cache together, while Mrs Felix waited on land with sudoko book, while Mrs Dunmowin picked her way over the rocks. Fire fighters TB retrieved and will be moved on. Thanks Team Graham for an interesting and challenging hide.
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
Staying a few days at Mayfield Bay today we were moving on to Triabunna so made sure to visit those last few we had missed over the last few days.
Think today was the nicest weather we have seen for the week.
We set up camp in Triabunna then went to investigate how to tackle this cache. The tourist info centre thought we might struggle to reach the island but the tide was low and it was an easy walk across to the island.
Finding the cache proved a little more difficult but all good in the end. Sunch an interesting location and so worthy of a cache.

Our timing was perfect, couldn't believe our luck. Note for future finders, wear long pants, child in shorts very unhappy! Great location, well done. TFTC
Hurrah! What a great spot for a cache to bring to a local Taswegian to a historical site! Thank you! Dropped tracker. TFTC
Never seriously contemplated this but drove past and although the tide was fairly low it was obvious that getting to the island would result in getting wet.
Time to take out shoes off and roll up our pants. We were driving through the town towards the tasman peninsula when we noticed this cache was on an island. We quickly decided that we wanted to find it and so we headed for the shores of the river. Didnt take long to get across the small creek but we had to be very careful of all the sharp oysters and barnacles. Once we were on the island we quickly found the cache. On the way back off the island we noticed that the depth of the water had almost doubled in depth.
This was certainly a diferent caching experience than were used to and i really enjoyed it. Thanks for the cache. Favorite from me ☺

while cycling with friends in this beautiful Island, manage to do some geocaching, tftc
We happened to be in the area at a good time of day to make the walk across too the island. It was freezing cold in the water, especially with the breeze. We went over barefoot, and managed to not get our clothes wet. The cache nicely sized, so we dropped off a TB we brought from QLD.

One half of the team did this walk over to the Island and as he has a morbid fascination for cemeteries it suited him to a tea. We chose the right time to access this one , checking the tide chart the day before.
So over he went without any mishaps just very wet boots and feet, not to mention the spiky grass digging into his bare legs.
He found the cache easily then went over to the graves to satisfy another interest while taking plenty of photos all the way.

We were up early and off from our campsite further up the highway, waiting for the boat to go to Maria Island. We stopped here and as it was, the tide was fairly low so I mad the trip across. I put my thongs on and hit the water. It actually wasn't as cold as I thought but slippery. The water got up to my knees at one point but I kept my feet and didn't go it. Once it made the Island, every step I took through the grass felt like 1000 needles hitting me, ouch. I madfe the find quite quickly, took a few pics of the area, stamped and returned the find. I made the trip back to the car safely, dried off and went towards the ferry.
We enjoyed a wonderful 2 week trip around beautiful Tasmania soaking up the sights after visiting here almost 8 years ago. This time the little Na'wals are with us and some caching is to be done. We had a wonderful time time even the the terrible weather that we uncounted most of the time here.

We bought lunch from a fish and chip caravan near the wharf. The F & C were delicious and good value. We huddled under a small shelter near the Maria Island Ferry and decided we were mad to be here today in the rain while it was dry in Hobart! As we headed off around the esplanade we noticed the tide had dropped enough to walk out without getting wet. We thought now or never so off we set. It was very slippery and my jeans got a bit mud splattered (but stayed dry). We had both stepped over the cache without noticing it. Its only as we turned back to look for other hiding places that we noticed it. A simple but clever hide. We wondered why this was called Dead Island (we didn't stop to read the information board) but soon found out once we arrived! Another place we would not have visited if it wasn't for caching. TFTC
3rd time lucky!! Have been here twice before but the tide was too high both times. Arrived about 2pm and checked the tide - luckily for us low tide was about 4.45pm. As we were staying in town overnight arranging to return at the right time was not a problem. A quick crossing was made in water less than a foot deep. The cache was quickly found and signed and the cemetery checked out. Thanks, good to finally cross this one off the list.
Definitely need to check tides. Good oysters

That was an adventure! I slipped and slid my way through the water as I made my way to the island; the water just below my knees. I’m very lucky not to have tumbled over, as it is extremely slippery. At the island I put my shoes back on and pulled my jeans down to protect against the long grass and made my way to GZ, where it was a quick find. Then I returned, finding a shallower route back. This is one of the more difficult caches I have done, although not the worst. That honour goes to the one where I waded, clothed, through mud and water weed up to my chest…and then (sob) had a DNF. As I didn’t slip and crack my head open, a favourite from me for one of the most memorable caches so far in Tasmania. TFTC.
Came back into town at low tide to do this one. Staying near the shoes for a couple of days. Grass very sharp. But worth it

Hi
This cache has been annoying me for a while. Driving past but no time or correct tide to grab it. Today i had both. Got to the edge of the island and had to wade up to my stomach across the stretch. Wandered across grass and found the cache uncovered. Quickly signed the log and Reid the cache properly.
Tftc and great to get this one of my hit list.

What an unusual site. Waded out through shallow water but was a bit concerned lest there be serpents in the button grass. Thanks Team Graham
Tried a few months ago, but the tide wasn't right. Came more prepared this time. Feet got a bit wet, but shorts and sandals on a beautiful day was not much of a sacrifice to make
Finally got tide at ride level, have tried a couple of times, moved on travel bug.
Well we were at the caravan park and just couldn't resist this one. So after checking the tide table we decided that the time was right and we would have a go. So I donned the wellies and set of with a tribe following. It wasn't too long before the the wellies were full and I still had some distance to go. The tide almost got to MY high tide mark but I managed to get to the other side. What a great spot its a pity the access isn't a bit easier. But then I suppose that the grass would have to be looked after. After locating the cache and signing the log it was time to get wet again. I really enjoyed this cache even though I got a bit wet . Left the Voodoo Guru just because I thought it was a good spot for it. TFTC
We were staying at the Caravan Park and exploring the area after a visit to the supermarket and tourist information. Luckily it was low tide so we easily made it across. TFTC.
I pegged this cache as a 'must try' very early in the planning for this trip, it had me intrigued. To my surprise I found that the tide was right and I was soon on the island. But the challenge of getting to the cache through all the grass without encountering a snake set my heart racing. I made it safely through the grass, found the cache, retrieved Emma's Bug, checked out the grave stones and made it safely out again.
The interpretive sign provided some sobering information about the island.
Thanks for the cache Team Graham.

Have been past this one several times but the tide was always in, this time it was wll out, so made the quick dash, quick find. TFTC
As we live an hour's drive away we could time our visit to match the tide. A low of 0.4m around lunchtime today sounded ideal so we grabbed the shorts, sandals & placcy bags (in case of inadvertent GPSr dropsies). Got to the jump-off pont about an hour before low tide & a lovely dry but slightly slimy path lay before us. Over & back without even getting our tootsies wet.
I'm puzzled why they made the cemetery so difficult to access though.

While the rest of the group checked out the Christmas shop, I headed down to the water.
I knew low tide was on its way, but the two channels looked as if they might be a bit deep.
I changed into crocs and carefully picked my way across - the second channel was trickier, but I found the shallow line by looking for ripples.
Once over, I found and signed the cache, had a wander and took some photos before returning to my crossing point.
I was amazed to see how far the water had dropped in just a few minutes - only one channel now, and lots of rocks sticking out.
I wouldn't want to be over there with the tide going the other way!
Thanks - a cool experience.

We arrived a couple of hours before low tide. It was raining and windy and looking rather bleak (not to mention deep!). Went for a drive around town to try to gather intelligence, but without any real success, then returned to what we assumed was the embarkation point. Flip and DD waved T off. They knew what the tide was doing and hoped to wait a little longer and stay just a little drier, but T was keen to get going! Once they saw that T managed to get across and find the cache and noticed that the water level had dropped quite a bit in 10 minutes, Flip and DD decided to explore the island as well. Interesting place, which we previously had no idea about, so thanks for bringing us here. There were 3 pelicans here today, but they had their wings tucked under their arms and were not really interested in our adventure. TN L frog jibbitz - good caches should have at least one frog swap in them!! Interstingly, as we returned the sun came out and pretended that it had been a nice day all along! Thanks for a great cache.
