I've only attempted this once before - turn out Saturday mornings are one of the many peak jogging muggle times for this location! Today it's a bit gloomy, and well after the post-lunch rush, so I'm back with previous finders who had an inkling where it might be. Found, signed, replaced with no muggles being any wiser. Thanks, Tankengine!

We looked and looked, and then we looked again while dodging muggles. We were about to give up and then suddenly discovered it. The coords were spot on, and the clue correct. A truly evil hide! There was a bit of a break in the cold spell today and the sun was out much earlier and things warmed up, even though the temperature only got to 13 degrees. We had been keen to ride our bikes round Lake Burley Griffin so today was the day. We only made it to the Farmer's Market on our first attempt then had to return to the van with our purchases! With that done it was back out to firstly catch the tram into town and then the ride round the lake. On our way round we picked up a variety of caches, trads, multis, puzzles and quite a number of Virtuals. Some were straightforward while others challenging.Lunch at the National Portrait Gallery was welcome. We made it home just as the sun was settingThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Tankengine.**SKI Pair****

We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We have hired bikes to ride around the lake today. Stuck my fingers in many places i shouldnt have!

30-Mar-24
As part of the tour group, we walked a ton of miles and signed all the caches as LT2. Wow! What can I say about this one. It required a walk and some stealth. I am not so sure our gaggle of a group was particularly stealthy, but we could hide our find from view! Just as we finished signing, another geocacher rode up to make the find. What a popular spot. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 3 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega from the U.S. and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It was another day that started with an awesome tour around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was warm and the cachers were friendly. We were led by tankengine, one of the cachers who had a hand in the gadget caches at the mega, has awesome mysteries and other caches in the area. He kept us moving the entire time and we were able to get all the caches on our list. Then I attended the mega which was a lot of fun. There were so many people! The gadget caches were amazing, the adventure labs were fun, and the evening get together for trivia was a blast. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.

Yass/Canberra trip. Day One My son and I headed off on our annual caching trip. Of late its around 7 days away. I found 13 caches today most were found for a challenge and the other was found for my 20th loop. Yippee All were found and signed. Couple were difficult to find. Day Two9 found today I was picking up a new LGA. In the end I needed to pickup the speed and less caching. The push to Yass was that the office closed at 6pm. All were found and signed. Couple were difficult to find.Day Three. My son and I were up early for day of caching. We headed to Canberra chasing a lot of challenges. I signed 31 challenges today. I will need to find which ones I qualify for. I also found three trads. One of them took awhile to find.I had a good day caching in Canberra. Day FourMy Son stayed at the caravan park today. I had organise to cache with JACS Team today. With a late message from GreenGecko1 about getting help with a very big ladder to do some hard to get to caches. So few of this morning caches Sue001 joined us. Most of the climbs were done by GreenGecko1. The rest of the day JACS team and race up and down the road finding and signing log. I signed 43 challenges and 12 other caches. It was a found day today caching.Day 5, My son and I headed to Canberra again today to sign more challenge caches. In the end it was 31 caches. Then I decided to chase virtual as I couldnt find many in SEQ. I did 10 today. Plus finish with a multi. My son and I had really good fun day. Then we headed back to Yass.Day 6,Today meet with JACS Team. We had a very big list. In the end we signed 103 today. How many can I remember not many. A few tree climb a lot on the ground. We replace a few caches. But of course we didnt have enough caches with us. We had a fun day. Day 7Back to Canberra today for an event and to find a few more caches that were still on my list. After that I headed back to Yass to pack up my tent and start heading home. I had a few on my list to get. We got to Sydney late. I found 34 caches today. Tankengine thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for geocaching community enjoyment.

Visiting from SA and always love the opportunity for a cache. Bit of a tedious search for this but got there in the end, covered in spider webs and after meeting a few of their owners. Beautiful day and lovely views, TFTC!

Out for a day of cycling n caching with Winter Dragon
Found after a short search, very busy spot

17-Apr-21
Took the opportunity to stop off here while cycling past with TWDG. Turns out to be a bit limited for space once you get two bikes on the fence, two cachers poking around, a dozen segways, and a continuous stream of pedestrians and cyclists wandering past... Found it after a bit of poking of fingers into places that could contain anything, and to be honest when I touched the cache and it wobbled back at me, I did freak out for a second. Anyway, it's always good to add one more banter to the found list, and take one away from the to be found list. Especially one that I drive past fairly frequently.

TNLN - Thanks Tankengine!

01-Mar-21
Had a good look, but no luck today.

16-Feb-21
TFTC Smile Id tried this one a number of times before with no luck. Had it on my watch list and saw the CO had a clean up. Encouraged to give this one another go. Voila, systematic search and the find was made.

Grateful thanks to Tankengine for placing and maintaining this and so many other caches to entertain me on my journey.

29-Nov-20
Came out here with Turtle284 and DeadThief to clean up the extras! Wow - 3 caches here now... I'm sure one was a throwdown... Anways, 2 containers removed, and the final one, is where it should be - please replace in the same spot. Thanks for your help Turtle284 and DeadThief!

28-Nov-20
A nice little find today with Turtle284, or maybe I should say finds...
After arriving at GZ Turtle and I started looking around that specific pole, being a rainier we had plenty of time to look in between passing cars. After 10 or so minutes we had found the cache. But something struck me as odd, the previous finder had stated the log was full, but the log we had found was only half used.
We decided to keep looking as we were sure there was another cache here, especially after reading a maintenance log from years ago saying TankEngine had replaced it. After not much longer and a few poles down we had found another cache, in a different hidey-hole. We opened it up and what do we find, yet another half-full log.
We decided there must be another here so we kept looking and after searching several poles down we found a third cache. This one so happened to be the infamous full log.

We contacted TankEngine and met up with him the day later. We showed him the three separate hides and he removed the surplus. He replaced the original back in its original hiding place and we went our separate ways.

TFTC TankEngine, a nice little multi Wink

28-Nov-20
Gottcha. Not too many people walking past today meant a quick find. Log full tftc

28-Nov-20
Found this cache today with DeadThief. Or did we...
Located a cache with plenty of space left on the log, when the previous log stated it was full.
Decided to keep looking as there was a possibility of a second cache floating around. Soon had another in hand. This one must have a full log! But no still plenty of room to log in...
Could there be a THIRD! Expanded our search and shortly after, yep a third cache, finally containing the full log previously mentioned. Gotta say I wasn’t expecting a multi here.
Contacted Tankengine and met up on Sunday to resolve the multiple traditional.
CO removed the surplus caches and replaced the original where it was intended to be hidden.
Was an enjoyable hunt and nice to meet Tankengine and solve the mystery. Cheers

So many people around and those dang spiders but worth this little find! TFTF

21-Feb-20
I apologise for logging weeks after returning from my trip to Canberra (attending a conference for work), but some local idiot kept promising to catch up with logging a travel bug I got at my event 'tomorrow'. I could have grabbed it from the previous event it was still in right away and logged all my founds instead of ruining both my own pleasure as well as the pleasure of the owners of some racers I carry around. They will get their miles now!
After my conference I gave myself two additional days in Canberra. I found this cache on the first of these, a LONG day of walking around the city, including the Parliamentary Triangle.
The log book was full but maybe that has been fixed already.

04-Feb-20
Found during a day of caching that started with a walk around the Canberra City centre, along the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, across the Commonwealth Avenue bridge, spending most of the day in the Parliamentary Triangle before heading back across Kings Bridge and down to the Airport. I overshot this cache in my wanders by a couple of hundred metres before realising it was there, so returned for the search, noting that the log scroll is full. Thanks for the tricky cache Tankengine!

Canberra Day 2: War Memorial - Lake Burley Griffin Central Basin - Parliament Triangle

Today’s caching journey started off with the delivery of my rented bicycle, which opens up the better part of Canberra for caching. So, I hopped on and got myself into some tricky terrain on the slopes of Mount Ainslie, before some quiet reflection in the War Memorial. After that, it was down Anzac Avenue to the lake to pick up some caches, and back round to the Parliament Triangle for some tea at the National Library and tying up some WIG loose ends. Tried out the ALs in Canberra, too, which were excellent fun. Very good haul today, with 53 caches spread out over 7 types completed.

This is the specific log for this cache:
A nano on a metal bridge? Sigh... this might take a while... got my fingers all grimy from feeling up a lot of spots, but managed to get the sneaky little bugger in the end. At least the view made up for all the pain. TFTC!

19-Oct-19
It’s quite windy today. On the water there is a sail boarder and they are flying. Arrived at GZ and we’re lucky for a quick find. TFTC

26-Jul-19
Found while doing some night caching. There was no one around so I could get down and search without looking suspicious. Thanks Tankengine.

05-Jul-19
This one was a bit tricky between muggles, luckily Cathylm found it so we could sign and replace the cache.
Thanks for the fun

05-Jul-19
Find #23 on our geocation to the Mega at Cataract Park via Canberra for a couple of nights.

Had a short search before i put my finger in the right spot and discovered the tricky little blighter. Fortunately not too many muggles today so we could search between riders and runners.

Thanks

29-Jun-19
Yay I found another te cache! 2 out of 4 tries today. Twilight seemed a low muggle time to find this but even then I needed to take a few pretendy photos. TFTC.

22-Jun-19
Easy find once I got a chance, but as expected on a lovely Saturday like today it was an absolute mugglefest! Pretended to take in the view, then pretended to take photos. In the end just sat down in the middle of the bridge until I had a small gap. Then sat again until the next break in foot traffic presented itself to replace.
Thanks for this series. They are getting easier!

16-Jun-19
I was in Canberra for work on the Monday so I arrived with a few Sunday afternoon hours to do some caching on foot.
I found your tiny cache and was the first name in the new logbook
Thanks Tankengine

20-May-19
Its a few years since I attempted this one. Today on the way past it was fairly quiet so gave it another go. First idea yielded nothing, but the next spot I found the cache.

Log very full, so squeezed my name in there.

Thanks

30-Apr-19
Decided to check on this one, and couldn't find it! - So cache has been replaced, good to go!

27-Apr-19
It's been a while since I did a Bridge Banter, and I'm always weary as they tend to be a challenge. This one was either easier than most or I'm just used to TE hides now, but it was more a wait for the coast to be clear before I felt around for it.

It was windy this afternoon so had I lost grip on the log it would have ended up in the road or the lake.

TFTC Tankengine

25-Apr-19
Popped up after spending some time at the NGA and doing the nearby lab cache series. But it was far too busy today. At one point we paused momentarily near GZ and almost caused a traffic jam. Bikes, prams, mobility scooters and walkers crammed together today. But we'll be back.

21-Apr-19
Attending the Queanbeyan Clear Waters mega event, this was a day to go into our country's heart and capital to see a bit around Canberra itself. I started off at the National Carillon, and made my way across the bridge through the National Gallery and associated garden, along the lake and past the museum to lunch time's event. From there, I met up with other South Australian Geocachers as we travelled by car to various targeted caches. Another nice day with great weather, and a fun day out with friends.

Unfortunately this one was just too good for me today, and after 10-15 min of looking, I just had to move on. Thanks anyway Tankengine.

21-Apr-19
Day 3 of our Clear Waters event and Queanbeyan/ACT adventures and again we had cracking weather, perfect for caching. A walk/tour around Lake Burley Griffin took us to many highlights which we followed up with some more random wandering around Canberra. An honorary find thanks to the CO.

Thanks Tankengine for placing and maintaining this cache.

21-Apr-19
In Queanbeyan to attend the Mega. So great to get here early to spend time catching up with some many familiar faces. Always taking the time to grab a cache, when the opportunity allowed it.

Out in Canberra with The Empire and omegaman1971, picking up some hides, before this mornings event at Parliment House. Had some fun and laughs along the way, while finding a number of good finds.

It didn't take too long before this sneaky little fella was found by The E.

Thanks Tankengine for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play
