Round 2 in Karori Cemetery. I was here a few days ago up in the hills, but didn't have time to find all the ones I wanted at ground level, so back today to complete my list.Windy but dry when I was here in the morning. No problems finding the cache as per the hints. In good order.Very nice area to wander around as the track is well-maintained and the forest mature. It is evidently a very popular area here as I passed several dog walkers, runners and individual people walking and listening to music.I can't get over how big this cemetery is - it just goes on and on!TFTC boxhill ,';*={thanks}-*;', ,;:*(thanks}:*;*:{thanks}*:;, ,;{thanks}:;:*{thanks}:;:{thanks);, `;:{thanks};:{thanks}:;{thanks}:;' `*&;:{thanks}:;:{thanks},:;&*' `-+;:*{thanks}*:;+-` `-\\\||///-' __ \\||// __ / `------' \ | }-(______)-{ | \___/ |||| \___/ /_, |||| ,_\ \| |/
I initially headed down to Wellington yesterday in order to attend the monthly Wellywood Wednesday event, and knowing that there was another event on at lunchtime today I arranged to crash at a mate's place overnight. That gave me a few hours this morning to do whatever I wanted, so I headed over towards Otari-Wilson Bush in order to do a couple of AdLab stages and maybe get a few nearby caches such as this one.I solved this puzzle before heading over from the Hutt in the hope of finding it today. The weather ensured that there were only a few people around braving the rain, so when I got to GZ I was able to search in peace which was good as I had no idea what the Hint was trying to tell me. But I had a look in the most sensible place close by and sure enough there was the cache. All is fine here, and having added my name to the log I replaced it all as found and carried on my way. Thanks for creating this puzzle and cache.
Didn't find it. Found an odd "pile" of rocks that looked suspicious, about in the location I would have thought to find it, but nothing there. Will try again another time.
Solved this one some time ago and came for the find today whilst in the area and needing a cache to fill a mystery dot day. A quick find and an enjoyable walk. tftc
These puzzles really just highlight the apps inability to read html/CSS Parked the car closer than the given parking point, shortening the walk to GZ.Waited a bit for a swarm of muggles to walk by before trolling the area.Kinda webby here. Not long before the cache was found. The cache and log are in good condition. Cheers.Sleepy was here!
Haven't been out this way for ages, so had a pleasant bush walk and a nice quick find thanks to the spot-on hint. TFTC!
Nice, quick find on an excellent walk. Loved hearing all the birds and water sounds around here. All good at GZ. TFTC Boxhill
Approaching the plotted gz from the south I was full of confidence and bravado... soon deflated. Waiting a little longer from my phones GPS to settle I soon saw my mistake... quickly corrected and cache in hand. Alls well here. Pleased to be in this neck of the woods to remove another solved puzzle from the list. TFTC Boxhill
Out finding some solved Mystery caches today. Puzzle find #5 of 6 today.
I solved this a while ago but on my last visit to Otari I just about covered every track except this one.
A quick find even with surprisingly good camo, thanks to the hint.

Nice to sign off on another puzzle cache which has been sitting on my solved pile for a while. I enjoyed the walk to this cache, don't think I've been to this area before, very peaceful. Thanks for the fun little puzzle and TFTC.
Easy find today as I head home from the skyline down into Otari and via this cache. Lots of people out because its such a gorgeous day - manged to find the cache exactly as per the co-ords and sign. Then had to stop and take a couple of photos while a muggle passed before returning. All good here boxhill - TFTC - its always enjoyable getting another boxhill cache.
Checked up on things here this morning. Cache is still there. Coordinates were pretty good on my old Oregon 550. Down to 2-3 metres despite the tree cover.
Uh-oh! I think this one might be missing... I had it in my hands less than a month ago, but had no pen on me to sign the log. Came back today armed with one just to find the hidey hole empty... The object that used to cover it is nearby, but no cache in sight where it had been seen before...
Solved this last year but finally found time to come grab it. Searched the wrong structure at first but got there in the end!
As trancer96 noted, had to backtrack a bit from coordinates, but cache an easy enough find once in the right spot. Tftc!
Couldn't find it after about 30mins of searching. Beautiful place for a rest and little ones to run around though.
It's been quite a while since I was down this way and I've been to the general area at least twice since I solved this but I'm not sure why I never came to find the cache until now. I was just looking at the cache page again to figure out how I obtained my coords way back when. That was probably the first time I encountered that trick but now it's like "oh, yeah".
So I came at this from the opposite end of the track from the parking and trailhead coords. When I got to GZ I had exactly the same problem as I had an another boxhill cache about 30 minutes prior. I apparently arrived at GZ, had a look around, seemed to be "nowhere" then the GPS redirected back some 30 metres which is a pretty substantial overshoot. But once I got close things became much clearer when "classic" hiding options presented themselves. I only had to properly look in one place because the cache was there. Looks like the hint would have made short work of it too had I needed it.

My favourite local walk - a lovely wee spot.
Cache was out in the open for some reason, my muggle sister spotted first! - so tucked it away with a bit of camo. Lots of digging activity around where it was found.

Second evening of walking 'round in the Otari-Wilton bush, and gathering caches as I go. This was one. Solved this one a while ago, and found tonight exactly as described.
(# 4716). Went for a walk in Wilton Bush starting at Karori Cemetery. I wanted to clear my outstanding caches in the bush and get solved puzzles. A nice morning to go for a walk. Solved this one some time ago. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
A very enjoyable walk on a beautiful day brought us to GZ. The cache was a quick find. Thanks for placing a cache in this lovely area.
With another 9 months experience this cache has gotten easier since I first solved it Quick find today, and love the area. TFTC boxhill.
Nice day out finding some geocaches with Just-Lookin.
Finally got around to visiting this one - had it on the to-do list for a couple of years.
*Another good quick find for us here.*
Nice walk to site, cache in good order.

Another good day out geocaching with tmann421. Really enjoyed this very lovely area. A nice walk and cache quickly located. TFTC
Too easy in the end! I was first confused by the WCC hint Which one? But then my task was greatly simplified when the cache appeared right out in the open! It was still quite dry inside so SL and returned it to an adjacent spot that suits the hint TFTC
GPS got me to WCC. I had a suspicion where the cache might be and the hint confirmed it.
#1719. When we first started geocaching we went for a walk into Wilton Bush and saw this puzzle showing on the GPS. But had no idea how to solve it. A few months later we were a bit more aware of the tricks of the game. Had the coordinates sitting in the solved pile for more than a year as it was close to home and needed a few nearby caches to keep in reserve. Decided today was a good time to go looking for it. Got to the GZ and had a search in the most likely place but couldn't feel it. So checked out a couple of other spots. Then came back and shone a torch where I first looked. There it was, close by but not in the expected spot. Signed the dry log book and returned as found. *Thanks for the cache*.
A very clear hint and a nice easy find. Everything is nice and dry. TNLNSL TFTC
Pretty much a record for us… we first sought this cache in January 2010, without success. On our next trip to Wellington in February 2010 we re-checked the puzzle, and searched again with a similar lack of success.
A chance meeting with the cache owner at an event around 6 months later gave us a clue, which we wrote down for the next chance.
Well, five and a half years later, after many many visits to Wellington from our home in Hamilton, finally a day with suitable weather, plus some time for a lovely walk in this park and move this off the list of things waiting for us to do… so we searched again. We noted the hint appears to have been updated during this time, and with the new wording we felt even more confident when we began.
It was not straight-forward, we spent quite some time searching the wrong structure, but after almost giving up, we found it! After logging we returned it a bit further along, to a spot described in the hint.
Thanks Boxhill for setting up the cache, and especially for maintaining it all the 6 years needed for our find.

Second time lucky looking for this one. Not so lucky, though, to have slipped spectacularly in the mud! Anyone who's not sure where to look would be wise to head to the general area soon - I have left an obvious geotrail ... you won't be able to miss it! Fortunately, just Yosser and our collective pack of geopups were there to witness the indignity I'm still licking my wounds TFTP.
like others had a short visit to the wrong WCC, but then checked the GPS and that put us back Ontrack! quick find at GZ and dropped off 2x TB's. TFTP and TFTC
Had the wrong wcc at first. Loved It suggested contining and that is where we found it. Tftc
My smartphone was a useful tool in solving this puzzle. Enjoyed a pleasant walk on a sunny autumn afternoon. Cache was quickly in hand, then pattismith jr enjoyed the stream. TFTC
# 256. Quick puzzle solve. Took me two visits and lots of searching to find this one. Wandering GPS; confusing myself with the hint, made this much harder than it should have been! Got there in the end tho. Tftc!
A great walk, but we didn't find the cache, possibly because I was hesitant to break the multitude of beautiful webs - I'm not fearful of putting my hands in strange places, but I do feel sorry for the spiders that have worked so hard! Silly, but true I'll return with a torch and give it another go - hopefully within the next six months, as that's how long it's taken me to attempt the find after solving the puzzle many moons ago!
Another tricksy puzzle solved a while back. Came down this way after picking up Cursed #17 with the geokids. Struggled a little bit with the GPS so had to rely on the hint, but the tricky part was working out what hint object!
The location of tracks on Google Maps is not the most accurate and after taking a different path back up to the road, we were quite some distance away from where we had left the car, but it was a pleasant stroll today. TFTC

Nice walk today along a track that I haven't been on before. Had worked out the puzzle and quickly onto the GZ. Cache was elusive but eventually tracked down. Thanks for the cache.
#1101 Back in the Wilton/Otari area today to pick up some caches that were yet to be found. Had solved this one back in 2012 but never got around to picking it up until today. Lovely wander to the cache and a quick find- had my hand right next to it and then I looked up and spotted it. TFTC- great hide and nice area to visit.
Cache # 1,877 - solved this puzzle well over a year ago, but kept it in reserve to keep my streak alive. the problem with a daily cache in winter is it often is in the dark. Approaching from Ian Galloway Park into the bush, I stumbled across a hint object close to the GZ. Yes! Dark and cold, but almost there. But wait, the hint and the GZ went in different directions. Frowning to myself in the dark I walked past where the GPS was pointing and found a second hint object. This one made more sense, and shortly afterwards I had the cache in hand. A nice hiding spot, and all is well there. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Hmm, app on smartphone solved this puzzle for me!
A bit of backwards and forwards and trial and error, but didn't take long. TFTC!

I was planning a trip around the Otari-Wilton park to grab some caches and saw this one. Very quickly solved it and added to the list. Once at GZ I initially started my search at the wrong end. After having no luck, I used the hint and very quickly had the cache in hand. TFTC.
Found after being very confused by the description. Re read and looked through the logs before finally getting it.
An easy find although the gpsr wasn't receiving very well. Solved the puzzle quickly, TFTPC
Another nemesis cache.
Third time lucky though.
Walked up, stuck my hand in and grabbed it straight away.

TFTC. A new month, and a new quota of caches I need to find and log to keep a couple of challenges I'm working on alive....so I reckoned I'd better get this one done to keep them ticking along, and before the weekend's rain arrives and the area gets too muddy.! Muggled on the way to GZ by 2 people walking 8 dogs between them, and they caught me again on their return trip as I was leaving - fortunately I was a way from GZ at both points so the cache is safe.... mind you 4 dogs each ranging in size from a peke to a large black lab should be enough to keep anyone occupied?
Had DNF'ed this a while ago, but with the benefit of experience took only a few minutes to find this time. Nicely hidden and cache in good condition.

Came past - could not find it. My GPS struggled a bit under the trees and cloud, and the hint did not help. A log from an earlier cacher said that he got inspiration from one of the caches further down, so I went on and did the next two - curse of the FTF and suburban pipe. No inspiration from them. Came back here (my plan was to knock off Otari Bush) and realised where I was going wrong. I was on the wrong thing! The CO in the hint meant "to" not "from", which puts me in a totally different place - right where the cache was. Nice.
Took "two bites of the pie" to locate this little hider. Had a first go while walking down the track checking out a few possibilities with out any success. With a few muggles walking past decided to carry on with my walk and try again on the way back. After being successful further down the track, returned and with a slightly different perspective, after a quick search put my hand on the elusive little 'beast'. TFTP&C
On a quick visit to Wellington. Lovely spot for a stroll but didn't find it. perhaps better luck next time.
A gorgeous day for a wander. Didn't realise these tracks could take you all the way to Karori. Tftc
Found during a spot of anniversary day holiday caching. Which included a romp around Otari Wilton's Bush.
All very nice too.
Cache in order, log signed and then safely re-hidden.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Found on our second attempt - cache owner must have big feet as we were initially looking in the wrong area. Widened our search and hand was soon on a nice dry cache
Thought I had the whole bush park to myself. Just signing log and a very friendly dog and owner appeared. Carried on to walk through Karori cemetery to make for a decent ramble. TFTC
Packed the gumboots and off we went early this morning - pretty chilly in there ! Cache in excellent condition. TFTC.
Solved the puzzle some time ago and was in the area today so decided to take a look. Hint made sense but oooooohhhh GZ was an enormous psychological challenge for me, as a dyed-in-the-wool arachnophobe. Took a lot of energy to search in the many different possible hiding spots. Found in excellent condition, nice hide. Thanks for the multi layered challenge. TFTC
Had worked this out some time ago, can't remember how now. Was in the area today cleaning up some caches we didn't get last time here. Cache well hidden but found quickly. SL TFTC.
Very thick mud was getting my shoes to a colour of lightish brown. apart from that, The cache was found withou- no, I slipped over at GZ. TFTC
Solved this a long time ago, but had not been up here for some time to complete the find. TFTC
Nice one to finally tick off. The puzzle worked out spot on and the cache in hand quickly too. TFTM
Find #1164. This was a team find with one on the phone providing the final co-ordinates and the other doing the leg work. Knowing the Otari reserve well, I managed to park really close more by informed default than real planning; a quick stroll down the bush track to the valley floor; found WCC and the rest as they say is history. Hardest part is not to be spotted by locals on their ramble in the bush. SL TFTC.
Third time lucky. Paced out the clue three different ways before I finally hit paydirt. It's hides like these that make me wish I had a borescope, instead I made do with the iPhone's camera rather than take on the resident wildlife head to head.
Quick find with NZLats while getting some of the other caches in the area. TFTC
Completed the paperwork today on a beautiful sunny afternoon. TFTC, not sure why we couldn't find it the first time.
A beautiful afternoon for a walk down the path today, with the dappled light through the trees and a number of Tuis to keep me company. Found the cache with no problems and then returned back up the path. Thanks for bringing me down to this great location. TFTC
Had no idea what the 3-letter acronym in the hint was, but suddenly it was clear Still, no success on the cache after searching a lot.Maybe I didn't follow the hint correctly ...
#426 Have been meaning to come back and have another look for this one for a while after a DNF on the previous version of the puzzle. Turns out I was looking in slightly the wrong place last time but managed to track the cache down without to much trouble this time . TFTC!
I like these sort of puzzles, ones even I can figure out.
Found the cache without any problems. Muggles came by just after I put it back

I was fortunate to find this one today. It isn't smart to turn up with a printed description that is nearly a year old. Luckily I now have a GPSr that contains more information and I referred to it before I progressed too far in this adventure. TFTC, boxhill.
Many thanks to the owner for making this easier to find - found it immediately, looking in the correct place this time! Pleased to get this before winter as the track is already starting to get muddy and it can only get worse.

#2197. Found on our second attempt after a DNF a few weeks back. This time found a track down from Wilton Rd that was a reasonably direct route. TFTC.
Wondered what the heck was going on when I tried to access this on the GC mobile site with my very basic mobile last night as I was in the area, though it was getting a bit dark anyway: it makes sense now I see what has been changed!
Rather than Archive this cache and replace it with another one in the same spot I have reformulated what is required to find the final location. Hopefully this will enable more people to find it .
This was starting to be a bad day - out of 4 caches looked for, this was our second DNF, Our calculated co-ords took us close to a geocaching cliche. There was a JPP nearby, but what exactly was EFW? We had a good fossick, but it's possible the cache may have been pushed out of reach, Tried using our walking poles to further our reach, but no success. There was another cliche nearby, also with a JPP, had a quick look there but again luck. Reading back thru old logs, people mention GZ being 15-20m out - maybe we were concentrating on the wrong cliche?
Will watch with interest.

My only DNF while doing the Wilton Bush Tour. Fairly confident I had the right final coordinates but despite a good 15-20 minutes searching couldn't find a cache. Will come back if someone logs a successful visit.
Think I was in the right spot and had solved this correctly as the clues made perfect sense, but I didn't find the cache!
Cache disabled while I think a few things through.
No more finds after the 29th accepted until further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Started this yesterday but had no joy with the final. After using the EAF (email a friend!) option which clarified things for us we went back again today and this time with success. We had checked this area yesterday but obviously not well enough as we were running short of time. NINO TFTC
