Regrettably we have to let this cache rest in peace or pieces as the case may be as the hide has overgrown the cache.
Visiting from the UK with my brother. Found a break in the storms to walk to GZ, the path in parts underwater. The cache which can be identified from the recent logs has no lid...this was nearby on the floor, and cannot be refitted...was full of water. No evidence of a log book, and pointless starting another given the state of the cache. Had planned on leaving a geocoin, instead logged 2 through. Despite the weather, thanks for bringing us here, in better conditions would have loved to birdwatch here.
Well - Wazza & Kara chose the right parking. Thus we had the shortest distance to walk under the relentlessly burning sun. However the location is definitely worth a visit. We met quite a few wallabies on the way. The cache was soon located and it turned out to be a "real estate cache", meaning we could not move it out of its hide.

Once parked the cache was still located a walk of 680 metres away.
We followed the path, taking guidance from the GPS when path choices presented and found the GZ with ease.
This cache has been insitu for a while. When you locate it you will understand.
Signed the log, but Took nothing and left nothing.
A nice walk, with plenty of wallabies and water birds to be seen.

Found this one while passing through town. The walk through the wetlands was very enjoyable. We struggled to get the lid off the cache as the surrounding material is starting to encroach over the end of the cache. The log book is a bit mouldy and manky.

Nice walk to GZ. The cache was quite visible but was unable to dislodge it. Luckily no problem to unscrew the cap. Thanks.
Found no trouble on a wet mothers day an we came to sunny Queensland to get away from wet miserable weather never the less we enjoyed the walk there and around some of the wetlands. Saw quite a few diferent birds and a couple of wallabys TFTC Toook nothing left a garnet. Garnet
The track to the cache is closed because of damage to the trees by cyclone Yasi.
One the trees have been cleared and the track reopened it should be OK.
Maybe should be diasbaled for the monent?

Bit of a trek from the carpark, but a totally lovely walk today. Really great spot, lots to see. TFTC!!
Took the long way to this on after parking over at the Conference center and taking the overhead walk across and then another 800m into the wetlands proper. Note to self. Best not done in the middle of summer on a hot day with rain pending and cyclones hovering off the coast. Easy find as breezes had blown covering leaves away and it was exposed. Did our best to conceal before heading back to the resturant for a scrumptous lunch.

We're on a trip around the world, now for 3 months in Australia. Going from Cairns to Perth in a campervan. Today we drove from Mission Beach to Townsville. Stopped here for a very nice walk. We saw our first wild wallibi's here! We had such fun to see them jumping around. Didn't see any crocks only some warningsigns. Thanks for showing us this place!

Visit here often. Nice one guys. TFGH. Let VW TB take a peak too. Heading north with a group of American Environmentalists. They loved the area and some were really keen bird watchers. One Cacher amongst them so they going to take VW for a big trip. Cheers, hope to catch up again one day.
What a great place to visit. Not so good for birds today, but we did see some, and we did manage to find the cache, Great view. Left a Blood Bank key ring, enjoy it. Took nothing and covered it again carefully
Great location to visit if passing through Ingham. Found on a drizzly day out so borrowed a couple of umbrellas from the Wetlands centre.

WanderingAus wandered by on day 40 of our annual 'Climatic Refugee' trip, after enjoying a sumptuous meal at the Ingham RSL, I left the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) at the RSL feeding the pokies, and made my way to the wetlands.
There was a fairly bright half moon, so I had little need for my torch as I walked along, and after reaching the vicinity of GZ I made a fairly quick and easy GAFF 1 find once I ignored "the obvious" and trusted my new Magellan Explorist GC.
My find No 2485, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC in for a visit before grabbing them back again.

As per previous log I struggled to extract the container from it's hidey hole and the rehide wasn't too easy either, might be time for a slightly smaller container.I've driven past these wetlands many times over the years, but this was the first time I've stopped for a look. Thanks bubblensqueek for bringing me to this fantastic spot, must come back one day and do the full circuit.Took nothing, Left US 1 cent.
Nice pleasent stroll, great way to start the day, nice easy find although container is getting a little crowded in its hideaway, getting a little hard to extract and to relocate.

Great place to visit and well worth the time to go for the full trip around the lagoon. On the way out saw a pair of European travellers going in. On small bottle of water between them and one without a shirt. Wouldn't like to be them tomorrow.
Take a hat and PLENTY of water if you are doing the full walk. I took my time and it took 1.5 hrs.
Fantastic place for a cache.
BTW the boardwalk from the Info centre is NOT the way in. Go to the football field at the end of the street and park up there.

19/12/09 8.25am - After talking with a man about a job that is in the making here took the walk to the cache while hubby talked shop. Lovely park and beautiful specimens of Screw Pines or pandanas. While at cache saw many Magpie Geese and possibly a Jabiru in the distance. Didn't get to take the full tour but the 30 min walk was good enough. Geoff is very passionate about Tyto and gave us all the info about it. Fantastic facility for Ingham. Found cache easily and signed logbook. Took lots of photos\ LN. TFTC.
Called by after coming back from Wallaman Falls, There seems to be alot of construction going on. I couldnt find a way to get onto the board walks from the Information center out the front due to wet concrete

I've driven through Ingham so many times thinking this one was almost a drive by. Don't really know why I thought that.
We usually drive by at night time on our way to Mackay. Glad I didn't attempt it at night.
Today I made time for it. I was surprised by how far I needed to walk but it was so worth it.
Thanks very much for taking me here as I'm always just driving north or south and never stopping.

What a nice walk. A posn of the carpark would have been nice as my first attempt had me approaching from some soccer fields and a dump to the north. Thanks for such a awesome spot... there were wallaby's everywhere! Took searchwise015s geocoin and left a normal coin.
Found at 3.00pm GAFF1. A 650 metre walk! On a hot humid day with smoke and dust haze! Can we drive there with the van on? The answer of coarse was no, so we headed off and in no time after watching a kangaroo and a few vatieties of birds we were at GZ. Very dry around here which we suppose will change in the next few months.
Thanks bubblensqueak.

This was our family's first experience with geocaching. Was introduced courtesy of The Scientriffic Magazine my sons subscribe to.
Our first attempt was not successful but further investigation at the web site revealed the encrypted clue which did help immensely.
Also now we know what we are looking for!
Ideal time to go is just prior to sunset but remember to bring the aeroguard!!
Beautiful spot just to sit - many walking tracks available for those interested.

At first my GPS had me 8 meters away, but after a few minutes I was in the correct place and had the cache in hand. Replacing it was difficult as there was a constant stream of birdwatchers and photographers coming and going, probably because I was there right on dusk. Took a poker chip, left a penny. TFTC.
Have driven past here many times so it was great to have an excuse to visit. We will return to do more of the walks another time. The kids thought it was great.

On our way from Townsville to Cooktown we decided to grab Inghams First cache. It was a lovely walk to the GZ. We have never been to the wetland before and its nice to stop and enjoy on of Ingham's attractions in stead of just driving through. Found the cache easily and made sure that it was well covered on its return. Thanks for organising the cache. TNLN SL Cat and Bear : )
I really liked the journey to this cache.
would never have known such a beautiful spot existed here otherwise.

and saw lots.
birds, fish, wallaby's, butterflys and dragonflys.
only thing i didnt see was an owl
and no crocs. its always a worry when there is a sign saying crocs about and your walking along a path quite close to the waters edge.

It was a very pleasant stroll to GZ as we spotted a number of wallabies still enjoying their early morning snack and the trees were a live with bird life. Cache was quickly in hand when we reached GZ as it was not covered at all. There were limited leaves around to recover the cache but we did the best we could but I still think the cache is pretty safe. Luckily we had previously enjoyed wandering around this wonderful park because today the roaring rumble of the souped up cars at the Ingham Car Show we calling us. TNLNSL Thanks for the cache.
Found at 4;30pm on the way to Townsville.
Stopped and stretched our legs. The sun was starting to go down and the wallabies were on the move.
Ran into a Bird watcher after we had signed the log and done the swaps. Talked for a while and we parted in different directions. A nice place to bring the kids on a return visit. Thank you for bringing us here.

Easy find after a beautiful walk . This place is a joy to bird watchers (not millions of birds but many different species).
I'm a bit worried that this cache will be found too easily by observant muggles. Thanks for planting a cache on our local patch.
