The first traditional cache in Hong Kong. Find it easy on our walk in the place up in the mountain. I am traveling with people from Sweden. The plan is to visit some interesting and selected caches here, before we move on to Japan. We have spent a day here before the trip goes on to other interesting places. 5729 cache number, thank you for this cache.

Fund During our holidays, we also came across this cache. For details you may like to translate the german post.

Day 2 in Hong Kong

With the caching challenge out of the way yesterday, today's agenda was rather more for picking up any remaining caches on my list, and to go up to Ngong Ping for a little highland walk. The weather continues to be fairly decent, with some clouds, a little rain and a spot of sunshine here and there. Another very good set of caches were picked up with a couple of highlights and interesting finds. This trip to Hong Kong may be short, but it has been a nice and memorable one.

—————————-

Well, if only all impromptu caches lead to such great popularity... anyway, it’s nice that your serendipitous trip to HK landed you here, and gave us all a nice physical cache to find up here. Took a little time to circle round the area and clambered on a few rocks to get to the cache, which was still all nice and well after all this time. TFTC!

Aquilus1 and myself decided on a bit of a whim to come to Hong Kong and surrounds when we saw a crazy special for super cheap flights.... and who doesnt like to add a few countries and five states to the stats?

We of course targetted FTF, oldies, virtuals, D/T, countries and states.... as well as one of my two missing dates. Some of the caches we found were well out of the way, the worst required a ferry, a train, two buses, a taxi then a 3km walk that culminated with a descent using ropes followed by extreme rock hopping.... I can see how we picked up 10 years of unlove on the trip.

The other highlight was picking up another FTF in mainland China.... we had to race for it! ALmost 2 months after publishing we ound it without any issues. We left several pathtags and a TB.

We had an event during the trip which resulted in us doing some impromptu late night caching when I really should have been asleep and a strange desert. Oh, and I was handed about 10 TB's to take back to Australia as well.... the locals will love that!

We experienced the full gamut of different Customs practices as we seemed to cross a border every day of the trip.... mainland China and then Macau being the other
countries' that we visited in the 4 day trip. Soooo different to HK, in very different ways from each other, its funny that they are so close together.

We are leaving today so came over to Lantau on the way to the sirport to grab the nice variety of hides here. This one is nicely located

GreyHams and myself took advantage of some ridiculously cheap flights and booked a trip across to Hong Kong for the weekend, well... a long weekend!

With a list of some targeted caches, including a FTF, virtuals, oldies, DT, dates and challenge fillers, mixed in with some sight seeing along the way lead to a very interesting and enjoyable trip. We visited three counties in as many days, added 5 states, walked to we ached and then walked some more! Some standout locations visited, some for a cache or two others because they were too cool not to visit.

We held an event that saw us out with some local cachers finding a few caches very late at night after a very long day and then joined them for what I thought was soup but ended up being a desert at the end of the evening. Was good to talk caching with some local people, and was an experience to remember.

Based in Hong Kong but gave the passport a good work out with visits to Mainland China and Macau as well, have that passport number memorised well and truly now. All three countries so close together but very different from each other in their customs and identities and provided some memorable moments.

Many standout moments, including a china FTF. A #5000 milestone involved taking a ferry, two trains, a bus, a taxi and then a 3km hike, a rope climb down to the shore and then rock hopping for an endless long time alone the shore line and then did it all again on the way back!!! Many thanks to the CO's for their caches that help guide us around to many different locations and added to the experience.

Last day in HK and after all the walking of the last few days the up to the top was a push but worth the walk up. Left a Path Tag, if you take it please log it.

Once again a crazy group has set off to visit distant countries.
Already at the beginning of the year we travelled with 35 participants from Germany and Switzerland this time Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and China.
Besides the sightseeing we also visited some caches. We also tried some culinary specialties. Some of them took a lot of getting used to.
I thank all fellow travellers for the nice company, the nice time spent together.
Thanks to all owners for the elaboration, the furnishing and the care of the partly very creative caches. Also through you our hobby becomes possible.
During the two weeks of our trip we visited numerous Multis and Mysteries but even more Tradies, some Wherigo, Virtuals and a few Letterboxes.
Please excuse the unity log, but with the number of caches, the abundance of impressions it is hard to write anything for each one. The answers to Earthcache questions and to the Virtuals were sent to the owners for the group.
The logbooks were signed by us with GIGA2019 / Germany is going Asia 2019 to save space.

In February 2019, Ms. Brummelbär made her way to Asia with a group of travel-loving geocachers. The tour of Cacher-Reisen.de led to Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and China. On the way we logged as a group in a space-saving way with GiGA 2019.

Today we had a great day in Hong Kong, which we started very early and ended very late. The pedometer on the wrist was tormented, rarely made so many steps ....
This cache was deliberately chosen for our round.

Thank you for laying and maintaining this cache say the Brummelbären from Worms / Germany.

We signed all boxes with Team "GIGA19".
We visited during 14 days Hongkong, Macao, Taipeh, Fukuoka, Busan and Beijing. We meet some other Cachers and Owners and have seen many beautiful places with their help.
Thanks to all who made this all possible.
Greetings from Good Old Germany.

Next journey we started is going Asia in a group of 35 geocachers. We logged with our teamname GiGA 19, means Germay is going Asia in 2019 to save time and space in the logbooks.
Our trip was amazing, I saw many places I had on my ToDo list, but never thought that I will see them in this live. Many thanks to all owners, your caches are awesome.
We visited Hongkong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and China.
Unfortunately was no time to see all attractions of the towns we have been. But I am sure we will come back someday.

Day 3 of our great tour to Asia: Spent the whole day in the city of Hong Kong with some local cachers who showed us their city.

What can a cacher do in a typical German winter? Why not travel, to Asia for two weeks in order to visit the six countries Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and China together with 34 other crazy cachers? During this trip we have received many interesting and beautiful impressions, had a lot of fun, tasted all kinds of beer and searched and found many caches, of course. In order to spare the logbooks as well as the owners' nerves, we logged with the collective name GigA19 (Germany is going Asia 2019) or sent the answers to earth caches and virtuals under this name. Since we found an enourmous amount of caches and since I cannot recall every detail, please excuse this uniform log. It is not my habit to log like this!

Thanks a lot to all the cache owners for their motivation to provide the caching world with caches and to also maintain them - you are the ones that make our hobby possible!

Crazy, 35 Geocacher's from Germany and Switzerland joined for an Asia trip.
Sightseeing, geocaching, having fun, explore new city's and countries, experience new food, enjoy vacation together and meet old friends or make new friends, that was our mission.
Our route as "GiGA19" had several stations, like Hongkong, Macao, Taipeh, Fukuoka, Busan and Bejing.
Every location was it's own experience and adventure, every area had his own style of Geocaches.
Thanks to the Owner of the cache, which made the way into our route to explore the urban and see it by a different angle than a tourist.
We enjoyed to be there and collected a lot of impressions. The little yellow Smile on the Map will be now the point to remember the adventure.

Questions Of Travel
(Elizabeth Bishop)
There are too many waterfalls here; the crowded streams
hurry too rapidly down to the sea,
and the pressure of so many clouds on the mountaintops
makes them spill over the sides in soft slow-motion,
turning to waterfalls under our very eyes.
- For if those streaks, those mile-long, shiny, tearstains,
aren't waterfalls yet,
in a quick age or so, as ages go here,
they probably will be.
But if the streams and clouds keep travelling, travelling,
the mountains look like the hulls of capsized ships,
slime-hung and barnacled.

Think of the long trip home.
Should we have stayed at home and thought of here?
Where should we be today?
Is it right to be watching strangers in a play
in this strangest of theatres?
What childishness is it that while there's a breath of life
in our bodies, we are determined to rush
to see the sun the other way around?
The tiniest green hummingbird in the world?
To stare at some inexplicable old stonework,
inexplicable and impenetrable,
at any view,
instantly seen and always, always delightful?
Oh, must we dream our dreams
and have them, too?
And have we room
for one more folded sunset, still quite warm?

But surely it would have been a pity
not to have seen the trees along this road,
really exaggerated in their beauty,
not to have seen them gesturing
like noble pantomimists, robed in pink.
- Not to have had to stop for gas and heard
the sad, two-noted, wooden tune
of disparate wooden clogs
carelessly clacking over
a grease-stained filling-station floor.
(In another country the clogs would all be tested.
Each pair there would have identical pitch.)
- A pity not to have heard
the other, less primitive music of the fat brown bird
who sings above the broken gasoline pump
in a bamboo church of Jesuit baroque:
three towers, five silver crosses.

- Yes, a pity not to have pondered,
blurr'dly and inconclusively,
on what connection can exist for centuries
between the crudest wooden footwear
and, careful and finicky,
the whittled fantasies of wooden cages
- Never to have studied history in
the weak calligraphy of songbirds' cages.
- And never to have had to listen to rain
so much like politicians' speeches:
two hours of unrelenting oratory
and then a sudden golden silence
in which the traveller takes a notebook, writes:

'Is it lack of imagination that makes us come
to imagined places, not just stay at home?
Or could Pascal have been not entirely right
about just sitting quietly in one's room?

Continent, city, country, society:
the choice is never wide and never free.
And here, or there... No. Should we have stayed at home,
wherever that may be? '

Together with a group of 35 geocachers, I visited Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and China within two weeks.

It was a great tour with a lot of new impressions and of course many new geocaches Wink. Besides numerous Tradis and many Mysteries there were of course also some Wherigos, Letterboxes, Virtuals and Earthcaches on the program.
In addition, we organized and visited several events where we also met local geocachers.
In order to spare the logbooks, we have each entered there with the abbreviation **GiGa19** and sent the answers to the Virtuals and Earthcaches collected to the owners.

Due to the multitude of visited geocaches, unfortunately, I am no longer able to write an own log entry for everyone, which is why I ask the owners to forgive me for this unified log Red Face...

In any case, a big thank you goes to all owners for the creativity in hiding the cans, for the interesting puzzles and wherigos, the instructive Earthcaches and the great Virtuals - TFTC !!

Together with a group of 35 geocachers, they traveled through Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and China within two weeks.
To protect the logbooks, we have decided on the team name "GiGa19". This stands for "Germany is Going Asia 19" and was entered by us in most cases in the logs.
On the trip many impressions of new cultures were recorded for me. In addition to many very different caches were also visited a few events. We also made some contacts with local cachers.
Thanks to their recommendations, we also came to some special cache that you would not have visited without the tips.

My thanks go to all owners, who have provided with their cans for a lot of variety on this trip.
For Earthcache and Virtuals, the aggregated information for the group was sent from one person to the owner.
Please excuse the unit log but there were just too many cache in a short time.

Thanks for laying and maintaining this cache.

# Germany is Going Asia 19 /GiGa19
In a group of 35 geocachers, mainly from Germany, we are traveling around Asia.
Hongkong - Macao - Taiwan - Japan - South Korea - Peking
The first station is Hongkong.

To visit the big Budda was a must do for Hongkong. I came by cable car and walked down to collect as well the caches along the trail.
The caches a the trail were sometimes easy but also a lot of needs to be climbed beside or difficult to find. But all were dine with fun.

Thank you for leading me through this way down.

Many greetings from Germany

16 of 16 caches found today along Ngong Ping Rescue Trail. The hike was full of stairs but the cool weather made it a bit more pleasant.

Easy find! Good to have a cache up here! TFTC!

Vielen Dosen gefunden. Diese gehörte auch dazu. Dfdc

From the 28th of December to the 2nd of January I was on a small trip to **Hong Kong** and **Macao** and was able to find some caches… [^]

Today we visited the *Ngong Ping Village* with the *Tian Tan Buddha* and the *Po Lin Monastery*, which we arrived by the *Ngong Ping 360* gondola... Big Grin The sun was shining, as we walked upstairs to the big Buddha... Cool After that, I also walked to this cache, which I quickly found and pleased I documented my presence... Cool

We made an early morning trip on the 360 cable car and avoided the worst of the crowds. Still plenty around but fortunately a quiet spot for the hide.

Impressive spot and TFTC

Thought we would have to do a spot of rock climbing here. Luckily not. Just a spot of avoiding gardeners and their trolleys! Tftc

I searched in the pouring rain but could not find it. With sunshine and a little bit more patience it might have been different. But on this day the Buddha was crying heavily.

I found not one but two cache containers. The rectangular one was flooded and log unusable, so I signed in the cylindrical one. Quite interesting to find a traditional cache all the way up here. TFTC

Was very chuffed to find this cache with no working maps or gps! I got the general gist from previous logs and tried to use my geosense and amazingly I found it whoooo! Perhaps I was watched over well by the Buddah. Log is a bit damp. No swaps in container so I put in an Australian Aboriginal flag keyring. TFTC

I hiked up from town on the rescue trail with a friend. It was a bit longer than I anticipated but still a good hike. We stopped for this one since we were so close. The coords were spot on and the cache is in good shape. TFTC

Nice place here to relax. Thanks for the cache. Many many muggles around but on the cache site more easier trafic. I took few minutes to find it and seems to be not following the hint.

This is my first geocaching trip to Asia. After arriving to Hong Kong Thursdag, I met my Swedish Friends, and then we took the Subway to a special cache. But we found a few more in the same area. Friday, Ingabo and I took a trip to Shenzhen, to log China. We had 5 DNF before finding the first cache. After more then 10 km walking, we had no more caches in the area and were OK with 3 found logs. Saturday I logged my third country in three days, since we went to Macau. We had about 20 km of walking and found 25 caches and also visited a CITO. On Sunday we took the cable car to Ngong Ping nand then walked back. It was a hard walk up and down. We just made it back to City center and my event there.

Thanks for the cache.

Together with Torado and Sivun on a daytrip to Ngong Ping. We took the cable car up the mountain and walked the rescue track down. A lot of stairs both up and down. We had a small walk of 7km at the summit level first before we headed downwards ending up in 17 km. In total a great caching day in fine weather. I heard something of aching limbs from my fellow cachers but that must be fake news ?!
Thanks for putting a cache here for me to enjoy and find.
