Bit of a hunt with the geokids on the way up, then another more successful hunt on the way down! TFTC!
It certainly wasn't there on the way up ... but it was there on the way down! TFTC!
Was lower down in the park and couldnt resist the temptation to step it out! Yah thanks for this cache, have dwelled at this spot for some time - in no hurry to decide where to next
Good excuse to stop and sit a minute! Lots of people on the tracks today! Nice quick find, all good. Tftc!
Beautiful walk to get to the cache (and some good exercise too). When I arrived at GZ I thought that there were two likely spots where the cache might be hidden so I checked them both and couldn't find anything. Read the hint and previous logs and decided that one of them was more likely than the other, so had another try and found it in a place that I'd already looked - that camo works really well, I felt it rather than saw it! TFTC
Wandering around the hills on a fantastic Wellington Sunday. Came down this way and stopped here for a quick cache find. Lots of people going up. All safe and dry here, TFTC.
The avenge of the DNF (missing cache)! Though I had to wait 5 mins for the muggles to clear. Sidetracked here after claiming newly published cache down the track. TFTC Yeetrees!
Easy enough - the cover is a giveaway. It's been a great day for a walk to Mt Kaukau and back.
Oophs just realised i wrote the wrong date on the log - actually found cache tucked away on 12th Dec around sunset, not 11th Dec. The mobile torch definitely help me easily spot the container. Will visit again and amend date sometime. I was surprised at the amount of uphill walking muggles after 8pm.
Cache all dry and in order. TFTC.

Met some other cachers looking for this one when I walked past. I joined their search for about 15 minutes but didn't find it. I enjoyed my walk though, nice views from up here.
Sveppi and I are still fairly new to the region. TOday we had to go to a specialist shop in downtown Wellington, and I had planned a walking circuit that started at the Botanical Gardens for the afternoon. Maybe I didn't research access property, maybe Google Maps led us to the wrong place, but we couldn't find a carpark for the gardens, just a few spots at the end of a narrow dead-end street and all were occupied. SO change of plans we are going up Mt Kaukau instead.
We saved ourselves the Stair Master Pro session by going up the ridge track and down this way to complete the loop. Collected cache (easy find in obvious place, second place I searched). Thanks

Took a bit of scrabbling to find this one. It was of course somewhere I had already looked . Well hidden. Thanks for placing this cache.
After a long slog uphill to this one it was disappointing to draw a blank, good place to catch your breath though, Thanks anyway.
Came on this great walking track with Talla64. We spent absolutely ages looking for this one but without success. Oh dear, our second DNF today. Thank you anyway.
Took a little while to locate as it was well hidden, but a good excuse for a rest. tftc
The second of the caches to be found on the way up to the 2018 event in the dark. Some of the group took a well earned rest with Bruce while others hunted around. It was myself that located the cache tucked away in there and provided it for the others to sign. Another smiley gained. TFTC
Found it.
Not so quick detour on an afternoon stroll to the lookout.
Nice place for a rest. Pleased to get rid of this green spot.
Quick find, hint spot on.

Nice spot to hang out with Bruce and his seat. All good here. Nice new log and cache. All good here. TFTC
Cool cache. The stairs weren't that hard but a good Sundays afternoon walk. A pretty view just around the corner
A bit of a hunt for this one after I walked past it for about 200 meters (GPS switched off.) After a bit of a look around it was where it was described in the "hint". TFTC.
Today's mission was collecting some caches around the lower slopes of Mt Kaukau and while I didn't plan for this to be my first one it turned out that way after a navigation error trying to figure out the web of paths available. The coords seemed spot on for me but I only found the cache on the second look because its colour makes it quite hard to see. Nicely hidden. TFTC,
Taking advantage of a rare fine day today. Decided to get a few outstanding caches on Mt Kaukau. A quick find. All in order. TFTC
I'm tidying up some DNFs from earlier in the year. Thanks to Yeetrees for looking after this
Container is listed as small so was expecting same container as photographed at last location Wrong! See image of new container I think many cache descriptions list this sort of thing as micro size but whatever, there is no need for rooting about in vegetation like I did for 20 minutes TFTC
Easy find as visible from hint if you expect to see something like this.
Out for a hike on a nice sunny day.

Found the spot but did not find the cache. A bush was recently cut down so the cache might be lost.
The view is beautiful though!

Well, I certainly got the exercise, but I didn't get the cache. GPS said 300m but I probably walked twice that, and the climb. I got to GZ but although I identified two or three objects that matched the hint the cache didn't reveal itself. My GPSr seemed to want me to climb over the bank and down a steep hillside for about 3 metres. If the cache really is down there it can stay there! I'll come back another day.
Apparently I have earned the right to claim this as a find after my adventure trying to get to it!!! I have a not very good left leg which tends to give out on me at any given moment with no warning. Makes hiking very exciting Anyway, was only a couple hundred meters from this cache when it went. And down I went! Right over the side of the track!!!! I only fell a little way and geeeeeezus you should see the bruising my leg! It's INCREDIBLE! So I didn't actually make it all the way up, but the decent was exciting enough to say I made it Thanks for the cache, I think
My second time finding this cache, last time I was alone and grabbed a TB. This time Maggie's_lens came along. TFTC.
Had a good look around GPS was steady and the hint gave a good clue but nothing doing May give it a go another time Thanks for the exercise anyway!
Went for a walk up the hill to attempt Witches Hat today, but it was just too windy for me. Decided to err on the side of caution and try another day. Found this cache on the way back down instead. TFTC! Great view.
Replaced the container where I found it, but it looks like it has slipped down the hill a bit. Might need to be repositioned.
I decided to go out on a big day of crazy caching and see how many I can find singlehandedly! I packed some food, plenty of water, gps, spare pens. I had a quick look in the morning and decided on a general direction with plenty of caches and some cool challenges on the way. The weather was great, even too warm at times, with considerable wind. I started after sunrise and went on until sunset, by which time I was rather exhausted - but happy... I kind of ended up somewhere where I was not quite planning to end up, but no problem! I found 124 caches in total - my biggest day going on a lone caching mission, in spite of going for some walks too. Thank you to all the awesome CO's for placing the caches!!!
Choose the good 'taking picture' disguise, so the pirate could get it...meanwhile I heared a question in the background: Geocaching as well? Yes we are

Another one where GPS says 200 or so away but it takes way more than that to get there.tftc
After hunting in the wrong spot, an eagle eye of geocache kid spotted it straight away, great hide and brilliant view
Found sitting out in the open. Have tucked away not sure if it is the original spot but should be ok
ThNks for the cache Yeetrees. Found while climbing Mt Kaukau at the start of a new year.
Cache # 2,182 - a nice stroll on a beautiful Wellington morning. Did on my way to work for my daily cache. Not too many walkers out at 6:30, but a few. Counted 5 total in my trip. Lovely views. lots of steps. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Second time lucky for me. I had to google the hint and from there it was obvious. Signed the log between walkers and runners. TFTC
#122. Nice bonus cache on the way down hill. After the DNF at ST08 I needed a happy ending for the afternoons rambling on Mt Kaukau. TFTC.
Thanks for the cache! Found on a lovely day with wafflekitties! Done a big loop walk from Mt Kau Kau and along the skyline walk and came down the hill to Ngaio!
Thanks! Quick find on the way down from Mt KauKau. With Yosser9, who did all the "work"!
A quick find, after getting myself onto the right track. The stairs weren't too bad up to this point, and the view was fairly pleasant this morning.

After attending boxhill's International Geocaching Day event just down the road it seemed appropriate to find a couple of local caches as well. We fancied a nice walk, so being close to Mt Kaukau decided to head up the track to the top. This was the first cache that we came to. Took a few minutes of diligent searching before I spotted it. Given the number of muggles out on the tracks today I was pleased that I was able to locate this one without interruption. Mrs B took a photo or two while I was looking, it's a great view here, even better slightly further up the track. TFTC
Up early this morning. Previous DNF in the dark but much simpler in light. 1084 individual steps involved in grabbing this today. Yours may be much less depending on the route you take and whether you progress on up the hill. Who needs to go to the gym.tftc. Grabbed the TB.
A lucky find: plenty of places for a hide, and I didn't want to spend too much time looking - it was a bitterly cold southerly, even here in the trees. (Luckily it wasn't raining!) At the last moment, I managed to spot it from where I was standing on the path. It was on the opposite side of the track from the bag of dog poo hanging in the tree. (I saw three discarded bags of dog poo in the half hour it took me to get here!?)
Continued my way up the hill.
Continued my way up the hill.
#932 Out on a morning walk with a friend. Hadn't been up Kaukau before so it was nice to see a new part of Welly. Nice excuse for a breather at this cache too. Lovely spot!
Many.many.many.many steps. Tftc. Didnt look at topo and thought this would be a gentle stroll. How wrong can a man be...
Out on what was meant to be a trip along the skyline. Grabbed a few caches before the rain started causing us to change our plans.
So...... many....... steps! ARGH
So...... many....... steps! ARGH
Quick find on a beautiful day, used the photo opportunity to wait for passing muggles. Tftc.
Aargh!! Couldn't find it in dark tonight. Will have to come back when sun shining.
No mistaking the GZ once we got there.. just a case of where to rummage around.. TFTC
Done a Mt Kaukau loop on Saturday only to realise this one didn't get added to the GPS. Came back the day after to climb the stairs again - already exhausted from the day before. Luckily a quick find and treated ourselves afterwards at the cafe by the pool which does very nice food!
Brilliant day for a walk. Quick find on way to top. Watched sea fog roll in and then disperse a bit. TFTC
Lovely views from up here, and developed quite a thirst on the way up. Quick a few walkers about but none seem to be geocachers. TFTC
GPS bounced around a bit today, walked past it then had to turn around and go back up. Found easily enough once near GZ. SL TFTC
Frightened a muggle, with one of us searching on each side of the path as he jogged by, haha #cache-browns
Found after a scary float over the rock to collect the cache well done eve.hermansson tftc csche browns
Been here before for the DNF quite some time ago. Found ourselves back within striking distance today and gave it another go, this time with success. The usual, "why didn't we find that last time?" comments. Ah well that's how the game goes.
