Today was the first day of my geocaching adventures in Adelaide with Kittykatch, Isopeda, barb2e, Joolay, and Albida33 henceforth known as SALI24 (South Australian Leap Invasion 24) which is how we signed the logs in the caches we found.I wondered what geocaching would be like with a group of folks here in Australia. It did NOT disappoint. They are well prepared, great finders, intrepid hunters and climbers, and just a whole lot of fun. They are also incredibly kind and patient as they took me along at a fast pace. They remind me a lot of the wonderful friends I cache with at home. It was hot today (much hotter than the winter temperatures I left in the U.S.) but we often found shade and enjoyed the breezes as we trekked into and out of the beautiful green spaces and neighborhoods we visited for the caches. The narrow streets and twisting and turning and looking for parking was a lot, but our drivers did a remarkable job. And the more urban caching was quite familiar.I happened to find this container. I think it was my only find of the day, to be honest, but that's okey, right?Thank you for the smiley and the fun!

28-Feb-24
Adelaide Leap Day trip. Day 5. The team of Canberran cachers I am spending the weekend with arrived today so there was an effort to target caches of key DT and locationally near the southern edge of the city parklands. I managed to squeeze in one cache before I was joined by Joolay, Kitty Katch, Isopeda, barb2e & Lafavoritecacher. Today we signed at SALI24 for South Australian Leap Invasion 2024. We did a few ladder caches, quite a few pole caches whilst walking and driving sections of the parklands. With that part of the list done, we headed into Burnside for some lanes and some puzzle caches before heading to accommodation. The day ended with a fantastic event at Bonython park followed by dinner in North Adelaide. Having finished our prepared list of caches we moved onto ad hoc caching in this area. This is one of two caches I failed to locate some time ago, so was very happy to find it today. Thanks for the cache Southern Cross Caching45592.7 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2010 Geocaching NSW A#184**Albida**

I recently spent 8 days in Adelaide during the Adelaide Masters Games. My husband was playing basketball and while I watched all his games, I also had a large caching list. Sixty-three caches, to be exact. Lots of lovely Old caches, some good D/T combos, a few Challenge Caches that I qualify for. A veritable cornucopia of caches. Unfortunately, because I was here with my hubby, my time was not my own, but I did get a fair few on my list ticked off. This cache was on my list, and was also close-ish to the basketball Stadium, so on the Grand Final Day, I dropped hubby at the Stadium early, and went to find a few caches. This one was found quickly and easily. All good here, and an interesting story too. Thanks for the cache, Allchin, and for keeping it in play in an interesting area.

A fairly popular and old cache this is, it must have seen some changes over the years, too. GZ looks like getting some new development next to it, but today being the weekend, it was quiet all around. Needed to consult the hint and even then, it wasn't an obvious find as the cache is cleverly hidden. All in good order, appreciated the available tiny writing instrument Smile TNLNSL TFTC

Found one nearby so it was only fitting to go for a quick walk to nab this one. Had to use the map to help pin-point where this would be and soon enough we had it in our hands. TNLN. Cheers.

Thanks for the hide Smile Pretended to eat lunch to fool a tradie muggle

31-May-22
’ve had a go at this one before and was struggling, and then got scared off by homeowner muggles. I was in the area this morning for a new multi nearby, and seeing that this one is definitely in play, came back for a second look. The hardest part this time was crossing Glen Osmond Road in the morning rush hour. Thanks for the cache, the maintenance and the series Southern Cross Caching.

Adelaide and South Australia Trip Christmas 2021/2022. Day 19. The joys of working. The plus side is I can be anywhere to do it during these weird times, the downside is I still need to sit at a desk for 8hrs a day. I did not go out yesterday, so I wanted to get out for a bit today. I headed down to Parkside to do some caching. Ups and downs today, I found some hard ones I have missed in the past but missed some others.

There was a very 'gappy' fence, and a very overgrown fringe of bush, but I did not manage to make a find. Hopefully it is lurking in there somewhere.

Thanks.

With restrictions about to ease even further, I think we can safely enable our caches for people to start finding again. Please remember to practice safe hygiene measures while out an about, remain safe and most importantly, have fun.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Cheers and Happy Hunting

Hello everyone, in these terrible times and with the current government directive for people to stay at home unless it’s essential. We’ve made a decision to take our caches off-line to stop temptation and encourage people to stay home. If this goes longer than the allowable 2 weeks period and geocaching hq decide to archive them, then so be it. But let’s hope this is over as soon as possible with as little damage as possible, so we can all get on with our lives this great game in the conditions we are accustomed to.

Cheers and stay safe and healthy,
Shane and Josie

We try to look for some of the Byways of Burnside caches during each of our visits to Adelaide. As our current visit was coming to an end, a priority for today was to look for at least one Byways cache.

Accurate coordinates and a logical hide location led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Allchin for the initial placement and to all who maintain this series of caches.

Embarrassed I didn’t find this first time. I’ll put it down to being a beginner. Found tonight. TFTC (and the tip).
