A nice quick find after riding our bikes around the MTB trails. A very quick sign of the log as the area was terming with mozzies! TFTC
A short walk and an even smaller scramble and I found what I was seeking. Signed my name in the diary on todays date TFTC
Found it easy enough, accurate GPS helped. Added a rock (geology student) and signed on my bday in the blood service diary (21/06) hopefully a bday pal does the sameTFTC
Moved the car to the end of this track and headed off for two of the options available. Nice and easy here and replaced as found after signing two of the three logbooks present!
After a small amount of tasks in the morning I managed to score a vehicle for a few hours and my target area was Cape Pallarenda for a couple of desirable Challenge caches and a shot at Townsville's oldest cache in Bowerbird Blue. I was out for about 6 hours and only modest find numbers but a good trip away from Base, and 13kms walked. As always, thanks to all COs.

After walking up to Bowerbird Blue at Tegoora Rock some of the group were keen to find another.

Day 14 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. The morning started with doing more of the Ross River Power Trail by bike/scooter with Albida33. I then headed for the Jezzine Barracks area, followed by some more caches at Pallarenda. Cache soon found. TFTC.

Came to check out the trail to the Breaking Bad series. Couldn't leave without finding the couple of trads here... being oldies was an even bigger attraction. TFTC zimmerlieman.

MEGA Trip - day 4
Assembled the full MEGATRON crew (bella at waggy, dahumbug, tardis0061, crash2079) for an early CITO at Rowes Bay. Then the plan was to tidy up the remaining caches at Pallarenda, before heading towards the book series and the bone yard.

A lovely walking track and some cool figs, very hot by now but the cache was easily found. Thanks for another large container.
Found quickly with great just great. We had seen that this cache was quite an oldie and had put it on our list of must do caches when we were in town. This ended up being quite an afternoon out, and this cache kicked off the walk around the lake. Cache container was well hidden and log book is in extremely good shape. Quickly signed the log book and all was tucked away again before we moved on to the next cache. Thanks very much for the cache Zimmerlieman, and over a decade of maintenance. Thanks for bringing us to this spot. Cheers
Day seven and Friday of the big Townsville trip for Fangsoki, Crew 153, 1MinnieMoo, Pprime and myself. Today will involve a lot of driving for the 'North Loop' up to Ingham, Wallaman and Paluma. It started before sunrise and involves plenty of old geocaches, a mountain climb, a rainforest hike and many, many kilometres. But we're still on the move, now in Townsville again and powering through the itinerary until last light.
It was here the group split. Lots we each want to find around Pallarenda. My priority was this track and an even older icon just beyond. Most of the others already found it, so it was to be a solo effort for me. The deal was I'd be dropped at the trail head, and they'd go find some others. Alrighty then, I'll likely run this as I don't think I have much time and it is already after sunset.
After visiting Teegoora Rock, I am on my way back (turns out, just 8 minutes between there and here). It is dark, and I am running along by torchlight, hoping I don't leave the others waiting very long for me. But, I want to grab this on my way through. Thankfully on the way in, I scoped it quickly as I jogged past. Including seeing what I identified as an albino bush turkey?
The result of which was very quick detour to hop around some rocks and thankfully, walked right onto the hide. Ah, nice when they're easy. I quickly do what needs to be done, message the others and make for the gate. I am very sweaty, but it's the last find for the day so hotel shower, here I come! Thanks for this geocache, zimmerlieman

During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.
The main expedition today was a walk around Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park making a circuit of the *Breaking Bad* series. We set off on our walk at 06:00 hr, and despite it being so early, we managed to beat most of the heat as we made the circuit in a clockwise direction, finishing along the beach section and under the shade of the trees. I don't think I've ever managed to drink all my water before on a hike, but my 3.0 L of water was out as we walked the last section back to the car park just after lunch. A total distance of about 20.5 km was walked in 4.5 hr. A pretty cool area to have walked, and thankfully no crocodiles were seen.
During our circuit walk, we took a stop here, and began to search. It was Davinells who made the successful cache find. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as BBQwP (Breaking Bad Quest with Peppa) to save space in the logbook. Thanks Zimmerlieman for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.
I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.
While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.
All in all it was a terrific week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.
Thanks Zimmerlieman for the cache

Day 7 and we are doing a group assault on the Breaking Bad series. To beat the heat we started early and began walking just after 6am. We were walking past this one so had to stop in and sign the log. Tftc
A plan was hatched in Brisbane to visit this corner of Townsville… the challenge and quality of caches was to much to resist… I’m not entirely sure how we landed on Breaking Bad Quest with Peppa, but I only found out about that nugget when we were a couple of caches in…??
A great group assembled at 6am and with much enthusiasm (someone’s not a morning person) we set off…
Some of the group had already gotten this cache, and it was Davinells who did the heavy lifting here…
Log signed BBQwP… ??
Special thanks to Domsky without whom it would have just been BBQ…??

Looked short on the map, thats for sure.
Sorry, I will endeavour to regress and write a decent log on most caches.

This cache was found as part of a trip with GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to Far North Queensland for the Townsville Mega. The trip started in Cairns and ended in Mackay, and allowed us to find some ripper caches inbetween.
We managed to complete some of the Breaking Bad cache series until we driven back to the car due to the heat, and the Saint and most of the book series. There were some good variety in both these series which kept them interesting.
One of the highlights (although a low light when removing the mud) was the walk on the salt flats outside Townsville to get the challenge caches
Another highlight was Magnetic island, where other than some great views, we managed to spot two koala's in the wild.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache that was part of our trip

Today was to be our big day with us walking the loop for the Breaking Bad series along with some challenge caches, as it turned out these three Tasmanians underestimated the effect the heat would have on us, we started far too late, didn't have enough water and thus we turned round when we got to Better Call Saul as we knew it was a straight walk back and we wouldn't be stopping every 500m to search for a cache.
After we got back to the car we drank and ate for a bit in the cool of the AC and after about 30 minutes we all felt much better so we drove to the NE end of the series and knocked off a few of the challengers before we headed back to the hotel for a feed.
This was my first Mega trip in a while now, I had planned to go to the last one in Wangaratta but concerns about COVID made me pull out at the last minute. For this one it was a trip with BudgieTas and GooseandEgg landing in Cairns on the Sunday where we collected a few caches in the dark before driving down to Townsville on the Monday collecting a select few caches along our very indirect route.
While in the Townsville we made the best of our time collecting a few series of caches and searching for some of the older caches on offer, some with lots of favourite points or something we thought maybe a bit different, along with all that we got to go to all the Mega events and meet up with cachers old and new, spending Thursday with Greg going round Magnetic Island and a bit of time with the Davinells who went out of their way to welcome the Tasmanians to Queensland.
All to soon it came to an end and we drove down to Mackay on the Monday again collecting caches along the way before flying home on the Tuesday Morning.
Thanks for the warm (sometimes too hot) welcome Queensland until next time!
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks zimmerlieman
A ten day mega trip was arranged with Stainless steel rat and Budgietas. We flew into Cairns and out of Mackay, with the majority of the time in and around Townsville. We found a huge variety of caches and although our find count was a little lower than we would have liked, some of the high D/T caches more than made up for that. I really appreciate the effort of the local COs and all the people involved in hosting the mega and associated activities. I enjoyed catching up with many of our caching buddies, and make some new ones too!
Thanks for a great mega trip!

10/4/22 Up in Townsville for the Mega. Doing the Breaking Bad Series of caches. Grabbing this one on way through. Thanks SL
Today was a nice day for a walk, so I did. This was the first of two I was going to tackle today. A nice easy find, all in good order.
Thanks for the cache Zimmerlieman !

This looks like an oldie but a goodie. Everything is good here. I’m sure I will get further down on this track one day soon.
With an unexpected week off work I managed to get myself to Townsville and be able to spend 3 days here, caching. My aim was to get a few as I passed, the breaking bad series, a few old caches and some puzzle caches, even finish off some challenge caches of the area, yes I had a list, lol. This was day four of my road trip to Townsville and now my second day in Townsville.
So today the plan was to start the Breaking Bad series; I got the bike ready and then found I was missing my phone holder. After 3 hours of driving around town and calling bike shops I finally had a holder. All geared up I set off, then my charger cord fell and got caught in the chain and broke, then I hit a stick and it punctured my water bottle. Ok so that’s three should be set for a fun time now.
Being on the bike was a big help today, turns out I took the easy route and followed the car path to most caches and a short walk. The first two caches were trads then I started the series of puzzles and letterboxes. It was a fun day with the puzzles and twists and turns along the way
This cache was an easy find, thank you for the hide and with log signed and cache replaced as found I was off to start the series ahead.

Day 14 of my awesome road trip, spending another day in Townsville finishing Breaking Bad series and collecting some other target challenge caches.
This one was a quick find this morning. The mozzies came out in their thousands to welcome me ...
Log signed, cache replaced as found.

Nice easy walk. Dont know if the big spider was more scary or the fact thay something bigger was eating it on top of the cache. Either way srnt Orth21 to retrieved it.
Found with orth71 on a Sunday afternoon picnic trip to Palleranda.

Parked under the big fig tree as suggested and a pleasant walk to GZ and it wasn't long before I had the cache in hand. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC zimmerlieman
Had the best intentions as we were on our way to a picnic lunch and take the doggo for a walk and it was easy to walk up to the GZ but after having to leave the doggo back with VilleFamily Snr and then getting attacked by mozzies and green ants, we drew the white flag to surrender and this will be ear-marked for another day to find . Luckily we had two finds after this one.
This was one of a number that we had solved before returning to town after being cleared during these times which meant plenty of extra time for things like caching.
So with us starting to see the sun go down this didn't look too far away so we headed over. Plenty of turkeys around and we made a quick find and added our name to the log. TFTC

Got the bike out today attempting to make it all the way to Shelly Beach. Stopped by this nice and easy cache on the way through.

We were in this area doing a big hike and grabbing a series that we had solved back home, while in here we were about to grab a couple of traditionals as well. Nice area for caches and we enjoyed the walk.

Christmas time in Townsville - time to walk off some of that 3rd helping of pudding. I got going at dawn to try and stay ahead of the heat - and largely that worked well. This first find whilst still getting into my stride was a good start to what became almost three hours of hiking the Many Peaks trail here. A good quick find.
Thanks Zimmerlieman for entertaining me at this location.

On my today’s way to the Bowerbird Cache I passed this one too. It wasn’t too hard to find. Grabbing it was either more tricky. Grabbing it was more tricky. The container was guarded by a troop of aggressive ants. Just one got me. The others had to surrender . TFTC!
