Out geocaching on the east side of SH1 between Pukaka Valley and Blenheim with Kiwimykl. He already has this one which could have made it easier for me, but I didn't need his help for a QEF.

In the never ending battle to clear my local area of caches, I targeted four caches around the Spring Creek area this morning. This was the third and it turned out to be the final because the fourth was muggle central. I had hoped to get this earlier in the month when I was in the area attending GH6710's celebratory event for his 365 day streak, but it was a scorcher that day and the riverside was packed with testosterone filled teenagers showing off to the local girls and I didn't even want to attempt it.
As I approached GZ, I could see the damaged cache container lying on the ground, However someone has put in a replacement log in another container that fits inside the original. Never-the-less, the cache could do with some CO maintenance at some stage. I was surprised to find the cache has been lonely for just over six months.
Oh... and seeing I didn't get my fourth cache, I placed one somewhere on the way home.

Beautiful winters day here in Marlborough. On my way to Rarangi to grab a couple of new caches - and stopped here on the way. Quick walk in the trees.

After finding the cache by the bridge, we walked on to this cache, despite StreetWalker finding it over 4 years ago, he accompanied me.
It was pleasant walking in the shade of the trees (another hot summers day) and soon we were at GZ. Picked up a TB to move on.
I agree about parts of Marlborough looking like Australia, not only the gum trees give it that feel, but the parched look of the landscape at this time of year as well. TFTC.

Stopped to go for a wander and look for this one after our longer walk and lunch. Looks like a pleasant loop track so we will come back one day and complete it. TFTC.
Quick walk with the dogs. Will bring back a pencil and tidy up. Temp container still ok 29 October 2014 4:45PM A Cache by Gum (Nelson/Marlborough)
[green] Haven't been on the bike for a week or so, so I decided to escape the confines of the Air Force base and head out on the bike to try for the empty log book at Wairau Bridge View. Ended up doing a few others while out here. Like this one, while on the way back home. The road bike isn't really built for this kind of trail but managed it okay. Found the cache alright, what's left of it. The cache container is completely smashed, possibly by a branch falling on it. Some kind soul has put in another container with a bit of a log sheet, but this cache could do with a bit of love from the CO. I notice the needs maintenance attribute has been running for a few months now - is the CO still alive?
Dropped in a TB - only just fits!

Found it where hint says but container is cracked beyond repair and needs replacing
Find #330 for the BAMMJams - the cache container is in a bad state of repair, but thanks to holymu (I assume?), the log is safe in it's new container within the old one. The swappables are pretty grotty and wet though, so we left them, and dropped a dice in the smaller dry container. TFTC - a nice walk through here, but our gumboots were certainly appreciated at this time of the year!
gps was aliitle off on this one but put new batteries in it and found it in a matter of seconds tftc
Found it together with spürnaseisland nice walk next to the river. Thanks for showing us this place. TFTC, Divercacher
We decided to ignore the weather today and go caching anyway. Having read the previous logs for this cache we went prepared with a new container and bagged log which unfortunately was too small to accommodate all the bits and pieces in the original one so have put the dry temporary log in with the new one and placed the new container in the battered original one. TFTC.
Notwithstanding the weather we decided to go caching today. Some new and some not so new. It's only the second time that we were so close yet it was impossible to bridge the last few meters. A rethink and we finished up where we started out We took the longest approach and were disappointed to see the trouble people go through to rid themselves of rubbish. Approaching GZ the scenery turned rather Australian but no Koalas were spotted, nor kangaroos. We gave the cache some well deserved maintenance and added a dry log to the temp one in a new container and hope it will last again for some time to come. TFTC
A very battered cache container but a great adventure getting there. Miss 2 thought it was a "very good bush walk" TFTC.
Found a GSAK page of unlogged finds from Feb 2014 this was one of them, sorry for the late log. I wonder how many caches I've found and forgotten to log over the years.... maybe a hundred, maybe more easier these days with logging from the field on my phone. TFTC
It was not even a broken, but a very exposed container lying on the ground. Used the spare logbook and retuned cache to where we thought it should be . TFTC
Should have brought my togs. Nice walk. Found lying beside the tree. Container smashed everything soaked except for the temporary log

Needs maintenence. Still on temporary log, and water logged. Nice location. Tftc.
Caching the road from Spring Creek to Picton, and back, via Robin Hood Bay and all that gravel
First of the day and a nice walk in to get it

What a fabulous swimming hole nearby. Cache was waterlogged. Left a temporary log. TFTC
My daughter and I found the cache today. TNLN. Contents quite wet. Thanks for the cache.
Found, but log book was swimming in circles in the cache box, funny coz it looks watertight.
Can drop off a temporary log next time I am passing, unless it gets fixed in the meantime.
Also thought I heard a Didgeridoo in the distance, could have been mistaken..

A pleasant walk to the cache and back beside a very fast flowing muddy river. Cache easily found. Took "Travelling Jandal" TB. TFTC.

After searching the wrong hint item to start with fianlly found the cache. River running very high this evening. TFTC
Knew the "beach"was here but had not realised that the whole walkway was there to - once that was sorted a wander to Gz and a quick find a nice area - am sure it like the beach gets well used by the locals signed log thanks for the cache
This cache has been on our to do list for awhile. Once we spotted our approach it was a great walk and a quick find at the other end TFTC
We see this cache has not been found for a long while. After lots of searching in the long grass by the three adults and three kids ... no luck. Thanks for introducing us to a river walk we did not know about!

Big gum tree that the cache sat under it's roots has gone. It was a pretty big log but it appears someone has taken it away. Luckily cache was left behind but I have moved it 50 metres to a more protected spot. Still a nice walk along the river bank.

Luckily gs spot on as tree has gone. Found cache in grass. Marked with wood and bark for next cacher. Enjoyed the walk. TFTC
A easy spot to find,Miss L decide it was snooze time after being up since 3.30am,So Mr L & Junior went for a walk,Must have been quite a walk because they were away for a while. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache
This track doesn't seem to be as well maintained as others in the region. A nice walk nonetheless.
I had difficulty extracting the container from its hidey hole; a fair bit of brute force was needed and I was worried I might break something. I could not get it back where it came from so it is now more exposed than before (although I suspect people come here for only one reason). TFTC.

I biked out here from our motel before heading out on our way home

This was the first of eight finds for Teeeroy, and seven for me today. We were spending a bit of time together after our Dad passed away last week. Great to hang out and do something constructive together! Had the log signed on 03 May 2011 at 12:34:00.
Today was tidy-up day for the caches in the Blenheim area before moving on to Nelson for two days. I was out with BaldEd again this morning.
It was a nice walk along the river bank to give us our early morning walk.
Cheers for the cache.

The gps was keen that Tufty and I swim across the swimming hole to get to the cache. We disagreed, so we went by another route and the only things that got wet were our shoes from the morning dew. Lovely old gum trees.
Another excellent cache easily accessed on a early evening stroll with G_G_G. TFTC
Awesome Fantails they put on a fantastic show

Last cache of the day as its getting dark. Easy find though. Left a pet rock - a swan. TFTC
Been eyeballing this one for some time, but it always seemed to be too wet. However today was the day to knock off this one. What a neat spot, a good little walk, and a cache at the end. TNLN. TFTC.
#570 Enjoyed the stroll up to GZ, very pleasant on a lovely sunny day. SL. TFTC.
1245hrs Nice short walk and easy find. The Italian Job was here......! Our blog www.motorhominginxs.blogspot.com
The GPS signal was poor, so lucky we had Nana's Eagle Eyes to help our 12 Eyes team on this one. A great spot by the river - will have to come back when it's warmer for a dip! Took a bracelet and left a rugby card in honour of the All Blacks' performance against Sth Africa overnight. TFTC !
This was a little creepy, but there were some beautiful colourful birds around! TFTC!
Took a bit of searching, but ended up being where we looked first.

5th cache of the day - travelling from Picton to West Coast with Ariestiger + nephew Ben. Quickly spotted by nephew Ben. A quick sign grabbed TB, dropped GC and on our way. TFTC
#1308 (22/22, day 3/4 of Easter trip to Blenheim). Troodles decided to stay in the car while I went to investigate (it ahd been a long caching day, and the previous entry was a DNF). Turned out that the cache was still there, and was quickly found. TFTC.
Easy enough to find, and a nice walk. Hardest part for me was finding where the track started. TFTC.
Co-ordinates good, cache found in under 30 seconds of arriving at GZ. Cache in good condition and right where hint suggests. Lots of signs of searching at nearby tree. SL Left Jeep TB TFTC
Found the tree no problem but couldnt find the cache. Looks like no one else has found it in a while either. Will try again some other time. Nice walk though, stumbled on a young couple being amorous in the bushes - oh to be young again
Did a fast run to get this one during a stop on the way to the ferry this afternoon. Found quickly - signed log, TFTC
