Found It!
Didn't have any weetbix today - had Freddo cook me a pancake instead. But after a bit of a walk I made it to GZ and quickly found the cache! Just don't go any further to the north than you have to!

Heading down the river with Jack. Saw your cache, thought I'd drop in!
No weetbix this morning but a muesli bar might help.
Parked near another cache and went for a walk following an arrow,
how hard can this be!
Oops - shouldn't have said that.
Somehow ended up at the top, from the bottom, then crawled back down to
almost GZ, nearly GZ, YES! GZ Cool
Clinging to the crumbly stuff this cliff was made of, signed the log with other hand,
then decided the quick way was down!
All in all, i earned the terrain stars, and saw some great scenery.
Pity this spot seems to have been a local dump ground too.
Slowly and carefully finds the cache. Razz

Bit of a late log but I remember this one well as Gpsr was jumping all over the place and had me scrambling up down and across the slippery slope.Found using waypoints only and fell for the decoy hide and rechecked a couple of times before eventually making the find.Bit of a history lesson in the bits and bobs embedded in the hill.
Thanks for the cache gypsycacher

Suscoe's 19th find of today as we turned around and headed to the south east in the company of Phetlern.
We had arrived in Loxton and headed out this afternoon to check out the local caches.
We found our way in here and then had a great walk to GZ.
A terrific view, shame about the broken glass and cups and plates here and there.
Log signed and we returned to the car with three cornered jacks coating our shoes.
Thanks to gypsycacher for placing this cache out here, a great view, thanks!!!!!

With our caravans set up in the Loxton and having grabbed a bite to eat it was time to seek out some local caches with fellow travellers the Suscoe duo. The warning about good footwear is certainly timely. We encountered broken glass and china everywhere as well as lots of 3 cornered jacks.

Thanks to gypsycacher for the hunt.

From a nearby scramble up a slippery slope to find a cache, I could see this cache showing up a few hundred metres away Razz
Off we go then !!

This used to be some sort of quarry, I am guessing, given the machinery hereabouts Big Grin

And after another scramble up another slippery slope, I found meself at GZ Big Grin
What a good place to be wearing hiking boots [^]
And sure 'nuff the cache was a nice easy find Big Grin

Now for the scramble back to find the geomobile Sad

TFTC !!

PS: I don't like Weet-Bix !! [:o]
They taste like cardboard and turn into wallpaper paste if they come anywhere near milk !! Sad

This was a hairy one! I would definitely recommend the cliff top starting point. We climbed like mountain goats from the bottom, and found that there is a ton of broken glass & other dangerous debris right through the sand on this hill. I trod on a piece of rusty wire from reinforcing mesh which went straight through my sandshoe, missing my big toe by millimetres!

Touring the Riverland and hoping to tackle some caches that are perhaps a bit more than a drive by whilst in the area.

weather fantastic although the forecast was threatening. Twisted

Now camped at the Loxton Riverbend caravan park (they allow pets) it was off to explore (leaving the cat behind)

Found at 3:47pm with Nush89. This cache was our seventh for the day here in Loxton and probably our favourite amongst the lot. It's all about the journey and the adventure at the end of the day and this one was no disappointment.

We parked near the house at the top of the cliff and Nush89 lead the way down the hill of red earth. Luckily there were no real major obstacles or bushes to contend with making our way to GZ in one piece (no claret to speak of either which is always a bonus).

Once at GZ, the cliff face was a bit steeper than what we had battled with to this point so using caution we got onto the correct elevation and made the find with relative ease. No weetbix this morning but in a bacon/egg roll from the bakery did the job.

From the little explorer "Rocky roads (and not the sweet chocolate kind) crazy cliffs, carefull don't slip, finally I'm back up the top. I enjoyed the view while it lasted before the rain came." Lots of broken glass and lose rocks.

I found this cache today at 3:40pm as the 18th of 32 on a Geotour from Paringa to Loxton in the company of Cold Freeze. Came in from the top and on route, did not see the wire fence on the ground and somehow managed to catch both feet and fall completely over. Once at the cache, we managed to navigate there sucessfully. Reminds me of Arizona or Nevada terrain. Thanks from D B-A.

Day 1 of a long geocaching weekend. The wandering heroes plus Loxton day 1, and what a day it was, over 100 finds for me Smile
I am pretty sure I would not have attempted this alone, but with a support team, no worries.
Thanks

Together with Mogni and Aussie M&M on our way to Mildura for the October Long Weekend. A caching long weekend of course. Cool Having driven round and round through all the new housing dead ends we managed to find a park reasonable close. We took the along the top approach and the Mr. M and I started a descent. Before long Mr. M stated "I reckon it will be there." So I decended a little further and crabbed across to where he was pointing and sure enough..a cache. Well spotted. Smile I can see how putting you hand down if you slipped would cause claret with all this broken glass about. Unbeleivably for those in the know, none was spilt in the retreival of this cache. Thanks gypsycacher. Big Grin

04-Oct-13
With 4 cachers in our group, we sent our mountain goat, brisal5, off together with Aussie Mark, great eyes for cache spotting to make the retrieval of this cache. Mogni and Aussie Mary were left to ponder whether the fellas had had enough weetbix. This was an early dnf for Aussie Mary in 2010 when we were newbies. Luckily Mark spotted the cache, sent brisal5 to retrieve the cache and support team mogni and Mary high fived. TFTC gypsycacher, only been wanting to get this for 3 years....YAY.

A bit frustrating. Took the coords a little too literally. Anyhow, knew it was there, so persisted.
Guarded by a small gecko, who allowed me to pass.
Took a path tag.

sorry it has taken awhile, checked it while in the area finding another cache today and it is still there and intacted... signed the log as a maintenance check......

29-Jun-13
Against my better judgement, I tried. I think there has been quite some erosion here, lots of rubbish, but more disappointingly, no cache Sad

29-Jun-13
will take this offline until I can check it out.....

18-May-13
Went down there for my fourth time your defiantly going to have to check this one!!

09-May-13
I'd be surprised if this cache isn't there as I replaced it recently... I've also noted (with co-ords) an easier path to the cache however am yet to edit the listing to include the additional waypoints.... this easier path does involve a challenging final 30m or so with the last 2-3m to retrieve the cache perhaps more so than the route up the cliff... this is reflected in the cache terrain rating and I feel fair warning is given in the cache description....

[EDIT] additional waypoints now added to cache listing

08-May-13
No ones found it yet so mabye check it.

12-Apr-13
Really disappointed not to find this one. It appears to be gone. What was more disappointing was the location, a previous city dump site. The slope was covered with bits of broken glass every 200 mm. If you slip here, watch out, you will get hurt. A good idea, but a poor spot given the inherent danger with this location. Owner should check or archive.

22-Feb-13
several of us Spent ages looking for this one and came up empty. Sad
Hope we didn't miss the obvious!

11-Feb-13
hi you may want to see if this one is still there

21-Oct-12
I wasn’t particularly happy about this cache. The hill it’s located on is unstable and crumbly and literally covered in broken glass; much of which is imbedded in the soil. It doesn’t matter how careful or capable you are, the potential to slip is enormous, and any grab for a purchase or handhold IS going to result in badly cut hands and knees.
A warning that you’ve been warned is hardly acceptable; it just shouldn’t be here in the first place IMO. There must be dozens of better sites to highlight this area?

03-Oct-12
Never saw the first 2 Weetbix caches (we assume have been archived), but this one was a walk in the park Razz.
Quickly spotted the 'cachey' place [8]. TNLNSL.
Thanks Gypsycacher.

No need for weetbix. Awesome spot though.

22-Jul-12
Scampered around in circles for a while with the boys slipping and sliding then spotted the small pile and logged a find. TFTC

07-Jul-12
We approached this cache from Thiele's View. Nice easy walk until the needle swung up the cliff face.
It was like climbing a giant Apple Crumble. One step forward two back, but we got there in the end, surprisingly intact.
Signed log and slithered down on my bum!
Thanks Gypsycatcher for the nice walk and the hideous climb.

14-Jun-12
Ater sliding down the slope into a prickle bush we decided to leave this one and come back another day when we were more suitably dressed and more prepared. Thanks for the challenge.

08-May-12
Found with bogonghazy whilst on a flying visit to S.A. from Mexico to do a few Trails. Bogonghazy did the last little stretch whilst I kept watch, and admired the fantastic views, and the abundant birdlife. Thanks to gypsycacher for bringing us here and the cache.

08-May-12
Quick find after the walk along the edge to a suitable spot to descend. The biggest problem here was the bloody prickles in the grass that stick to everything, not the slope. Smile
Thanks gypsycacher for placing this one, great views.

We had oats this morning. Cache found. Loved the view.

We feel blessed to find our names on the found list. For a cache that has been there for so long, so few finds. MY ADVICE - Tackle it from the bottom, not the top; wear good shoes; watch for the broken glass; trust your GPS, not I-Phone, thanks for the experience, it was not that bad if you stood back, looked and preplanned where you were going. Caution is still needed. Very doable. SL TFTC

TFTC. TNLN. This cache is a dangerous one! If my husband didn't know what he was doing, the outcome may have been totally different. I recommend it be re-located to safer ground.

10.00 am

DAMN DAMN DAMN, with 3 sets of eyes looking and another call from a prior finder, we came up empty handed. we looked and searched for at least 30 minutes and came up empty handed.
We feel with the recent rains, this cache may have been washed away, can this be checked ???

Cheers,
Mark/Gayle

Bacon and eggs for breakfast may have been the reason for not finding this one, searched for quite a while with other cachers with no joy, enjoyed the views TFTC

09-Apr-10

I'd been surviving on hot cross buns and coffee for breakfast at the Mega. I don't mind the crunchy weetbix when I have it. I loaded up on a pasty at the bakery b4 tackling this one. Just as well. Clear skies to gypsycacher. Nice to get a [orange]bronze podium here - thanks [/orange].

On our way home from the Oz Mega at Wagga Wagga we decided to do a few local caches with crane2 - this was the twelfth one of our fifteen for the morning before we took off home to the Yorke Peninsula. crane2 had left her water bottle behind when she claimed FTF so Grom2 was keen to find the cache and retrieve her water bottle. It was slightly damp underfoot which made it easier to climb - enabled one to grip into the slide - Mum Grom managed the climb but there was a bit of huffing and puffing - Grom2 scrambled up there, quick as a flash - a great location - a great series - missed out on doing one of the series cos it was disabled - took a couple of crane2 pathtags - no gypsy cacher tags in the cache this time for us but fingers crossed for one on our next travels from the YP to Loxton!!!!!

The weetbix series was published about 8:30 last night, but I saw it around 10:30 when I sent an email. After reading the cache descriptions I could see they weren't really ones I should tackle in the dark, plus I had had a big haul of FTF's earlier in the week, so I didn't need to be greedy. After sleeping in I decided to tackle #3 first, thinking others might do them in order. Parked about 300 metres away and walked in, carrying my water bottle and trekking pole and GPS on a lanyard around my neck (I've learnt to do this around cliff faces! Wink I should have left the drink bottle at the bottom of the cliff as it fell victim to my climb and is now positioned about three quarters of the way up on my track. I ended up coming down the wash away and couldn't face going back across to collect the bottle! Maybe it will magically turn up on my doorstep as a random act of kindness Wink Whilst I always take terrain ratings seriously, this cache really was at the edge of my capabilities. It was quite frustrating as I could see what I presumed to be the cache hide from about 3-4 metres away, but it took me ages to inch my way up and across. I imagine a fit Riverland dolphin will just bound up there no probs, but for this overweight, not very sure footed crane it was a real challenge! But, hey, that is what geocaching is about and I would expect no less from a Gypsycacher commemorative cache! It was with great relief that the hide turned out to be where I thought it was. I felt I deserved the reward and took it all and left two of my own. Pity I had chucked so much broken glass down the washaway earlier as I ended up creeping down that way! Have come home to wash my wounds in Dettol, to inspect the torn pants and to eat some lunch seeing I skipped breakfast. The cache name should have warned me that I needed my weeties! Will probably tackle the other two later on in the day. So cache find #647 and FTF #56. Thanks gypsycacher for putting out some more local caches and congrats on the seven year anniversary.

Oh dear - so that mean I have to come back to Loxton.... RazzRazzRazz

14-Mar-10
Hats off crane2, great effort and yes you deserve the reward! [^] Gypsy thought you may go for this one! Wink
A semi-fit gypsy found it challenging and can understand where you are coming from..... #1 and #2 are easy compared to #3.....
