Short-stuff has never seen The Simpsons, but the titles of these caches really appeal to her five-year-old sense of humour. So, to keep both of us amused, we decided a drive in the hills was in order.
Another lone scramble, up the bank and a quick find. This really is a beautiful area to drive or ride.
I always enjoy a pee with a view...

Today was another epic cache run with best mate ahomburg thru an area of Melbourne I have not visited until today. This was one of 32 found and we also had a few DNFs.
After parking the car the likly hide was spotted from a distance and thanks to my goat climbing skills I was soon at GZ with cache in hand soon afterwards. TFTC homerjay73 first of yours found today.

Find # 1764
After a late night at the WWFM IX event in the city and just three hours sleep, I was picked up by my caching partner in crime, sedgwickDave and we headed in a northerly direction towards Whittlesea and a massive day of caching.
This one was a nice quick driveby, we parked in the only place available and walked the short distance to GZ for a nice quick find. Waited for a couple of cars to pass before returning to the car.
Thanks again to homerjay73 for the cache. TNLN.

I parked near the lake (trying to avoid blocking the gate that didn't look like it had had much use recently - for a few minutes I thought it would do no harm) and followed a well worn path up the hill and crossed the road. The cache was soon found and logged.
Take care coming back down - I found the surface very loose and slippery and I skidded down almost onto the road!...

A nice easy find on our drive through this beautiful part of the country . There are parrots living inside the tree going by the feathers at the base and the scratching noises coming from inside. Thanks again HJ73
Lots of wildflowers about on this gorgeous sunny day.
Cheers homerjay73, thanks for bringing me to this great spot.
Cheers homerjay73, thanks for bringing me to this great spot.
Sooo we picked a wet day to look for this one which made the easy terrain rating much more difficult but lots of fun Be careful if you are looking on a wet day :p
gps was spinning us around here. we walked around for a while then saw a track.
26/04/2011 16:22 Found: #427 I an still on my way to Nest-le and I saw this second cache popup as a drive-by. I stopped near a sign and crossed the road. Up the bank and straight to the obvious location. This was the quickest one so far today. I sat on the ground to sign the log and enjoy the serenity. TFTC TNLN SL
Found easily, gps took me right to it, just uncovered it and had it in my hand. Nice location. TFTC
A quick stop in the rain, with Alansee waiting for me in the car. It got a little slippery but managed to get to and back from GZ without any incidents. TFTC
3.05 Just the two of us out today trying my new birthday present. Its working well and I think I will keep it. The best thing about country caching is there is no one about to pressure you. We took time out to drive around the affected areas of the dreadful bush fires of some 13 months ago. They have done a wonderful job in the rebuilding, and vegetation has come back so quickly, it is such a lovely area to come to. Left Mr Xambo to watch the car while I took the short quick way up. Nice easy find, a sign and off to our next find. . Thanks for the cache

Found by Mrs Keeper on one of the rare times that she took control of the power of the GPSr while I grabbed a quick drink. She took the woosie way to GZ rather than the manly direct approach that I would have made.

We were out for a late afternoon threesome and this was first. Her knee is still healing so we took a gentler, roundabout way of walking to GZ. A good spot and well hidden. TNLN Thanks HJ73.
Nice spot for a cache, although the race across the afternoon traffic was a bit tighter than we would've liked. Boys had a good peek at the cat(?) skull nearby, so their afternoon was made.

Once we had the car parked safely we clambered up to find the cache. Thanks homerjay73 for the cache.
A nice rural drive by, once we let the gps settle. The day wasn't so warm by now with the clouds coming over.
I found this cache at 11:15am as the 4th of 14 today. Thanks for the cache from D B-A.
We had just stopped near GZ, when people in a 4WD stopped and asked if we nneded help, I think they though we had broken down. A short walk and a quick find.
Thanks, Robmc.
Thanks, Robmc.
Found at 11.15am GAFF1 in the company of Rabbitto. Rabbitto took off wanting to find this one first, but we parked about 90 metres away, so I had a chance to catch up and search along the fence line. After poking around a few spots the cache was found and then we noticed that we could have just about parked opposite GZ.
Thanks homerjay73
Thanks homerjay73
Actually this spot seemed quite busy with cars coming and going all directions including one that stopped and asked if we needed help. After assurances that we didn't we soon had the cache signed sealed and delivered.
Thanks homerjay73

Another familiar location that I've been past a number of times over the last year or so. I could see a cache trail forming as I approached and sure enough it lead straight to the cache hide. I had to duck out of view from a couple of cars but there were no problems other than that.

I rather like traveling around this area - it's quite relaxing as it's far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the more populous areas, but the satnav knows all about the roads and they're generally nice to drive on and it's quite picturesque too . Anyway, as GZ approached, I wasn't too worried about a parking spot as I've done enough HJ73 caches to know he doesn't like to walk too far and, sure enough, I was able to park within 20m of GZ and the cache was a nice, quick find. I must admit to wondering if it really was a HJ73 cache at first, as it's a Sistema and very nicely painted too - looked more like a Bigglesbear container!
TNLN, but did take to geocoin
Thanks again HomerJ73

Found by Mary & David at 1220. A nice quick find in such a pretty area. Dropped off 'The Travel Slug Geocoin # 1'. Our thanks again to homerjay73.
The second of the two newies in this area this morning and the third of an HJ73 trilogy. A nice easy find at 09:20. We were also amazed at all the trucks that were going by this spot, which we guessed related to the rebuilding of the nearby communities after the devastating and tragic fires of a couple of months ago.
TNLNSL, although our 1st traveller into the cache geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks again homerjay73.

Was this early enough for a FTF?
Not quite- beaten by only 20 mins.
As I say to my grade- You snooze, you lose. I lost.
Lovely drive, my PT did not like the gravel roads! Came home an easier and more direct way.
TFTC HJ, keep it up!

Found at 1700hrs, and ditto Lead Scout, looked pretty weird with 2 kids in tow trying to get to this cache. Lots of traffic at this time of the day as well. Some locals I suspect wanting some privacy after the events of recent weeks. But....was in the area for lunch with friends, so could not resist a quick cache on the way home! Took nothing, left smiley face and plastic toy.
Found with scout junior. At first I was on the side of the road but when all the trucks had gone, over we went. Left a keyring. Ta bro
