This is a great cache, and it's a great shame, but this is now private property with no public access and the actual track (which unfortunately itself is temporarily closed at the moment due to volcanic activity) has been rerouted. I hope sometime in the future the CO might consider a "version 2" of this one situated on the new track, once it has reopened.
Thought we had better not go for this one given that it is now on private land and the track has been moved.
This cache is on a trail which is currently closed, it should maybe be disabled until the trail reopens as DOC obviously does not want people around there.
Found with NovaLightning, took the lower track entrance in and was soon at the cache, legs were now sick and tired of going uphill. Great spot for a rest and view, TFTC
This was a easy find but not sure if really i was allowed to get it... The track to this cache is closed by doc. not sure if this needs to be attended to??
After some days it was the first good day for the crossing.
I did the crossing and some caches along. Had to delete the log and write it again, because the caches along the crossing were not in the right order. I like to think back to the days down in NZ.Tftc.

Hiked in from the Mangaetepopo end to complete the crossing. Yip sign did say closed but what harm could I do? It was only a short way up. Quick find, Signed log then replaced. TFTC
Well the sign only said Track Closed. It did not say keep out, do not enter etc. so I took a short diversion up to GZ to make the find. Seem to remember walking down this way the last time when the cache was MIA. A lot of effort seems to have been made to build a new track to replace a track that wasn't all that old the last time we were here in 09. I think I can guess why as well. TFTC
The Freezer Mice strike again!!!
Second time over the crossing for us... but this time as cachers!
Nice day for a walk over the crossing... but had to divert up the old closed track to get this one

... what a pitty, it wasn't there. The spot was quiet obvious, so we took a picture, but the cache might be gone.
Road is labeled as closed but still accessible up to "steam spot" Found in few minutes during the Christmas crossing, TFTC! Greetings from the Czech Rep.
Missed the upper turnoff for getting to this one so I had to walk back up from where the two paths meet. Noone else did but this is the last cache of the series I could get to without lots of muggles around. Gave up on the others. TFTC!
Came in from a different angle and was able to locate the cache. Found while the boys completed the Tongariro Crossing. Thanks for placing so many caches for them to find.
This cache is no longer accessible, as there is now a "track closed" sign placed across the track at the start of the spur. Quite a shame.
The last time I was here was about 25 years ago and there were nowhere near as many people around then. Thanks for the cache and the great series, they've added to what has been an awesome trip.
Had to send up a younger EU crew member for this one - older EU crew having some back issues! Another amazing area, and still not tiring of the landscape and views. TFTC

Our last one on Ontario Crossing. The others have been blocked by muggels.

Had to rush a bit at the end to catch my bus, but had a great time on the Crossing. TFTC.
Talk about a muggle highway! We eventually found a break in the traffic to grab it. TFTC
What for a great trip. Thank you for the cache and best greetings from Germany from buddelflink & co.!
During an awesome 4-week hiking trip into the Garden of Eden we stumbled into this one while doing the TAC! Weather was good, bit cloudy but clear. The cone of Mt. Ngauruhoe was only a few minutes visible. Thanks for this cache, greetz from NL , Ro & Jet

Another quick find on a superb day for doing the Crossing. Loved all the geothermal activity going on above us!
Thanks for placing the cache here.
Thanks for placing the cache here.
Well this one was a little bit harder to do discretely (in comparison with other caches on Tongariro Crossing). We still believe we managed to do so.
Found this one on the way up to the Ketetahi Hut but only for a day walk. Otherwise I would have missed this part while doing the northern circuit. TFTC.
I walk 3 days on the Tongariro Northern Circuit and found the cache.
Nice place. TFTC

# 2 of 3 finds during the Tongariro Crossing. We had the most lovely weather one can imagine, sun from the very beginning to the very end and not a single clound in the sky. Parts of the Crossing were still covered in snow. Sooo beautiful. TFTC
nice and a bit smelly hahaha had to be in stealth mode here as to on lookers cach in gd nic to thanks
Easy find on the way down....finally had some time to log all our cache...

Catching up (extremely belatedly) with the logging of our last family trek across the Tongariro Crossing. TFTC. Enjoyed the extra caches since our last visit.
Something big nearby was covered in tourists but had no interest in what we were doing. TFTC
A superb spot for a cache - and not a muggle in sight early in the morning. Have you ever felt the water temperature as you cross the stream just up from this cache? - rather warm!! Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1731)

Slowly getting further downhill.
We had ros(mar) looking for his contacts as a sort of diversion for all the passing muggles.
He couldn't find them but came up with the cache.

The sun was now out and we were now sheltered from the howling wind. Time to remove some of those additional layers of clothing. Cache was a welcome resting spot. The "Steamer" was really beautiful and the sulphur coloring really striking. TFTC
Yet another great spot for a cache. Shame you can't go to the springs anymore - would have been great to dip the feet. TFTC!!!
After being so exposed at the hut it didn't take long until we were peeling the layers off and enjoying the sunshine as we weaved our way down the hill. Two muggles at GZ when we arrived quickly dispursed when we said it was a great spot to stop for a while. A quick find but a long log with all the names T4TC.
Found together with a team of mountain goats (not beef) from Auckland; couldn't quite count how many in the group through the steam, and not sure how many caches we had found. I think the dehydration was affecting my judgement? T4TC
We found this cache with Standa.Sefl during our holiday in New Zealand. New Zealand has very nice nature, thanks for all nice places. Greetings from Czech republic.
We spent great four weeks caching in NZ. NZ nature and the caches are amazing. Thanks for all the caches, the great adventure and greetings from Czech Republic.
A well placed cache - was able to deal with it in spite of many people on the track today. I recall the pleasure of soaking my feet in these hot springs years ago when you were allowed to pass by them.
quick find, pretended to be taking photos and the long grass allowed signing the log in privacy. tnlnsl.
finally a good find and another cache to make going down easier.

6th cache of 10 on our trip over Tongariro. All caches were very nice and we had no problem to find them unseen despite the crowd. Some of the we did in cooperation with another german geocachers.
Thank you for great set of caches.
Thank you for great set of caches.
Getting all steamed up myself, another layer off whilst signing the logbook. Great views of the steam vents, TFTC
Found after completing the crossing with a team of other cachers. Mrs TT can well remember the days when you were allowed to soak in the springs, and the joys of heading out from the hut after dinner and marvelling at the great views in the starlight. TFTC
Lots of steaming going on up there and I'd love to investigate further. Alas, not allowed.

4002 An amazing spot, awesome views of the Springs and hot pools. Getting quite steamed up trying to keep up with Sp8s and ADV. TFTC
Found with Integrated Planning in 2010 before switching logs. TFTC. Amazing walk!
