A bit of a bush bashing adventure to get near gz. Nearly slipped off a log then nearly broke ankle on the hidden rocks! The hint gave us just the slightest of clues. Luckily the coords were pretty good and fanned out to hunt in different areas. Geoboy eventually shouted "found it!" He had to carefully reach to avoid the gorse. Glad to have made the find here. Tftc
This cache was a major adventure to get to. I started on the wrong side, so walking along many fallen trunks of pine trees and climbing, I crossed the creek and got to the GZ. There I accumulated many scratches over a long search for the cache. With a careful search it eventually showed itself and I was able to see my friends log form 2013.Pretty epic.
We searched a bit today but no luck. As many have mentioned this is a very overgrown area and the thorns on the flowers are nasty.
#564It was good fun walking through the overgrown plants to get to the cache! The area certainly looks very different from the satellite imagery. Logbook is now full so have added a new sheet. After reading the note, we tried to look for klh1328's signature but could not find it amongst the other names! EXPNZ took some photos of the log to send through. We scurried away and pottered out of the car park after making the find.
Holy heck this place is totally overgrown now. No easy access, but bush crashed through anyway. Quick find of the cache and all good. Thanks.
No finds for over a year, then two independent finds on the same day!!!If you come in from the AA parking lot, look for a couple of huge logs mostly hidden under the greenery, use them as 'highways' to approach to GZ.
Had so much fun doing this cache. I think it was the start of August last year. Wondering if the next finder could let me know when I signed the log as my other half isnt too keen to let me go back there again. Haha.
8020 Another day in Auckland with ABCDF4 and eyespyben. After making our way up from the stream we got lucky as it was the first place I looked. Thank you for the placement.
Off to the big smoke of Auckland again with KGD &EyespyBen and what a beautiful day
Nice easy find here today thanks

What a bit of a bush bash but soon had cache in hand with kgd and abcdf4 and curry pot not hot enough
The curry pot. What in innocent name for a cache like this.
I approached the cache from a side where the fence was permitting. Not the best choice.
Made my way slowly through the terrain. Getting closer, but GZ still 11m away.
I had to decide, whether to search in front or behind this big wall of gore bushes.
I went for behind (from my perspective), which was a good choice, but meant I had to cross quite a lot of fallen trees. Not all of them very stable.
A lot of deep holes inbetween tha lava rocks as well. I checked every step I did, if it was safe to step on. Didn't want to fall and vanish forever in the unknown lava caves of Auckland.
I also had to be careful not to be seen by the company close by. Very irritating.
But finally I made the find. What a relief. Thanks for this adventure cache. Glad I was successful, which means I don't have to come back ....
The container could use a new lid and a new logbook.

Well M13 had tried this once before but had run into a little sharp trouble and had given up on the idea, he returned today with M23 to give it another go while i was at Bunnings buying supplies as we do.
I finished up and made a quick call to find they were still looking, i made a quick dash to GZ which by my GPS was spot on and had the cache in hand quicker than it took me to get there, maybe its because i like a good curry.

Decided to have another go at this one. Terrain is incredibly dangerous. Don’t even attempt with small children / wrong shoes / wobbly legs! There is no easy way of getting to GZ. Would love the CO to check up on this cache so they could change the D/T rating to something much more relevant, like 3.5/4.5 - at least it would seem worth the effort of getting then. Anyway Bird went forth while Phil stayed with the bikes. After getting to within 10m of GZ just had to very carefully look in every nook and cranny. The one good thing about this cache is the container is bright red so when Bird did see it, she was very pleased! Then remembered she didn’t have the pen to sign, Phil did! Absolutely no way he was going to get here and 100% not a throwable distance or terrain! Took photo instead (spoiler alert) although I think any cacher would just be glad of any help on this one, and hopefully NOT from St Johns. Glad to finally turn this blue face into a smiley, and leave without any injury.
**apologies for apparent duplicate log - chose wrong category from drop down it appears!**

Stopped off here on my way home, been eyeing this cache awhile, but due to the DNF didn’t feel to hopeful...
As I arrived, I parked and started toward the GZ, passing this car parked on the grass, which at second glance had a geocaching trackable sticker in the window!
I was shocked to see one and totally expected another cache at the GZ here.
But as I headed towards the GZ, I didn’t see anyone else...hmmm?
Anyway, it took a few minutes to find the cache, but I eventually found it how the hint describes except more at waist level.
Signed and tucked away, cache was dry and in a good state.
Thanks for the cache! A very nice little green space here, even though it it total chaos!

Cannot believe this does not have any favorite points. This one is excellent. Finding the environment for the cache is half the job, if you ask me. Comments below reflect that this is not for everyone, and that is probably true also.
I DNF'd this one but that was more to do with time available than anything. Look forward to returning to collect his so I can award it's first favorite point.

Stopped here on the way home from work. Approached from the car wash, across the stream. Aimed for a cluster of bigger rocks, then moved over to another cluster, having to navigate some prickly stuff and a downed tree. The hint really helped, especially the height, and found after a few minutes searching. Log is full, found a little blank space near the top, but needs replacing. All good here. TFTC
First find of the year in June!!!
TFTC although I look forward to never coming here again!

Wow terrain rate should be more than it is .... in my opinion. Found after bit of search.
I'm back in Auckland for the weekend, and the weather looks far too dodgy for me to try to go too far from where I am staying in Pakuranga, so thought I would have another go at some of the local ones that I had failed to find on previous visits, and a few new ones too.
This one was quite a task to find. The trek across the ground towards GZ was no easy task, and I have a few choice bruises to prove it. I spend 10 minutes searching around where the co-ords directed me to, but in the end I found it about 10m away in a different bunch of rocks.
The log sheet is completely full and needs replacing. Sorry I didn't have a spare on me at the time.
I was happy to be able to tick this one off, and thanks for the placement.

Today I met thegreatauk for a little Caching tour at noon time. Most of them were easy to find and in good condition.
For our last Cache today we chose that Challenge. Not easy to reach, terrain was very hard and not hazard-free. Moving rocks, logs and holes could easy hurt you so we were pleasured that we are fit and thegreatauk could find it after around 10/15 minutes.
Thanks for hiding!

I was glad I was with 2 previous finders of this cache, as I am not sure if I would have found it without spending considerable time in this area. The area was very overgrown and it was very hard to see what was underfoot, so the approach to GZ was slow. Terrain rating definitely higher than 3! It didn't take long at GZ before the small container was spied.
What a horrible and treacherous place to even think about hiding a cache! Was very pleased to escape with only minor and superficial injuries but could so easily have been much worse. Don't think we will be back!
Came here to help supernannny attempt to find this cache. She was armed with a helpful hint which guided us in the right direction over the rocks. Once at GZ though, it still took a bit of searching before I spotted something red and pulled out the cache. Gosh, with all the felled trees it certainly adds to the terrain rating
Second visit here for me ! This time I had help in the form of Merlot58 and Aiden29..... plus some good advice and help from a Previous Finder !
I soon realised that last time I had entered from a totally incorrect way ... This way today was a lot safer and very direct !
Thanks everyone ,,,nice to tick it off ! Aiden29 soon looked in the right crevice ...of which there were many !

Thankfully Supernanny had a nudge from a previous finder which made the search a little easier. It was tricky picking our way across the felled trees and trying not to slip, it makes the terrain rating a little higher I think. Even armed with the hint it still took a bit of searching before Aiden spied the curry pot
I was out and about in the Botany area for a bit of shopping and I needed to get some higher difficulty caches for my current geolicense. So I gave this one a try... I had been here before but the beautiful lupins were in full bloom making getting to GZ difficult. This time the flora was less intense but those rocks sure are an ankle breaker if you're not very careful! Luckily the GPS was bang on and I located the cache quickly. The log is now full, TFTC!
Walked around in shorts and jandals but when I checked the difficulty and terrain rating resigned myself to a bush bash.
Soon found once at GZ.

Attempted this in the dark...a very silly idea , but I was in the area so needed to check it out !
Had no idea of the terrain !!!!!
Will come back in daytime....very treacherous underfoot ....and I have a history of breaking foot ankle and leg bones ...so left it for now...Will be better with other people....

Came back for another look after a previous dnf. Located fairly quickly this time. TFTC
This is one we've been wanting to try for weeks but the previous logs have made us a bit reluctant, however this morning seemed a good time for it with plenty of light and no recent rain. Definitely a lot of rough terrain and hidden dangers, especially the wasp nest in the fallen tree, but a great location for a cache and a careful and methodical search eventually revealed its hiding spot.TFTC
Tried to get close to GZ but too many wasps flying around. Wasn't brave enough. Will come back in a couple few weeks when it gets a bit cooler.
Definitely see what people mean about rocky under foot. Our last find for today TFTC
We were a bit worried after reading some of the previous logs and with Mrs beconazes accident prone-ness so stoked to pick this one up injury free, wahoo
Took a bit of scrounging around till we found it. Sadly no curry smells left in the pot! Tftc
Big boulders and prickly bushes are an obstacle. Be careful with young kids. TFTC.
I was here a long time ago and really scraped my shins on the sharp rocks. I am now finally healed, so I stopped by to look again. I did a thorough search and was careful to guard my shins this time. After a lot of looking, I finally came up with the cache. TFTC.
Tftc. Plenty of knee high rocks here.

Great hide. The cache require some maintanace as the curry smell is no present. TFTC.
After the Breakfast Event it was time for a zoom around a bit of East Auckland I haven't really cached in before - so lots to choose from. Thanks all, for placing the caches!
Searched for a good half hour/45 minutes, after I even managed to get into the general area. Be careful, I stepped on a log, it crumbled underneath me and I've quite badly hurt my leg.
Make sure you are wearing good shoes for this one! Sent the boys in to find this one as jandals weren't cutting it. Great place to explore
Apologies for the very late and cut and paste log - I have been AWOL for a long while.
Found as part of the crazy crew that were up from Hamilton for the day with the specific objective of finding as many D/T combinations as possible.
Had a huge amount of fun and appreciated the huge effort put in by the cache owners in placing and maintaining their caches.
Many thanks

I found this cache as a member of a group of the Hamilton Geocaching Overachievers Club. We signed the logs using an anachronism made up from our Geocaching handles MCHIKZ1 (McClutchan Clan, Cats&Dragons, HKCB, iammrwalker, Kiwi69, Zorgon and 11hpg11) to save on log space and time. We were on another mad mission devised by C&D to find 40 different DT ratings in one day. We left Hamilton at 5:30am and returned at 9:30pm tired, scared but most importantly successful.
This cache sparked a lively discussion on the merits of a good curry. K69 and HPG were hoping there would be a curry shop near the cache and were a little disappointed to find that wasn't the case. Of course even if there was, the chances of it been open early on a Sunday morning would have been pretty slim. Cache was quickly located.

Out on a caching raid north of the Bombay hills with Cats&Dragons, HKCB, iammrwalker, Kiwi69, Zorgon and 11hpg11 on a 40 D/T mission for the day.
Already found a number of years ago hence the write note, but assisted with the find!

Well another case of the Hamilton Cacher Crew mentioning a concept at a local event, others getting onboard, planning taking place and the mission being carried out.
The Mission this time was to collect as many different D/T combinations (including 5 different cache types) in a single day.
The schemers along for this mission were, Kiwis69, HKCB, 11HPG11, Zorgon, McCutchen Caching Clan, iammrwalker & Cats&Dragons. After a few weeks planning then replanning as likely caches were archived or disabled then redoing the plan finally we were at D-Day.
This was the 17th of 54 caches for the day (41 Different D/T Combinations). Another cache that I have passed by often (that keeps annoying me as there are always many muggles about during the week) so this time it got included in the list of targets. made a quick find without any issues although need to watch twisting the ankles in the long grass.
Thanks for the placement

On yet another memorable and fun-filled day-long caching mission around Auckland with McCutchanClan, HKCB, IamMrWalker Cats&Dragons, Zorgon and 11hpg11, aiming to find as many different D/T combinations as possible before caching exhaustion takes over. A whole heap of fun and, for once, the bonus of surprisingly little blood spilled along the way!
Arrived here mid-morning and still barely a muggle around, so with multiple seekers, it was a nice quick find, sign & replace. Except all that talk of curry has made me hungry - how long 'til second b'fast?? Signed the log as McHICKZ1 to save log-book space, thanks for a cool placement, TFTC

A small mission a long time in the making. Caching in Auckland to try and get as many different D/T combos as we could in a day. We signed the logs as MCHIKZ1 to save room, an acronym for our team consisting of: McCutchan Cache Clan, Cats&Dragons, HKCB, Iammrwalker, Kiwis69, Zorgon and myself. An early start, a lot of kms traveled and a whole lot of laughs in-between. I think we all had a great time seeing a variety of different cache types and styles
I am partial to a curry or two and the name of this one made my mouth water. Yup it wasn't even lunch time and I was now thinking about a nice hot curry for breakfast. But no time for that today, will have to make do with warm sandwiches and left overs for lunch. Glad to have plenty of eyes here today looking for this one.

Out in Auckland today with the main goal of finding as many different D/T combos as possible. This trip has been a few weeks in the making with a lot of planning, and puzzle solving going into it. Together with McCutchan Cache Clan, Cats&Dragons, myself (HKCB), Iammrwalker, Kiwis69, Zorgon and 11HPG11, we managed to get quite a few, 41 to be exact! An early start was needed and around 15 hours later we made it back home, mission accomplished. Although some of us did want to continue on, most of us needed to get back to the muggles in our lives before we got into serious trouble. We signed the logs as MC HIKZ1 to save room, an acronym for our team.
There was a fair bit of natter about curry as we pulled up to GZ, which all made us hungry. Must be time for lunch, well it feels like lunch time. Checked out a few spots before Zorgon came up with the goods.

Took a while to find this one - plenty of possible hiding spots. Was a bit further in than my gps indicated.
Decided to re-try this cache after an earlier DNF considering others have since found it. Still felt like a mountain goat but this time thanks to Gorby's log (although there are numerous structures that could fit the description) the cache was found.
Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here.
Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here.
keylev did most of the climbing today but I tried quite a bit too. It was so much fun. Thanks for the cache.
Wow, so many hidey spots!! This took a long time for us to find. The previous log helped, we would describe it as chest height. Smelt the container, the curry smell's completely gone. We were still inspired and went to an Indian restaurant for lunch straight after this find. TFTC.
Took me awhile too! But I was in no hurry to get home, there is a broken tree stump there, try 1.5m from there. knee height it aint, a little higher for sure!
Good search around 2 days in a row, but GPS just too jumpy to give us an accurate area to search. Such a neat spot with so many nooks and crannies for a good hide.
Had noticed this one previously but with two children in tow at the time did not think it would be sensible to attempt. As we were passing today with two adults and only on child (other was at a party) thought lets give it a whirl.
I know exactly what the previous finders mean when they say they felt like mountain goats especially as it was quite slippery today after all the rain. Only one adult attempted the climbing around but unfortunately with a jumpy GPS and slipppery ground the search was called off.
We will have to return.

Nice cache - definitely felt like mountain goats - took a bit of searching as GPS bounced around a lot but eventually figured out the right spot and found the cache - TFTC
GPS was very bouncy but we found it without too much trouble. Glad I was wearing trainers as the ground was very uneven under all the long grass! TFTC
Found this cache on Mother's Day, number 111 for our family! Also spotted an old deposit of sea shells, so possibly an archaeological site. The kids were intrigued.
Finally ticked this one off the list! Was strange to meet some fellow cachers on this one, especially being such an old cache. 31 Days of caching done!! TFTC
Nice little spot wasnt wearing the best shoes but got there. Was nice to see some other cachers as well made it alot faster Tftc

Thought the higher terrain was due to muggle factor so the area was a real surprise. What a pleasant gem! The neighbours made me laugh. I had just dropped our car at Honda to fix a caching related prang and driven here in their service car but it would seem my insurance company would rather I have come to GZ for the repairs!! PINO TFTC
Took a while to find. GPS bounced around. Did not have pen so only online log
For some reason was expecting GZ to be an Indian restaurant.. instead we found rocks ! but it is not as bad as some rock hides we have faced - so it all turned out well in the end...

Lots of rocks!! but at least the rain stoped for us to look and mrs mits soon found it, TFTC.
Dropped off a friend at someones work on Good Friday and decided to grab a cache nearby as I'm unlikely to be going that way again any time soon. An interesting little spot, climbed down and thought without a GPS this is going to be really hard. My non-caching Fella though was happy to help me look and found it after a few minutes hunting. Thanks for the cache #59
Finally, i can tick this one off after DNF'ing more than a year ago. This time, i arrived during the day rather than at night. Still took abit of a scramble to find the right location but glad to have found it! All good here but the smell of curry has long gone. TFTC!
Never saw this area before. Lived here 7 years. Nice hide. Nearly gave up but then spoted something not right. Make sure you wear good shoes, very rocky.
Had doubts about this one, but once I started toward it the find was quickly made. Curry fragrance has long since gone.. Another nice day of Caching in Auckland. Thanks for the hide
souds like we were in the right place, but didnt have any joy, stopped searching when the rain started, will have to make a more concerted effort some other time.
drive past this all the time. had spare 5 min so quick stop and scramble over the rocks and we had it. Tftc
